Sun Drop

Densely spicy rose-oud, opens with a thick saffron that slowly transforms into an equally spicy rose-oud oil. It gets a touch musky on my skin as it dries down, but nonetheless remains very spicy with a tactile warmth that feels like an actual layer of heat over the skin. Perfect for autumn and winter, there's no other season to wear this. Very strong in the air, skin, and clothes.

Absolutely stunning scent that works all seasons - winter and fall would be perfect. Leans masculine but can definitely see a woman rocking this. 10/10

They say everything about me. » the thoughts of Jordi Fernandez, the perfumer behind Sun Drop is something I find incredibly beautiful. It must be such an exquisite experience to pour yourself into a piece of art - in a sense that is what we all do here as well, but creating a gorgeous fragrance is a magical way of self-expression. Sun Drop is a true oriental dream - precious oud wood in the base with patchouli, mixed with beautiful rose and made spicy with cinnamon, cardamom and nutmeg. I especially find this lovely because this is not your average Rose-Oud combination - most rose-oud combos can be a but lifeless and cold, but here the warmness of the spices really liven up the fragrance. And it is an experience that lasts for a long time! I am sniffing my shirt right now which I sprayed yesterday and it is still so beautifully sweet and oudy. The oud is not in your face, animalic oud but a soft woody facet that supports the floral and spicy nature rather then overpowers the whole creation. It really is a beautifully blended fragrance that captures the mood of the middle east it was inspired by.

Okay so. Sun drop. I've no issue with the name, in fact I'm quite intrigued. The fragrance itself is a big, thick spicy opening and strange earthy saffron and leather, always familiar though, because resinous, labdanum and almost gourmand notes of cinnamon and ibq laced, oud accord are conspiring to make this smell like a few Carner Barcalona's and a touch of Black Afgano, Terenzi etc.... you know the vibes. The cinnamon actually reminds me of Molton and Brown mesmerising oudh accord and gold...except this clearly has more going on and for it. So I like it. It's very nice. It's like a kind of sexy biscuit. but a fashion that is at least 8-10 years old? But it's flaw is that it's nothing new. In the context of the collection that's totally in keeping.

There are many great and hyped oud fragrances and many of them are great for a reason. I have only 4 oud based fragrances in my 300+ collection. However, I have tried many of them and Sun Drop by Orlov is my second absolutely favorite after Ombre Nomade by Louis Vuitton which is a stunner and a masterpiece!!! Sun drop gives off a similar vibe as Ombre Nomade does. It's an easy to wear Oud fragrance and I always get compliments when I wear it. The quality is great here too, so if you like oud fragrances give it a try:))))
