Osmanthus Tea

Got a sample of this secondhand on Mercari, sniffed it today on skin... The commenter below is right... Smells like traditional Chinese medicine... And I love it! Then again, I'm the kind of person who bought a whole kilo of 13 year aged Chenpi Bai Cha because I love the taste of it. So maybe not as safe of a blind buy if you're not an insane tea drinker. This definitely gives off floral vibes while retaining the bitterness of the tea note, overall quite similar to a very green Anxi Tie Guan Yin imo. Genuinely the best "tea!" sort of tea scent I've smelled yet. If this is the least regarded of One Day's tea offerings, I'm excited to smell the rest!!

A beautiful, photorealistic tea scent. Deep, astringent black tea with floral notes. Definitely indolic, but on my skin it's a cozy, leathery vibe. I probably wouldn't try this if I knew what it would smell like, but now that I have a sample I gravitate towards it. That little LuckyScent vial calls to me every night...I don't want to glaze this scent but I feel like it needs justice. This is the type of scent that has me thinking I should buy a whole new wardrobe and change my personality to become an effortlessly cool city girl (though it's a unisex scent and I'd love to smell it on a man). It's so so so good and definitely worth a sample!!!

I’m personally not into osmanthus as a note in perfume, but this came in the travel set, so I have 10ml of it. It smells fresh, clean and peachy, also a bit syrupy, when you first spray it, and the freshness gives way just a bit to a delicate green tea note. I detect a faint, very subdued leathery quality. The tea isn’t as astringent here as I find it in his Oolong or Jasmine Tea. The fragrance on the whole is a bit sweet in comparison to the others in this tea collection, which makes sense given the fruity nature of osmanthus. I did not sample this before receiving it with the set. I was really only interested in the other 3, however I think I’ll definitely enjoy wearing this! It’s very pretty, uplifting, interesting yet simple too, certainly an easy reach, and simply a great tea fragrance. If you love osmanthus and are interested in a very literal perfume of it, rather than all the intense leathery ones on the market, you should definitely try this. Lasts fairly well too for a tea perfume and isn’t weak and watery.

Tried from a sample dabber directly on skin. The first few minutes of this smells as close to actual osmanthus tea as you can get without it being actual osmanthus tea! As it dries down, think of drinking Jasmine tea plus some apricot and sprinkle of anise and hint of leather. A bright yet somewhat indolic floral tea, turns more soapy as it dries down. Yes there is vetiver but my skin plays very well with vetiver, very pleasant and not overpowering for me.

This is absolutely lovely - a gorgeous, floral tea. I loved it while it lasted, but sadly didn't last more than 2 or 3 hours. In the right conditions I could see it lasting 4. While it is more beautiful than Elizabeth Arden's Green Tea, for the price difference I'd be more inclined to go with a FB of Green Tea so I could burn through it at the same rate as this would need, but for a fraction of the cost.

The beginning of the scent is osmanthus, fruity and floral. The dry down is, as others stated, much more vetiver. It captures that musty bitterness of tea much more than any other One Day tea scent. Saying that, you might have to layer with a tea scent that presents much more than that in order to complicate the dry down. As powerful as Oolong and Jasmine, but less complex overall.

So beautiful, like Osmanthus Oolong. I don’t get vetiver at all (which is a note that I love). But the jasmine is there especially in the opening- it really smells like a cup of tea by a bush of climbing star jasmine. Unfortunately the silage is light and the staying power just isn’t there.

Imagine a canister of very high quality, loose leaf osmanthus tea that has been stored in an antique cabinet. Brew the tea and let it steep for hours. It’s not a delicate tea, but one that has a lot of depth. It opens with strong leather and dries down to a beautiful fruity apricot-like scent, characteristic of osmanthus, but a very potent osmanthus. This is true osmanthus—what one would smell from a bag of high quality dried osmanthus blossoms. Surprisingly, all of the tea fragrances from One Day are much darker and heavy than what one would expect from the house’s descriptions and packaging.

I have a bag of dried osmanthus in my cabinet that I took out to compare. Safe to say it is about 90% accurate. This is a realistic-but-better interpretation of osmanthus, floral, jammy, sweet but nutty and light because of the tea note. The real osmanthus leans cloying to my nose, so I appreciate the lightness in this fragrance. My only problem is I sprayed this on skin and now I smell exactly like a Quaker granola bar. Still debating on whenever or not I want to smell like that in public, but so far I am not offended.

This smells like a gift tea set I got when traveling to Singapore and Indonesia over 30 years ago. The osmanthus stands out, and it definitely smells like tea. For now, I am not sure how I feel as a perfume. I will need to spray a few more times to form a more concrete opinion. From this line, I like jasmine tea the best.

after my trip to Guilin, China: the home of osmanthus, I fell absolutely in love with the smell and taste of osmanthus. I came back with plenty of fresh and dried osmanthus that I like to brew into the most fragrant and naturally sweet tea. I got a sample of this expecting the photorealism would make it automatically one of my favourite fragrances (since osmanthus is one of my favourite smells) Safe to say im incredibly disappointed. the fragrance frustratingly has a 35% osmanthus vibe, but its immediately interrupted by the most revolting rubber tire smell which knocks this fragrance completely off course. it shares not of the floral fragrant sweetness of osmanthus and is frankly failing at what should in theory be a very simple fragrance to execute.

The opening is nice (very osmanthus-y and tea-y,) but a few minutes later it turns into a vetiver bomb. Unfortunately for me, I don't like vetiver.

Sadly this disappointed. Turns into salon conditioner smell. Not very tea centric like the others form this line! Very fruit forward and feminine.

Oof, really not a fan. Smells rather... I'm not sure, stuffy? Very stifling.

I would probably consider this my least favorite of One Day's Tea-centric fragrances. I do love the fruitiness that you get in beginning of this scent, but the dry down is a vaguely creamy, laundered and clean white floral. What I'm not picking up on as much as other reviewers is the overpowering vetiver. Instead, I think it helps balance it slightly, but the overall dry down leaves a lot to be desired. If you want longer lasting tea-specific notes, I would go with Oolong or Jasmine Tea from their line.
