Premium Blend

This grows on you. I got it blind based on reviews and the price point - super budget. I got it for a no brainer poolside spritz for holidays. When I first tried it at home in cold grey UK, I was completely underwhelmed. It smelled fresh and sweet, sort of like a candyfloss/cream soda cake flavouring you can get from the supermarket for £1.50, but nothing special.. I decided to take it away anyway, putting it in a 5ml travel atomiser. On holiday by the pool it transforms into this lovely sweet but fresh scent that my wife - usually never says anything about what I spray on - noticed and said how much she liked it. I used my 5ml in three days and now I'm wondering if they sell it here! (They don't). I don't really know what notes like "aquatic" and "marine" actually mean because they are applied to notes on scents that to me smell so different they are not even in the same scent profile. I think you could wear this all year, not just for summer. It's a very safe blind buy and if you don't like it at first, give it a couple of days - it's so cheap you've got nothing really to lose. I'm really glad I didn't review this straight away, it's so much better than I first thought. Possibly because the notes reviews were making me imagine it was more like Dolce Light blue (or similar fresh smell) and it's absolutely nothing like that, so on first smell I was blind sided/confused. Now I'd always make sure I had a bottle of this in my small collection, even though it's so cheap!

Man I swear nothing makes me feel better than the feeling of finding an amazing cheap fragrance that fits my style perfectly lol. This fragrance is top of the line when it comes to freshies and this one has some unique characteristics in its DNA. I’m not saying that as if ifs something you have “NEVER” smelt, but it is definitely on its own wave when it comes to fresh fragrances. I thought originally it would have had a lavender note or because that seems to be in a lot of the fresh fragrances that I seem to love and it’s probably my favorite note that I like however sea notes are a beast in this fragrance and I’m quickly learning that sea notes are starting to give lavender a run for its money as the top note to my nose. There is some salt notes in there but not too crazy, and it pairs nice with those sea notes. For some reason this has a nostalgic vibe to it but in a good way, you will have that nice clean manly smell to yourself that everyone will enjoy especially the ladies lol. This is basically in a nut shell a nice blue/sea/soapy/woody 🌊🧼🏄🪵 fragrance that is great for any man and could also be unisex but more manly to my nose. 10/10 fragrance If you like fresh clean fragrances this is a must have for your collection.

What a pleasant surprise! $15 and smells better than fragrances 10x the price. When I first sprayed it I thought it was too light, I didn't really smell much at all honestly. But as my skin warmed it up it really came to life. I think that's why it smells so much more expensive than it is. A lot of cheap freshies go on harsh and strong and then once the initial blast is over it just dies on skin and doesn't develop. No mid notes or base notes. But THIS..goes on deceivingly soft and then just starts blooming on the skin. This feels like actual perfumery instead of just room spray that happens to be safe to put on your skin (which is the category most $15 fragrances would fall under). As for the actual notes, I get marine notes and an airy saltiness at first, and then the lime and mint kick in the longer it sits on skin. The violet leaf, driftwood, and musk are also major players but it never loses the airiness of the opening blast. I think literally anyone can wear this regardless of age or gender, but this is probably more of a casual daytime scent. But it's so light and inoffensive I could see this being worn in any occasion and not being out of place.

Purchased this as a blind buy from TJ Maxx. Longevity and silage punch above what I paid (although I do overspray to get that performance). It smells terrific for a less expensive blue fragrance. It is not a designer frag but it’s more refined to my nose than many other blue frags in this class (Náutica Voyager, Tommy Bahama St. Kitts). I have received compliments from strangers on this one multiple times, which is not always the case with the other freshies I have. Some people on here have compared it to Tommy Bahama St. Kitts but I don’t think that’s a good comparison because St. Kitts has a sweetness to it that penguin premium doesn’t have. I prefer the penguin premium blend over St. Kitts for that reason (I do own both). The bottle feels premium and heavy, and the atomizer is nice. This is great at what it does and it does it on the cheap! One of my favorite fragrances because of the intersection of quality and value. I find myself reaching for it over others for a simple daily wear. My 16 year old son took a liking to it as well. I’m going to track down another bottle soon. 8.5 out of 10 overall for me.

I absolutely love this stuff!! Yes, most of what people write on here are accurate. Yes, it may seem a little basic to some, yes the performance could be a little better, yes it's linear. But you know what, it smells amazing every time I put it on. I have about 100 different fragrances that I all pretty much love, but some of those u kinda need to be in the mood for. Not this, it's so non-offensive and it surprises me how good it is every time I wear it. It's become a summer staple of mine along with Sedley. This is over fragrances like Nio, Aventus, Elysium, Cedrat. Nope, they stay on the shelf and I bring this big honkin ass bottle with me to St Thomas, outer banks and myrtle. I could go into the bright spearmint and rhe aromatic rosemary, and how the sandalwood smooths out the composition, but the truth is it just works and that's why it'll always be an absolute love for me!

I paid $12 for this, and I feel like I robbed the store. No one should have ANYTHING to complain about with this fragrance if they pay remotely close to what I paid. It only lasted 5 hours? SO WHAT, I PAID $12!!! SPRAY IT AGAIN. I have paid quadruple that for something that lasts 1/5 as long. It smells quite good, kind of in line with the Tommy Banana scents but a tad different and longer lasting. You simply cannot go wrong with this. I had seen it at TJ Maxx for the longest but never got it because I thought to myself "How good can something $12 really be?" Well, after finding myself in the doghouse for spending too much on the higher-end stuff, I was forced to dig for change in couch (jokes) and head on down to TJ's grab it to get my frag fix. The answer to how good can something $12 be? Good....really good. Value for money is off the charts.

I was amazed when I first put my nose close to Premium Blend's sprayer, as it gave me a nice feel of already smelling this type of scent somewhere in the past. To me, this fragrance is like an ice cold smell with a salty, beachy and vacation feel to it. My nose gets also a hint of sweetness, probably thanks to violet leaf note. The bottle feels and looks premium with its shape, heavy weight and frozen pattern. It obviously is describing the smell you get out of it. The box itself is also the most beautiful I have ever seen, so I do not even recommend to throw it away. Premium Blend does perform very well on my skin. 4 sprays applied on my neck ensure around 10 hours of longevity with a moderate projection. The scent is noticeable to my nose and people close to me for the whole time of wearing it. Excellent product and value for money.

This is my second Penguin. The first one I have is the Original Blend and like this one, it’s such a simple but gorgeous fragrance although with different scent profile. It’s one of my best and reliable cheapies. This one is another blind buy. Like the Original blend, this one amazed me as such a simple, clean and reliable fragrance 😉Someone commented below that this is like a combination or a DNA of Nautica Voyage and A&F Fierce and my nose certainly agree 👍 Great for daily wear. A great spring and summer 🌤️ scent, it’s simplicity makes it sexy but don’t expect much in longevity. The dry down is gorgeous but with just enough freshness and sweetness, might be good to re-apply. At that reasonable price point, you can’t go wrong with this gem and it’s okay to liberally spray. 9/10 🙌

I picked this up for $15 and would have easily paid $60 or higher. This fragrance is a very very VERY easy wear. I find myself reaching for this fragrance more than some of my designer or niche fragrances. This is probably the most inoffensive scent I own, it’s great for all types of environments. I sprayed it on my wrist to test out while looking the day I got it and was easily the best one out of the large variety they had. You can pick this one up from either Amazon or Marshall’s, I think TJ Max might carry this as well. Bottom line is you can’t go wrong with this, if this fragrance were to be discontinued I guarantee after a few years people would pay hundreds of dollars for it. It’s such a comfortable fragrance to throw on, just go get a bottle.

While looking to add to my summer wardrobe I came across this entry from original penguin. First off the bottle is great. Heavy, frosted, reminds me of a bottle of vodka...Chopin, or Belvedere. Upon first application I was mildly disappointed. It started very generic. Not that it smelled bad, it just reminded me of a bunch of fragrances. Where the beauty of this fragrance is is in the drydown. It ends up smelling so beachy. Not lotion or coconut, but like a beach. Maybe it's the driftwood note, not sure but as I keep catching wafts and it smells awesome. It's also a great lasting fragrance. I get 8 hours from this easy. Great price Great smell Great presentation Great longevity 8/10

I absolutely love this cheapy! I have kept a bottle in my collection since 2018. Very very clean fresh smell where you can smell the tequila "lime" and other citrus notes. It's not on the list and no one has suggested it, but I think this reminds me of Tommy Bahama's St Barts. I don't think It smells like St. Kitts at all... To me Kitts is kind of sweet... This is fresh. I have both bottles and I recommend all of TB set sail line for vacation frags as well. But back to this one... My wife loves it, and it is mostly one of my after shower frags in the summer. Def a Summer Day fragrance. Doesn't last very long (6hr) but who says you can't spray again? :) Enjoy this cheapy.

Finally found this at ross $15 100ML Off the atomizer smells like lime/rubbing alcohol strong. Spray, immediately smells like lime/alcohol. Drying down you can smell the lime, musk, driftwood, mint, violet. At this point it smells a little bit like the base of penguin denim without all the notes. Smells really good. After it dries 30 mins or so its musk/lime/rosemary little bit of the mint. After about 2 hrs, on skin, nadda barely can smell it. Really love the smell but its just typical penguin vintage, weak projection and sometimes you forget you sprayed it on unless you spray on like 6-10 sprays and even then. $15 worth it tho.

If you have the chance of picking this up at a bargain price then don't even hesitate as this is a beautiful casual marine fragrance. It has that beach/sea vibe right from the 1st spray. You get the bergamot, mint and a touch of lime with the violet holding it all together. In the drydown you get the musk appearing which gives it a nice pleasant smooth and relaxing finish. This punches way above what you should expect for this sort of price with a heavy bottle, nice box and quality juice. Grab it if you want a quality summer marine freshie for work or play ... this is a no-brainer. 8/10

A fine, unpretentious scent. If you took a bottle and filled it 25 percent with Curve for Men, 40 percent with Cold by Benetton, and 35 percent with almost any Tommy Bahama you have on hand, then you'd end up with this. I don't really hear much talk about Original Penguin scents, so I was surprised by how nice this is. And Treebeard's warning is a good one: Don't overuse. This seems soft so you might want to spray yourself mucho mucho. But then when you walk through a crowd, you'll hear loud plops behind you. That's people dropping to the ground with sudden and crippling migraines.

The dry down of Sauvage parfum, with a splash of the fresh preppy smell from percival/a&f fierce. Not spicey, not nose burning. I scored this for $10 at Ross. Completely a blind buy. It’s amazing lol. Go check my list, this one is for sure in the top tier. Really surprised considering I’ve honestly never heard of it or seen it. I looked at the note breakdown and thought screw it (over the batch 2). This is batch 2 the premium not original. I love this stuff. The lime salt on the top and that warm warm musk almost has a ambroxin smell without the synthetic burn.

This is strong, bright, and completely refreshing. Perfect summer scent for desert dwellers like me. It's almost harsh at first with a blast of spearmint and citrus but it mellows out quickly. Drydown is just as eric.cius describes: beachy. I get sea salt and driftwood and wafts of aromatic rosemary and sage. A very pleasant, mild spearmint atmosphere is present through each stage. Longevity is EXCELLENT...I get 4-6 hours from it. Totally underrated, completely safe for a blind buy. You can't not like this :-)

This was an instant love for me. The lime, mint, violet leaves, and salty aquatic accord create a delicious ozonic, green, aquatic fragrance with a mojito-like touch. I have gotten overwhelmingly positive feedback with this one in the warmer weather, and it is one of my most complimented fragrances to date. However, be careful to avoid this one in cold weather, as the lime becomes very prominent and astringent. In the heat, however, this is beautiful. For pocket change, this is 100% worth a blind buy.

When I saw the nose behind it is Harry Fremont, it made sense. The man knows how to design basic, crowd pleasing scents. There's nothing terribly interesting or unique about it, but I get more compliments from this than I do Greenley or Percival or AdG. This is the easiest $35 safe buy you can get. You'll love it. It's a great performer and lasts longer than expected for a $35 fragrance. Scent: 9/10 Sillage: 7/10 Longevity: 6/10 Value: 11/10

Beautiful, fresh out of the shower smell. Very good casual, cheap fragrance. I was able to pick up a 3.4 oz bottle for only $10. For the price, it's fantastic. I consider this to be more unisex, in my opinion, although I can see why someone would consider it masculine. Very musky, pleasant dry down. I'd also recommend using this as a base for layering other fragrances, as unfortunately, it only lasts a couple of hours on its own.

I recently purchased a bottle of this one. In my opinion, headnotes smell similar to Lacoste White's, very nice to wear and safe for blind buy. Don't expect any mind-blowing something because there's nothing deep or unique here, just another easy-to-wear summer fragrance and I'm glad about that. It's subtle, refreshing and low-cost. Drawbacks may include poor sillage and longevity, which could be improved by full wearing.

I picked this one up on the cheap and it is the perfect summer scent! After a blisteringly fresh opening, the scent sits close to the skin and does not last terribly long, but I love it anyway! Overspray this one—buy a 100ml bottle and use it up over the course of the summer. For the price, it can’t be beat as a great everyday summer freshie!

I must admit, this fragrance is quite mild. It’s a sweet, minty scent that complements you without overpowering the surrounding smells. It’s not a scent that can be smelled from three blocks away; it’s more of a subtle fragrance that comes out when you ruffle your shirt or jacket. Overall, it’s a lovely scent, and I highly recommend it

Had this for about a month now and its so good its such an easy wear and seems so versatile,its not groundbreaking by any means but what it does it does so well. Longevity is around 5 hours but for the price its a winner,as one reviewer said its become one of my most used frags as you dont need to think about the situation etc etc.

It's fresh. It's sharp. It's ice cold. It smells exactly how the bottle looks. It's not in your face, great for intimate settings. I think everyone should have it. I got mine off of Amazon for $20. It is impossible to go wrong, especially for the price. Don't think twice, just buy it. Once you smell it, you'll understand.

At $14.99 for a hefty 100 ml bottle, you don't even have to think about it. Fresh, simple, and uplifting. Great longevity and utterly non-offensive. It does have a bit of a 90s vibe at the top, but the salty driftwood drydown provides some depth and more complexity than you might expect. Classy and fun. Go get some!

Reminds me a little of a more laid back smooth version of Hugo Boss and Polo sport from the late 90’s. Really easygoing, innoffensive, and fresh. It has an addictive quality that keeps you coming back to your wrist. Projection and sillage are pretty weak though, otherwise this would be a full bottle buy.

To me it kinda smells like if Tommy Bahama St. Bart’s, and Tommy Bahama St. Kitts were mixed together. Extremely fresh, and perfect for really hot days. Pretty solid projection and longevity. The bottle is amazing in my opinion. Absolute steal for the low price of $15!

I absolutely love it I know it said it’s for men but I don’t care it’s a pretty good freshly. The longevity not the best but for the price I will do like I do for the ones that don’t last I over spray and reapply hehe. I found it at Tj Maxx for $16.99 what a steal.

If your able to get this for 15 bucks at tj maxx, marshalls, etc, its easily one of my favorite buys. Lasts pretty long on my skin plus has such an incredible opening. I feel like this can beat out voyage as a cheap first time freshy if youre looking for one!

Never got compliments on this so I'm assuming it had terrible sillage, but it was one I never didn't enjoy catching a whiff of my self when I'd wear it. And for a $14 blind by from Marshals where is there any room to complain

This is the best bang-for-buck fragrance I've encountered. It performs well, smells great, and is unique. It's also well-suited for the office and might get you compliments if that's what you're looking for.

The mint violet combination add depth to a creamy fresh scent, elevating it beyond just a freshie to a truly energizing scent. Nothing her feels generic, despite being made of "generic notes"

Has no business smelling as good as it does for $25. To me, it's one of the few truly marine fragrances, almost pelagic. In my opinion, this is a fantastic fragrance for Spring and Summer.

Somewhat simple but totally appropriate for a cheapie. Smells like a great icy fresh showergel. Love it personally. Easy dumb reach for casual occasions.

It smells just like a classic scent, nothing too crazy. Got it for 16 dollars and I would say that this is a very worth it purchase.

Wonderful Aquatic fragrance! Has bits of fierce dna but fresher imo. Easy to wear for most situations but mostly for spring/summer.

Picked up a 100 ml at a Ross for $14.99. WHY IS THIS SO CHEAP?!?! HOW IS THIS SOLD FOR $14.99 AT A ROSS?! This is my favorite cheapie I bought in 2021. I'm from California, so this could be used for most of the year. Sure, it's basic. Yes, it's not the most natural smelling fragrance. But holy shit is this one of the best cheapies money can buy. You can pay full retail if you want, but it's so cheap on discounters and rack stores that it's not the smartest move. It's actually quite linear on my skin: the top is tonic water mixed with some mint and some kind of green facet like rosemary or sage. There's only 1 major transition; after the top, sea notes, sea salt, and driftwood come out on top of a base of clean musk. Premium blend transports me to an expensive hotel by the beach, maybe somewhere in Santa Monica, Miami Beach, or Coney Island. The bottle and cap don't feel cheap at all; cap clicks into place securely, and the glass is frosted and quite heavy, one of the heavier bottles I have owned. It wears quite light and airy, but it lasts for quite a long time. I get an easy 7-8 hours on my skin, and it projects about an arms length for a good 1-2 hours. Perfect hot weather daily driver, perfect on the beach, could be used to run errands, for situations you just want to smell fresh and clean, or even as a gym scent. It's more casual and extremely inoffensive. I can't see anyone saying this smells terrible or smells like shit (unless you pick up on a lot of the synthetics used). I wouldn't be surprised if this garnered some compliments in warmer weather. Honestly, just pick it up. If you don't like it, gift it to someone who wants their first fragrance or needs a fresh and clean fragrance. You're not losing any money, and this is definitely money well spent on one of the cheapest fragrances being sold. You can spray as heavy as you want. Don't worry if you run out, just pony up another $15-$16 and find it at a rack store.

This smells like Tommy Bahamas St. Kitts mixed with David's Cool Water. I like it a lot. Especially for the summer. Really shines in high heat. It smells very fresh. Not particularly seductive, or anything of that nature. But it could potentially be worn to any occasion, event, etc. Unoffensive. Good value for the money On first spray I definitely thought this was Tommy Bahamas St. Kitts. When it dries down I thought I was catching wafts of cool water lol. It does get compliments. You can't get anything better for the price. I think I found mine for about $15. The bottle is really heavy and feels more expensive than it is. I really like it. I've smelled other fragrances with the SAME projection, and longevity for 10x the price. There's one by Jo Malone? (If I'm not mistaken) I think it's sea salt and cedar. This reminds me of that. Anybody reading this I urge you to try the cheapie market. Nobody cares how much $$$$ you spent to smell good lol

This is my very first review, I don't consider myself a connoisseur, and my mother language is Spanish (I prefer the English-speaking site for several reasons), so my reviews will be short but I'll try to be clear and straight to the point. It's a decent fragrance, a beast for its price point; the marine character is the obvious main one, but the citrus, green and woody notes are not left behind. If you apply yourself lightly, it will not offend anyone, but if you spray yourself too much, you might ruin the experience. If you are used to "better" (or more expensive) fragrances, you may notice the 'inexpensive-ness' of it, but then again, for the price point, is a very good choice, perfect for hot weather, specially in day time. Perfect for young people, and maybe not so young men who want a cheap, casual summer-time everyday scent, for sunny-day road trips, the beach, after the gym, and even non-important days at the office.

I saw a couple (mostly positive) reviews of this fragrance on YouTube and saw that my local Marshalls had it for $15 so I picked up a bottle. It opens pretty generic with a very familiar designer citrus/aquatic scent but improves as the scent drys down. The sea notes with the sea salt combined with the driftwood and musk really make this a nice casual summer offering that evokes a beach/nautical feeling without smelling like cheap suntan lotion or a pina colada. Longevity and sillage for this is pretty much average for the type of fragrance it is. I'm getting between 4-6 hours on my skin with the first 1-2 hours projecting a little more than an arms length. I see this as a very casual summer scent. An easy grab and spray for running errands on the weekend or heading to an outdoor picnic/festival. I wouldn't personally wear this to work but can definitely be pulled off because it's totally inoffensive. 7.5/10

This is one of those fragrances you'll swear you've smelled before on someone or somewhere. I might have smelled this or the Tommy Bahama St. Kitts that this gets compared to. This is so refreshing! This smells absolutely pleasant and easy going. It's very fresh and perfect if you just want something simple and good. Sometimes I think I might of had an Axe spray that might have smelled like this when I was a teen and that's where that familiarity might come from. For 15 dollars this was a no brainer for me. This would be perfect for the gym and even a date with a pretty woman. Salute to Harry Fremont! This is a nice fragrance and so far every Original Penguin fragrance I've tried is very good! I always feel like Harry Fremont knows the American market pretty well. He always hits the bulls eye for me. I give this an 88/100.

I wore Premium Blend to work for a week this past summer. Today I let loose on the trigger and wore this to the gym. I downgraded my rating to 'ok' from 'Like' because the performance is just not there. It's currently 5 hours after application and its a skin scent. That's actually decent performance for a $17 fragrance but I do not feel it projecting, and I want my fragrances to project. Premium Blend should have been projecting heavily while I was working out but it was only an intimate, elbows length projection. I love the sea salt note which makes it pretty unique in my collection but Premium blend is too subtle for me. I can't seem to sell it so I might use this as a base for layering a la Molecule 01 in the future. I might layer it with my Grapefruit & Sage I've been meaning to try; so not a total loss. 5.9/10

Just got for Christmas. It smells pretty good, a fresh icy mint bomb, with a hint of zest, a little hint of cucumber and marine/salt in the background. I like it, but I would never wear it outside the house because it lasts like a fart. I can barely smell it after like 30 minutes of spraying, I swear it becomes a skin scent, my brother said the same thing. So now it’s my main bottle to just use up around the house just to make sure I’m always smelling fresh. Out of all the notes I always just smell peppermint the most, so it gets a little boring but it’s pretty nice. If you see it for around $15 and need something to just spray around the house or maybe bring along for a pool day, this is the perfect one for you.

Penguin Premium Blend is an aromatic, fresh and herbal fragrance. Its opening is fresh and slightly citrusy, but it quickly becomes more herbal due to violet and mint leaves, which give a sensation of cleanliness. It finishes with a base of musk and woods. Its aroma is clearly masculine, with some resemblance to other fragrances, but ultimately very pleasant. It is a fragrance to be used in any season of the year, mainly in casual situations or outings with friends because its aroma is quite pleasant and not very intrusive. His duration with me was 6 hours. at most and a low sillage. Despite that, I find it an attractive option for its low price. It could be bought and given away blind.

Citrus, Green, Slightly Aquatic, Woods with Musk. Nothing groundbreaking. Smells like a nice fragrance for warmer months. Not bad for the $15 i got it for from Burlington. Synthetic? Yes...as to be expected for this price point. This would be a good signature scent for someone who doesn't want to spend tons of money and is pretty versatile. Nothing offensive, projection is light as well as sillage. I'll probably wear this to grab a quick lunch or run some quick errands. Bottle is heavy and presentation is nice. I've done much worse at this price point. Collectors and enthusiasts will find this pretty boring, for the everyday person, most will like it.

Gives the feeling of catching a whiff of the ocean at a distance. It's a light and airy lightly salted mint citrus melony aquatic. For the price and versatility of this scent I have to give it a love. For the smell alone it's a solid like. Since it's got an airy light quality you can potentially overspray and give yourself a headache so go light / moderate on the first couple uses. Or, take more care as to spray locations, i.e. not right on the front of your neck / chest. Today I'm enjoying layering this with IsoE / Molecule 01 to get a bit more staying power. I'll update this review if anything changes over time.

An incredible value for $14.99 from Ross/ Marshalls, it's fresh, zesty, aquatic with a nice slight musk drydown. Performance is decent as with a lot of aquatic/ freshies but at $15 a bottle, you can overspray your heart away or reapply as needed. It's not a groundbreaking scent... it's one that people will tell you that you smell good as you walk by, but not great enough to ask you what it is. Definitely in the same vein as Eternity, Fierce, and original Curve. Also gives me an Egoiste Platinum vibe. Perfect for spring!
