Muguet Fleuri

Fresh, Dewy, Lily of the Valley Soliflore This is an olfactive portrait of a bed of lily-of-the-valleys covered in the fresh morning dew of spring as a warm light dances through the trees. The fragrance lives up to its namesake and unabashedly proclaims the splendor of the queen flower of perfumery (assuming Rose is the king). I picture a dainty fairy prancing on the leaves while using the bells as cups and drinking the morning dew. This gives enchanted wild garden vibes. It is the scent to complete a flowy olive jacquard satin midi dress with lace trim. If it were a painting it would be Spring by Alphonse Mucha. It also reminds me of The Lily of the Valley illustration and poem by Cicely Mary Barker Gentle fairies, hush your singing: Can you hear my white bells ringing, Ringing as from far away? Who can tell me what they say? Little snowy bells out-springing From the stem and softly ringing— Tell they of a country where Everything is good and fair? Lovely, lovely things for L! Lilac, Lavender as well; And, more sweet than rhyming tells, Lily-of-the-Valley’s bells. I do love a good soliflore, and while other notes are present, Lily of the Valley is the clear focus and star here. Flowers produce as many as 100 different scent molecules and are, on their own, very complex scent profiles. Modern perfumery prefers to inundate our senses with large full bouquets of flowers, which ironically muddies beautifully complex floral fragrances into a barely discernable "floral cloud." While I do enjoy a good floral bouquet scent, I love the simplistic joy and grandeur of this perfume. This makes me feel dreamy and whimsical. If you can't tell, I really like this, but I only wish the longevity was a bit better. I layer this with some lilac essential and jojoba oil, and the lilac blends beautifully, while the oil helps increase the longevity of this. After hearing Jeff and Jane Dashley of the fantastic podcast Fragraphilia express their appreciation for Muguet Fleuri, I had a hunch that I'd like it a lot. Many of you already know that I am very fond of Oriza L. Legrand and I felt there was room for just one more. I felt like wearing a lily of the valley fragrance in July might be like listening to Christmas music in February: a bit of a pang in the gut that a holiday had just recently passed and that it just wouldn't feel right. Really, that is absolute nonsense, though, as wearing it on a hot day gave me a renewed appreciation for this classic accord, not to mention that this approach has an aqueous, cooling sensation perfect for the summer swelter. As someone who was raised with these flowers blooming in our yard every May, I know what it should smell like, and Muguet Fleuri is affirmatively lily of the valley among fresh-cut green grass and budding trees after a light shower. There is also the dewy garden effect that pleases me to no end. I am amused by the other reviews that appear to be written by those who may not be acquainted with the perfume of this flower, and even suggest that this is a "fantasy note", which I rather associate with those notes for flowers or other matter than doesn't have a scent in reality. On the contrary, those who know muguet are aware that there is very much a real and unforgettable scent to these flowers. They do in fact have qualities that are soapy (mostly due to its association with muguet accords used in fine soaps), waxy, rosy, pear-like, bitter, and so forth. Lily of the Valley lovers, do take note! It is a celestial joy.

This lily of the valley, the second in my LOTV sampling journey after vintage Diorissimo, is a beauty that pulls at my heartstrings. While vintage Diorissimo seems to be the gold standard for LOTV amongst reviewers, Muguet Fleuri can certainly hold its own in this realm. I find Muguet Fleuri such a brilliant interpretation of this seemingly delicate white flower. I say seemingly as I smell -- as well as the crisp, fresh, white baubled blossoms -- a vein of mischievous green that lends itself to the poisonous nature of the LOTV plant. Crunchy green violet leaves with a pithy lemon note, bitter and acerbic; bright without being sour, traded out for classic aldehyde to deliver a natural feel; a little redolent of a drop of civet. Galbanum and oakmoss preserve elements of a classic prototype, yet Muguet Fleuri retains a somewhat minimalist structure, and far from the screechy, synthetic one-note air freshener type lily of the valley scents. Into the drydown, a slight creaminess evolves, ever so subtly suggesting a single greenish-white velvety petal of an Easter lily. Angelica brings a hint of musky sweet spiciness. I quite prefer this over Diorissimo, only for its lack of lilac (I do love lilac but prefer my LOTV without it), and it's updated, natural presentation. I believe Muguet Fleuri to be the modern day standard for muguet soliflores.

A glorious realistic bouquet of lily of the valley. I own a full bottle and I treasure it because it's such a beautiful pristine smell. I often like to combine it with Tourterelles de Zelmis, a very pretty realistic red rose scent from Oriza. This combo somehow makes me feel so ethereal, like I belong in a painting. This is probably what I would wear if I ever get married (considering I don't change my mind by then!). I believe Muguet Fleuri is quite underrated and it is most certainly the best lily of the valley fragrance out there. It does not smell soapy on my skin and it lasts about 5 or 6 hours. The projection is mid but not weak. A win! EDIT: Alright now that I have a beautiful bouquet in front of me I can compare to the fragrance... I'd say the real thing is greener, fresher and lighter than OL's Muguet Fleuri. But delicious nonetheless!

This scent is magical but it does break my heart a little, as it doesn't last very long. Upon first trying this I thought that I had found 'the one' perfume. It is a quite realistic, green and sparkling lily of the valley with a trail of bubbling floral sweetness. The sweetness is slightly fruity, like pear or pear blossom. I can picture myself standing in a spring forest during that time of spring when it all returns to life, when the spring flowers bloom, shorter than the summer flowers, but much more intensily, while sipping on a glass of fruity cider and just observing it all. The perfume can take you there, something only a few perfumes can achieve. It is a magnificent floral, so pretty, so charming.

A lily-of-the-the-valley soliflore that smells like something from a nostalgia-tinged art nouveau illustration. Rhe reviewer below mentioned Spring by Alphonse Mucha, which is very apt! Green grasses, violet leaf, and lots of freshly bloomed white lily accompany this whimsical poem to muguet. Oriza L. Legrand’s graceful, classical interpretation of lily-of-the-valley has won me over— a feat few other attempts at this note have managed, and none as effectively as this one. Wonderful on a hot day, and even more perfect, perhaps, in spring. It is, without a doubt, a must-try for anyone exploring lily-of-the-valley.

Best perfume I've tested from Oriza. Green, white, dewy... I'd say it's a spring fragrance but wearing this in autumn when it's cold and rainy is nice too. It's evocative and it's a strong fragrance with a beautiful dry down. Most white florals do not smell good on me but this one is an exception, it's does not get too soapy too soon. I will probably get a full bottle. Also when you spray it the room smells for a good amount of time, which is a nice bonus. I was drew to Oriza for relique d'amour but Muguet fleuri gives me what I wanted, a true and intoxicating white flower that stays with me for the day.

Muguet Fleuri by Oriza L. Legrand is one of those fragrances that left me speechless! It instantly reminded me of Rievaulx Abbey in England. The last remnants of the beautiful stone abbey are surrounded by the greenest grass and when I visited there was woman selling little bundles of lily of the valley, as it symbolizes innocence and purity. Its smells of grey cloudy days and rain showers in the garden. A soapy clean white floral with dewy green petals. I absolutely love, love, love Muguet Fleuri and I highly recommend this fragrance to lily of the valley lovers. Truly a natural beauty of a fragrance!

This is the best classic muguet I have ever smelled. Green, just a little bit dewy, smooth, no harsh edges and the drydown is beautiful.I have and love both Diorissimo and Cavatina and, while the first has just a bit more of a vintage vibe than I would like and the latter is woodier and sweeter, Muguet Fleuri captures the exact feeling of voluptously burying your face in a lilly of the valley bouquet and then wandering through the meadows on a warm spring morning. The soft smell stays with you and quietly turns into fresh and slightly sweet greenery, graceful and never missing a note.

If you love lily-of-the-valley like I do, you are going to fall in love with this gorgeous green floral! It is a muguet soliflore. It's so true to the actual flower. It opens for just a few seconds with a note of green, freshly cut grass. The heart is pure muguet. In the base a little of the oakmoss comes into play, but very, very subtly. This smells so much more like spring-time to me than Deja le Printemps. This is like tiny, delicate muguet covered in cool spring rain. I think this might be what Heaven actually smells like.

Real lily of the valley sometimes has a funk to it, something dank or bitter. This has none of that. Muguet Fleuri is almost an idealized lily of the valley, cleaned of all mud and decay. It's hard to convey the purity of this scent: a purity that's almost without sweetness. The first hour is pretty heady with a tinge of crisp greenery, but it doesn't develop or change from there, it only fades. By hour 3 it's a skin scent on me, and it's completely disappeared by hour 4. It's beautiful, though I wish it lasted longer.

This is the best of the Oriza line. A beautiful lovely fragrance. My bottle doesn't look the bottle you have pictured. The bottle I have is a large bouquet of flowers on it; very beautiful.

I have a huge patch of Lily of the valley in my garden and this perfume smells exactly like when I just watered that area. Perfection and exactly what I was looking for!

Opens with unapologetic strength, room-filling and long-lasting, at least in my experience! perhaps my skin bodes well with earthy/floral scents. Muguet Fleuri is unmistakably floral, lush, photorealistic, and evocative of the garden section in a home improvement store. It is not a shy, powdery floral. Rather, it is pungent, thick-smelling and antique, absolutely a lily of the valley soliflore. It's very green and aqueous, like crushing a flower between your fingers and sipping the dew, as if the fragrance were squeezed directly from the flower’s veins. This reminds me of Ylang 49 in its petal-y photorealism. I'd describe this as being chilly, elegant, bold, melancholic but also whimsical like a fairytale. It smells mature, even maternal or big sisterly, or like a beautiful stranger you’ll never see again. However, there is one distinct drawback. it smells Nair Aloe and Water Lily Body Cream after a while? a faintly sulfuric, chemical tone. But I don't really mind, it's only there if you sit with this fragrance for a long time, and even then it's not that offensive. I did have one person think this was too intense for an office setting. I'm very glad I tried this and not Lily of the Valley from Penhaligon's, as I think I would have been sorely disappointed. I want my perfumes to be bold and unapologetic, and this one is absolutely that.

Sharp chlorophyll-ic green very retro Lily of the Valley on a mossy base. It's the most retro fragrance of this house I tried so far. This could easily be a discovery from your grandma's (or great grandma's) dressing table - and I don't mean this in any agist way, it is just that a dominant Lily of the Valley like this is really much a common thing of the pre-1950's. Not very multi-facetted maybe, but still very nice and nostalgic. I find it very enjoyable and could imagine getting a smaller bottle of it at some point. It does create a decent scent bubble and does have 4-6 hours of longevity on me. If you like Lily of the Valley and older retro vibes in general, try to get a tester of this.

Lily of the valley is a fantasy note in perfumery. That being said, this is an amazingly well-executed, realistic interpretation of the flower. It also possesses the classic Oriza DNA- wet wipes, this time with nuances of baby shampoo. Clean, bright white florals reminiscent of a beautiful early spring day are combined with the smell of grass after the rain. I agree with a few of the people I tested it with that it smells ever so slightly synthetic, and I believe that should be noted. Overall, it evokes a calming, nostalgic feeling for me; I am reminded of my grandmother bringing us a small bouquet of the first spring flowers of the year.

You have to love intense smelling florals to love this. Yes, there is a big dose of muguet to open with but the lily is nearly as strong so this is no soloflor. The violet leaf and moss make it even more edgy so you know what to expect. There is freshness from the galbanum and green notes. The muguet, lily and violet leaf only ease up a little in the first hour and then the angelica, galbanum and moss come more to the fore. Its nearly linear. A gorgeous fresh spring fragrance. I think the angelica probably stops it becoming soapy. Good sillage and longevity.

The first time I smelled this, I wanted to go straight for a FB. I love LOV, and this definitely hits the nail on the head as far as accuracy goes (most LOV frags smell either soapy or powdery and nothing like the actual flower - it's really hard to find a good muguet soliflore). However, smelling my sample again a few days later, I realize that while this is a very convincing muguet, it's more of a Demeter-style fragrance. Very accurate, but linear and somewhat cheap-smelling. Makes it smell more like a detergent than anything else. But an impressive one!

A true green white floral! Though lily of the valley is a fantasy note (its essential oil can’t be extracted) this perfume makes it feel as if you’re smelling a real flower. Watery, fresh, green, and full of dewy white blooms. A scent of spring. It carries a naturally clean, slightly soapy character. Not the kind that wows, but serene and pure... It starts very green and bitter, with a healthy dose of lily of the valley. A bit sharp smelling up close, but lovely from sillage. As it dries down, the fragrance becomes rounder, aromatic and more natural smelling. It is a big floral perfume with the bitter note transformed into sweet and sour. 7/10

The best lily of the valley scent of all time. Bravo! A little fresh and green where the natural blossom is powdery but great silage.

Like it. Very perfumey flowers that are very watery and dewey. Has a very slight paint thinner edge that turns it from love to like.

Smells like the Bubble liquid you dip a bubble wand into. This makes it somehow very whimsical and i love that there is a perfume out there replicating this very nostalgic scent, but its not for me. I still apprechiate the history tough and i am grateful to have smelled it. Very unfortunately the beautiful bottles displayed on fragrantica are not available anymore. I would have bought some oriza perfumes even if i didnt like them just for the absolutely gorgeous bottles but alas they are no more.

Muguet Fleuri by Oriza L. Legrand is a perfect lily of the valley fragrance. The scent is green, slightly soapy, and delightfully inebriating. It brings to mind Diorissimo but with a softer, more intimate character. Ideal as a comforting and elegant bed-time fragrance.

I can smell the green I suppose but overall a very soapy floral. Romantic scent i suppose. Overall, mixed feelings

I realy wanted to like this, but on me there is a stong soapy-waxy smell that come up after the opening that is ruining the nice lily of the valey smell.

The name and the note pyramid say it all. Muguet. Muguet. Muguet Fleuri. ...and a classic array of green notes along for company. So make no mistake, a bright green muguet, ...Sharp? Yes, ...but not too sharp. Well-blended indeed, even the wet opening remains acceptable ...and it does improve from there. Of course muguet is a constructed accord, open to interpretation and whim. Imagine a very green rose, then go greener still. Imagine a green peony, yet greener still. Now, you may have some idea of this green muguet. I don't have too many muguet fragrances on hand to compare. Yes, muguet done well can be an extraordinary note, ...but it sours so easily, and to such a sickening degree. Demeter Lily Of The Valley is the other extreme of muguet, ...only a softly tart and sweetly watery thing, a bland muguet made for infants. As I recall, Maison Margiela's Replica Lazy Sunday Morning is a musky muguet mess that literally nauseated me, But smelling it again now, it comes off as at least halfway between muguet and rose, ...though later it does become mostly just muguet, ...and a sour muguet at that. I also consider the truly lovely Jessica McClintock to be a muguet scent, but unlike Muguet Fleuri, it is hardly a soliflore. It starts off more complex, with jasmine, bergamot, rose, and ylang-ylang, ...only later in the drydown, does the muguet accord dominate, ...and at that point, McClintock and Muguet Flueri are somewhat similar, ...though of course, the latter still plays much more brightly green. Oriza L. Legrand's Muguet Fleuri is reportedly based on an early formula from 1920.

Lily of the Valley is one of my most loved notes but rarely is it presented in a way that I love! Perhaps I was ruined at a young age having owned both Coty’s exquisite Muguet des Bois and later Dior’s masterpiece, Diorissimo! Despite the sad truth that the perfume of this delicate bloom cannot be extracted and that all fragrances are synthetic, it is a flower scent that evokes the essence of the month of May! Green, sweet, tender and hopeful. Most muguet fragrances I have tried were far too sharp, camphorous, insipid, synthetic or just plain soulless. But, in a very wonderful, recent swap I received this gorgeous work of art by the esteemed house of L’Oriza L Le Grand. Not only is the bottle a vintage style delight but the perfume takes one on a journey of stark verdant notes, cool mossiness and arrives home with the soft and sweet scent of lily of the valley. Truly distinctive, well crafted and challenging to the modern perfume lover, Muguet Fleuri is like a gift from the past to be treasured.

Muguet Fleuri is a spot-on Lily of the Valley scent, with a rich, waxy white Easter Lily (rare) in the base. There are more than a handful of green notes, and I am happy to report that these were all handled with a masterful touch, as I believe that another Oriza L. Legrand offering, Deja du Printemps, was ruined due to an overdose of green. I am thrilled that there is no musk to be found in this resplendent homage to the spring season. There is some oak moss in the base that keeps things somewhat grounded, but this fanciful floral fantasy is more of an ethereal experience than something earth-bound. Muguet Fleuri is a happy romp through sweet lily and violet fields in the springtime with songbirds chirping and someone playing a light and airy piano piece by Maurice Ravel in the background (Le tombeau de Couperin: Prelude comes to mind). As with all Oriza L. Legrand parfums, the retro packaging is artfully done. Sadly, below average longevity.

Lily of the valley and muguet listed as separate notes is weird, coz they are the same thing, from what I understand. This is definitely mostly lily of the valley on me. There are some great green leafy notes to cut up the super sweet scent I associate with childhood and little girls, and some of the under-notes give it a nice yellow pollen angle that makes it seem more realistic and less Liddle Kiddle Kologne. Overall, this is really pretty, light and soft without being cheaply sheer. If this were colors, it would be stripes of pale yellow and verdant spring green. All that being said, it’s too much LOV for me.

A rather dry, waxy white floral scent. Quite soapy but with sweetness being dialed down it really just adds an effervescent quality to the scent. Lots of supporting crisp grassiness aswell as a big dose of galbanum which works wonders in this composition and really makes it pop. I have a high tolerance to indoles but I wouldn't call this very indolic. Just a touch which is always welcome for that sensual & inviting feel. Fantastically uplifting and 'fresh' without any citruses. Beautiful!

Just dropping in on my first wear of this. Went out into the forest today and picked a whole bouquet of Lilies. Now having them in pots around the house. When going in between the fresh flower and my wrist the similarity is striking. I'd say the grass note adds some bitterness and greenness and there's some different things going on, but for the most parts it a very realistic and gorgeous Lily of the Valley scent.

Definitely a dominantly lilly of the valley scent, but the oakmoss, galbanum and angelica add too much of a bitter edge to this. I personally prefer it to have less character and a bit more happy-go-lucky. I didnt give it away like I usually do w perfumes I don't like thou. The bottle (which does not look like the photo provided here) and the box are just tooo beautiful.

This is by far the best modern post-IFRA muguet perfume. It floored me when I smelled it, I was NOT expecting anything this good considering all the IFRA/EU restrictions on materials that were once used to recreate the LOTV aroma. I don't know how thy did it, but it's really wonderful, so beautiful that I got a bit emotional smelling it. A must-try for LOTV fans!

This is recognaissable lily of the valley scent, with some adds of green grass, galbanum and oakmoss. It’s like smelling lily of the valley growing in it’s natural habitat – forest or meadow, so there are some very essential elements present here. I think this is very, very cleverly done scent. A lovely part of the nature.

On my skin it's extremely sweet and soapy. I could tell that the violet leaf perhaps added to the soapiness, but I couldn't detect any grass note or galbanum or angelica throughout its life. It's a lily of the valley bomb with lots of soap and honey, with pleasant silage and lasts about 4 hours on me.

Muget Fleuri, a pure LotV scent, not much going on, a bit boring. I'm not bowled over, because I've been using Kai a lot and it smells close to that.

This opens strong green and then drys down to lily of the valley. I’m a huge lily of the valley fan so I had to have this.

A bit too sharp for my taste, but it conjures up the scent of a springtime garden beautifully.
