Bottom line up front: This is a brilliant perfume and now one of my favorites 10/10 When a fragrance reviewer launches their own line, I’ll be honest, I usually go in a little skeptical. Not because I don’t respect the work or think reviewers shouldn’t make a living off a passion (blows my mind that people think that)... but because it’s easy for things to lean more toward hype than substance. But this one made me pause and see the brilliance in the work as it unfolded. Before even getting into the scent, I have to mention the presentation. As someone with a background in marketing, I can tell you Olfactive Traveler nailed it with this. The traveler set case, the attention to detail... it creates an immediate connection. And connection to the audience is what great brands are built on. But none of that matters if the scent doesn’t deliver. Thankfully—this one does. The first thing that happened wasn’t smelling a note. It was a feeling. Calm and comfortable... but playfully curious and alive. It immediately put me somewhere else...somewhere laid back and easy going. I felt like I was sitting in a quiet library in Florence, wearing a suede jacket, finally slowing down after a chaotic year...and I've never even been to Florence so how would I know? How’d they do that?? On paper, the opening feels smooth, almost suede like, wrapped in soft florals. On skin, it shifts quickly. Pink pepper comes forward with a spark, then melts into a buttery iris and smoky leather accord that feels refined rather than heavy. There’s a powderiness in there too, but not the kind people usually don’t like. This isn’t a cloud of baby powder puffed into your nostrils. This is luxury powder vibe that is soft, controlled, and intentional. The oud stays subtle but present, adding depth without overwhelming the composition. Even though Im someone who loves bold, animalic oud....I mean I like the stankier the better. This restrained approach works beautifully even for me. It’s blended in a way that makes it approachable without losing character. What impressed me most is how the fragrance behaves. It doesn’t follow a strict “top–middle–base” note progression. Instead, it moves like waves and thats where the genius comes from in my opinion. In most perfumes we are programmed to smell the different notes in layers but this doesn’t do that. It comes in waves and goes out then different ones then the same again then different.....ok ok you see where I'm going here...It’s constantly evolving. Thats the genius of Olfactive Traveler....look at the name...traveler. When you are a tourist somewhere you visit the sites, smell the smells, hear the sounds, and take the tours. When you then relive them, those memories don't just come in layers “oh well first we....then we....and in the end we....” Sure you start your tale that way but as you tell each progression of the story you remember something and go back to that point that then jumps you to what you think was the end then....oh yeah...what about that bakery we passed on the way to the hotel. THAT is Pelle Viola.....it is this genius blend that changes so much but through all the changes that suede jacket stays on and guides you through it all. It feels less like a formula... and more like a journey. Projection: Moderate, noticeable within a couple of feet Longevity: Easily 10+ hours. (Said 8 in my video but skin scent was still there in the morning) Oil concentration: Feels high—this one sticks and develops over time Who Wears This? This is for someone who appreciates artistry and experience. I get a very specific image: An “academic explorer” type—someone who travels, studies culture, appreciates history. Think an Indiana Jones energy but without all the kicking and whipping and shooting. Just the intellect, curiosity, and appreciation for the world. (but could handle themselves if stuff gets sketchy) Unisex: Completely Masculine lean: Slightly (on my skin) Age: Men: 30+ feels natural Women: Could be worn at almost any age This is genuinely well done. It’s already pushed its way into my top rotation—and that’s saying a lot, because my lineup has been flipped upside down more than once on this journey. Well.....heres an addendum.....my wife has commandeered it into her top rotation too hahaha. What makes this special isn’t just the scent itself. It’s the concept behind it. This fragrance captures what an “olfactive traveler” really is...someone moving through experiences, picking up pieces along the way, revisiting them, layering them, and turning them into something meaningful. If this doesn’t scent doesn’t hit for you, that’s fine... but if it does you just connected to something a lot of people will never understand. 10/10

I’m a real sucker for iris, but I typically steer clear of leather fragrances — until now. I’m glad I took the gamble on Pelle Viola, because it was an instant love and an absolutely beautiful wear. It opens with the most incredible, effervescent iris that truly explodes in the first five minutes. They’ve used a rare and expensive iris (only 500 bottles produced this season), and you can tell — it’s pure magic. The fragrance then settles into a smoky leather and saffron blend, with a touch of cardamom peeking through. I’m genuinely impressed by how seamlessly the iris and leather complement each other. The leather eventually takes the lead, but the iris smooths the edges and wraps you in a warm, subtle, sophisticated bubble. Projection is close to moderate on my skin — never overpowering, but definitely noticeable to anyone in your vicinity. Longevity is excellent: I get 8+ hours on skin and much longer on clothing. I also have to mention the presentation, which puts many bigger brands to shame. OT has clearly put real thought and effort into it: the box design is stunning, the cap is heavy and beautifully finished, and the sprayer is without a doubt the best I’ve ever used — a satisfying, long, misty spray. Top quality from start to finish. Olfactive Traveller may be a newer name in the fragrance world, but Pelle Viola shows a level of artistry that makes them one to watch.

Masterfully blended fragrance, you get different notes at different times. The best way to describe it, would be a boozy buttery suede. Addictive fragrances that provides a sensation of warmth and elegance. I could see this being ideal for 30+ patrons of both genders going out for dinner with a small group of elegant friends on chilly night. All 3 fragrances are well done and unique.

This is what a slower paced life smells like. I imagine sitting in calm at a street bistro table as the world hurries by. Not a vacation smell, but a lifestyle. One where you have the good fortune to enjoy being still. I love it.

Pelle Viola earns its place in my collection on two levels: the fragrance itself and the concept behind it. Marcelo and Kevin built something genuinely beautiful here. On skin, it delivers. Elegant, evolving, never linear.

Pelle Viola is a beautiful, full bodied Iris and suede. My Three words would be Iris, Leather, Clean. Colleagues have mentioned a (nice) memory of black shoe polish. It is complex, and I find the opening powerful but not 1 note dominant. A few hours in I lose the leathery touches and just have a clean sweet but not cloying iris cloud, warm not sharp, but not warming, not too powdery. You need to smell for yourself.

I'm an iris addict, so I wanted to add this to the collection considering the quality of iris that was used in this formula. Upon first spray, you're met with a lot of leather. That begins to transition into a clean, musky profile before the iris slowly comes out. For the first hour or so it's a nice iris accord in the sterotypical sense; a slightly makeup-like, waxy and powdery scent profile. After that is where it begins to fall short. There is a heavy amount of Ambrarome in the base which overtakes the fragrance, and when that happens it overshadows the other notes. The beautiful iris accord is muted and you're left with a standard niche fragrance profile overpowered by aroma chemicals, falling into the same categories I would place Initio, Parfums de Marly, and Mind Games into. Quite a shame, as the quality of iris used in this profile can't be enjoyed for more than an hour or so. Had it been blended with less synthetic compounds, allowing for the natural elements to shine, it would have been such a stunning fragrance profile.

"Pelle Viola" (Italian for Purple skin), an homage to Florence. I have but one word - Amore! 💜 I am no stranger to leather fragrances, having dozens in my collection - yet this one has taken pride of place. The balance of suede-like leather with the extremely exclusive iris from AFM's "Iris Blu" farm in Florence is unlike anything I have experienced before. Surrounding these key notes is an elixir of ginger, cardamom, white thyme, pink pepper, lily, saffron and oud. I refer to these as such due to how they meld seamlessly and seemingly ebb and flow with body heat. The result of which is something truly spectacular! Whereas most of my leather scents fall into situational or seasonal wearing conditions, I find Pelle Viola something I can reach for at any time - scary given its limited availability, as the batches have proven to sell fast! The complimentary fragrances in the Italian collection - "Roma 271" and "Dolce Milano" are masterpieces in their own right, and I am certain they will join Pelle Viola in my cabinet before long... Bravo, Mr Maffei!
