Oolong Tea

not quite an oolong cha, but certainly a beautiful tea fragrance. i began my perfume journey with this, i sought something recognisable and homely to me. it's a comforting initial smoky astringency on the skin that i associate with the taste of a third-steeped round of tea, which dries down to a rice-barley type tea scent. honestly, it dries down quite quickly into something sweeter than i typically associate with tea (might be the tonka bean that lends itself to this). i do think it lasts fairly long on my skin, i can wake up spray it a couple times, attend classes and come home with the scent still present. what i'm not entirely fond of is how little the projection of the scent is, it truly is something intimate that people might only smell if they came in to hug you or leaned on your shoulder. preferable for some, but i do prefer something a little stronger generally. a tip i got from the perfumer i chatted with when testing the sample was that generally one day's scents shouldn't be rubbed or tapped at all, unlike western perfumes it should simply be sprayed in areas rather than sprayed on one arm and pressed between the other wrist etc.

Absolutely gorgeous and very literal rendition of oolong. You can really smell the wet tea leaves like when they have been in the pot a little too long and are a bit pungent, but it mellows out nicely into a pure and delicate oolong with its subtle floralcy + golden hues. Just like a bottle of Ito En oolong iced tea, if you’ve ever had one of those. Not the right choice if you are looking for a perfume with strong honey. Here, the honey note seems to add a subtle animalic effect in the drydown as well as cast a soft golden hue. It’s not an obvious nor sweet honey. After it has been on my skin for several hours, I notice something in the base that is a little creamy. I’m guessing it’s the tonka. Every bit as wonderful as his Jasmine Tea! I’d love to see this guy come out with matcha and genmai-cha! Fragrantica needs to add Pu’er to the database.

On paper, I wasn't sure about it, but it blooms on my skin. The first 5 minutes or so are very smoky and the tea is very realistic, but on my skin, the vanilla, sage, jasmine, and other notes come forward quickly to balance it and it is all very well blended. Seems to project moderately for about 3-6 hours. This is like the fall cousin for Wulong Cha. Absolute love. Full bottle worthy for tea lovers. Edit: Just wore this for a super sweaty music gig on my right wrist (w/ Wulong Cha underneath my shirt and Wake up World on my left wrist) and I am definitely falling more deeply in love with it. Unique and special smoky scent for day or night, any season, but especially fall/winter, and I have nothing else quite like it. That dry down is perfect--comfortingly rich and beautiful and yet still moderately fresh, given the tea.

Wow, what an amazing fragrance! This is the first perfume that I’ve liked that smells more like Perfume rather than its concept, idea or motif. It opens up really smoky and the vetiver takes over for a couple of minutes, then it mellows down and gets more aromatic with a sweet — not waxy, sweet — honey note. I love the dark, earthy and smoky oolong tea note combined with the aromatic sage and green, soft and carnal jasmine. Like I mentioned before, it’s not a photorealistic cup of oolong tea sweetened with honey in my opinion, but regardless I am in love with it; it reminds me of an expensive, unique perfume. Even though One Day is famous for their photorealistic scents I am glad that they still compose amazing fragrances even if they didn’t really nail the oolong tea-essence for me.

This is a beautiful, photorealistic tieguanyin (Iron Goddess of Mercy) scent! I worked in a tea house for 5 years and this fragrance takes me right back to opening a large bag of tieguanyin to restock our bulk tin. The smell is earthy, dry, a hint of jasmine at the top, and grounded by honey (not in the sweet way). The jasmine and honey notes are identifiable to me, but not as independent players - it's more like those notes are what comprise TGY to begin with. They make a lot of sense here. I did get the tobacco and smoke in the beginning (lasting for maybe 3 minutes), but it didn't bother me as I also got the oolong quite clearly in the beginning as well. The dry down is fantastic and I think this is a masterpiece scent!

This is straight-up tea leaves. The opening is quite dense and aromatic. It's already hitting the 100s here in Texas, so perhaps it wasn't the best time to test it as it almost choked me out. That being said, it softens up by the 2-hour mark, and it is the most comforting scent I've had the pleasure of testing. Once settled, the jasmine and honey take centerstage, but still remain tea-like. I can see this being an everyday scent for fall if you're a fan of smelling like an herbal store. It makes me want to be at home, with the a/c at 65°F, under a warm blanket in a perpetual state of drowsiness.

One day Oolong Tea (2021) - woody smokey tea - It’s almost not common for a perfume to smell exactly what their name indicates. But #michelwong created an actual atmospheric copy of a tea salon and whiffs of oolong tea emanating from your cup. It’s also incredible that the fragrance doesn’t have a traditional perfume journey of top to base notes, but this accord throughout. To support, I also get Tonka Bean, Vetiver, and woods. Sillage throw is strong created by a well-made musk accord. Delicious.

Hmmm the initial burst does kinda smell like cigarettes and a cough drop but I somehow like that. Not obsessed but i find it compelling .... A couple hours later and that goes away and becomes really beautiful. I own the jasmine tea scent tho which I love from beginning to end sooooo so much therefore I don’t need this. But I do kinda wish the jasmine tea one had a honey note might wear it with a honey scented lotion and be good. I think this can be a summer scent too it’s not that wintery

Peak Peak Peak Peak Peak This stuff is great bro like i always find with tea scents that they just dont smell very TEA like to me but oh my god basically every tea from this line just had me going back bro on my SOUL pick this up if youre reading this review ive never known how much i needed to smell like a bag of oolong tea before i picked this up also its named after the cool ass pig from dragonball if you think about it so thats yet another reason to pick it up bro

I LOVE this. Hyper realistic oolong tea, rather sharp and strong in the opening. Then it mixes with jasmine and shockingly starts to remind me of Jasmin et Cigarette by EDLO because I do get a very faint cigarette smoke note (and I love it). It is very, very unique and gorgeous. I don't detect any honey, but honey in perfumes somehow is always elusive to my nose unless it's one single huge smack of it, like in Zoologists's Bee.

smells just like my favorite oolong from my local tea shop: a roasted oolong twig tea. on opening a very straightforward photorealistic oolong tea, a lot stronger than i expected and left me with a headache (i have a bad sense of smell so i tend to spray a lot so this is 100% on me). dry-down reveals the powdery white florals and just a hint of the honey, still underneath the beautiful oolong.

Oolong and Japanese confectionary as a description by the brand is accurate. There is an overall sweetness not quite as present in any of the other One Day tea scents. Like you had just taken a sip of tea and are chewing a very simple dessert, this tea scent presents the taste of sweetened tea to scary accuracy. Just as strong as Jasmine Tea (also by One Day) when fully dried on paper.

This is divine! Almost knocks out Tea Service as my favourite tea scent. Almost every tea scent recommended isn't tea at all, this is perfect. A ground rice note makes it soft and cozy, a bit of honey keeps it from leaning too aromatic. Highly recommend!

I'll put it simply. An abundance of paragraphs isn't needed here: this perfume is perfect--it "does what's on the box." It smells exactly like Oolong Tea, and it stays that way for the entirety of its wear.

Amazing tea fragrance. Smell like real tea and the honey smell in the middle note just take this fragrance up a notch.

2026 update : finally this scent grew on me. i managed to quick grab a fb of this masterpiece at the luckyscent website. it was out of stock really fast.... i smelled the nutty roasted oolong tea in the opening, following a scent similar to xerjoff naxxos but fresher in the drydown it has solid perfomance, 6hr on high heat weather condition is pretty good, people who complained on the performance you need to learn to use the pressure atomizer

Tea takes centre stage accompanied by soft jasmin and honeyed musk. It like having a cup of high quality tea sweetened with a honey the aroma of jasmin floating on the air. of this with some soft jasmin floating, honey musk. This perfume could work in both the autumn and spring, due to its delicate nature it would be a skin scent in the winter. Key notes from strongest to weakest; Tea, jasmine, musk, vetiver and honey. 7/10

Veryyy photorealistic oolong tea. Cold and crisp but smokey and deep. I’m not usually a honey lover but in this case it is soooo good, unfortunately it seems to come and go. Sometimes the bitterness of the tea takes over and it is a little overwhelming but right when it seems too much the honey comes back. Not bad!

surprisingly smoky, though i don't think it takes too much away from the photorealistic quality. you just opened a bag of oolong tea leaves and are breathing the whole tin in. it's like brewing when it fades: less dry, more sweet.

Smells just like opening a tin of oolong tea, very photorealistic. That earthy toasted smell is strong and can get a bit musky, so that could potentially be something you either love or hate.

Top notes: smoky oolong tea. The oolong tea aroma is authentic, but the smoky scent is way too strong. Toward the end, the smokiness fades a bit, making the tea notes more prominent.

I love Oolong tea and the opening is realistic Oolong tea, but it soon develops into jasmine and honey notes with a touch of Oolong tea. I wish the opening lasted longer.

very much like the real thing oolong is my fav to drink but i think wearing is a different story

Right off the bat I was hit with a strong cigarette smell, which slowly morphed into a very deep and heavy houjicha type of scent. For the first 3 minutes I was positive that I was going to throw up - not because it smelled bad necessarily, but because the scent experience is so thick and heavy I felt like I was stuck in a fog. I do think that this perfume is a work of art, and it's definitely an olfactory experience but I don't believe it's a wearable scent. It also leans more masculine to my nose. I definitely get the black tea and it's very strong on the jasmine as well. The dry down is much, much more palatable as it gets lighter. White / yellow florals with a tinge of sourness that makes it seem a little more mature. Longevity is moderate, projection is slightly stronger than average.

There is no way this doesn't have a tobacco note in it. All I smelled for the first 15 minutes is a strong, hyperealistic scent of cigarette, like you walk past a group of old Asian men playing chess on the sidewalk and every single one of them has a Marlboro, puffing smoke out of their mouths and cackling about something every now and then. I personally can tolerate it because of the nostalgic association. After that initial tobacco note dissipates, I can start to see the dry and smoky oolong tea. On paper this become a full oolong tea with honey accords, beautiful and dark, mysterious, silent. On me, however, it simply turned rubbery. I guess the rubber and cigar has its charm to the right people, but it's not for me.

just received my sample from luckyscent and wow she is pungent, wet, damp, a little smokey...everything that I don't want to smell like :/ i guess that evokes the smell of oolong tea pretty well, but it wasn't really what I was expecting. edit: it has been a few months and i revisited this sample again and omfg it smells like poop water on me...yuck! idk if its just gone bad or this does not jive with my skin chemistry at all

I have a sample to play around with, and I agree with some of the other reviews. This smells like freshly opened cigarette pack. The first impression is tabaco and mustiness. Then, after around 15 minutes the cigarette smell tones down and the smell is actually pretty interesting. I'm intrigued by it, but it doesn't warrant getting a whole bottle.

I don't find this one particularly wearable, but I do find it very interesting and beautifully done. The clary sage and vetiver pull a too little muddy and grassy on my skin for my taste. It does smell like a photorealistic oolong tea, unsweetened and ever so slightly oversteeped.

Never had Oolong so i can’t speak to the accuracy but this perfume will NOT project on me or stay on me. One of those perfumes I go nose blind to immediately or disagrees with me.. can’t figure out which but disappointed

A bit too sweet for me. And for some reason, I get tobacco from this instead of the earthy oolong tea smell. From this line, I like Jasmine tea best, then perhaps this and Osmanthus.

not a full review, but just wanted to say this is the most realistic tea scent I've ever smelled, strongest upon initial spray but still strong for hours after.

it's a little too musty to be wearable. reminds me of Infuse by Akro a bit. also has some nuttiness to it

Nice and accurate but WAY too sweet

Really wanted to love this one since I enjoy oolong tea and have been seeing great reviews. I was also excited to see Asian perfume makers' creations. However, the intense smokiness completely ruined it for me, even though I could vaguely detect the Tieguanyin oolong note underneath. Just as some other reviews below, this evoked unpleasant childhood memories about my father that chain smoked. I waited an hour hoping the cigarette stink would dissipate and give way to the awesome tea-ness, but unfortunately had to scrub. And it's still there after I scrubbed.

I'm an avid tea drinker, so sad to say this does not translate oolong's authentic taste and smell. Oolong is there for sure, but it is heavily masked by sweet jasmine and cloying vetiver. The resulting fragrance is mostly sweet, somewhat scratchy, and vaguely tea-like. Personally would not recommend if you do not like floral/sweet scents.

I love all of the notes listed. When I sprayed, I could smell the delicious aroma of tea, honey, rice...yum! But I was also picking something else. All I could think of was a moth ball smell. I kept hoping it would go away. It didn’t.

This smells like a very strong oolong tea with no sweetness. There’s also a bit of a smokiness to it. It’s very sharp/strong smelling. It pairs nicely with monsoon tea from D’annam.

Smells burnt and like cigarettes on me to begin with but then becomes okay when it drys down. I don't think it's very wearable. The bottle is very nice and minimalistic.

Well, this confirmed for me that I don't enjoy tea scents. Other people would describe this as "earthy," but this comes across as muddled, dirty, and unpleasant to me.

The smokey steeped tea note in this is absolutely beautiful, however the jasmine and honey quickly take over and send it into indolic urine-y territory for me.

It smells more like the breath of someone that's been drinking oolong tea. There's a mustiness to the tea I can't get past.

I effing hate sweetened tea and this is sweetened tea with honey

Oolong tea is my favorite tea, I’ve been drinking so much of it lately. Which is why I’ve been excited to smell this perfume. What a strange development this perfume had on my skin! It smelled like Private Teahouse (a disappointing fragrance) but not as intense of a smoke profile in the beginning but then evolved to something familiar. On initial spray it had a very smokey, and slightly overwhelming smell that wasn’t necessarily tobacco smoke (but the intensity of lighting a cigarette) and instead had more of a clove cigarette smell. That smoke smells similar to how someone else described (in the comments) of cigarette smoke lingering on your clothes. After maybe 30 minutes or so I was able to smell the oolong, or a roasted oolong. The earthiness of the vetiver was the transition from smoke to oolong -vetiver isn’t my favorite but it didn’t seem to radiate from my skin. There is a sweetness that develops in the background that smells very raw, unlike sugar but somewhat similar to molasses where there’s almost a rich mineral/natural type of sugar. It took a while to get there but past the earthiness smoke in the beginning, on my skin I was able to actually experience the oolong tea that has a tad bit of sweetness.

I grew up in a cigarette home. That is, my dad smoked inside the house, and my mom smoked in the car. My clothes were always caked in the scent and I couldn't escape it until I turned 18. Sniffing this scent sent me back in time to when teachers would ask me, an honor student in my preteens, if I smoked cigarettes. It's not just tobacco— I actually like the scent of tobacco. It's the specific scent of musty, acrid cigarette smoke. Now after the initial shock, I had to give it a chance on my skin. After the first ten or so minutes it becomes tolerable. I can smell some of the honey and jasmine. But even still my nose can't shake the initial association; the smoke is threaded throughout the fragrance. What's terribly unfortunate is that I absolutely adore tea. I've collected and explored many kinds for almost two decades now. Oolong is in my pantry right now. This does not smell like any oolong I have ever experienced.
