Isfarkand

Oh so deliciously peppery-citrus, prickling with extra spice and intrigue, true unisex and intensely INTERESTING as well as classy. Definite shades of the OJ Man/Woman creeping in around the edges with the dry, aromatic sprinklings of cedar dust and oak moss. The vetiver's clean and citric rather than skanky-greeny and all the better for that. Doesn't remind me at all of the mouldy-orange aura which Terre d'Hermes creates on me (female), it's far fresher and cleaner than that - closer to a more nuanced and peppery and slightly sweeter Jo Malone Orange Bitters to me. So, a convincing and charismatic meld of zest and zing and herbal bite. All that action makes it opulent and luxurious-feeling, not just perky and fresh... for the fatally short time this lasts. I would happily wear it all day most days if it would let me - but on my skin this dies completely within 2-3h, which makes it no deal at OJ's prices. So beautiful though - I've heard there is an Intensivo version of this, designed to sort out the performance issues, which would be worth seeking out if your wallet's plump enough to stand the impact. Joyful stuff if cost is no issue.

This is the closest thing I’ve found to my all time favorite, Gucci Envy. Envy is more floral in the top and mid notes while Isfarkand is more a citrus fresh spicy (thanks to the bergamot and pink pepper). The drydown on both is accented with unctuous oakmoss which imparts a sensual self assured vibe. I would say sexy because it makes me feel sexy but it’s not a demure, miniskirt, bat-your-lashes sexy. It’s a look-you-in-the-eye, I-dare-you-to-come-closer-but-keep-your-distance sexy. It’s not Barbie. It’s Wonder Woman. A challenge. For that reason I wear it when I need to bring my A game at work and also when I want to give come-hither vibes. And for that same reason I think Isfarkand would also suit a confident man. Person, really. Truly unisex. Longevity is 10+ hours on me. Sillage is moderate (2 sprays on the neck, 1 walk through spray). I get wafts at hour 10 and beyond but no one but my husband has ever commented on it (that’s totally fine, I don’t like my scents to precede me). A new classic for me.

This should be listed as unisex because I for one would be happy to wear it. The lime, pepper and vetiver open with such a wonderful zingy freshness that really enhances all the cedar beautifully. There maybe iris in there but I find it hard to pick out. This is one to splash on the next morning after too many bevvies the previous night. The lime is quite strong on me but I love it. Lime is in the citrus family but it is far less harsh incomparison to the rest of the family. There is a sweetness which might not be as obvious as orange but it is there. The dry down is all vetiver and cedar. Ive tested Escentric molecules 1 and this has way more delicious character than that rather nondescript smell. Move over fellas this one is also for us gals!

I’ve had this for a while, almost let it go a few times but glad no one grabbed it. I recently got Elysium, which is pretty nice, but realized it smells a lot like this one. This one is more natural and a little heavier on the pink pepper, which I commented on my Elysium review as well, but it’s similar enough. Like I said on my other review, not dupe territory or anything, but this having come out years before I respect the innovation in note blend. Definitely different vibe than other Ormonde fragrances, which is good in my opinion. It’s a lighter fragrance, and not eternal like some OJ offerings, but is good performance for its genre.

so nice, I had to get myself a full bottle. of the Ormonde Jayne scents I’ve tried out, I think this is the one that’s most obviously a Geza Schoen scent. it’s a similar vibe to Escentric Molecules because it’s very laid back and approachable, but it’s much less trendy and more refined, imho. I also think this would make a great gateway chypre style scent, so if you think chypre maybe isn’t your bag, I encourage you to take this one for a spin

Isfarkand Ormonde Jayne Nice peppery zesty lime citrusy opening. Good for the weather here in Singapore, under the hot and warm Sunny day. Lovely Vetiver and drydown and it does reminds me of Hermes TdH. Pretty much all occasions as it's light with some spiciness and limey fresh. Lasts a few hours so resprays needed if you are out longer hours.

This perfume smells like a luxurious ceder lined closet filled with soft cashmere sweaters and clean fresh linen shirts. Not a showstopper but unisex and appropriate for any occasion. Smells more like you and your clothes are clean and well maintained than that you are wearing a perfume.

This one; OJ Champaca and OK Frangipani smells close each other in my opinion. This scent has everything opposite to showing off. Modest, unpretentious spiritually full, happy with their roots type of people's scent. A classic Kensington room. London.

I think all the fresh perfumes from Ormond Jayne have similar vibe, but this one the freshest of them all: beautiful citruses full of juice with some lovely spices and clean vetiver base. It’s quite simple, but it’s nice. Follow me on IG: scent.guide

Out of all the releases from Ormonde Jayne, Isfarkand is my favorite. followed by Montabaco & Amber Royale. I suddenly realized that it actually smells almost exactly like Elysium minus the marine salty note. Perfect for summer and everyday wear.

Pink pepper heaven, it's amazing. I think it's more of a masculine fragrance, it's giving a little bit of a baby powder note too, but that's not a bad thing. It's a great choice for office work. 9/10

Light and spicy! Two words I've never used to describe a perfume, but I love it!

A fragrance for those who want a discreet, refined scent bubble. This one is curious- I’m pretty sure it’s masculine, but something a bit feminine also flits about throughout its lifespan. Based in the notes listed, however, I can’t imagine what that might be. You’ll definitely get the iso-e and pepper, vetiver in the drydown. I swear there’s a floral note hidden in here: an effect similar to the chamomile note in Baldessarini Cologne (now there’s an obscure reference for you!). It gives it a softness that belies the listed notes. Isfarkand is not a banger, pantry dropper, room-filler, head turner, beast mode, or any other term from the fragrance world vernacular. It sits quite apart from any modern trend (no sugar here!) which makes it refreshing to wear. Inoffensive and light, but surprisingly decent performance. Do I enjoy it? Yes. But it may be too austere to love.

A craftily constructed minimalist woody chypre, Isfarkand on the surface is your safe office masculine leaning scent like Terre D'Hermes but as it begins to settle you see the richness and high quality of ingredients slowly reveal themselves in discreet layer after layer. The perfume opens like most chypres in a cloud of citrus with bergamot, mandarin orange and lime. There is a brief pink pepper heart and the perfume settles into a mossy woody base of vetiver, oakmoss and cedar. A bit boring and safe but not as boring as you think as it begins to evolve. Unisex masculine leaning with moderate projection and sillage and good longevity. Eminently wearable. Enjoy!

This is a delight. Bright, sweet citrus with some pepper. The card that my sample is attached to claims there's an iris note in it somewhere, but I couldn't pick it up. It's like an even more transparent Terre D'Hermes, though this obviously predates Terre. It's very reflective of Geza Schoen's style, if you've tried any of his Escentric range - Escentric 03 is similar though that is more about the vetiver than this. Ormonde Jayne's scents are more reasonably priced than some other niche brands, and Isfarkand makes a good case for its price. If I didn't already have so many other scents that are similar to this, I'd probably pick it up.

This one surprised me by starting out woody, citrusy and a little “sweaty-musky”. I don’t know why, but I’d been expecting a feminine floral oriental, so the light dryness was a pleasant depature from that image. The predominant wood is cedar, probably underscored with some Iso E Super as well as some black agar or other synthetic woody note that gives it the “sweaty” feel. There’s a little bit of spiciness, presumably from the pink pepper, but I wouldn’t call the composition spicy at all. Towards the end, the vetiver in the base becomes prominent. There’s lots of sillage and it is long-lasting, at least 8-10 hours. I like it a lot.

This is a really nice, light unisex scent that leans a bit masculine. It feels elegant and refined.

I don't get any of the top notes in this scent. It smells like a strong blast of pepper for the first hour and then dries down to its warmer, woody base. It doesn't smell BAD - I just don't want to smell like freshly cracked pepper and then a basic warm wood. I think it'd be a good layering scent though - or more complex for noses that pick up the citrus notes. Maybe I just got a bad sample.

This starts out with an “AAH CHOO” type of white pepper which really clouds out the citrus notes. This fades into an Ambroxan-like skin scent within 40 minutes and remains there for another 4 hours. Deeper down you can smell vetiver, cedar wood, and citrus, which is listed as bergamot, mandarin and lime. This is probably the first OJ scent that didnt work for me.

A stronger Escentric Molecule 1. Those who enjoy Iso E super based fragrances will probably relish wearing this. It’s refined, classy and office safe, but nothing path breaking our unique. All season safe. Shukran Habibi!

A light fragrance that does well in warm weather. Lots of pink pepper with a hint of lime on a dry vetiver base. Inoffensive and safe for the office/mixed company. Nothing mind-blowing, but it’s certainly pleasant.

Cola, so Enigma? I don’t know.

A niche but mundane juicy scent. It's like Montabacco Intensivo stripped of that weird musky opening, which leaves it with a hollowness that lacks any character. The lime in the opening is just weak, overshadowed by the much better quality Guerlain Homme EDP - a lime powerhouse. Isfarkand is pretty much fragmented, there's no backbone to tie the notes together to journey into the "oakmoss" drydown. What you should buy is the nifty Terre D'Hermes that perfected this in every way. No Brainer Conclusion: JUST GET TERRE DHERMES

Guest review below was mine. As always, I got timed. Really trying to understand and smell this scent but it was very quiet after the top. Upon application, a spray, my nose was greeted with a beautiful yet airy mandarin orange. The lime and bergamot was not too obvious and hiding quietly at the aromatic mandarin orange note. It was a remarkable citrus and earthy feel. I like it from the moment I applied it. It smells unisex indeed. A minute after, the orange was joined with pink pepper, adding a light spice, the cedar and a balmy feeling is slowly manifesting. The aromatic essence and earthiness is still there, clouding the whole journey in a very conservative way. I say aromatic but projection is really very weak. Because of it's very close to skin scent, this would be a safe straight to the workplace wearing. Anyone can wear this on a spring and summer seasons, day or night. A very safe, not too sweet and so quiet perfume. The very weak sillage is the biggest regret for this fragrance despite a promising awesome top. Longevity, being a close to skin, would only be about 4 hours. Right at the base, I can still smell the mandarin orange mixed with moss while vetiver seems like nowhere to be found. My whole olfactory journey with OJ Isfarkand is warm but not inviting. You may want to give this perfume a sample try but be reminded, it doesn't innovate and tends to be somewhat linear plus I didn't experience a noticeable perfume transformation despite it's aromatic trait. This is warm, light spicy, less sweet, no powdery but earthy. With my wearing, sadly, it may not be a compliment earner. I feel neautral to poor due to its lack of excitement and olfactory satisfaction despite having light woods over dry down. I can only give this a 6/10. Should you wish to buy a Jayne Ormonde fragrance, skip with this one, just ask for a sample. Go for the other Jayne Ormonde perfumes like Jayne Ormonde Woman and Tolu.

Timeless Isfarkand by Ormonde Jayne It's hard to believe that Isfarkand, a fragrance that feels as fresh and modern as today's releases, is nearly 20 years old. While Ormonde Jayne has occasionally been associated with a more "chemical" style in recent years, Isfarkand stands as a testament to their exquisite mastery of natural-smelling accords. Upon first spritz, incredibly realistic citruses and peppercorns mingle alongside dry woods, creating a beautiful, ethereal experience. It's one of those scents that I sometimes wear for personal enjoyment. Although often categorized as a citrus fragrance, Isfarkand, to my nose, is more about the pink pepper. It gracefully dominates both the opening and dry down, weaving a thread of subtle spice throughout. It reminds me somewhat of Honour Man by Amouage, but Isfarkand maintains a more ethereal quality throughout its lifespan. My nose can't detect any vetiver, just some nondescript dry woods in the dry down. In terms of longevity and sillage, Isfarkand falls on the lighter side. I find myself reapplying every 3-4 hours to maintain its presence, curious to see if the elixir version got any better. Is it worth the full retail price? Perhaps not. However, I managed to snag a 4oz bottle for $60, and at that price, it's an absolute steal. If you're seeking a unique, ethereal fragrance that whispers rather than shouts, Isfarkand is certainly worth exploring.

Isfarkand by Ormonde Jayne smells more masculine than feminine to my nose. It's interesting reading the reviews on this fragrance as some find it perfectly unisex, others agree that it's better on men and some find it very feminine. In terms of Isfarkand being gender-specific, the jury is still out. I do enjoy Isfarkand, but I prefer it more on my partner's skin than on my own. I smell a lot of lime, pink pepper and cedar in this fragrance's composition which makes Isfarkand quite a rich and dense woody-citrus scent. When I smell Isfarkand I immediately think of a well-dressed man in a tailored business suit, walking with purpose in a fancy high-rise office. It's the scent of a mature, well-established man with money. This image that Isfarkand conjures in my brain is possibly the reason why it doesn't resonate as well with me on my skin. In terms of sillage and longevity, Isfarkand goes above and beyond. It makes a wonderful year-round fragrance choice, provided that during Spring and Summer the number of sprays is minimal. It's definitely a fragrance worth trying, and I am pleased to see that it features in the Ormonde Jayne Discovery Sample Set. I would, however, sample a few times before purchasing as the top notes are quite bold and the price also quite exorbitant.

I wear perfume for myself; I love the intimate delight of having a beautiful or charming or pretty or delightful or even funny scent waft up to my nose during the day, bringing that little moment of joy to the ordinary. Isfarkand is truly one of the most unisex scents I have encountered. The initial blast of pink pepper can cause a little worry--oh no! this is soooo 2005--but it is quickly joined by little spritzes of citrus, so although I still enjoy pink pepper, it does not bore you with overuse. Although the initial spritz seems light to me, on my skin Isfarkand actually grows with time, and I have to remember to not overapply initially. The real beauty of Isfarkand is in the drydown an hour or so later. It retains some of its bergamot and pepper goodness but is joined by mellow woods and sweet vetiver. They waft up to my nose and delight me over and over again. I don't have the sense that I've borrowed the Mister's cologne for the day, nor would I find it awkward that he'd want to wear it, too. Another absolute gem from the house of Ormonde Jayne.

This is the third Ormande Jayne sample I've tried along with Man and Zizan and I must say I find them all pretty similar in realisation and concept. Like the others, this one starts out with a nice, fresh blast of citrus notes that thin out too rapidly leaving a weak cedar impression and the same irritating (for me) peppery vetiver trail. There's really nothing here of any distinguished character or note... and certainly nothing to justify the high price. I really wanted to like Ormande Jayne fragrances after reading positive reviews and visiting their shop with helpful staff. Unfortunately I've found it difficult to enthuse about these peppery, rather ordinary scents as they seem to offer little in the way of surprise or innovation.

Although it's said to be for men, Ormonde Jayne ISFARKAND cologne is absolutely unisex: a scrumptious lime-vetiver composition with some other woods and moss thrown in for good measure. The opening has serious addiction potential for me, but as the pink pepper expands toward the drydown, I become less enamored, although it never reaches the point of making me feel overwhelmed. I recommend this creation to anyone looking for a high-quality, slightly spicy, citrus and woody low sillage fragrance. ISFARKAND would be especially nice in hot weather, but it has enough woodiness and spiciness to make it wearable year-round. If you abhor pink pepper or lime, you won't like this one, but everyone else should be pleased.

I love how Linda Pilkington mixes lime with vetiver. Also, she explained to me that when she uses vetiver, she usually uses 3 types of vetiver in a fragrance. This is a nice refreshing less harsh, more wearable, but also a little less intoxicating than Terre D'Hermes Eau Intense Vetiver. I'm not sure which I prefer, but I think if I asked 10 people which is better, 8 would pick Isfarkand. It's very summery, and most of all refreshing. Also, I love that Linda Pilkington uses beet alcohol instead of perfumer's alcohol. Ormonde Jayne is one of my favorite houses. This is a very nice perfume.

The most solo-pink pepper fragrance out there, especially the first spray exactly smells like crushed pink pepper leaves; peppery, citrusy with hints of sharp greenness and somewhat balmy mastic gum or galbanum. Then you get the Geza signature of vetiver x cedar (mostly airy iso e super kind). Simple, versatile, good, expensive. I was happy to have bought Bentley - Infinite Rush for my pink pepper freshie, similar to this and perhaps better in terms of complexity - for a fraction of cost but nose tells me no less in quality of the scent.

This perfume ignited my interest in chypres, although its not a traditional example of this genre...the way that the structure of this perfume stays in tact and works with my skin chemistry is magic, it's as If somehow my body produces this fresh and spicy fragrance on its own. It is a bit of a pink pepper blast initially (no pencil shavings here despite heavy Iso E Super) but the beauty is how everything balances out-the citrus, vetiver and pepper in perfect harmony.

Nice blend of citruses with an overdose of Pink Pepper at the opening. The heart is Iris and Cedarwood (that is the official description I have on my sample, but the official website now has "parfum" version and Iris is no longer in the pyramid). At the dry down it turn into the most gorgeous skin scent (leaning to masculine side) woody with sweet moss and floral Iris after rain. My review of the collection is already on YouTube. Dina_France

Go read my review on Amouage Search. This scent is quite similar to that one, and it was a return for me as well. Its something about the lime vetiver combo that really doesnt do it for me. Its mature, fresh but in a classic gentlemanly way. This is like a fresher take of Amouage Search. It doesnt smell like Elysium at all. Missing the sparkling fruity citrus opening and the famous musk compounds thats through out Elysium

This failed on me completely. It very quickly went from being a masculine citrus blast very reminiscent of an old fashioned aftershave splash or like those perfumed waters you would use to scent your skin and cleanse it, into a slight vetiver and pencil shaving concoction.... Then quickly faded into a faint vetiver. :( Where was the iris and moss I was hoping for. Not too impressed with this one. Onto the next!

This puts a smile on my face. Opens with pepper and wood. Then, goes into citrus and something really sweet, almost like a bubblegum/candy floss sweet, citrus comes back though and mixes with it. On me, the dry down is a bright citrus with lingering sweetness. Projection is ok but longevity not so much. Can't wait to try it in the summer. I like it but need to be in a very particular mood to wear it.

This is so pretty, mossy spicy vetiver and citrus, with a pink pepper punch. A little bit cedar like pencil shavings. Inhale deeply and feel almost like being in a dewy forest. Really gorgeous scent, but I think it would be better on a man. Maybe I should get a bottle for my husband,

Very nice indeed. Fresh and luxurious. Maybe a tad more on the feminine side but I can still wear and enjoy it. Isfarkand is definitely worth looking into if you happen to like fresh and light deluxe fragrances.

One of the cosiest scent for me from the OJ collection. Hot and protective, I love the combination of citruses and mosses-woods, but when I inhale it right after applying I feel lovely dark spices.

A hot spicy citrus scent. Lovely, slightly masculine and tending towards the oriental. Well blended and layered as all the Ormonde Jayne line are.

Find me a better lime fragrance. I've tried many, and they're all horrible. I love this zesty (peppery) lime.
