Vetiveria

Very well constructed vetiver. There is, as has been previously noted, an 'icy' feel to it initially. As it progresses, the notes are distinguishable, and the dry down is a pleasant vetiver with some earthy touches. It does go a little bit sour on my skin deep into the dry down, but not objectionably so. I really like it. My problem with this, which seems to be an industry-wide issue, not just OJ, is the performance. It is quite poor here, and OJ at retail aren't inexpensive. I'm not sure what others are experiencing, but I struggle to get more than 2 or 3 hours out of this. Granted, mine is from a decant, but it shouldn't be this poor. I'll hold off on a full bottle of this for now.

A classic combination with a brilliant modern flair. Citrus & Vetiver are nothing new, but the sheer juiciness of the lime combined with the seamless blend of fruit, aromatics and vetiver raise this to a modern classic. Clean without soap; invigorating without burn; fresh but with body; versatile yet interesting. If you're a full on adult and you want to smell like you know the game, have at this one. Enjoy.

The perfect gin-tonic scent for me. Refreshing, dry, and energising. Love the lime-juniper green freshness that accompanies vetiver. Vetiver fluctuates between grey-clean and mineral-earthy wonderfully. OJ floral notes are outstanding and here it is no exception, lavender is subtly blended in this fresh composition. I love it so much, I had to acquire full bottle.

You guys, this is a reallllly well done vetiver fragrance. It’s simultaneously extra-dry yet icy and cold. Definitely more linear, as nearly all the notes listed are blended and identifiable from start to finish. Very clean and slightly soapy, yet I really think this is good for year-round wear, not just the heat.

That’s a very juicy and happy scent with lots of bright green notes and “sunny” citruses. It almost has a vegetable aspect to it: a lovely undertone of freshly cut celery or a bell pepper. I really enjoy it, because it’s extremely fresh and quite unique. My ig: scent.guide

Amazing scent and refreshing the vetiver is blended well with lime, think of iconic 20 masculine from Clive but change the mandarin in the Clive Christian with lime in this one, and the performance is amazing for freshie. one of the best I have smelt in 2025

my god this is so good. There's a minty aspect to is as well. There is a carbonated soda (sprite or 7-up, I'm not sure) smell to it in combination with the vetiver. Price is too high, though ;-;

Whenever anyone speaks on this house, it's always all praises. I get it now. This is a masterpiece !!! Immediately adding this beauty to my wishlist.

A beautiful creation by Ormonde Jayne though I do agree that this doesn't fall easily in line with the rest of brands scent profile. So let's get to the scent. The initial opening is a blast of lime and juniper berry - a bit sharp but never unpleasant. Reminds me of classic Italian style male colognes, very classy grown up, but not outdated. A pleasing scent I would enjoy if I encountered someone wearing it in public. The heart is where I am greeted by vetiver which by some aromatherapist is the note for me (tbf I do not believe in such things, but fine, let's go with it). I enjoy vetiver in all it's forms, it brings a smile to my face and when I am introduced with a vetiver feminine enough for me I gladly wear it. Here it is not the case. The scent leans more masculine, there is a lot of oakmoss, lavender, vetiver does play a part, but I would not say it is the star of the show despite the name. It gets more earthy and smoky as the time goes by. Silage is pleasant - radiates from the arm and I easily feel it when I move around my hand. The staying power is excellent - 7+ hours radiating strongly. The scent itself settles at around 4h mark and does not evolve past that. For me - earthy/smoky combo of vetiver + oakmoss (heavier on the second). I did not get any sweetness, florals or anything else. I will agree that this is a linear scent, but here I don't see this as an issue. It is very good and the quality is there. I would say - worth the price tag.

The prominent citrus and clary sage opening is reminiscent of an Acqua di Giò flanker. As it develops, the vetiver becomes more pronounced, accompanied by a subtle touch of moss. Objectively, it’s a nice scent, but it doesn’t offer enough uniqueness to justify paying full retail price, for me, at least. If people say this reminds them of Apex, I can kind of see why, but not really.

Majority of the below reviews are just very wrong, i wonder what people are smelling honestly. Now Vetiveria, name's bit misleading, not much vetiver going around except for the drydown. Vetiveria performs as very similar to Bois Imperial but first 2-3 hours are quite strong and lime-pepper combo is prominent. Mind you, this is real strong stuff, 2 sprays easily 24h mark.

On me, there's an overwhelming blast of pepper upon initial spray. Once this clears, the vetiver scent comes through and it's quite pleasant. In the first hour after spraying, I've received a couple of compliments on the scent. However, I feel this one does fade away too quickly to justify the price. And Ormonde Jayne isn't even that expensive!

I'm a big fan of Ormonde Jayne, and this one felt out of character for the brand. There's a certain signature quality to their scent profiles which i find hard to put into words that I felt this perfume lacked. If you're familiar with their work, you might understand what I mean. I tested it both on clothes and skin, and unfortunately, I didn’t enjoy the scent. It felt like it lacked the Ormonde Jayne magic i got used too. IMO going any further with my experience might bias your perception and first impressions, and I only left this review to help anyone considering ordering this perfume: please hold off and test it first. I was able to buy it online when it released, but I waited several months until testers were available so I could properly experience it and it was a good decision.

I must say that I was disappointed with this one. Indeed, extremely high quality ingredients and beast-mode performance. However, the vetiver takes a back seat and I find this OJ offering to be too similar to Roja's Apex, which is way too funky for me. Beautiful presentation (I bought a 10ml bottle) and definitely belongs in the niche category - just not for me.

A very intense scent! Very aromatic, vetiver-heavy, definitely masculine, unfortunately not for me. I am a girl who likes simpler, sweeter and sexier scents. This scent is very intense, although i do consider it beautiful! It's green, slightly minty, and I can hear the citrus notes in the background too.

When you talk about quality and beautiful man's fragrance, you can't get it wrong with this one. Interesting that this is even remotely considered a possible women's fragrance. Companies are just not sincere anymore - several of them used to make men's fragrance and call it exactly that, and vice versa, but today bottomline has clouded judgment. Maybe it's fear of being labelled as gender essentialists or criticised for being 'completely out of touch with progress', but I think frag houses need to get the spine back and boldly make (and label) men's fragrances as they are. Okay, enough ranting. Back to Vertiveria. Gorgeous fragrance. Smells like Apex Roja - the small 50 ml Apex Parfums Roja one. They're very similar to the point that if you have one, the other is somewhat redundant. I would take Apex's anyway for one simple reason - STRENGHT!!! I find OJ's take on this Composition a little weak than expected, especially at the £200 price point. Unless I got an "Eau de Fake" (which I doubt, given I purchased it from Selfridges), this quite feels like a rip-off as it barely lasts an hour especially on clothes. It goes really faint and almost unnoticeable. It in a matter of hours, it vanishes on my clothes and nearly gone on skin!! That underwhelming performance is what lets it down, otherwise a great fragrance. I love OJ as a house, and know what they're capable of so I will let them off this time.

Opens very masculine, with a clear lime, joined by orange which shapes the citrus note into something a bit fruitier and sweeter. The pepper is immediately noticeable as well, but kind of smooth, not overwhelmingly sharp and the sage shows as hay like to me. It is at this time very powerful in sillage and highly aromatic, yet the lavender isn’t particularly pronounced to me here. The heavy aromatics are later lifted and softened by sweet florals and an almond like tonka. Vetiver only really appears in the dry-down. It is a sweet, woody, a bit incense-like smoky, and almost a bit leathery kind. Longevity is on the weaker side. Leaning masculine. 5.5/10

Having said that I just received a sample of this in a mystery box. I will try it tomorrow. Based off of previous experience I do not hold out hope. We will see. Color me surprised. This is very pleasant. Way too subtle for me. This is a nice light citrus with a touch of spice. Elevator, and airplane safe. Good for hot weather. I suspect longevity is going to be an issue but I will enjoy it while it is here.

This is so good, yes there's a strong resemblance to apex but this is better, at least better than apex PC, here the opening and top notes hang around for the duration of the wearing which is a solid 8 hours, I'm reminded of Clive Christian 1872 heavily also, like a blend of 1872 and Apex , there will always be cross overs in perfumery but this is superb, i wish I'd bought this for the summer but its working well in winter all the same.

An iced peppery vetiver! Truly beautiful and completely unisex! Feels like having an iced lime juice in a hot day and laying on grassy earthy vetiver but there’s something iced and cooling about it. So refreshing and lovely. Typical OJ!

I really like this one, it's piercing fresh yet grounded in deep-green. I'm a bit confused that the little booklet that comes with the bottle lists musk and oudh among the heart notes, but doesn't mention vetiver. Typo I guess?

When you look at the notes I’m guessing maybe a cross between Tom Ford Grey Vetiver and Jo Malone Lime Basil and Mandaril. Looks like something I’d love...we’ll see!

A refreshed version of zizan. Which I loved from this house as it's hard to find zizan. Would definitely be interested in this.

This perfume gave me the same feeling in the back of my throat that I would get if I smelled a bag of plain potato chips.

this is being pushed by the influencers, it's a very dry wood not mass appealing in my opinion.
