True Love

I had very high hopes for this scent based on the reviews. Blind bought (dang...fell for the rush again) and all I can smell is heavy- and I mean HEAVY- pepper tree and lanolin nipple cream (gives a strong wet wool smell). Behind this, there is a soft, waxy Iris and a faint animalic honey that is not all that sweet, but I really can’t get past the maternity ward/ lanolin smell. Too bad, as I can tell there are a lot of people who absolutely adore this scent. Wish I had the same experience. I only purchased it a month ago, so I will keep an open mind and keep testing it as the seasons change.

I find the opening quite pleasant, but after that... I’m not sure if it’s the castoreum, but the scent becomes unbearable to me. There’s something about it that reminds me of industrial soapy oil or candle wax. Sadly, I can’t tolerate it at all and will have to give it away. This is the first Ormonde Jayne fragrance that has ever disappointed me, and I’m heartbroken. Especially with Valentine’s Day approaching, as I had bought it for the occasion. Unfortunately, I just can’t bring myself to wear or enjoy it.
