2. Nawab of Oudh Intensivo

This is the newest addition to my collection, and for a good reason—it has joined it. I remember a couple of months ago when my SA mentioned Nawab of Oudh while I was exploring the house of Ormonde Jayne. What she said while spraying a blotter for me back then was: "Keep it with you and see how much this fragrance evolves." After leaving the store, I really liked what I smelled on the paper, but couldn't recall the fragrance. It's like I couldn't even remember if I had smelled it before. Now I know why... After a few weeks, passing by the OJ display, I noticed NoO Intensivo and remembered what my SA had told me. This time, I made sure to test it on my skin and marked the blotter, so I knew exactly which fragrance it was. And yes, after some time, I knew for certain. It was this beauty that evolved so much, and each step of its evolution was everything I expected. I finally found this fragrance—the one that takes me on a sensory journey, experiencing so much, but not all at once. Just step by step. In perfect doses. I believe it's a HIDDEN GEM, and if you're into fragrance, you should definitely try it out. It's elegant, yet I consider it a perfect candidate for a signature scent. Talking about notes, as mentioned before, this one is a real chameleon. It starts off with citrusy notes—very light, comforting, and tea-like! Then, the juicy rose takes over, and it goes on until you get to smell vetiver and finally, the oud. It's a wonderful scent, and I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND trying it out when you get a chance.

Damn, this is good! On first spray, a bright splash of clean Aldehydes and citrus. The citrus whisps off within minutes to more floral head notes... Likely the Magnolia but definitely a fresh and slightly green dewy Rose. It was at this point I had pause to think maybe this is skewing a little too feminine, but after around half an hour or so, little nuances of warmth started to appear. The Pimento? Cinnamon? Labdanum? Whatever, this pulled the fragrance straight back down the unisex path and into beautiful wearability. As the fragrance reached its mid to base, a soft musky ambergris rounded the experience off nicely. So my overall thoughts? Nawab of Oudh Intensivo is an absolutely gorgeous creation. Airy, diffusive, refined yet it has presence and body. There is a point, just after the florals calm down a little, an hour into the wearing, that this smells like a close cousin of the original Chanel Egoiste (mentioned in a comment below) yet Nawab Intensivo feels way more fleshed out, refined and tweaked to the Nth degree. I'd suggest anyone give this a sample. It's not often one comes across a fragrance that feels so truly well crafted, so 'classy' without smelling old school, and where you actually feel like, for an expensive niche fragrance, you REALLY are getting what you paid for... It says 'oudh' in the title but it's actually for 'Awadh' in India which is where the nawab is from. The nawabs used to govern the Kingdom of Awadh under the Mughals but was later abolished by the British. ⭐Scent. Airy, watery rose. Warm cardamon. I did 5 sprays and wherever I'd walk, it would leave behind a strong sillage. It felt like walking in a fresh, green, rose garden with dew drops on the leaves of musambi trees after it had just rained in spring. On the corner, someone is making Kashmiri pink elaichi chai with tayz pata added to it. I am legit shocked by the contrast of cold and warm. It reminded me of that scene from Satyajit Ray's The Music Room, when all the nawabs are sitting listening to a performance of 'Mian ki Malhar' and there's thunder in the background: https://youtu.be/HsOApwYgzLo?si=u-aH5WxaHJcbhcFH The opening has this citric zestiness which stays on skin but not so prominent in air. It's an airy, 'watery' fragrance meaning that it's light, it's notes glide in the air without creating any discomfort. Very delicate. Elegant. Classy. Also, I feel the name 'nawab' can be misleading as it gives the assumption this is a masculine perfume. When in fact, it can easily be a signature scent for a woman. Nothing harsh, rugged or heavy.

🕌 Salah ad-Din “The Oud of Kings” It doesn’t arrive. It commands the room before stepping in. Opening with cardamom, rose, orange, and just a whisper of smoke — not aggressive, not soft —measured. Like a general who prays before battle, then never misses. The oud? Dry, regal, almost aloof. It doesn’t shout “look at me.” It says: “Remember me.” This isn’t barnyard oud. This is oud that sat in a gold box next to a Qur’an, wrapped in silk and guarded by swords. Aged, softened, but never tamed. The florals aren’t feminine. They’re the gardens behind a fortress. They bloom in silence, under control. This is what honor smells like when it’s worn by someone with blood on their hands but justice in their eyes. He’s not a king because he took the throne. He’s a Nawab because people lowered their swords when he passed. Imagine a man who fasts during the day, writes poetry at dusk, and at night rides into the desert to deal with traitors under moonlight. That’s this fragrance. It doesn’t beg to be liked. It was made to be feared... and respected. 10/10. Not for lovers. For those who carry both mercy and fire in equal measure.

If you guys have experienced Amouage Jubilation XXV before, Nawab of Oudh Intensivo offers similar vibes; it's a truly lovely fragrance. The scent exudes a cozy warmth with a subtle and delightful woodiness. However, it leans more towards the floral and youthful side, in contrast to Jubilation XXV, which is more fruity, dark, and mature. I was fortunate to acquire it back in September at a discounted price of £126.00. Unfortunately, it's now sold out on the official website, and finding it at a reasonable price from online retailers, even with a good discount, seems nearly impossible. In my opinion, this perfume is underrated and can be considered a hidden gem. It boasts a beautiful and charming blend, earning a solid 20/10 in my book. I highly recommend it as a unisex fragrance that exudes class, charm, and professionalism.

My first and still favorite OJ. Beautiful blend of spice and florals. Long lasting morning to night. All day it pops in and out creating more excitement in your surrounding atmosphere. This is one perfume where the synthetic structure has a positive effect on how it wears. While calm, it remains calm. With movement, its ethereal nature springs back to life. Gorgeous. Molton Brown has a shower gel called Flame Tree & Pimento. A shower with that and then Nawab of Oud afterwards is a total knockout combo. They compliment each other beautifully, accentuating the spicy pimento and woody notes, and it’s absolutely intoxicating.

Woody rose and zesty, tangy spice. It's deep and resinous, with the added salty-sweet, expansive warmth of ambergris. It opens just slightly dirty, but very quickly smooths out into something elegant and harmonious. Personally, as a lover of women's vintage "oriental" fragrances, this reads thoroughly unisex to me, with a smooth, neutral elegance that embodies both masculine and feminine refinement at once. It's opulent yet understated; a white marble sculpture in the shadowy glow of a candle-lit room. Very similar to Nawab of Oudh, but I find it a bit heavier and a bit sharper - a touch more resinous and deep.

A true masterpiece masculine rose scent. A lot of people will think it's feminine just because it's floral/rose, but it's not. It gives off a vibe of a 35 year old sophisticated married man with wife and kids. Although I'm a bit young for that, I love it so much that I had to buy it. Luckily I found one of the last samples of discontinued 50ml - new 88ml bottle is a bit much. EDIT: Do not smell this off atomizer!!! It's way too intense and will make you dislike it. Spray from distance and let it spread. Then it's heavenly.

Nawab of Oudh Intensivo is the epitome of sophistication. When I wear this, I feel hot, sensual, classy and ready for the boardroom, or for a date night. The notes are perfectly blended and it is a spicy, floral, woody composition of deliciousness. The projection, sillage and longevity are all amazing. This is a masterpiece and I would love to own a full bottle one day, as this is definitely full bottle worthy. 10/10 😍❤

This is sophisticated, mysterious, airy spiced rose with a soft woody background. It's sweet and spicy but not cloying or overwhelming. Versatile. Can be worn in heat without getting choked out. Moderate projection and longevity. To my nose, it's very well blended, though the name is misleading as there isn't much oud wood here at all, but what we have instead is very nice.

Spicy woody rose scent. It’s ethereal with great diffusion without being dense. It also wafts and in and out in terms of presence. Such a great option to combine with oud incensed clothes. I didn’t even anything in the Ormonde Jayne line up was this great although I didn’t even anything miss out on Black Gold. I’ve worn OJ on and off since ‘09.

Masterpiece! This one is in a league of its own. Versatile, fresh, elegant and in my opinion timeless. Back up bottle worthy. Very pleasing dry down. If you enjoy light vetiver based freshies, this one might hit the spot too. The floral-musk-labdanum-vetiver drydown is magical. I have the 50ml option. Shukran Habibi!

can't feel sexier wearing any other fragrance in the world. i don't know about the new batches, but the version i have is exactly how a man should smell like. clean, sexy and in control. the absolute perfect fragrance was "the" ormonde jayne nawab of oudh intensivo. please make it great again.

This is not a beast mode fragrance, it lasts long but projects just above moderate.1. Nawab of oud has the same performance and it had more floral(rose) side effect.2. Nawab of oud intensivo(50ml bottle %42) is less floral. I loved the 1. nawab of oud more but this one is great, too.

This fragrance is insane! It's my 2nd Ormonde Jayne perfume, and I think this one's gotta be the best. The opening starts citrusy for a few seconds, then it turns into something heavenly. Worth noting that this is a blind buy, which I have become quite good at.

The 50 ml version was an absolute masterpiece and a winner in terms of depth, complexity, intensity, value for money and general appeal. Sadly, the new 88 ml version is a faint memory of the past glory. I will cherish every drop of my 50 ml bottle.

This is THAT GOOD SHIT. Unlike anything else I've smelled. Props to Geza Schoen for taking a spiced rose oud fragrance and making it juicy, uplifiting, and effervescent. Ethereal perfume that's on another level.

Sophisticated and smells like old money. Pleasing scent profile that also blossoms in summer heat. Good sillage and leaves a nice scent trail. Issue are longevity and projection. Shukran Habibi!

I love this! A pleasant fragrance. It does perform. More than12 hours longevity and fill the room too. Although not as beast as Interlude or BR540. 9.75/10

For my nose it smells like a combination of 40 Knots and Terre d'Hermes. Good parameters. Pretty neat.

Ppl here are giving their impressions on the old discontinued 50ml formulation, the new 88ml is a joke and a proof how the perfumery industry is milking money from the now recurrent game ( they launch a pre-hit perfume formula, if met success, they discontinue it, dilute it to the max and relaunch it in a fancy presentation) Bottom line : the new 88ml is so diluted that it lost its character and its now another meh freshies!

The original Nawab of Oudh was a radiant spicy ginger, rosy oudh. Beautiful, unique, and unisex. The intensivo is a very nice modern men's cologne with hints of oud. Very different vibe. Make sure you sample exactly what you are buying. I wonder if the parfum is like the original?

Definitely a heavy dose of rose/florals. Someone came in my office and asked why it smelled like a florist. It smells nice, but is way too feminine for my liking. It is smooth and classy though. 6.7/10 on me 8.8/10 on a woman

Nawab of Oudh Ormonde Jayne Geza Schoen A more apt name for this would be Nawab of Rose, but if you're putting a drop of Oudh (or even an Oudh accord) in your fragrance, understandably you'd wanna cash in on it. Even the greatest of niche houses (Frederic Malle above all) are tempted to misdirections and misnomers with Perfume names. Those who are left flummoxed or feel they were misled by Perfume names should wait for their Prefrontal Cortex to fully develop. Notes and Names are Marketing ploys. Do the due diligence or get yourself a sample instead of crying on online forums. Nawab of Oudh is a green sugary sweet Rose and Amber, sparkling with a warm spicy Cardamom tug. What's remarkable is that its compositional complexity does not carry into the final scent as a whole; the scent diffuses into something easy to grasp and easier to love. There is obvious finesse here with how Pimento and Cardamom are used, their fiery character tamed and subsumed within a most sensuous Rose and Amber. It does seem to me to have a refined quality as well as a formidable personality that deems it fit for Royalty. It could be the Ambergris adding that effect, since the many dupes of this that I've tried lack that glaring shimmery sparkle of Nawab, or the muscle of its body. It's easier to make a Green Rosy sugary Cardamom laden Fresh Spicy clone of Nawab; the idea is undeniably original and foolproof even in the hands of a fledgling, but Schoen's choice ingredients and his command on the timing and the cohesion of all the olfactory harmonies that make Nawab the exceptional perfume it is - is all but inimitable. The top dollar is reserved for the details as well as the idea as it is. The bottom dollar will buy you hearsay, far from the story as told by its author. Don't get me wrong, I do get why. Even if it comes through hearsay, some ideas are so revolutionary that they're just something worth beholding, one way or another. Bottom-feeders would never know the glories of an open sky if not for third rate clones. Intellectual property is a concept unbeknownst to them. Let them thrive off of greatness. I purchased Nawab of Oudh Intensivo enthusiastically, after wearing and loving Montabaco Intensivo. It was nearly a blind buy; I had smelled it twice, once on paper and once on skin. I’ll first say that for me, this is a bizarre composition. On paper, it should be rich and opulent— qualities I associate with rose, cardamom, oud, sandalwood, and even ambergris. Yet this fragrance is dominated by airy, powdery and soapy notes. So, straight to the point: is it strong or weak? I’ve come across both critiques on this page. My verdict is, it is both at once: the oriental notes are subdued, while the french notes are supercharged. All this might disappoint a lover of middle eastern perfumery (such as myself), who expects notes like rose and oud to pull you past the event horizon to experience other dimensions. But this is decidedly not middle eastern perfumery. It behaves in a very, very clever manner, creating a mirage of opulence that isn’t really there. The aromachemical concoction here inflates this fragrance like an invisible balloon, imbuing it with enormous projection and sillage; the clarity and texture of the fragrance, however, are inversely proportional (which isn’t necessarily a critique). In all likelihood, the wearer will become anosmic. The more I wear this fragrance and understand how it is engineered, the more I appreciate it. It is incredibly beautiful, there’s no doubt. And more to the point, I suspect it behaves in a beautiful manner to those around me. So, is it good? Yes — very. But it’s not to my personal taste. It has something I cannot identify which I do not like. A particular floral, perhaps, which recalls vintage hand soap. One last point that is extremely valuable: I cannot overstate how differently this fragrance behaves on skin compared to clothing. The powdery amber note, which I personally do not like, is practically nonexistent on clothing. On clothes, I get a green, woody rose; on skin I get a powdery amber white floral.

Upon first sniff I was overcome by a sense of disappointment. I got a good deal on a bottle but, still, that initial blast on the backside of my hand gave me nothing but a floral green mess. I had a similar disappointment with Rocabar. That scent never went anywhere for me. Later that evening, I sniffed the atomizer. Whoa, what’s that if not the sweetest cardamom. Where was that two hours ago? Full wearing the next day. Throughout the day I’d catch whiffs of perfectly balanced sweetness and light. Etheral, fresh sweetness that’s never overbearing or cloying. New wearing the next day. I finally got ”it”; the praise and all the good reviews. The scent both is and isn’t. I do not know how they’ve done it but one minute it’s not there and the next one it is. Out of nowhere comes a whiff of the most extraordinary sweet yet fresh potion. This must leave a fantastic trail. To me Nawab is not about what notes went into making it or the definition of it being a ”rose” or ”oud” scent. It is about the total composition and the way this composition constitutes a statement of something enigmatic. There’s the green mess of a start, then for a while you end up contemplating whether or not the unisex categorization of Nawab possibly is too feminine after all. And then it arrives, in lack if better terms. You are now beyond all of that and that place smells absolutely gorgeous.

An overlooked gem, heavenly stuff by Ormonde Jayne. This is a testament that well crafted floral based perfumes makes the classiest men's fragrances (florals are normally associated with feminine or unisex perfumes at best). This smells regal, sophisticated and old money, suitable for well dressed older man with grey hair. True to its name, this is the smell of royalty (Nawab is an old muslim title given to a prince or a ruler, Oudh is a state in india - not to be confused with Oud the perfume oil). There is also an element of warm spicy tanginess , gives it a slightly intriguing edge. I don't detect any oud though, in all it is a very complex niche fragrance. Had it in my collection for a couple of years now, rarely had the chance to wear it (as much as i love it but i only have a 50 ml bottle!), I recently wore it for a friend's wedding, It is the type of perfume that i don't go nose blind to which is a bonus, along with its excellent performance and strong potency, what an experience it was!

Nawab apparently means "a powerfull ruling prince or land owner in India" and the naming is not coincidental or chosen on a whim. It is a downright regal perfume! It might be the most elegant and suave fragrance i've so far put my nose on. The fragrance has a strong presence of spices. It is, dense, powdery, ambery, spicy piquant. A fragrance for a well mannered, financially potent gentleman with exquisite taste. Makes me think of a filthy rich Indian spice trader who just inspected his goods, dusted off his hands but the smell still follows him. As it dries down, "the prince washes his hands" and the spices are felt less and less but don't completly go away and it becomes a gentlemanly scent. I can pick up soapy aspects in the drydown. A top quality creation without doubt. This is another level of perfumery and im bummed because i cannot get it in my country. No discounter sells this one.

As with all OJ fragrances, Nawab exudes refined luxury, but differently than usual for OJ. There are notes here which are reminiscent of those esoteric throwback hippie shops that sell Tibetan incense sticks and smell of spicy essential oils burning over a diffuser. And though that may not sound like “refined luxury”, it totally works because: Those earthy hippie notes are given the usual smooth OJ “cashmere treatment” and out comes a glorious, warm scent which is pleasantly exotic yet still very much upscale. An excellent autumn/winter scent. Longevity could be a bit better, at least compared to Ormonde Man which lasts forever. But that’s just a side note. 9/10

Nawab of Oudh Intensivo is an exceptionally well-blended, wonderfully crafted masterpiece. I picked it few months ago and have worn it 7 or 8 times since then. It's vaulted its way into the top 10 of my collection. Overall, Nawab of Oudh Intensivo is celebrated for its depth and character, appealing to lovers of oud and exotic fragrances. If you appreciate bold, sophisticated scents with a story, it might be worth trying! Is there a more classy and royal-smelling fragrance out there? I can imagine the Nawabs of Oudh smelling like this several hundred years ago. Makes you feel like one when you wear it! An absolutely apposite appellation. A regal mixture of different spices. OJ at its best!! My second-best perfume ever!

The Intensivo is very different than the regular Nawab of Oudh. Everything warm in the original is underscored in the intensivo by an overwhelmingly soft, bitter orange. Opening is bright and clean like classic intensivo. Dry down is a sorbetto bitter orange musk.

For me this is top 5 fragrances ever created. Blended to perfection, not a single note is sticking out. Performance is very good, very versatile. Signature scent material. Price is the only issue. Other than that, this is 10/10.

Looking for a perfume that meets my requirements namely to be fresh slightly sweet and to last a long time, I can say that this perfume meets them all, this will be my signature Perfume.
