Milk & Matcha

Alright, I've seen all the negative buzz around this one, so I was fully and completely ready to be underwhelmed... Maybe having zero expectations is helping somewhat but honestly I'm genuinely blown away! For ME, the name is pretty accurate. Much like some other "matcha" fragrances, it's more like the combination of notes is giving the illusion of matcha rather than being a fully-fledged matcha fragrance, but still. I'm getting a green bitterness underneath all the frothy milkiness and that's good enough for me! This is a distant cousin to Matcha Meditation. That one is creamy and sweet due to the white chocolate note whereas this is firmly milk-like. There, the orange blossom is WAY more distinct; the matcha too. On the flip side, the citric top notes come out to play here and I don't pick up on them at all in MM. This has a musky base with a floral tinge (very "perfume-y"), whereas MM's base is very soft and earthy due to the oakmoss. I wish I could explain better, but to me despite their similar vibes they're not actually that similar! It's certainly NOT redundant to own both... for that reason I'll be sitting with this sample for the next couple of weeks, I really like it and am strongly considering a purchase. If you like vanillas with a "different" vibe - another great example of that for me is Lush American Cream - I think you'll enjoy this too!

Normally I run from vanilla scents, but this one totally charmed me. I tried it yesterday while looking for a matcha scent, and it immediately made me think of sitting outside at a nice café, drinking a vanilla matcha latte and eating a fancy cake with whipped cream and clementine. It’s perfect for summer, but if you’re after a photorealistic green matcha scent, this isn’t it.

I haven't trie un ete, but the sample of this "new" version is SO gorgeous in the opening, the macha with milk is so comforting! If you like macha latter, you will enjoy this one. However, it quickly fades into floral (still cozy, but not at that opening level) and it's basically non-existent within 2 hours. Personally, I would buy it for the opening only and reapply :)

Bright citrusy opening on top of the milk and matcha note. Floral elements are there to make it more of an elevated perfume instead of realistic gourmand. So comforting to wear before bed/ in pajamas. The lactonic note is delicious. Citrusy matcha latte develops to a more milky floral and vanilla dry down.

I adore this fragrance. It’s exactly what it says: milk and matcha. The dry down is incredibly creamy and cozy! It becomes a skin scent after 3 - 4 hours, but I can still catch whiffs of it for the entire day.

Opening is very citrusy indeed. Next there is sourish matcha, a bit sharp and refreshing. Dries down to milkish scent and I loooove it. It is VERY powdery! Got a sample and will be using it!

Full disclosure, I hate matcha. It’s gross. But this fragrance is really beautiful and smells incredible especially on the dry down.

It smells like I'm having a vanilla/matcha soft serve ice cream cone in LA's Little Tokyo. It's absolutely divine!

Matcha powder and tooth rotting sweet, hot condensed milk on the first spray. Nauseatingly sweet in a good way. Smells like those synthetic baked treats soaked in corn syrup, then vanilla sponge cake slowly emerges, the matcha is in the background - like a cup of fresh hot matcha milk on your desk, holding up a vanilla tart with lemony sugar glaze up to your nose. exactly like that. For sure an experience ! I think lovely for a first coffee date that wants to make a lasting impression, if youre somebody sugary sweet inside.

I got a free sample of this. Starts off as a nice, photorealistic milk and matcha (as the name suggests) but on my skin it moves along to its base notes a bit too quickly for my liking. And the base notes on me is a pretty generic vanilla scent to me. Sad. I initially smelled this on paper and that was really nice because the matcha lasted a bit longer on there. Just not on me. Will happily use up the sample I have, but I don't think I'll be purchasing a proper bottle. I just wish the matcha lasted longer on me!

First whiff of this is like putting a tin of matcha powder under your nose and taking a big sniff. Abit overpowering for me at first. After a while, it settles into this fresh, citrusy, almost musky skin like scent. Think of taking off a well loved t-shirt that you slept in while lathered in a green tea lotion. The matcha kind of takes a backseat and welcomes this wave of airy freshness take over. I’d definitely give it time to settle into the skin before critiquing it so harshly (as I did).

Smells better on the blotter than it does on my skin. The citrus-y, gingery aspect is more pronounced on my skin, which reminds me of Hors-Piste by Bastille. On the strip, it smells like yummy cereal milk, with a hint of matcha and I wish that's what I smelled on me. I enjoy it, even though I, like many others, wish this was more matcha forward. I like how it does white florals, which also feels very present especially as it dries down. It feels almost like a gardenia.

I think that the dry down of this is a really nice, lactonic matcha. That being said, the opening is quite sharp and soapy on my skin. It is a solid overall fragrance, but I prefer something like matcha soft serve bc it doesn’t go as sharp on me. If you like matcha, you’ll probably enjoy. It’s not too sweet. Do test first, not blind buy safe.

I tested “Milk and matcha / Un été” at the same time with “Je ne sais quoi” of Téo Cabanel. The first is very light on tea with zesty citrus vanilla and the second one is milky (rice) green tea matcha. I prefer the confort the Teo Cabanel more interesting. Milk and matcha is nice cosy but a little too simple for me.

Very cute perfume. I mean you have to like matcha in the first place otherwise you won’t enjoy this. It opens with mandarin notes on top of matcha green profile. While mandarin quickly disappears, the perfume turns more milky on the dry down. It is very likeable, lasts around 2 hours.

This is so beautiful and perfect, a heavy matcha opening that melts into a luxurious latte with a drizzle of matcha. It's one glaring, hilarious issue? It's gone within 10 minutes. No trace. Even on prepped, lotioned skin, even on fabric, just gone.

White floral with a warm base, stop the presses! Weirdly enough this smells almost exactly like Gucci Flora Gorgeous Gardenia on me. Same hot brown sugar/tonka vanilla base and strong and heady white florals on top. I don't get any grassy matcha or astringent black tea (I like my mate dry and robust). At most the accord smells like a matcha latte that has been entirely too watered down with oatmilk, very faint and soggy. The sillage is almost entirely a white floral like jasmine and there's very little refreshment from the citrus or ginger. If you like warm base white florals, this is a decent fragrance, but it's not innovative or interesting. Also kind of heavy and cloying for hot weather. Would probably be more comforting in the winter.

She’s sitting in the sunniest spot of a trendy cafe, her chargers are pristine and everything she uses effortlessly looks brand new. You walk past her and smell a soapy clean scent and a whiff of her matcha latte. But within a few steps the scent fades away. On first spray this instantly smells like a photo realistic matcha latte over about 10 minutes that fades into almost like an Aesop hand soap. It’s clean, it’s beautiful, it unfolds in such a pleasant way however it is a poor performer if you want any form of a statement scent. Not for me but this sample was absolutely a lovely spring morning scent experience.

This is the most photorealistic matcha fragrance I have smelled so far. However, that's all it is. Matcha and milk. I get none of the orange blossom or vanilla or balsam.

As a big matcha lover, this does not hit me at all.... Milky but with citrus, tea (not matcha), sweet. It's ok but nothing wow... sad

Ordered ~10 samples from Lucky Scent that I've been drying to try. On initial contact to skin, I smell the matcha, the ginger and the citrus. I expected the matcha, but not the strong ginger or citrus. Additionally, to me, it's more of a citrus rind versus a juicy citrus. Not what I was expecting based on previous "match ice cream" reviews, however, there is that milky note that comes through to help smooth it out. The dry down is much more matcha + milk and I do smell vanilla, but I also heavily smell the orange blossom note. I mistakenly thought the journey of smelling this fragrance on initial spritz to dry-down would be more vanillic and sweet all the way through, but it was not. Very strong on the upfront w/ ginger and citrus and the floral dry down does not make up for it. Unfortunately, not full bottle worthy for me.

Smells like low-grade Starbucks matcha and cheap white chocolate, some citrus haphazardly thrown in there to make it seem "fresher." Indistinguishable from a teen-targeted vanilla body mist you get at a stand in the mall. Add it to the ever-growing list of products cashing in on the matcha craze without thought or intention. Scam likely. Save your time and money, I beg of you.

I wanted to like this and expectations were high because I’m a huge fan of matcha lattes, however I’m thrown off by the tangerine/orange and coconut notes coming through. If it says matcha, it’s gotta match-a!

I feel like I was lied to and assaulted by this scent. The marketing for this is genius but clearly not what works for me. I get no orange anything only a stinging ginger and a sour dry down.

The milk note in this scent is quite photorealistic and I find it to be a bit sickly and cloying. A very synthetic take on the matcha craze. Not for me.

To me this smells more like citrus and ginger than matcha or milk

As a passionate matcha lover, I personally smell no actual matcha. Like someone below said, it smells like Aesop hand soap. It's a herbal (I'm assuming it's the mate) citrusy mixture from opening to drydown. I hate perfumes putting matcha in their name and giving no true matcha in their scent. Where's the milk D: where's the matcha D: but I'm happy for people who smell a milky vanillary matcha in this. For the mentions and comparisons listed: - it doesn't remind me of d'Annam Matcha Soft Serve, which I find to be much more photorealistic of straight matcha powder - doesn't remind me of Teo Cabanel's Je Ne Sais Quoi, which I find to be reminiscent of a short-lasting matcha cookie. The hunt for a sweet matcha perfume in the EU continues :)

I had this perfume since it was called Un Été but honestly... this does not smell like real matcha to people who have ever had high-quality ceremonial grade matcha tea. Maybe if you’ve had some weak, dull green, cheap matcha latte in a Western coffee shop with orange syrup and a dose of white flowers, but since no one puts this in a matcha latte you can’t describe this as photorealistic. I don’t think this is a hit amongst Asian people, contrary to the intentions of their marketing team making the shady name change.

Trend leech. The perfume smells fine, and it does smell of matcha, at least for the first hour. And then it just turns into something generic perfumey? Synthetic. I dont understand how they think they can get away with this price point with joke fragrances like this. Be so for real. What's next? Labubu dubai chocolate pilates buzzword buzzword scent? And most of all, how are you gonna charge this money and still use AI in your marketing? Beyond pathetic. Leeches. Parasites.

Matcha is great. It's like fresh mowed grass and screams green. Dries down to an obnoxious, eye watering orange blossom. The orange blossom is offensive and I have no idea why it's even there.

the opening absolutely stinks of fish, and the perfume in general smells synthetic and awful.

Just this morning Un Ete has been available on the official website, but now it is disappeared as if it had never been existed. Also in the description of the Discovery set the inscription “Un Eté (Milk & Matcha)” appeared. Here it is, it's the same scent guys. It looks like they really changed the marketing positioning of the fragrance to a more successful one and raised the price from 110€ to 130€ only for it alone as this fragrance became customer's favorite 🤦 It's ok to change things and come up with new ideas, but the problem here is they have completely rewrote the history and released it as a new fragrance. Incredibly rude way to communicate with your customers. You could easily say the brand flip flopped on perfume’s positioning. It’s kind of weird when a brand with ethical values commits such an unethical act towards its customers. The brand have ruined my trust in the authenticity of their philosophy.

This fragrance is beautiful with a citrus and gingery opening and wears well and long with the creaminess of the matcha, vanilla and tonka. On its own it attracts compliments outdoors in the breeze and when layered with Obvious Une Musc it is absolutely divine and gets attention. I love the Obvious range, they are not the super powerful, punch you in the nose fragrances... They are refreshing and all so wearable and perfect for the day to day and layering with each other. As much as I love this perfume, I can't fall in love with the name. Like @BewitchingJasmine said, Un Été was the original and a much more likable name for this little delight. I hunted down for the originals and managed to find Un Été backups 👍

Is this being played off as a "new" perfume release (rather than a reissue of Un Ete) catering to the "milk" and "matcha" note craze in the US market right now? If so, this was a very weird move that lacked transparency from the brand. Marketing something as new when it has the exact same notes makeup as its predecessor is dishonest. Anyways, I love Un Ete (with its strange and slightly funky balsamic dry down aside). Go pick that one up on FragranceNet and save yourself a chunk of change rather than buying into this marketing gimmick.

I thought Un Été was a cute name and a sweet play on words but I guess the company correctly assumed their massive, anglophone market wasn’t in on it. Renaming and re-releasing this (while milk and matcha notes are wildly popular) was a smart business move As for the scent, it is exactly what it says. A not too sweet matcha latte. There’s a lift from the citrus in the opening but gets more milky as it dries down with that vanilla and tonka coming through. As the previous name implied, a nice summer scent too

Well this was a surprise, a slightly citrus opening followed by green airy matcha and fluffy vanilla & tonka. It’s airy, fluffy and cosy. It’s not as dry as matcha soft serve and is more sweeter with the orange blossom but it’s a subtle sweetness. Wearing this to bed today, this is how I like my matcha! Tried a sample after hearing an influencer talk about how beautiful and cozy this was. I was expecting a soothing, creamy, light matcha/milk scent. It does smell like realistic matcha to me, but the citrus-ginger is so overpowering. I found this very loud, pungent and offensive, and it does not calm down anytime soon in the dry-down. Also, this is very strong. I had to wash my arm like 3 times to take it out. Maybe this is not my type of scent.

If you can appreciate a sweet and milky matcha latte, this is for you. The opening is a very sweet matcha latte to me. After 30 minutes tops, the top notes have faded, and what’s left is a quite subdued, vanilla like skin scent. I would love this a lot if it was a longer lasting fragrance. The orange blossom is not strong in this one, and neither is the ginger. It’s a very nicely balanced fragrance and I do enjoy wearing it to bed.

I've tried a few matcha perfumes, such as Matcha Meditation or Thé Matcha. However, they never smelled like the real thang. To me, Milk & Matcha was the first time I could actually smell matcha in a perfume. Maybe not authentic matcha, but like a matcha latte with a ton of vanilla syrup. Weirdly, for my sister-in-law, it smelled awful. I guess you have to try it to figure if you like it

It so so so lovely in the maybe 20-30 minutes that its there. Smells like a citrus forward starbucks matcha latte, very creamy, milky, lightly vanilla. You can catch a few whiffs of it from your arm as youre walking and it smells great. However, it literally lasts like 5 milliseconds and then disappears into nothingness

I can not get over the opening. It has a melon/pumpkin kind of smell that lingers for a while. As it dries down it dissipates slightly, but it stays throughout the wear. So weird.

i have un ete , i cant believe this fragrance is so underrated comparing to matcha meditation....no wonder they rename the bottle

Fresh, green, soft and smooth. It’s really calming and smells natural. Not overly sweet. There is nothing to dislike here.

This would be so good without the orange blossom. The florals really make it basic and headache inducing.
