Swann

This perfume is simply astonishing, without a doubt one of the most complex fragrances I have ever encountered, and breathtakingly beautiful. The union of opulent roses, resinous textures, and a musky-woody base gives Swann a remarkable complexity: it moves seamlessly between floral softness, green freshness, and earthy depth. Its texture is so vivid that it almost feels edible. If I were to assign it colors, they would be green, pink, and brown—flower, leaf, and soil. It radiates with rare intensity. Swann stands as a precious vintage olfactory object, captivating with its classical structure, its fleshy rose interwoven with mosses and resins, and its enveloping, richly textured sillage. I own a miniature from the 1980s and will use it with great restraint. I am completely under its spell. P.S. has nothing to do with Paloma Picasso. That perfume is markedly animalic, driven by civet notes and a dense, fleshy carnation accord, with a raw, almost feral character.

This isn’t what I tend to like, but this is mild and clean on me so I have no problem with it. I actually get mainly a dry, powdery, floral with some green and woody notes. However my skin tends to amplify powdery notes so this will likely be different for everyone. Feminine, but not overly so due to the lack of sweetness and mild florals. Safe for daywear as it is light and not too strong. Try before you buy if you are iffy about less sweet, or a bit more woody/green perfumes though.

Oakmoss bomb with a touch of floral notes, S. has good lasting power and decent sillage. S. may be too intense for modern tastes used to musky fruity scents, but it's worth a try for anyone who likes sophisticated perfumes. A little goes a long way, in the best way possible.

A strong and full rose is by far the leading note, ...but it is influenced by oakmoss, and likely patchouli, to be especially rich, bright, and limpid. Yes, the rose is also somewhat modified by other florals, such as jasmine. I am enjoying my rediscovery of this largely forgotten rose-centric banger from yesteryear. If one wears this out where sophisticated noses can appreciate it, intrigued inquiries will surely follow.
