Oceane

I bought this as a mostly used bottle on eBay along with a mostly full bottle of Outremer Violette. I love it!!! It lasts long enough on my upper chest to fall asleep and still strong on my night gown in the morning. Who knows, it could last for hours on my skin, but since I've been using it as a "scent to lull me to sleep" its anyone's guess. I also love the Violette. However, both my and my husband's favorite Outremer fragrance is the Oakmoss and we're fighting over the last bottle as it's one of the hardest ones to find. I was wearing Outremer's Oakmoss on our second date and he said, "I could wear that!!!" I gave him a bottle the day before our wedding so he'd have for our big day. I wore his second favorite scent on me, Pacifica Lotus Garden (now discontinued but found a dupe just a couple of months ago...read my review on that one) on our second date and honeymoon over 25 years ago. Glad to have all!!!

I love this fragrance, For me it evokes the image of standing on the railing of a boat on the Chesapeake Bay, with the wind blowing, and salt water spraying gently against the hull. It's the truest 'marine' fragrance I've ever smelled, with that little bit of a salty brine tinge to it. However, I find the scent on its own to be a bit too simple for my taste. I always layer it with other scents to make them smell more aquatic. So far my favorite pairing to layer this with are Phlur Lost Cause, or Versace Eros. It doesn't last too long but I don't mind much because it is inexpensive and can reapply once it fades.

Love it. Simple, clean and fresh, can pair with anything at any time of year or day. The only issue is it is a little basic and doesn’t last as long as other perfumes but such a staple, definitely more feminine and perfect if you just want a fresh and inoffensive scent. I don’t smell anything other than freshness (no citrus but maybe slight florals?) so is great if that’s what your looking for.

Happiness, salty spray in your face, being miserable in the cold on a ferry boat. Aquatic, loud and very direct. It isn't easy to wear, you really have to be in the mood. East coast lobster fisherman who just washed up in the showers and blasted himself with astringent aftershave, yet somehow compelling.

Fresh with a pleasant salty sting to it. 🌊 doesn’t really smell like the sea or an ocean because it lacks a seaweed/algae kind of note, but still a fresh aquatic. It does have a metallic tinge that might be off-putting to some, but for some reason I like it.

This is a lovely little scent. I have fond memories of wearing it on my first trip to San Francisco. It's unfussy, inexpensive, and nice to wear without any of the pretension that comes when focusing solely on sillage and longevity.

One of the best, most direct, and least expensive ocean scents out there. I love aquatic scents, so fell in love with this right away. I like the Outremer line for offering interesting scents at reasonable prices.

Outremer Oceane is a light aquatic scent that evokes memories of the coast with a crisp sea breeze. I wore Oceane everyday in June 2012, it’s excellent for summer! The perfect refreshing sea scent!

I bought this because it smelled exactly like the sea air of the beaches of Puerto Rico. A very nostalgic, salty scent that I love!

Aquatic - yes, it does indeed smell like the ocean. Nice, inexpensive. Lasts longer than the Bath and Body Works ocean scent. I bought myself a little bottle for the summer. ---- A later wearing: For what it claims to do, what it does and how little it costs, it's probably the best fragrance made. As the title suggests, it is a straight up ocean ("marine") scent. When I sprayed it on my chest this morning it was a perfect olfactory representation of being slapped in the chest by a cold wave. A total success. Made in France. You can get a small bottle at an Anthropologie store for $10 U.S.; a larger one is $18. --- Update: For me, this is primarily a warm weather fragrance. When it's warm it invokes the ocean. When it's cold it smells indistinctly floral, not so much oceanic.

Probably my favorite summer scent, especially if I'm going to be outdoors! It has a lovely aquatic smell with a hint of white florals and that clean, almost laundry like smell. It doesn't change much on your skin which is really good for warm weather, and won't become cloying if you get all sweaty like some scents can do. I have the 15ml bottle that you can get for 10 bucks at Anthropologie, but I'm probably going to pick up the bigger one if I use up the rest of this one over the summer.

This perfume was a great summer find for me. Bright and crisp, Oceane is a splash of deep ocean with a slight ozone tang. It's pretty one dimensional, so there's little change in scent throughout the wearing. Because of this, I found it to be ideal, and really only suitable, for summer weather. Outremer Oceane is an easy and relatively inexpensive summer fragrance for the person wanting something seasonal and uncomplicated.

it's okay? the hype around this made me think this is going to be revolutionary, but i find that Outremer does basics, truly recognizable scents that everyone has smelled before. they all carry a sense of familiarity that people -including me- seem to romanticize. this to me felt like a mall perfume that was offered at the counter in a glass bottle, and i got it as a kid because a perfume in a glass bottle was fancy to me

A potent aquatic- very sharp. This is not a gentle, sun-screen-y, summer-y beach fragrance. This is a cold, dark, stormy ocean. Smells quite unusual to me, but not unpleasant. I have to be in a very specific, contemplative, gloomy mood for this. I sort of love it- sometimes. Not a safe blind buy for those who don’t want to be punched in the face by freezing, salty waves.

I've been obsessed with salty ocean scents since before I can remember; I got this from Anthropologie when I was in the 6th grade, one of the first fragrances I'd ever picked out for myself. It's a simple unisex scent and can be overwhelming at times. But if you love it, you love it!

I requested that someone bring me a gift from France and received this. I wore it a few times but it has been relegated to a room spray as it is such an unusual scent as a perfume. It's not entirely displeasing but it's also not entirely lovely. The only ocean I have been to is at the southern NC coastal ways, the scents of which are not something you would want to capture in a perfume. That being said, I would reiterate that this scent is more reminiscent of a room fragrance than a personal perfume.

I want to like this so bad. it smells to me like a dingy motel by the sea with some mildew and a weird cleaner smell. every time I see it I smell it though because I want to like it so bad. I don't think I could finish a full bottle but I do want a mini to try and see if I can wear it. I love most aquatic scents but this one is hard to wear

the initial spray consisted of a very strong soapy smell to me, but then mellowed out into a pleasant salty, clean scent a couple hours later (still soapy, but in a subtle way). i could definitely envision myself wearing this on a beach day, but i would hope its first-spray potency would dissipate quickly after entering the water. 6/10

I hated this when I first sprayed it because it had a really strong dated teen boy cologne smell- the kind of fragrance that would make me instinctively avoid a guy at a bar. But a couple hours later, it dries down to a soapy scent: still boyish, but in a fresh and clean way instead which I much prefer.

This is definitely unisex depending on what season you wear it in ! I got this on a nice warm Sunday day and it smelled lovely then the very next day it was rainy and cold and smelled more like a cologne. Still can’t decide if I like it or not my mother loves it on me but I’m still unsure it kind of smells like dawn dish soap ? but not in a terrible way..... it is fresh and clean but not in they way I was expecting it to be

I expected to like this. But on me this was more reminiscent of a brackish pond than any ocean or sea. I gave it two good tries but can’t stomach giving it the benefit of the doubt a third time.

I sprayed this on, and I got your typical marine-cucumber-honeydew scent. It's very pretty and oceanic like laundry detergent, but once it hit my skin and warmed up, it soured quickly.

I absolutely despise this fragrance. To me, this smells like the shittiest hand soap in the grimiest bathroom. A scent that belongs in a fish-themed softsoap bottle. There is a distinct, pungent note of sweat that makes me genuinely very sick to my stomach. There is also an extremely off-putting metal note that makes this fragrance reminiscent of a public bathroom in a NYC park. A good candidate for the worst fragrance I've ever smelled. This smells truly terrible, I cannot imagine why someone would want to wear this. It's like this fragrance was sent up from hell just to give people migraines. I pray this is taken off the market ASAP, no one should be given access to this chemical weapon.

To me, Outremer Ocean smells like the gray sea waters of the Atlantic ocean on an overcast chilly autumn day. A metallic note reminds me of sunken ships washed up onshore. Salt is noticeable. The sea water note does not have a fishy smell to it at all. Oceane is a cold scent that is best sprayed lightly. Too many sprays create a dark bitterness. Lightly sprayed it's like a sea breeze on a cloudy day. Oceane lasts on my skin easily 8 hours, and longer on fabrics. Totally unisex, Oceane would be good layered with other marine scents to enhance salt and sea notes as well as improve their longevity.

This opens up with an enjoyable burst of grapefruit. It then transitions to an indistinct light floral, and citrusy aquatic scent. Thankfully the calone note is more cucumberish rather than melon. I wish that I could smell a salty facet to this scent and that the ozone note was intensified. Its unisex but leans toward masculine. Nevertheless, I like it a lot and think it smells good on me but even better on my husband. Nice for a really hot and humid day where you don't want anything too sweet, heavy or astringent.

Actually, it's tangerines. It's lovely light tangerines with possibly salt on them and a white flower hiding in there (orange blossom?), but it's citrus all the way, not sea air or salty ocean. Nice light, very pretty, very sheer and very faint as in cheap and won't last long, but I like it and it WAS cheap. Not salty sea though, darnit.

I just bought a tiny bottle with a sprayer of this in the atlanta anthropologie store. It's like a very clean laundry fresh scent. Someone reviewed it smells like melons and cucumbers and stuff, I agree with that person and its floral and breezy. Nice for office or just when u wanna smell clean.

I came across this fragrance just poking around in a clothing store....and fell in love!! It's the perfect fragrance for warm, humid weather. It is crisp and fresh and I think, it does smell like the ocean! I bought 2 bottles and what I am not using, goes in the fridge for safe-keeping :)

The first aquatic I have ever loved. Aquatics have always been my least favorite style of perfume and I have never found a bottle I wished to add to my collection until Oceane. Summed up: High end sea-inspired laundry detergent~ Thank you to my brother for gifting me this I love you!!!

I know the notes on this are just supposed to be salty sea, but this really really reminds me of Elizabeth Arden's sunflower perfume! I love it and it makes me feel cozy, somehow I feel like it works year round for me. It's aquatic but there's a warmth to it as well.

Great scent! I wore this all summer, its great for a day at the beach! However, make sure you use it because after having this for 3 years, it turned to alcohol :( amazing scent, very exotic, but use quickly!

Absolute scrubber. I ADORE aquatics and fresh clean laundry fragrances, and love a great bargain, but this made me absolutely gag.

So aquatic, slight floral, very little musk--so fresh and so clean clean--I love this scent and it loves me:)
