L’Amour-Esse 142

L'Amour-Esse 142 is from 2021 and is part of the fragrances created for the female audience. The creative concept came from the fame that the french have of being the best lovers in the world and from what the fragrance of the woman who waits for her lover would be like, at the time of encounter. By the way, the number 142 represents the date February 14th, when Valentine's Day is celebrated in several countries. Classified as white-floral, it brings together notes of pink pepper and freesia at the top; Orange blossom, ylang-ylang, and heliotrope, on the body; Sandalwood, vanilla, and musk in the base. On the skin, L'Amour-Esse 142 proves to be a well-succeed fragrance, taking as a parameter its output, which tends to reveal something that most women already know. It's not completely strange to think of things like: “Really, another variation of La Vie Est Belle?”. However, L'Amour-Esse 142 reveals a more immediate balance and reinforces that small adjustments in certain accords are capable of completely changing the evolution of a fragrance. Especially, if the raw materials are of better quality. Here, it is necessary to understand that a single supplier will have the same ingredient with different qualities and values. And that also influences – and a lot – the result. On my skin, L'Amour-Esse 142 opens with a drier freesia (not quite powdery) and quickly reveals an opulent, vibrant bouquet. The ylang-ylang comes with more jasmine facets and a satin aspect that dominates most of the evolution and, consequently, the dry down. The orange blossom gives an air of freshness and gives the balance needed to contain the sweetness I imagined when I sprayed it for the first time. In a subtle and elegant way, the heliotrope brings a creamy sensuality and the base gains vanilla tones, without being too cloying. The floral bouquet then gains woody tones and a reinforcement of longevity, thanks to musk. What used to seem more like a flanker with the use of Ethyl-Maltol, turned out to be more contained and, as previously mentioned, more balanced. And when they make comparisons with the fragrance of La Victorie Intense (Eudora), it is worth saying that they are not entirely unfounded. However, the latter is fruitier and sparkling, with a more aggressive floral side and a sweeter drying. L'Amour-Esse 142 exudes more strongly and has a beautiful and tireless orange blossom note. In the end, they belong to the same family (Boticário Group) and are like cousins who live in different countries. On vacation in Brazil, the French cousin goes to the samba court, not knowing how to dance. She is more restrained and swings her arms with her index fingers pointing up. The Brazilian cousin is more voluptuous and has samba on her feet. They have similar tastes for fragrances, but their perfumes are made in different countries and therefore also have different prices. For those Brazilians who assume, without guilt, that they do not invest in Brazilian perfumes, because the imported ones present a better cost-benefit, here is an imported perfume that belongs to a Brazilian company. And the bottle, by the way, leaves nothing to be desired for those used by brands like Boucheron or Annick Goutal, for example.

Devo não saber analisar corretamente as notas de um perfume ou o material foi danificado no transporte até minha casa. A questão é: eu só sinto uma fava tonka fortíssima nele, um cheiro de uma que incendeia o ambiente com um floral que te ataca o nariz. É um perfume comum usável em dias de trabalho, frios e nublados. A projeção dele é ótima e não deixa a desejar em fixação. Eu gostaria de sentir mais da baunilha.

The concept may be very chic and cool BUT the fragrances are extremely boring. All of them on the gourmand spectrum, kind of smelling similar. Is there a problem in following trends? Of course not! But they could've created at least one chypre, one oriental, one fresh floral... But no, they're all the same ethil-maltol mixed with some flowers and fruits. Disappointing.

NOT a blind buy. Is there indole in it? On me, there's something fecal to it. Put that together with the powdery notes, and you get used pampers. Make sure to try it first, it may not work with your skin chemistry.

About this Amour-esse: an oriental with tonks of tonka and vanilla. Bold, strong, if softly applied it smells sexy. It can be overpowering. Try this if you like Zara Gardenia, Black Opium or Girl of Now.
