Safran

"Sweet saffron wine" was my first thought upon smelling this. It was an unexpected love from an Olibanum sample set. I'm somewhat indifferent to saffron, so I wasn't expecting much here, and was pleasantly surprised. There is a luscious, wine-like depth to this perfume that is missing from the more typical, austere treatment of saffron. On its own, it's beautiful, but layered with natural oud, it's MAGICAL. Oud lovers: this is one of the most beautiful perfumes I know of to layer with natural oud.

This is simply beautiful. It's interesting because it smells like a traditional sweet tobacco scent, but in a dryer, boozier, more oriental way. The saffron comes out robustly. Not too strong, but also not weak. Reminds me of TF Tobacco Vanille if it had saffron. Evocative of countries in the near east and the smells you would expect from such places. Smells unique, but approachable. I like it a lot. Will undoubtedly be a love/hate for some people. Test before you buy.

Should’ve been called tabac instead of safran imo but still very nice! The saffron is definitely present but is predominately a dry tobacco but the combination with some spices is so good, and fortunately this is one of the Olibanum brands stronger ones imo lasting up to 8+ hours you can definitely wear this on its own and absolutely enjoy it, combining it with Oud is even better will be picking up this in some capacity!

Very interesting spicy aromatic and sweet at the same time. Performance and projection are a plus.

Even when there are only four notes, Fragrantica manages to miss one: blond tobacco. Olibanum.'s description is "a leathery and elegant saffron streaked with spices and vanilla. [In which,] the refined notes of blond tobacco curl around the saffron." Smells to me like it should be called "Vanilla Tobacco", but the brand already has a vanilla flagship that I greatly prefer to this. As a man, I like to wear dry and dusty vanillas and don't like the classic TF TV much. So no surprise, I don't like the opening on this fragrance—too much like sweet candy. But after 20min it's pretty good. A sweet and spicy vanilla that's somehow thick and sticky while also dry and full of tobacco. I like this house but I'd buy several other before this one. That said, this layers well with Cardamom (for a fresher spice and amber twist) or oud (where it sweetens the dry woody oud).

Mostly just a spicy fresh tobacco, like freshly rolled cigars. A little sweet, a little fruity. Great longevity and performance.

Ordered a sample. I only applied one shy spray on paper and, to me, my whole flat smells of Jack Daniels. Forcing myself to go past the enormous boozy projection, up-close I can smell the nice spicy saffron vanilla at the center. Too bad the projection is so repulsive. This one isn't for me and while I could abide to a passerby wearing it, were it a guest I would have to ask them to leave.

At first try, I got a warm incense note which eventually becomes a spicy vanilla. I liked it very much. Reading the comments today, I learnt about the blond tobacco note and now I smell it instantly! I usually dislike tobacco in perfume -except Mugler Pure Havane- and I wouldn’t have pictured me wearing a perfume with a tobacco note (too masculine for me). But this one blends perfectly and if I don’t focus on it... it really doesn’t bother me. Such a beautiful creation!
