In Love

This perfume takes me right back to the late 1960s. I was given a heart shaped bottle of talc one Christmas and I loved the scent so much that I bought a teensy little bottle of perfume. I wore "In Love" for years along with a few other favourites until it disappeared from the shops. Now, some 50 years later I am fortunate enough to own another teensy bottle of the pure perfume plus a part used spray bottle. They have both stood the test of time very well, both are still wearable. The little rubber stopper in the perfume bottle has perished and fallen into the bottle - I hope this won't do too much harm. I have to clean out the sprayer before each use, but that beautiful powdery soft floral is still there. Sadly it doesn't last on my skin for very long, I would need to reapply several times if I wanted to make this last all day. The perfume is less powdery and more about the jasmine than the spray. I think if I had a chance to get hold of another spray bottle I would, because when I spray it on my wrist I'm transported right back to those days of my youth, when it was my signature scent. For lovers of this vintage scent who can't get hold of it now and long to smell it again, the closest I have found to it so far is Guerlain's Jardins de Bagatelle, but it's not quite there, that "something" is missing.

What an amazing fragrance! I stumbled upon and bought a large selection of this fragrance on auction. Various 18ml bottles and small perfume vials. Would love to be able to sell this to interested lovers of this fragrance. I am based in South Africa.

This was my first perfume, a gift when I was 19 and so sweet to wear as a girl for an evening of dancing. I still have the little bottle. I have a sweet memory of this fragrance.

Does no-one remember this but me ? It was probably my first perfume, and came in a tiny glass column which was just about affordable if I saved my pocket money. It was soft, but intensely floral, and seemed to be aimed at the elegant woman I was not, but longed to be. It's many decades since I smelt it, but I think Guerlain Jardins de Bagatelle has just a hint of resemblance.

My mother had a bottle of this perfume in her dresser - probably the first perfume I can remember using (sneakily). I recall it was floral and grassy and I loved it. I don't remember any other notes.. a trip down memory lane seeing it again

One of my earliest perfume memories. My mum had a small bottle from a gift set for occasional use- I think her sister had given it to her for her wedding. The rest of the gift set (bath cubes and a pink plastic heart talc) stayed in the box in her drawer. My sister and I would occasionally be treated to a sniff at the talc. I had no strong memory of what it smelt like but I bought a late spray bottle online (I'm too squeamish for a dab bottle)as it kept tugging at me. When it arrived it took me back to the early 1970s at first squirt. There are flowers and something that, in my triggered memory, I associated with the smell of the pink plastic talc bottle but turns out to be the perfume itself. I give it a sniff or a test now and again but I don't wear it. It is of its time and there are so many new things to smell and enjoy.

Hi there, I remember this scent. Just recently I bought a 'fragrance oil' called 'Frangipani' out of curiosity, having read about it in a very old novel (it was considered old-fashioned a hundred years ago.) I tried it out in my diffuser and - Hartnell's 'In Love' - the same smell, I swear it! I remember it being sold in those girly pink containers (though the bottle illustrated above is different.) It was the safe present for granny at Christmas and nobody 'cool' wore it, but, I confess, I have a soft spot for these retro florals. I got it via Amazon, only a couple of quid. It does smell much more expensive than that. Probably still not 'cool' but I'm enjoying it :)

My grandmother who was an enchanting woman left this behind when she passed away...and I got it and I'm wearing it now. After all this time, it still smells very good. It has a sweet smell...it smells like another time though, like the 50s or something. It has a very sweet floral smell... I was told by someone that this was one of Queen Elizabeth II 's favorite perfumes.

I recently purchased a fragrance that took my memory right back to childhood and this scent. Gucci Bloom smells so similar to my memory of In Love. Probably the tuborose and honeysuckle. It's like a grown-up version of In Love. So beautiful.
