Sybarite

I recently visited London to smell perfumes and this was first on my list. I couldn't stop thinking about it afterwards, so purchased via email. I've had it for 2 days now and have worn it both days, I'm in love. I like sweet scents and given OJ tends to do elegant, classic style perfumery, I wasn't sure if this would be sweet enough for me. However it is - it's slightly gourmand leaning and has a natural subtle sweetness throughout that I adore. The hazelnut and vanilla are most prominent to me, and it makes me think of the classiest version of Kinder Bueno filling, however it never becomes creamy but has a slight richness that stops it from being a dry scent either. As it dries down it makes me think of the little hazelnut chunks you find on the side of Happy Hippos (my favourite thing in the world) - it's not quite powdery, or dusty, but it has a delicious textural element. I find it balances a warm nutty nature with a slightly cool iris and musk aspect, and the two compliment each other so is both refined and perfume-y with a freshness, but slightly reminiscent of edible treats too. Longevity is great and the sillage is moderate to me, I got wafts throughout my day which made me feel wrapped in a cosy hazelnut blanket, but don't imagine it projects loads which is totally fine by me. Expensive but what a treat! 💜

Contrary to what a lot of people say, it's not very similar to Guidance to my nose. Yes, it's the same family, but it's significantly different from start to end. It opens with very sweet, almost sirupy hazelnut and I loooove that. After that, the pepper comes and honestly I'm not the biggest fan of this phase - it reminds me of cummin or some other spice, especially when I smell the perfume close to my skin... But it's not bothering me too much. After lets say 30-45 minutes that goes more to the background and I get woody, musky, sweet vanilla with a very yummy and sexy twist that I really enjoy. I would say this is maybe if Guidance and Bianco latte had a baby with a very strong personality of their own.

What a beautiful fragrance! Nutty and buttery but not at all in a Nutella way. This is hard to describe because the notes make you think you got a gourmand fragrance here but it’s not gourmand at all. I am reminded of Guidance but not all aspects of it. Guidance has a certain sharpness to it and here, Sybarite has no sharpness at all whatsoever. I am also reminded of Lost in Paris because of that buttery note but again, it’s not a copy of Lost in Paris either. Sybarite has a subtle sweetness but it’s more perfume-y than gourmand and I really like it. My 5ml decant will be used rather quickly...

Beautiful, soft, sensual, and chic. The sophistication of some of the Ormonde Jayne scents is unmatched. I slept on the brand for years. This is soft, hazelnut, vanilla cream. But not juvenile at all. The Timur note in the opening reads herbal to me (but I feel that way about grapefruit, so it makes sense). Thankfully for me, it doesn’t last and just adds a tiny astringency to what would otherwise be sweet. In the end, the tinge of floral elevates this alongside that vanilla cream/nutty sensation.

An enveloping aroma of hazelnut-vanilla milk spiced with a bit of pepper. A luxurious and rich fragrance for wearing with your most elegant outfits. This fragrance does not scream or shout, it does so gently but very confidently. I stumbled upon this bottle at Lubner in Berlin and immediately decided to buy it.
