Original Blend

I must say this a very simple scent but im quite addicted to this as I love this scent profile and if you go into wearing this expecting a simple but pleasant scent than I think you will love this ! This opens up fresh,crisp and has that fresh laundry,fabric softener vibe but done in a very pleasant way !! As far as notes go I get the lime and apple the most in the opening and both of these notes do stay for the most of the fragrance but as it dries down you get a slight spice and powdery vibe with some light airy musk to end it out. A very simple but addicting scent if you enjoy pleasant freshies!! Scents that this does remind me of are Burberry Touch and Hugo boss the OG as it has a muted fresh muskiness of Touch and a muted Apple note similar to Hugo Boss. Again I really do enjoy the simplicity and pleasantness of this scent and it’s so inoffensive that I think this will be perfect for work and could potentially be a good compliment getter. Performance- this projects ok for 30 minutes before it becomes a scent bubble for the duration of its life and it lasts me 5-8 hours which is decent for a fresh scent !! Overall rating -8 out of 10 ! A familiar scent profile but a very nice smell for an extremely good price ////Update This scent got me 3 compliments in a day which has only happened with Aventus in the many years of wearing frags Each person in different words said it was light,pleasant and appealing while the other waitress said it was very unique in a good way so maybe it does have more character to the average nose

The Penguin house of colognes is a 50/50 love it or hate it for me. I can’t quite make out which it is just yet. This bottle is my third purchase from this house and it’s again a love/hate thing for me. I seen the bottle on sale so I picked up 2 100ml of them. My reasoning was if I liked it enough I’d have a back up, and if I hated it, I could always return the second one. After spending the full day with this cologne I think it’s safe to say I will be returning the second bottle. It’s not that it’s bad, on the contrary I actually like it, but the performance is atrocious, on my skin anyway. Within 20 minutes it turns into a skin scent, and by an hour and half it’s gone, poof, like a fart in the wind. You really get a strong citrus in the opening, and then within 10 minutes you get that nutmeg which can be a little off putting, but the other notes jump in quickly too. From looking at the pyramid I can only pick up the lavender and some suede and amber. The wood has a slight pencil shaving type smell, similar to Hollister Wave 2, but it’s not a clone of that, it just has the same type of wood smell. Sadly, like I mentioned before the performance is really bad for me. If you want more performance from this stuff, spray it on you clothes, you’ll get a better effect. This is a 5/10 for me, it smells great for about an hour or so. If the performance was better I’d easily give this a 7. Try Original Penguin or Reserve Original Penguin, you’ll appreciate those ones more.

There are two directions super-cheap fragrances can go: 1) try to be something your not, either over complicated and complex, or realistic. 2) Simple. Fresh. Clean. The first turns into a synthetic mess that you can hardly use for a bathroom air freshener. The second, is this. Definitely blind buy worthy @$15 as long as you know what you’re getting into and don’t expect some Niche or high-end designer level fragrance

Another fragrance you get tremendous value for your money. Idk what batch I have but it lasts all day and is blended to absolute perfection. It's crisp, transparent and very unique. I can't tell what the notes are and that's how I like my scent to be. Not powdery as others have mentioned. For me this beats out many many designers going for $100 these days and I have a massive collection (not a flex)

This is like a much more relaxed, sporty version of Burberry Touch with some apple. If you like powder & spice you really can't go wrong with this one. My only complaint is longevity/projection but considering a lot of powdery scents can be overkill, this is a nice change for something more transparent and watery. And for the price I have no problem re-applying throughout the day.

I still have a batch (If it wasn't reformulated) from 2016 from my graduation. I have a few more sprays, and I haven't sprayed it since 2018. But everytime I take the lid off I can smell it. It has a special place in my heart for a few reasons... good cheap freshie.

This is a delicious citrus/woody fragrance. Longevity and silage are good on me. Starts of fresh and fruity and the dry down is still fresh, fruity and nutmeggy with some woods. Easy to love this one. Definitely underrated.

For 15 dollars or less this fragrance really surprised me by how good it was and my only complaint is probably the projection but you can’t expect to much from a cheapie

#305 in my "Tour de Fragrance" So far in this process I have evaluated some 220 eau de toilettes, colognes and a few fraiches. The far and away majority were actually fraiches at best, that no matter how labeled or liberally applied at 6AM, were undetectable to me and others by lunchtime, many by mid-morning, some by 8AM. So far I have kept only one cologne, a discontinued scent, and 12 EDTs. Original Penguin Original Blend is EDT number 12. This was a complete surprise to me. First because I'd never heard of the brand before finding it on the GiftExpress site, and secondly because it's listed here as an "Aromatic Aquatic" which without fail has meant nothing good in terms of longevity and sillage was going to happen. Not so here. This one projected arms-length at just under an hour, was still a recognizable skin scent at six, and got several minutes of nuzzling and a, "You smell really good!" from a lovely friend, who though not a supermodel, could be one anytime she gets the bug. For me it's the gold standard in compliments! The only thing that's really remarkable about this simple, pleasing scent is the endurance you get for the money. You've smelled all these notes before, and when found in combination, they are the most recognized and popular men's fragrances. If you like the Versace blues in particular, you'll be pleased to own this scent at this price!

Starts out as a spicy/aromatic fresh scent. On the drydown I absolutely get Montblanc Legend Spirit vibes, and there's a slight powder which is lovely. Think a weak Legend Spirit, less citrus more fresh spicy, with a little powder. That's not a bad thing, considering I picked this up at TJ Maxx for $14.99. Not going to win frag of the year, but a solid fresh contender you could use every day at a fantastic price. Update: 6 months later the bottle is half gone. Definitely an everyday spicy fresh frag, but with super fir/woods vibe. Other than extremely hot weather, you could wear this almost year round. Another update: 7 months later I'm still using it. Definitely a spicy/aromatic fresh vibe - leaning very woodsy. Nothing, absolutely nothing like Legend Spirit - I don't know what I was thinking. Still a great inexpensive frag. Pick this up, or any of Penguins other frags, on sale if you can.

Very simple, fresh and clean men's frag. Sillage and projection are just about right for its price point. Although you can't expect too much on this one but you can rely on it. This is quite an ideally safe office cologne with that subtle but pleasant manly dry down. Such gentle fresh musky vibe may be its most appealing feature to my honest opinion. I'll give this an 8/10 “Let us spread the scents of peace and kindness. I have the premium blend and love the bottle and like the scent. Seen this for $15 and didn't really care if the fragrance was good, I just wanted the bottle lol. Anyways as for the scent, it really reminds me of Hugo by Hugo boss. I haven't smelt the Hugo in ages but I did wear it alot as a teenager and this smells 90% similar from what I remember. It's definitely not a scent that will blow anyone away but it's nice. Lasts well and projects well on me and of course there's the cool bottle. Definitely $15 well spent.

A bit powdery up close (more so than I’d like it to be), but well blended, complex enough to stand out, and really nice in the air. Surprisingly great longevity and projection too. Something your uncle might wear to a family get together. It’s soft, well rounded and pleasant. Way better than Burberry Touch, which is a punishingly boring, baby powder BOMB.

It's a nice fragrance, Fresh, Crisp and Clean. It opens up with like fresh citrusy slightly spicy and green notes in the background then dry down is musky woody. This is perfect for the spring and summer. I really enjoy it and I like Original Blend EDT for Men by Original Penguin. Longevity is good, Highly Recommended. Rating : 7.5 / 10

This is a solid cheapie. Found it at TJ Mac for $14, you can probably get it even lower. The opening is a blast of alcohol, but it becomes quite good once the alcohol evaporates. Lemony shower fresh. Definitely worth a look if you are on the hunt for a inexpensive, daytime, office scent. Inoffensive enough to wear year-round.

Simple, fresh cheapie. I'd rather grab this than Nautica voyage. Not as strong performance than I'd like but still better than voyage. That's about the closest thing I can compare this to. I love the bottle as well. No complaints for the money spent.

Definitely wasn't what I expected based on the scent profile given; its a pretty clean scent and definitely holds true to "powdery", good for you if you sweat a lot at work. Keeps you smelling pretty decent for a solid price and the amount you get.

This is a fresh, simple scent that is quite pleasant. And given that you can pick up a 100ml bottle at TJ Maxx for 15 bucks it is amazing value for money. It's not going to set the world on fire, but it is a great scent for the price, no doubt.

I bought it for about $15 at Marshalls. Best way to describe it is just fresh. It smells like you just hopped out of the shower and are clean, lasts a while too. Not my favorite fragrance but great for the price.

Gorgeous. Perfect fresh aquatic top notes with a super high quality suede in the drydown. Longevity and projection are both excellent. A little bit goes a long way with this one.

Versatile, very light, a little green, fresh & clean scent profile, can be worn formally or casually, by any age. I detect more lime in the top than apple (but the lime doesn't last that long) + lavender, fir, musk, mild sea notes + light suede & sandalwood along with a hint of spice (the suede, woods & spice are in the background from the mid through end underneath the main players which are lavender, fir, & musk); The composition blend is very good for such a cheap frag; Surprised not to see violet as a listed note, has a light violet smell too it, that's why the comparison to Burberry Touch, and Original Blend is fresh clean and slightly powdery like Touch but not as powdery as Touch (but they're both different frags); I also get the comparison to Hugo Boss Hugo similar fir note/greenness and aquaticness but not as bold (but they're both different frags); Take Burberry Touch mixed with Hugo Boss Hugo water that composition down about 70% and you'd get Penguin Original Blend. Projection/Sillage': Light, mainly an in-close scent throughout (can't be over-sprayed). Performance/Longevity: Decent but not good, about 4-5 hours.

TLTG Reviews said it best when he said “pencil shavings”. For the longest time, I couldn’t figure out what this smelled like, but that definitely hit the nail on the head, although, I’d add “soaked in lime, and wrapped in soap”. It’s good to wear in the heat, and I wore it daily for work for about 9 months because it was light, clean, simple, and wouldn’t offend anyone. Although it must be said, I interacted with many people every day and this fragrance pulled zero compliments, not that I ever expected it to. It’s not a head-turner by any means, and by the end of the day, the scent was 90% gone. This is not something that made me wretch or gag, but it’s not something that’s going to turn heads. I wore it because I had it, and I got it cheap, but it’s not something I’d ever wear again. 5/10 Reason(s) it didn't score higher: Too linear of a scent profile; longevity is lacking.

To me, this fragrance is just kind of ok (maybe I just got a bad batch idk). It's a solid product for the price, but I think the other offerings in the Penguin lineup are just flat out better. When you first spray this, you get that burst of citrus and apple, as well as the undertones of powder and musk. As it dries down, you just get more of that sweet powdery vibe. I generally like a powdery scent, but I find that it doesn't really blend very well with the rest of the notes in this fragrance. This fragrance is just less than the sum of its parts unfortunately. 5/10 If you need a springtime fragrance and you really enjoy powdery scents, go ham. If not, probably better to poke around elsewhere. Not a bad fragrance, just nothing to write home about.

Pretty decent fragrance but I don't really get anything unique from it - when I put it on it reminds me of the beach with the aquatic notes and peppery smell to it then it turns into a sweet powdery musk - I smell bubblegum now right after adding the sweet powdery musk. I am so sick of smelling that note in fragrances. I would be a fan of it if I didn't find out about St. Kitts or Penguins version of it (Premium). I might end up shelving this fragrance or run it out - definitely won't be buying again however if you're still experimenting like I was it might be worth it at only $15-20 USD however you need to be spray happy every few hours as performance and longevity is on the weaker side.

Crisp apple (not sweet) and bright citrus before drying down to a soft and musky amber. This reminds me of early fresh men's fragrances, while others were leaning to the unisex style of freshie takes. I definitely get the HUGO vibe from this, but it's not as sweet, but just as plain, ordinary. Nothing wrong here, it's fine, great casual freshie safe enough for the gym or office, about as offensive as your deodorant. Ultimately I would never wear this intending to make an impression. It's a generic powdery blue. I got it at Ross for $15, and, honestly, I wouldn't pay more for it. It's acceptable because of the price, but it doesn't stand out at all, the projection and longevity are not very good, it's a $15 EDT so yeah, and it's a very casual scent as in a polo and cargo shorts are too dressy for it.

Tested this a couple times at Boscovs ... To me it does have an "off" note that I can't identify, not sure if its that "spinster vibe" discussed earlier or if its the suede or the nutmeg. Just something thats not agreeing with me. It dries down very fresh and powdery (it actually reminds me of Shower to Shower body powder - that's the scent I get). I agree with "EnoughScents", even with the price, sample first if you can, I think I'm going to pass on it.

I've been getting burned by the blind cheapies lately and this is the latest one. The initial blast is your typical aquatic scent but during the dry down phase I get nothing but off putting powdery nursing home vibes. At merely $15 bucks this will become my newest addition of expensive bathroom air freshener. If you're looking for a "blue freshy," you could do a lot better at this price point!

If you enjoyed the sweet, slightly minty scent of Penguin Premium, you’ll absolutely detest this fragrance. It evokes the smell of freshly sharpened wooden pencils, which is literally what it smells like. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to smell like a Ticonderoga pencil. The bottle is a nice size and weight, but the scent itself is just pure pencil wood.

$16.99 at Marshalls seems like a bargain, but buyer beware. Do not blind buy even at this price. Agree with previous reviewer that this scent carries a "spinster" vibe. I don't expect many are going for that kind of smell.

Cool bottle but that’s about it. Alcohol mess upfront and cheap smelling dry down of chemical woody powder. It was 12 dollars for a reason I guess. Reminds me of a cheaper version of a Tommy Bahama flanker! 3/10

Okay freshie with decent performance, but the pencil shaving note is just too strong its annoying, this stuff has me walking around smelling like a pencil case.

Owning all 3 of the Original Penguin blended aftershaves I would probably put this as my least favourite but tbh it is growing on me. It starts with a beautiful natural green apple and fresh lime - this opening literally lasts less than 2 minutes before the DNA of the scent takes a completely darker and spicier turn when 1st the suede kicks in then the Nutmeg comes through strong. I think I could have done without the suede as it is just too different and far too fast of a transition from the beautiful apple and citrus opening. However the addition of the nutmeg kind of neutralises the suede so the perfumer almost pulls it off. Finally in the dying embers of the scent you get a creamy powdery finish. I have to say the nutmeg really is outstanding here and does add a certain beast mode to the fragrance for a good couple of hours and that along with the all too fleeting sparkling opening are the highlights for me. 6.5/10 Overall.

Both fragrance give me an Apple Pie impression. Original Penguin has • Strong Noticeable Green Apple • Strong Spicy Nutmug • end with a tad sweet Amber It is not sugary sweet, but a mature semi-sweet cologne. Imagine spraying Nutmeg over a Tarty Green Apple Pie and you have Penguin Original Blend. Very Nice, better than I expected. Sadly, the performance isn't great. Like Boss Bottle, both fragrance only give me 1 hr projection and 3 hrs skin scent. Considering the price, I pick Penguin Original blend over boss.

It says Batch 001 by penguin on the box Not a bad scent you can just tell it's cheap from smell to longevity. It's not a modern day cheapie banger it's just a cheap "ehh well at least it doesn't stink" scent. Got it as a gift and it's hard to be greatful to be honest. The thought counts but it's not something I'd reach for since it only lasted on my skin for 2hrs and it smelled almost sour until dry down, then it's a nice fabric softener powdery type of blue vibe. 5/10 because anything under is disrespectful.

20$ at peebles last longer and projects better then some x4 its price the smell is fruity and musky good for the summer/fall in my opinion but dont put too much on u will offend old people with this one across the restaurant with allergies if u work in close proximity to girls at work it will please them but will not excite them

I thought after seeing the ingredients for this that I would blind buy. Big mistake. It smells a bit old womanish. I should have def bought a sample first but for 18.00$ on fragrancenet.com you cant go wrong if your into that type of thing.

I blind bought this, mistaking the box for other Original Penguin for Men. It smells okay, kinda generic. The projection is a bit weak for me. I probably would have passed on it if I had smelled it first.

10 minute long pencil shaving smell. Not even worth the gas driving to a store next to your house picking it up for free.

I don't know but I prefer the smell of apple in it over boss bottled
