Patchouli & Cedarwood

Notebook Patchouli & Cedarwood is a lot quieter and safer than I was expecting. That's not a bad thing I suppose, but if you're expecting a Tom Ford or Robert Piguet fragrance for $26.99, and you're hoping you are, you'll be disappointed. Notebook has made patchouli and cedarwood practically a morning fragrance, safe for a crowded commuter train at 7am. It's a skin scent by 9am, unless I didn't put on enough. Edit 2+ years later, July 15, 2021. Apparently I didn't put on enough. Doesn't seem likely, but it's going strong 2+ hours now after spraying on a couple of squirts, and I've upped my rating here to "love." It's still not a Tom Ford or Robert Puguet fragrance, and golly it doesn't have to be. Those fragrances have been done. This is a good strong (strong enough) patchouli/cedarwood fragrance that I've worn numerous times in the last 2 years, although not really recently. It's got a lot of competition in my perfume closet. But it's warm and comforting in the cold (and where I live it's glacial in July), and very welcome.

EDIT: It seems that storing this for a few months does help somewhat with longevity, and it has also had an effect of adding a more lasting citrus brightness to the top and mid notes. I would now say it's leaning more citrus and less vetiver/peppery than before. Very uplifting scent. OG Post: I agree that P&CW bears a certain similarity to Terre d'Hermes, but it's really, REALLY dialed down and combined with what to me smells like Guerlain's Vetiver -- which is to say more of a vetiver/lime accord. Compared with any of the above, P&CW is light and defies any attempt at overspraying. On my skin, it sticks around for a good 2-3 hours, after which it leaves a ghost of itself behind. It's linear, and pleasant enough, but there is nothing about this one that speaks to its name. Zero patchouli or cedarwood here -- just citrus and vetiver with little else. Not bad, but kind of a letdown for anyone hoping for it to be true to its name.
