Velvet Dusk

I really really love this one! The fresh/ozonic violet with a bergamot touch in the opening, dries down woodier! This is not at all unisex, really masculine scent! Great for spring and summer mornings at the coffee shop around the corner, that's all it needs and than it dies! The miserable longevity and sillage ruined this one completly! But still i got this for 50 euros! I will pour the bottle on me just to enjoy the scent a longer time!

My second sample of a Novellista scent, received with a scent haul earlier this year, is Velvet Dusk, for which I hoped in a mellow dating/night out fragrance... The first thing I thought upon smelling Velvet Dusk was: is this a Fahrenheit inspired fragrance? It's not really, but the violet leaf accord in the opening has the same vibe, just much sweeter and less masculine/aggressive (not that I think Fahrenheit is aggressive, but yeah it's a tad more polarising). Velvet Dusk is indeed velvety: smooth and slightly aquatic in a way (and I'm sure it's the vetiver). I don't smell any tobacco at all. As it dries down, it becomes heavily powdery, and several hours after I sprayed it on, all that is left is some sweet ambery/musky background noise and it doesn't really last long on my skin - maybe 4 hours? Quite unisex (leaning on the masculine side), good for a carefree evening out, the opening is nice, but for the price I'm not convinced it is a good proposition for my wallet.

Classic, masculine composition, good versatile all year (not you, summer) fragrance. Its subtle in its notes, for some Velvet Dusk may be not enough for an occasion, may be generic, but for me that's good, it doesn't scream, doesn't overpower, but underline personality and character of the wearer, after all, perfume is an accessory, its meant to complement us, not define us. On my skin I don't pick up any citruses just the mature and grounded notes of the rest. Definitely woody from the start on me, not aromatic at all as I typically lean but still fine smell. Bold statement to me but I wouldn't mind owning full bottle, testing a decant right now 😏👌 I wonder about the longevity tho, will come back to update 👌 Well, it doesn't perform surprisingly long for its notes, but it may be expectation of mine as the composition is kind of bold. And personally? That's a yes for me, I like when the bolder or heavier composition doesn't last a whole day.

Review based on a 75ml bottle that I have had in my collection for about a year & which I have been wearing all day. I can't disagree much with the reviewer below me, who summarises this ideal springtime fragrance well. Not really a bombastic in-your-face scent style, but light enough to wear about in the pleasant spring sunshine. Very much an intimate masculine fragrance that only projects a little but lasts for a while. The smokey, woody accord in the dry down is very distinct. I had to re-apply it a few times throughout the day to maintain its integrity. Yes, very much a likeable scent, but not a love for me.

My opening impression of this was...not good. However, as it dries it becomes woodier, softer and more floral. It’s definitely got a masculine edge but I wouldn’t say that it’s exclusively for men (I mean, wear what you like anyway). It’s unisex in the same way as Ombré Leather or Suede Pony or Ambre Samar are - textured and smoky with traditionally masculine notes but essentially gender-free. I would wear the shit out of this for sure. I wish the performance was better but if I ever find a good deal on it, it’s mine.

I agree with most of you. It does lean more masculine to me. This is not unisex to my nose but I still like it on my skin! Smells slightly sweet and citrusy. I very much love clean tobacco and woody notes. It's definitely ozonic. This is a fresh out of the shower handsome guy gym/office scent. Longevity is weak. Projection is nice, it's not an in your face beast mode perfume.

This is exactly the scent I was going for, and I smiled so merrily when I first smelled it, simply because it was exactly what I was looking for. The problem with this fragrance is that the longevity is really bad. This is gone after the 30 minute drydown for me. It breaks my heart.

This is not unisex! This is a men’s fragrance, period. I’ve smelled this type of scent on my dad, my uncles, my cousins, my teachers, the guy working at the corner store, the Uber driver, literally every man. It’s just... not unisex. But it is nice. Sadly, it doesn’t last long on my skin and fades after 2-3 hours. Please don’t blind buy unless you’re looking for a clean, fresh, sexy, male manipulator powdered floral cologne. I’ve noticed that a lot of Novellista fragrances change a lot from the initial spray to the dry down on my skin. It’s almost like a different fragrance by the end, even though it’s the same scent, if that makes sense. I don’t understand why people dislike this so much though; it actually smells pretty good as a men’s fragrance.

Smoky and masculine. The citrus and ozonic savor are acrid however violets are overcharging. Such a fight for attention is provocking but there is a slight sweet element also, so it it won't be a long battle. Middle tones are very weak during developing. Vetiver, tobacco - yes, but in comparation with very intense opening I wonder where the scent drifted. When the perfume is settled to the base, becomes calm. Confident, balanced, persistent. The cedar with amber are perfectly spiced with bergamot, which was given space to express itself after the retreat of the other notes. I belive it is sensual and convincing fragrance for a man. As a woman, I would wear it occasionally at night. Sillage moderate, longevity about 4 hours.

It's definitely not bad. It's pleasant and not intrusive, which is a great choice for a day in the office. Starts fresh, gets sweeter towards the end. I agree with the aforementioned longevity on skin - about 4 hours. It was a blind buy for me, and though I wasn't disappointed, I didn't exactly fall head over heels in love with it either. And although I value its laid-backness and likeability, I do find It a bit overpriced.

Starts with musty bug spray, but the drydown is somewhat nice. Not worth the price.

Velvet Dusk?! hmmm, rather velvet dust! It’s suffocating like no other!... if mothballs would smell like this, they would be very usefull!

Probably one of the worst most revolting things I have ever smelled. I am so glad I got a sample and not a bottle.

I received this in sample vial from Notino with my order: for me it’s on a masculine side. It has a sharp note of 1000x marine/Violet opening, which tones down a few minutes later but still has this sharp unchanged note unapologetically not very pleasantly drilling my brain (and just for info I love and am crazy about violets, but this combo is way too much even for me). I haven’t noticed any tobacco here. My impression it smells more like an upped version of Lynx deodorant. Men’s department it is. Pass for me.

Very similar with Trussardi My Land and Estiara E-Homme. If you like those two, you might want to try Velvet Dusk. Although leather is not in the notes, Velvet Dusk gives a very similar leather as My Land and E-Homme, but also similar to Armaf Bois Luxura (which is said to be a dupe of the discontinued Fahrenheit Summer). I'm afraid on my skin Velvet Dusk doesn't turn out too good. This is also case with My Land and E-Homme. It's fresh cucumber and dill pickles on me.

This has gotten quite a bit of hate, it's not bad - a woody and spicy scent that is pretty similar to Joop! Wow. It doesn't perform very well though.
