Bleu de Bleu

I’ve had a very bad experience with this house. Last launch (Rouge de Rouge) was an exact dupe of Parfums de Marly Cassili and it was a huge letdown. Now let’s see: This is not real French perfumery, first of. Do not expect anything niche or original. Their fragrances are usually dupes of others perhaps with a tiny twist. I tried this recently and I was expecting a fruity juicy guava dominant scent with complexity but hell no. It was fruity but not from the guava, woody alright and smoky with incense and smoke vibes 💨 — and such mix reminded me of something I had smelled before. Indeed: Fame for her by Paco Rabanne. Do not fall for the trap. The price tag is obscene for what you are paying for!! Be aware ⚠️

This was another one of those Mystery Box very pleasant discoveries. I don't know much about Noeme save for their distinctive and very cool niche style bottles and I usually make a habit of not looking up fragrances online for the notes before I try the samples. Bleu de Bleu is a really fun and very charming fragrance that is in no way blue or in the ballpark of a masculine blue freshie in case that was what you were expecting. It has a very different feel to anything else in my collection. What you have on the opening is a juicy, vibrant fruit burst of guava and I think some mango and raspberries with some green citrus in there too. There is some very satisfying caramel, ginger and vanillin in the roof which pushes this sweeter but handily stops short of sticky and sickly territory. The bedroom has a very familiar incense and myrrh feel that almost feels like an old friend to me because of the amount of Amouages I've been wearing lately. There is some very clever oakmoss and something greeny aromatic in the base arranged against an absolutely gorgeous lavender and peppermint one two. This then brings the woody floorboards in the foundations into theg open. The way it is blended feels like one of those massive bunches of flowers you buy that has everything in it, all arranged in a way that just stops it getting chaotic. The best way I can describe it is an explorative study on how you can make exotic tropical fruit work with a very refined gourmand and aromatic middle and then just for the sake of it, make it meld with a Middle Eastern style woody and incense base. And then drop some very tender musk in the base just to show off. It is a really interesting and fabulously blended bit of perfumery that smells nothing like Delina to my nose. There is yellow, orange, green, pink, brown, white, purple and red in this so it feels like Noeme named this for the only colour that isnt in this complex but fairly linear fragrance. That playfulness is right at the heart of what this fragrance is. There is something very pleasingly Parisian carefree about Bleu de Bleu. It is a sunny, happy, laissez faire daytime wearer that does lean feminine but would be a really fun thing to wear to the office. I'd wear this. It is very easy to wear and even easier to like. Three Word Summary - Lots Of Fun Layering suggestion - This is very complex already. I'd use it as a base layer for a heavy overspray of Pour Un Homme De Caron.
