Cross of Asia

[Malaysian, works in air-conditioned office environment] I've never heard of this house before but in one of my visits to a local perfume shop, I asked the sales assistant to let me try this perfume. I was instantly wowed. To me this is a beautiful balanced citrus and white floral perfume. I can't find the official website to see its actual description but I smell something fruity in here. This could be in the same scent family as Trussardi Donna, but Donna is more transparent and tea-like. This is more white florals. I don't like white florals without any fruits balancing it, I love this. It really evokes the colour white, it's clean and refreshing. Very feminine, very pretty. I bought a full bottle almost immediately, the packaging was so luxurious. On first spray, it smelled so sharp. Citrus notes will do that to my skin, my skin usually make citrus-y perfumes more sour and unpleasant. I was quite disappointed. But I kept wearing it because I don't have many perfumes. It's been a month or so and this perfume has developed into the perfume that I smelled in the store. It lasts around 6-7 hours. All in all, I think this perfume is very underrated and deserves more hype.

The opening of Cross of Asia is a potent bouquet of ylang ylang, jasmine and tuberose. The quality of this is so good that all those florals are easily detectable and you're able to tell them apart. It's also animalic and suggestive. As the initial potency gives way to a sorta softer ambery musky animalic floralcy (mostly jasmine and tuberose) which is bitter-sweet. in the dry down there's this woody characteristic that is really pleasant. It has a prominent vintage streak, which makes it comforting for me. I think it goes really well with those flowy long gowns that Chanel, vionnet and Schiaparelli designed during the Great Depression. It gives me those vibes. Retro rich but cool vibes. It's not innovative though. Ps: it's bizarre that some frag folks have detected apple and citrus in this. There's not a trace of those in the sample I have. Ps2: it gets you complements. Full bottle worthy.

In addition to Orlov Orlov I will be getting this one too. Just so smooth and classy. Starts off with some fresh tuberose and ylang-ylang. The jasmine is not indolic but light and airy. Underneath I get a rounded rosiness that is really nice. Mr. Dominique sure knows what he is doing. There is a sweetness in this that makes me want to order it now but I will restrain and finish my sample.

I sampled this before decided for FB. No grandma smell - Very classy and elegant for formal or casual wearing but i mostly spray it before bed time or having evening tea. My weekly rotation with Orlov white, Ex Nihilo FN Ext ,MFK 724, Nishane HSW and FM Iris Poudre.

The pyramid seems to me completely off. I own a bottle of this and it definitely matches the pyramid you can find on parfumo. Wonder what is happening here: is parfumo right? did I get the real deal? I cannot see any close resemblance with the listed perfumes (I own them all!) in the similar section. Tuberose and ylang is one of my favorite accords in perfumery, especially from Ropion, and it's nowhere to be found here. It's fruity floral with citruses blended with apple, some aquatic touches and some jasmine. Cannot comment on dry down as I am waiting for summer time to wear it. Too bright for the current weather where I live.
