Signature Blend

Smells great, and it is an amazing cheapie! Worth buying as an all-arounder, overspray for compliments, signature scent for all ages (likely up to the 40s). Nothing I have smells quite like it, very shower gel-like, and ultra versatile. It performs okay, but sure $20 or less you get a lot of bang for your buck.

Surprisingly interesting. Penguin (especially the blend collection) is very good, especially for the value you’re getting. I honestly prefer Premium Blend cause it’s like being at the poolside on a summer’s day, but this is surprisingly nuanced, definitely has more going for it than Premium Blend. Found it at a Burlington for $14.99 (same price for all Blend bottles at rack stores in LA and Syracuse; don’t know about other areas). The leather here isn’t brash; comes across suede like. Slightly cooling vibe even though it’s more of a darker scent profile. I do get a slight alcoholic drink, too. Pimento is prominent in the opening, adding to the nuances this fragrance has to offer. Better transitional season fragrance, could be worn most of the year. Does lean more mature (30+), which may be the reason I don’t like it as much as Premium Blend, but for $15 this is one of the better cheapie fragrances you can acquire. Arm length projection with about 4-6 hours of longevity off of my skin, but projection and longevity are different from person to person. Day or night appropriate; a decent cheapie signature scent for anyone interested in something like that

Really unique smell for a freshie and I like this but don’t love it!! (To be fair leather is a note that usually doesn’t go well with my skin chemistry) It’s a fairly linear scent on my skin with the exception of the opening is very bright salty,fresh with that lime and as it dries down that leather really shines but it smells more like suede than leather. This really to my nose smells like if you were sitting on a leather couch by the ocean. Sounds weird but is actually kind of nice!! Still though, it’s not my favorite scent and a scent that o have to be in the mood for and one time when I was in a 7/11 a guy in the store said “Something smells like a shoe store in here” which was probably me 😂 so I did receive some not so good feedback on this but I can see a lot of people loving this as it is unique. Performance on this is actually pretty good ! It projects nicely for 1 hour but is a noticeable skin scent when up close and lasts 6-10 hours on my skin !! Overall rating - 6 out of 10 ! For the price it’s great but you have to like leather or suede. However, if you do like suede and looking for a summertime leather fragrance this will suit you perfect !! For me this was only ok !!

#306 in my "Tour de Fragrance" After Original Penguin Original Blend, which is a nice scent with acceptable performance and a mild suede note I like a lot, this was a disappointment for me on the performance, and for the weak leather note, so weak you almost think you're imagining it. No detectable skin scent by lunch despite very liberal application. So, for me not a keeper. At $22 it's not surprising that performance is indifferent, but Original Blend performed more like a $60-80 EDT, whereas this scent performs more like Ferrari, Adidas, Yachtman, Cuba Paris, basically like a fraiche, not an EDT. So, smells fine for a bit, performs like the bargain fragrance it is. This goes to the men's shelter

If "Drinking a martini in the lumber aisle of Home Depot" was a fragrance, this would be it. This is the only bottle in my fairly small collection that I truly can't stand.

Smells like a pile of decaying leaves.

Can't complain for €17/100ml. On paper I was a bit disappointed as I got a punchy and harsh blend built on strong woody-amber base, just on the edge from being too screechy and noisy like similar woody bases in L'eau Meajure d'Issey, Megamare, YsL Y flankers, Invictus and many many more that overtook the men's fine fragrance trends in the last decade, beyond limits. The woody-amber harshness is somewhat masked with cinnamic, fruity and leather notes, reminds me of Coca-Cola smell. On skin, it's much better, though the woody amber notes are not sticking out like on paper they still make the core. On top there's more velvety tone like Cashmeran, I get a hint of raspberry ketone (imagine the pink-red fruity hue of Tuscan Leather), and the leather note is more prominent than on paper. The leather note is not the fresh-sharp-rhubarb-vetiver smelling Isobutyl quinoline type (imagine Ombre Leather, Encelade), but more like the smoother, suede kind (Suederal?). There's a slight hint of smokiness to the leather too, like guaiacwood. I still get the cinnamic Coca-Cola note on skin, could be a combination of Coumarin x Cinnamon with herbal/spicy touches like coriander, black pepper. I get zero salt, but that is very subjective of course - leather and smoky woody notes can also evoke a salty sensation. It definitely smells as good as some perfumes that are marketed 5x, 10x of its price, definitely better than most Montale, Mancera perfumes. In a Tom Ford or any designer bottle, this juice would not smell odd. It's just as good. So for value this is a great affordable spicy woody leather scent. I think it will shine with 1-2 sprays max, and will smell better in its sillage. Update: Late late drydown on skin (10 hours mark) - It is heavenly as a skin scent. Sticking my nose in, the woody amber harshness is completely gone, there are traces of green-galbanum/pineapple x basil combo reminiscent of Calvin Klein Truth DNA and I can now get a marine note similar to Calone too. Quite an interesting journey this, definitely intriguing for more wearing. Pleasantly surprised.

Smells just like ice. Just kidding who says anything smells like ice? This is warm and spicy and the dry down smells a bit like Goodfellow Juniper sage something. It’s good for colder weather I’d say, not full bottle worthy. I respect the absence of sweet notes. Thank you for that. Don’t overspray, or you will likely get a headache.

In the notes listed above, my simple nose gets all of them...except for the leather. Instead, I get a sexy black-pepper. I agree with others here, this is a gem of a cheapie! Happy to have this in my 500-strong collection. P.S. I think the bottle is kinda cool too.

Not only is this the worse smelling fragrance from the Penguin line, it's one the worse fragrances I've ever laid my nose on. I've even resorted to using this as a bathroom spray and it's not even suitable for that. If you like smelling like a wet dog, have at it!
