Acqua Nobile

Wow! Don’t know where to start with this one. The background is I’m a big fan of Rudis which is one of very few rare leather scents that has a bright opening and a huge longevity without having a traditional dark base yet replicates suede and blood. So when I had an opportunity to purchase This and Fougere at a discount and felt like some freshies I took a blind punt. As expected Fougere was similar to Rudis in that it didn’t go to a rich warm or dark base - it was light but effective giving a remarkably strong bubble and longevity - mind you I had to apply it generously and by day two of wearing it I’ve realised how strong it was. With Acqua Nobile I was so excited to receive them I originally ripped them open and sprayed them on each arm. Later deciding Fougere was the way to go for the day and spraying it as per normal. At that point I had decided that Acqua Nobile was going to be weak and flaccid although it did smell very high quality. No matter, a few days in and I’m slightly over dousing myself with this as it’s my scent for the day. It’s made in what feels is the same ethos. That’s okay, AlysonOldoini does the same thing though her scents are more money and admittedly amazing in longevity and projection. So I kinda deep down expected this, but... I now totally love this scent. It has a decent bubble but can be anosmic as are so many light citruses. It definitely projects better than I thought. Closer to skin you can smell amazing detail. I sprayed it on heavily at 6am and at 3 pm it was still working though it had amazing morphed into a nice natural green dusty patchouli. The opening of citruses are sweet, bright and a touch candied and the geranium and myrrh add a touch of green wind through the bushes feel. The sandalwood is only a touch and the cinnamon adds a teeny dustiness that together with the labdanum and patch give you a teeny bit of bush scrub and earth blown your way in the wind near lemon trees. So I’m freaked out and happy - I understand some negative votes here for value, performance etc but it really isn’t poor value or performance it’s simply a light Eau fraiche EDP (in fact it’s almost identical to Versace Eau Fraiche except WAY better quality). So if this is your thing you won’t be disappointed- if your expecting an in your face citrus then... no...

Is part of the unisex line, which has as presentation pattern the metallized label, 100ml bottles and a box whose print refers to the geometric pattern of stone façades of historical palaces, churches and cathedrals, as a tribute to Liguria, land that adopted the company. According to the manufacturer, its output notes are Italian bergamot, tangerine from Sicily, neroli and cardamom; in the heart, geranium, myrrh and orange flower; and at the base, labdanum, tonka bean, patchouli, sandalwood and leather. I must confess that, before I even try, I thought: "with this name and being an Italian creation, I can already imagine a real cologne, full of citrus nuances, Acqua di Parma-style". Fooled me deeply! It is a gentle fragrance, without being weak. On the contrary, it has good projection and lasts for a long time. When touches the skin, the output is fruity, but evolves quickly to a floral and well balanced heart, without being too feminine. The myrrh gives a special touch. But the real secret of this fragrance lives at the bottom of the composition, when the creamy nuances of tonka bean meet the bitter patchouli and the dry aroma of the leather. Is a fairly unusual and innovative mix, for a fragrance that takes the name "noble water". It can be worn at any time and I believe that should reach its climax in warmer temperatures. Conveys a mixture of softness and comfort. It's like if a fine rain was falling on my leather jacket, while I’m holding in my arms a beautiful bouquet of flowers.

Wow, wow, this fragrance is beautiful. It opens with a fresh citrusy cardamom, then moves into a soft floral, powdery and citrus blend. The notes are balanced perfectly, almost like a little symphony on the skin. The only weak spot is performance. Longevity is average and projection is pretty soft. If it had just a bit more muscle, I think people would be calling this one of the best summer scents you could own. The bottle looks great, and the scent itself is unisex with maybe a slight lean to the masculine side. It works for everyday wear, it gets compliments from up close, and it’s amazing at the office. I’ve worn it with a suit and tie and it just fits right in. Gentle, clean and classy. For me this is a 10 out of 10. A safe blind buy for both men and women. Just don’t expect beast mode, unless your idea of beast mode is a very polite lion.

Such an awesome sophisticated fragrance! Takes a lot of contraditions and mixes it beautifully into this fresh, leaning masculine, summery citrussy and spicy EDP. Preferably dressed up, at the job or, if you like, casually. Its versatile enough and can be totally unisex too. I love it, but turns into a skinscent in 4h or so. Still FB worthy! 93

Between the spicy Cardamom & Neroli up top, at first spray, I got a nice "in the vein of" reminder of Prada's L'Homme L'Eau but with a nice juicy blast of Citruses. I should also point out that I'm not super big on Freshies (Autumn frags are where my heart is at) but I absolutely love L'Homme L'Eau. I just purchased this today & had to give it a try as I went in without a scent on me & what I brought were heavier hitters (and we're at a high of 27C today). This is very fresh but with absolutely beautiful florals in the way of Neroli (one of my favourite florals) and Germanium, one that I'm coming around to enjoying. The Cardamom is there but for me at least, it's more of an enhancement, giving a little punch to otherwise bright notes. As it's only been on my skin for maybe 15-20 minutes, I can't speak on the dry down or Longevity, but Sillage seems to be quite good & if my beloved Fougere Nobile (from the same house) is an indication of quality, I'm in for a nice treat.

Initial impressions are that this is a very good casual day scent - like a more refined version of Issey Miyake Sport, or the perfume that Dior Homme Sport should've been. It's mass appealing like a designer fragrance and prices itself like a Dior... I'm surprised it isn't more popular. Great for day outs and even to the gym. All of this is surprising given old-timey aesthetics of the bottle and brand. I would not have expected this to smell so modern. Definitely going to be checking out more from the house. Initial impression - 7/10

I love the mix of ingredients, and the blend itself more than the individual ingredients. It opens with a dark citrus smell, heavy on that cardamom. Then it morphs very quickly into a floral citrus that stays on your skin until it dries down, unfortunately within 1-2 hours. And all throughout its evolution, there's a very discrete salty/smoky smell of patchouli. It's a great fragrance, I can't say it would be a great scent to wear, but definitely a work of art. Sample before you purchase, this is not a safe blind buy.

Fresh, easy, and effortlessly wearable. A clean and uplifting scent that never becomes loud or overwhelming. Perfect for summer days, office wear, or any moment when I want something simple and refreshing. Not emotional or deep, but definitely a beautiful everyday fragrance.

Is it just a clone of YSL L`Homme?? I mean really same DNA, it is not bad tho but this bergamot/tonka bean/sandal sweetness has belonged to YSL for years since 2006 for every their L`homme version

#732 in my "Tour de Fragrance" Ever see a movie called, "Avengers: Infinity Wars?" I think pretty much everyone has. In the opening scene Thanos henchman "Ebony Maw" walks though the dead and dying Asgardians and tells them, "Hear me and rejoice. You have had the privilege of being saved by the great titan Thanos. You may think this is suffering. No! It is salvation! The universal scale tips toward balance because of your sacrifice. Smile. For even in death, you have become children of Thanos." Ebony Maw could have been Nobile 1942's ad copy writer: "Imagine being lulled by a cool morning breeze, an essence that is not merely "water" in the sense of a common light cologne. No! This is Acqua Nobile Eau de Parfum! An ode to the vital element, to its unstoppable force. Water flows, reaching every corner, sculpting even the hardest rock with its delicate yet powerful persistence." In product marketing you get whatever the product guys deliver, good or bad, often without a lot of time before going to market, and you have to sell it, and you sometimes find you must position a negative as a positive. That's what Ebony Maw was doing and that's what the ad copy writer for Nobile did. "Water", "common light cologne", "delicate." They know exactly what weak juice they're selling and trying to make it sound like a good thing. As a product marketing guy I give Nobile's ad copy writer credit for trying really hard to turn a negative into a positive. But in fact this scent is a "light cologne", really more of a fraiche than an EDP. My first Nobile 1942 experience was the "Gone in Sixty Seconds" "Estroverso." The name would lead you to expect projection, but sillage was in millimeters. Unintentional ironic marketing. So my thought sampling this scent was, "There's nowhere to go but up," even though any time a scent has "aqua" in the name I expect more water than scent. The cardamom-neroli combo here is in fact very nice in the opening, just enough floral to be unisex, with just enough myrrh to make it interesting. Again, all very nice. It is similar to Chopard Neroli a la Cardamome, which is less ambery to me, but with somewhat better longevity and projection than this scent's disappointing impotency, and lower in price. At least the Chopard bottle is pretty. But I don't plan to buy a full bottle of it either. The one fraiche I have kept on the shelf is Versace Man Eau Fraiche, which is a light, slightly more masculine scent that's under $60. I've kept the Versace mostly out of nostalgia for that period of my life when I first discovered it, but I probably won't buy another bottle when and if that one is expended. Me personally, I have a problem with paying $3 a ml (the price of this Nobile scent) for fraiche or colognes on principle, no matter how interesting. So I won't be adding a bottle of "Aqua Nobile" to my collection.

Acqua Nobile is a citrus/floral mix that leans probably more to the floral side imo. Upon the initial spray I get an overall sense of cardamom, neroli and orange blossom. This hangs around for awhile until it becomes a sort of powdery/neroli mix. This is the heart of the fragrance to me - a kind of soft, linear neroli/powdery type of fragrance. AN also has good longevity, probably close to nine hours or so on me. AN is one of those scents that I like, but I'm not sure if I like it enough to actually purchase it. Normally my own method is to go find a price for it and see if I think the smell is worth the price. In this case I have to say "no," but that's not to say other people might not like it.

Opening with a fresh blast of spicy citrus, drying down to a subtle powdery leather and patchouli scent with hints of lipstick. Not much sillage, moderate longevity. It's not a complete love for me, but a very non offensive easy to wear scent.
