I got hold of a bottle prior to it's official release and have been wearing ONE for a few days now. The creative team of Onitsuka Tiger took an interesting direction with their debut fragrance. ONE is surprisingly complex and nuanced for a mainstream designer release. The fragrance opens with zesty citruses and a touch of peppermint. Quickly the herbaceous white floral mid can be perceived, contrasted by a leathery, smoky base. Particularly during the mid, the smoky leather base is quite present, with some elevation from the white florals and incense. Once the fragrance dries down, the dark leather subsides, leaving a musky, resinous base with a white floral lift. What is interesting is that ONE feels modern, but not on-trend. It's persistent, but not a room-filler. Noticeable, but never heavy or cloying, ONE retains an airiness at all stages. A wearable, enjoyable fragrance that is not boring nor trivial. A seemingly simple, yet elevated fragrance in the style of Mark Buxton. Pretty good stuff if you ask me.

This is really interesting, Onitsuka were the brand which bruce Lee had the shoes from his Movie Game of Death. I always asked myself if somebody would describe bruce lee in a scent how would the scent smell or creating a scent for him what he represents. I mean bruce Lee were fragrances from the 60s and 70s, Rabanne pour homme came out 73 he already died then, so u can imagine what fragrances were availble in that time. But really creating for him one is a hard one. So i would like to smell this fragrnace one day. just to say yeah i can imagine him wearing this. The note breakdown looks not terrible but a note breakdown means nothing that can smell like anything.

I tried the scent in the brand's flagship store in London. The bottle nods to the yellow Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66; the typography reminds me of Kill Bill. All four scents are made by Mark Buxton – hence the classic 20–30-year-old Comme des Garçons DNA. Yet very wearable, with a couple of trendy notes ("the mojito note"). Citrus, juniper, vetiver – fresh, odd-in-a-good-way. All that comes with GREAT longevity. I love it – and I absolutely recommend trying it if you like CdG perfumes. BUT all four Onitsuka fragrances are quite hard to find, at least at the moment.
