Megamare

Fragrantica should add a new meter on the longevity rating slider, right after eternal should be "megamare". Longevity? Yes, this is another level. I sprayed this on a face cloth, 3 sprays and hung it in my bathroom last Friday (8 days ago, 180 hours ago), and when I walk in my bathroom I still get a whiff of it. Now mind you this is not putting my nose to the face cloth and still smelling a scent, this is 6ft from the door to the towel rack, (I measured it). I don't come closer than 2 feet to this face cloth and I get an occasional spritz of megamare. Which brings me to projection. As far as projection goes, it acts exactly the same as the face cloth on my towel rack while you're wearing it. This does not radiate and fill up a room with a permanent inescapable scent that your constantly smelling everytime you inhale. It may be attached to the wearer or an object and filling an area with it's molecules, but you only get mild whiffs of it typically with movement. So it sits silently and reveals itself in the gusts of air passing your nose. How does this smell? To me quite simply it's a mature slightly salty, musky, cold ocean air. There is warmth to the fragrance almost like the warmth of the ocean water acting like a blanket when you're submerged on a chilly day. But aromatically it's reminiscent of gusts of a salty cool ocean breeze. The aquatic smell/note here is very raw, definitely synthetic, not very realistic to any real smells of the ocean but it's simplicity is very elegant and it does what it's intended to do "be marine". I definitely get a musk in this and probably ambergris or some synthetic version of it, both giving the marine note a mature fragrance vibe and adding perhaps a slightly salty sweaty vibe(not b.o.). This wears like a perfume, it does not smell like you were near, around or in the ocean. It's not a scent projecting out an aquatic environment. It's a mature refined, relatively simple aquatic fragrance. It's classy. It has deep down a root that's present in all of the orto parisi fragrances, it's carries a particular vibe that you really need to smell to understand. This is not a challenging scent, the only challenge to this fragrance is making a commitment to putting it on and figuring out how to get it off. On skin this will survive a shower and sometimes multiple showers, on my skin it's actually hard to detect after about 8 hours, but it's still there. On clothes this is another story, I've managed to get it out of a tee shirt lightly sprayed after just one wash(laundry mat, commercial washers). Although I have had tee shirts that keep the scent through just one wash cycle. I wore this to the gym on a sweatshirt and forget it, it still smelled pretty strong of megamare after one wash, so I just dedicated it to wearing this scent. Fortunately I don't have much of a wardrobe it's mostly hoodies for the gym and plain white tee shirts and work clothes. If you have an extensive wardrobe and like to wear fragrances on clothes like I do, and you really like this scent, perhaps start planning on buying 2 pairs of everything, one for you and one for megamare. I've worn this multiple times now, and this is really a scent that needs multiple wears to really appreciate. It's become quite an addictive captivating fragrance. I first tried it from a 1ml dabber and really was underwhelmed, It wasn't what I was expecting from the reviews I read, I thought it would be very loud and polarizing. Although I could tell there was depth to the fragrance and really needed to spray this thing and test it out a few times so I just went ahead and ordered the 50ml bottle. I would definitely order another bottle of this if or when it runs out. It's quite unique. Back to the face cloth on my towel rack in my bathroom, still spritzing out wafts of this aroma, 8 days now. I'll try to update this review with the time in which this continues to not quit. Edit: Day 10 now, this hasn't let up on the face cloth. Still catching whiffs of it in and out my bathroom. Day 11, four times now today caught whiffs walking into my bathroom. I think sometimes it's getting stronger. Day 14, now 2 weeks on the face cloth, I caught a whiff earlier today taking a shower. Day 16, I thought this was gone because I didn't recall smelling it in my bathroom yesterday, but today I got a big whiff of it walking in the bathroom and then again this afternoon. Day 20 just when I thought it was gone, nope. Megamare creeping into the shower this morning. Day 21 (3 weeks now), got whiffs of this walking OUT of my bathroom as it travelled in the steam created from the shower. Day 25 ok so I think this has finally thrown in the towel(no pun intended), the past couple days I haven't gotten wafts of it in my bathroom, but I can smell it if I put my nose to the face cloth. So I think it's safe to say you could classify megamare as a bargain fragrance. If you plan on wearing the same clothes for 25 days, you won't need to reapply. :)

What can I say that hasn't been said already? Not a lot if I'm honest but i will anyway as it's worth repeating. What I do write will be purely my opinion and emotional response, whilst doing my best to disregard all others views both positive and negative, nah scrap that bit about others views, impossible with such an infamous scent. Just my true feelings it is then! Firstly, I became interested in Megamare for two reasons; 1. I was already a huge fan of Lorenzo Pazzaglia' Black sea, a truly immense fragrance. This was recommended as a slightly darker take on that fragrance. 2. I also wear Orto Parisi' Cuouim. The depth and spectrum during the wear of this scent is just mind blowing. So it seemed a perfectly natural evolution and a no-brainer to invest in a bottle of Megamare. Right, here we go. As recommended, I decided on two and a half sprays for my first try. I waited a few seconds after application to take in my first inhalation expecting an initial hit of citrus. Yes , it was just about in there, but only a minor note in comparison to an all powerful cascading, stormy sea at midnight. Gale force winds, sea salt and the oceans very own vegetation enveloped me completely, never once did I feel out of my depth though! This IS a darker, slightly more menacing brother to Black sea, was the best comparison that came to mind. I knew instantly I'd began a journey. I am now into a couple of hours of wear, still unbelievably relentless waves of angry ocean are washing over me constantly and rhythmically. Just absolutely stunning, even more so with the occasional offering of plant life. A further several hours down the line and it's pretty much the same, if anything a little darker but the strength, sillage and projection have not noticeably declined. Pure unadulterated wild ocean. It's a linear fragrance in that it seems to persist in it's saltiness and algae/seaweed/citrus notes but it's changed in its intensity and balance, seemingly angrier. So I guess it evolves too in a manner! Now, a natural comparison to Black sea. The Lorenzo Pazzaglia scent is a storm approaching with the waves picking up and wafting sea spray and Myrtle over you time and again whilst driftwood accumulates on the beach as you walk along the dunes. The fragrance is a good hard slap in the face possibly two! Megamare is standing in the ocean waist deep at midnight in dark gale force winds being momentarily immersed time and time again whilst covered in seaweed between hits. There are numerous wrecks littered about this rocky outcrop, in various states of decomposition. If black sea is a slap around the face then by comparison this fragrance is a full on headbutt followed up by a couple of kicks to the stomach as you try to pick yourself up off of the stormy, wreck ladened beach! I love them both dearly, I really do. On a day I feel I want a little oomph and a reminder of what I love about the coast, I'd choose black sea. Other days when I'm feeling especially emotional or just need to feel something deep and even more stirring then it's Megamare. By contrast it's nice to wear them on reverse of what I said above too, a bit of an emotional juxtaposition. Megamare is not a pedestrian fragrance at all. It's an emotional journey in a bottle, just what an indie/niche fragrance should be in my opinion. Yes it's a Kraken in its strength and projection but it's also got an inviting and compelling quality that is comforting and life reaffirming at the same time. It forces you to feel alive, a sense of worth and of adventures and experiences to come! So, who wears this. Anyone who likes it! Try it and see, you'll never know otherwise. Male or female, young or old it doesn't matter. Megamare isn't bothered one jott. Wear it whenever and wherever you like, if you take to this scent then you are unlikely to care for others opinions anyway so make yourself happy! If you don't enjoy it, I personally respect your view but Megamare still doesn't care! Just strap yourself in and enjoy the ride. If it's too much, have a ride on the slightly tamer roller coaster that is Black sea. Either way you are truly in for an exciting and compelling experience. Sorry for droning on but I felt compelled to give this product the review it truly deserves. I love it completely, just as I also adore Cuouim from the same house and the above mentioned Black sea. Super powers of the perfumery world 🌎. If you find something that provokes a response against the gloom and monotony that can be everyday life, grab it and hold on to it!

Megamare – Orto Parisi I reached for Megamare because I read: "marine, salty, intense, controversial." And I got exactly that. Only in the version: everything that has ever gone wrong with the sea. The first hit smells as if someone took an old rusted fishing boat that has not seen a dry foot in forty years, poured in a bucket of Baltic stormwater, and left the whole thing to ferment at 28°C. After an hour, a clear note of wet, rotting mooring rope arrives. Old fishing nets full of dead jellyfish. The bottom of a hull where someone has been vomiting pickled herring for a decade. In the base there is a beautiful accent of salty, rotting whale skin, washed ashore one summer and never cleaned up. There is also the subtle but unmistakable smell of an old waterlogged diving suit found in a dead sailor grandfather's wardrobe — the kind of object that should have been buried with him, for legal and emotional reasons. The whole thing smells like the inside of a rusty barrel where fishermen kept salted herring for thirty years, and then someone urinated in it. Longevity? Like trauma after a ferry disaster in a winter storm. On skin it sits for sixteen hours. On clothes — until laundry. On the soul — for life. Marketing says "For lovers of marine scents." They should have written "For people who want to smell like the bottom of the sea after an oil spill and the death of three thousand fish." Rating: 9.5/10 I deducted half a point because if you spray this on your bedding, for a week you dream you are drowning in the ocean with dead mackerel as emotional support. Recommended. Especially if you want people on the street to turn their heads and whisper: "Something died here... but elegantly."

Megamare – Orto Parisi Kupiłam Megamare, bo przeczytałam „morskie, słonawe, intensywne, kontrowersyjne”. No i kurwa... dostałam dokładnie to, czego prosiłam. Tylko w wersji „wszystko co złe w morzu”. Pierwsze uderzenie pachnie jakby ktoś wziął starego, zardzewiałego kutra rybackiego, który od 40 lat nie widział suchej stopy, nalał do środka wiadro wody z Bałtyku po ulewie i zostawił to wszystko fermentować w temperaturze 28 stopni. Po godzinie dochodzi wyraźna nuta mokrej, gnijącej liny cumowniczej, starej sieci rybackiej pełnej martwych meduz i dna statku, na którym przez dekadę ktoś rzygał śledziami. W bazie pojawia się piękny akcent „słonej, zgniłej skóry wieloryba”, który wyrzuciło na brzeg w lipcu 1998 roku i nikt go nie sprzątnął. Do tego subtelna, ale wyraźna woń starego, nasiąkniętego wodą kombinezonu nurka, który ktoś znalazł w szafie po dziadku-marynarzu, co utonął na Heweliuszu w 1993. Całość pachnie jak wnętrze starej, zardzewiałej beczki, w której rybacy z Helu trzymali solone śledzie od 1987 roku, a potem ktoś do niej nasikał. Trwałość? Jak trauma po rejsie Heweliuszem w sztormie. Na skórze siedzi 16 godzin, na ubraniu – do prania. Na duszy – do końca życia. Projektanci napisali „dla miłośników morskich zapachów”. Powinni napisać szczerze: „Dla ludzi, którzy lubią pachnieć jak dno Bałtyku po wycieku ropy i śmierci 3000 ryb.” Ocena: 9.5/10 (odjęłam 0.5 punktu za to, że jak spryskasz tym pościel, to przez tydzień śni Ci się, że toniesz w oceanie w towarzystwie martwych makreli). Polecam. Zwłaszcza jeśli chcesz, żeby ludzie na ulicy odwracali głowy i szeptali „kurwa, coś tu umarło... ale elegancko”.

I definitely think this is a love it or hate it scent. It definitely gives off oceanic, but not in a stinky unpleasant way. Seaweed often smells fishy but here it's very well balanced with just enough to give ocean, but not overpower the other notes. It reminds me of the the smell of a northern road, Rocky coastal beach, like in the Pacific Northwest. It's cold, it's wet, but it's definitely not unpleasant. The best way I feel I can describe it is like a waterlogged piece of driftwood on a rocky beach in cold weather. All of the notes blend really well together and are easily identifiable on their own, and each of them blends a depth and well roundedness to the scent. As for the longevity, it absolutely lives up to its reputation. It is 38 hours since I have initially applied the perfume and I still smell the Cedar notes well enough that I cannot put on something different and it has not washed off. I did not apply lotion or any moisturizer. Before applying the perfume, because I don't always moisturize before applying a perfume and I don't think that everybody is going to consider that when putting a scent like this on. It can and will transfer you to your clothing even if it is dry on your skin before you put your clothes on. A little goes a long way. I used two sprays on one arm transfer that to the other and one spray on my sternum. The arm that had the transfer lasted about 12 hours. The arm I sprayed on still carries the scent. Normally I wait to write a review until after the scent has completely disappeared from my skin. At this point I don't know if it's ever going to disappear fully.

This one has surprised me a lot, I got a few samples and left this one out after reading the reviews. Where I’m from Orto Parisi is extremely hard to get a hold of. I’m in Milan for business and have a free Saturday before I fly out tomorrow and thought I’d go fragrance shopping and see what brands I can’t get smells like. So I tried Mega Mare along with a number of other and every time I came back to it I thought it was something different because the way people go on about this I was expecting something that smells like a rotting fish. And every time I smelt it I thought that’s really nice, it’s salty, has an element of freshness and I get a very slight sweetness from it strangely enough. I really liked it so bought it and when back at my hotel have sprayed it on a test strip and every time I catch a smell of it I think it smells really nice. It goes to show that you shouldn’t go purely by people’s comments here and try it for yourself. I don’t understand why there are so many comments saying it’s disgusting, it’s pretty nuclear and yes you need to go easy on the sprays but it’s so unique, last ages and smells clean and so interesting. I’m not one to go for weird and wonderful, this gets a bad rap and shouldn’t, try it and make up your own mind. Here’s to my new summer banger!

2 sprays, forearm and chest, to test skin and fabric. At first blush, the obscenity of mangroves. Have you walked past mangroves at low tide? It's an experience that even someone who has lived on the beach their whole lives still struggles with. An hour later, once the scent has had time to dry down and settle into the skin, briny seaweed on sunkissed skin with a touch of spice, an Australian Christmas. At this point, I had my coworkers ask me what they thought of it. First, they asked "what perfume?". Ah, so I wasn't imagining that the sillage became much more intimate in the dry-down. Perhaps it is that I have perfume-killer skin, perhaps it is that they were being polite to not notice it, perhaps it is just that my daily work scent Scandal Le Parfum is more aggressive still. After leaning in, most seemed to think it was "OK", "masculine", "very cologne-y", take it as you will. After work, my skin smelled only slightly salty-musky-woody. My shirt retained the seaweed. Neither survived the wash. I have to assume many people are overspraying or are unfamiliar with the headache-inducing effects of ambroxan on many people to have given this perfume such a reputation. Challenging at first, but charming and familiar once comfortable, so much like the sea itself.

This is the fragrance that started my fragrance journey. A hungarian dupe was given to me as a gift, and I completely fall in love with it. I was waiting with the purchase of the real one, but finally I did it. And it was blind buy, because I never smelled the original before. What is interesting, that in the beginning I smell something like an empty cigarette box, I can feel some tobacco in the begining, even though it is not in the precicted list of notes. As it dries down it becomes THE OCEAN! the literally ocean. It feels like a vacation where you are unlucky with the weather. When the skies are almost black, dark grey, the wind is blowing, rain starts to pour and you are just sitting on the beach, smelling the angry ocean. It is something very unique. Lot of fragrances that has sea or ocean notes in there are usually more likeable, because it doesn't give back the real ocean smell. They are like clear water sea with some citrus. But this, this is the exact ocean in one bottle. Unique unique and unique. And as others said before, it is beast mode, also in projection and longetivity. Never experienced anything similar before. 10/10 scent in every ascpect, but yes, it is not for everyone.

To many, Megamare is a beast of performance. To me, it’s simply home. I was born in Chioggia (Venice) and, although I didn't grow up there, every summer and winter vacation was a journey back to my roots, to my grandparents' house. This fragrance is the liquid memory of those returns. It’s the raw, piercing smell of the seawall (la diga) in February, walking toward the lighthouse with my grandfather. It’s not 'beach' water; it’s the smell of salt and iodine that never leaves your skin, even when the wind tries to bite through your jacket. There is an immense power in this scent, but also a deep, silent melancholy. It doesn't scream 'summer'; it whispers of the abyss. If this fragrance were a film, it would be The Lighthouse — monochrome, gritty, salt-crusted, and hauntingly beautiful. It is a fantastic creation, but highly polarizing: you either love it to death or you hate it with a passion. Also, be warned: it plays tricks on your senses. It disappears from your radar, only to come back and hit you when you least expect it. Longevity: Eternal. It’s not a scent you wear; it’s a scent that adopts you. Vibe: For those who don't just love the sea, but respect its darkness.

Megamare took me by surprise. I am rarely seduced by marine scents, they often smell like straight seaweed and dirty waters. Yet this one is different. It evokes the sea in a very transportive way, and then wraps itself around me with a kind of clarity, maybe from the bright notes. There is an unmistakable “fresh-from-the-waves” sensation here, very mineral, but purified, refined, like you had the time to dry-off and shake some cocktail after slicing lemons, where the zest splashed on your fingers. A very romanticized Mediterranean moment. Marine scents can easily become overwhelming, even tyrannical, so I approached the spraying with caution and gave it only a single spray on the wrist. It gave me a steady, graceful presence from beginning to end. Nothing struck me as jarring or excessive, a welcomed contrast to something like Aphtoblue where I rushed to wash it off. Megamare is, simply put, beautiful: sunlit, saline, and Mediterranean to its very core. I am not sure how well someone could pull this off in a city without a sea close, but it is definitely wearable and appreciable if sprayed in moderation.

One of the most polarizing scents I have ever tried - I love it! It's is all over the place, in a mostly good way. I got a 1ml sample of this during a very specific time of my life when I was deep into niche, artsy fragrance brands. To start, I love what Orto Parisi are doing concept wise. It's refreshing for a marine scent take on a 'sea monster' concept in contrast to the generic 'Italian riviera' vibe of every other major perfume. And it pulls it off quite well from the bottle to the scent itself. This thing develops from 'melon-y' as my colleague described it, to a salty freshness, to a very dark chemical scent. I love the first two phases, kinda hate the last. I've received a lot of attention wearing this, most of it positive, which is surprising for a scent this niche. The performance though... nuclear. One spray filled the entire office, so don't overdo it. Even though I had a positive experience with this, I BEG of you do NOT blind buy. Like every other Orto Parisi frag, it won't be for everyone, but I do think this is more accessible than the rest of their line.

100% reformulated, the latest batches are night & day. I’ve never had a batch 1 year apart smell so different. This isn’t the only one to change but it’s definitely the most obvious. I imagine something or multiple things got banned because there’s no way. Older batches had better quality but less uniform caps, a light grey-blue color & a ton of depth. The older batches also have this edgy quality & a much more obvious ocean theme. 2025 batches are bright almost turquoise blue. Much more dye & a less fitting palette. The scent seems to be just as strong but lacking detail. Some of those details like sweet woods peak through & make older batches seem stronger but they both last for days. The scent is much more mass appealing but the trade off is simplicity. It doesn’t have seaweed or that slightly dirty edge. Instead it’s much less complex, more clean & heavily reliant on calone. New batches smell much more like Black Sea. Still better than Black Sea but now the difference has shrank significantly. Actually disappointing, It’s not what Megamare was.

I absolutely love this perfume. The only thing that is stopping me from wearing it everyday is it's terrific longevity and sillage. I feel like its now impossible to remove the scent from clothes unless deep cleaning them haha. I have yet to hear from anybody that they don't like the smell but I'm sure it can give headaches to somebody when smelling it for a working day in an office. I also want to talk a bit about the aromatics. Citrusy top notes fade out very quickly for me though the whole pyramid is definitely there. I sometimes feel more of seaweed as a salty marine smell, other times I feel like bandages, other times I feel musk, and sometimes even metallic notes. General scent remains the same but it's fun when all these various notes hit the nose. I think there is some nose blindness to this smell as many people have said to me that megamare has filled the room but I barely sense it. Also I'll note that the perfume is extremely difficult to remove completely from the clothes.

This is nowhere near as scary as people make it out to be. I read about it and was very interested and decided to blind buy it, which again people have said not to do. However it is very likeable and inoffensive, the only offensive you will have is if you over spray. IT IS VERY STRONG. and lasts and lasts and lasts. I have washed a shirt it was sprayed on and came out smelling like I have just applied it. Does smell quite synthetic at first but then this totally changes after about an hour in. One note that sticks with me and i cant seem to shift it, or forget about it is a strong Celery type note. Definitely try this if you're intrigued by it like I was, don't believe everything you read on here describing this as divisive or polarising. Its easy to wear and comfortable to wear all yeah round. Just a tip though wear this outside when you get a chance you'll appreciate it so much more because sat indoors in a closed environment it will give you a headache for being very strong.

Another review as this thing just keeps elevating itself more and more (for me). Sample after sample, and it's disappointment after disappointment as I've become more and more picky. I grab and spray my bottle of Megamare, and decide that 99% of the samples I order can't hold a candle to it. Uplifting, so much depth, and quite simply intoxicating! After trying to find fragrances that give me the same feeling as Megamare, it's become almost pointless, as it's very very rare I find one that even comes close to it. I've decided I really only need a collection of around four fragrances, and Megamare's versatility will be key in this collection. IMO it's suitable for both day and night in warm/hot weather, and for day time in colder weather (I'll have another option in my collection for cold nights). Simply a master creation and a rarity in that I never get sick of it! About the only 10/10 I've come across. For my tastes this is perfection.

I first smelled Megamare's dna through Megara, a sweeter but overall decent dupe from Maison Alhambra. I honestly didn't like the smell so much at first but felt intrigued enough to order a 2ml decant of the original a few days later. And it eventually clicked. Besides its monstrous longevity and very strong projection, Megamare is also quite a fascinating scent. I could probably never say it smells "good" but for some reason it has a magnetic effect which has me consistently coming back for more. And some days Megamare is simply the only fragrance I want to put my nose on. This particular mix of synthetic marine saltiness and sweetness is like nothing I've ever smelled before. It completely stands out compared to other aquatics and its uber potency just adds to this out of the ordinary sea-centered olfactive experience. Definitely try before buy but absolutely worth putting your nostrils to the test.

I have to comment again after wearing it at the summer vacation, its is almost 10 days of wearing it every day and I'm not getting the expected strength, after about 3, 4 hours im getting an almost skin scent, even after 4, 5 sprays on my neck and chest, even my wife is not smelling it until I come close and ask her if she can still smell it on me. After about 7 to 9 hours when I come to the apartment to shower, the scent is weak, a little wiff of it is barely noticeable on my shirt, but as people has said it, it tends to make a person noseblind, so I'm really not sure what to think of the scent, maybe my skin is the problem. Maybe my batch is weak, I ordered it directly from Orto Parisi so I know I'm not getting a fake one, too bad the mark of the batch is erased so I can't proof it. Can someone confirm that some batches are watered down and weaker that earlier batches?

when I smelled it for the first time, it instantly took me back to a memory I had when we went to a family vacation more than a decade ago and stayed in a hotel by the beach in late October; I went for a walk along the beach, the weather was cloudy and there was the remains of a demolished housing unit, only two concrete walls remaining near the water, with a small opening for the window on one of the walls; and I peeked through that window space and took in the smell of salty air, wet sand, wet concrete, and the seaweed and sea shells that were washed up on the shore. the memory was so vivid that I could even remember the sounds I was hearing at that moment! so naturally I fell in love with it! although, for me, one spray of this is quite enough.

One spray and this is the sexiest fragrance I own. I thought people lost their minds when they'd say Megamare is simply a fresh fragrance. With one spray I can see their take but there's still nothing simple about Megamare. It is fresh but also warm and spicy, with one spray, and still incredibly strong. If you apply more than one spray it looses it's nuanced intrigue and becomes an out of control sea monster that will overtake any place you go, and you will experience bouts of nose blindness followed by cloying assault of laser sharp salt mixed with warm musky body odor. One spray and it's masculine, sex in a bottle. It took me a year to realize how wearable Megamare actually is. I fucking love it!
