Fouz

The opening is oddly sweet, synthetic, strange piercing citrus which dissipates almost immediately, I can tell there's creamy, musky and woody materials, cashmeran, synth sandalwood yada yada because it has this 'beach' effect. Not that it smells salty or seaside, ambergris etc... nor does it have that solar, suncream or anything of that nature but the perfume behaves like waves lapping at a shoreline, gentle but tenacious, coming back in waves and then retreating. I love the creamy, cotton, almond nature of this perfume harmonically balanced with a liquorice note/accord which works very well and is indeed reminiscent of several fragrances but non more so than the original Lolita Lempika femme. I think this has a little more of the niche, indy thing about it. I can't help myself in liking this perfume, the liquorice smells authentic to me as fleeting as it is, but it has that rooty, yet calming quality of liquorice tea, perhaps the vetiver listed in the notes is bolstering this? The almond is not some ridiculous, hyper cherry sweet, benzaldehyde nightmare, it's a subtle almost floral heliotrope type affair. And the snuggliness of the drydown is pure cashmere woods & musks but it's not too heavy still has an aspect of lightness and transparency. I've eeked out quite a lot of review for a perfume which is in essence, pretty simple, but likable. I can see how iris fits in to this picture certainly when it's settled down but I wouldn't describe this as an iris perfume, perhaps some would? Point is I like it.

It has that powdery iris vibe, but for the price I would expect more. The opening is very chemical. Synthetic and strange. Drydown is better, it becomes sweet and powdery. It’s not too musky and the licorice blends well with the iris. Fouz is a mature sophisticated iris, that doesn’t have that baby powder vibe. But! It doesn’t really project, and only lasts a few hours as a skin scent. In this price range I would definitely expect better projection and longevity. I can’t get myself to overspray it because the opening is so bad.
