Aqua de Dora

The notes listed don’t do this fragrance justice. This is stunning. First of all, although none are listed, I sense a lot of herbals and aromatics in this. More so than any aquatic notes. Opening is sparkling, realistic citruses with a lot of wild and garden herbs. No specific herb jumps out, but reminiscent of perhaps verbena with thyme or other greens. Crunchy, watery but mimicking rain or morning dew more than sea. I don’t get sea at all in this (no salt, no seaweed, no brine, no fish). There is prominent wood and soft green fig (more leafy rather than milky). I don’t detect any chestnut. Mid dry down is mostly citrusy with woods as the greens recede a little. Woods are dry but also a little warm (sandal). Sillage is crispy yet the trail is prominent even several hours in. 5+hrs it dries to cashmeran, woods. At this stage the dewy aspect is nearly gone. Woods dominate with quite a bit of zest still present. Good longevity for a spring-summer fragrance. Past 7hr mark and still detectable. Leaves the most enticing, fresh scent. Like a Nordic wiking - with strong presence, one with the nature, true to the Scandinavian experience. This is smth that hasn’t been smelled too often before and really an under the radar gem! Disclaimer: I am a female and when I bought this I was not aware it is marketed as strictly masculine scent. I would describe the opening and mid stages as unisex. From mid to late dry down stages certainly becomes more masculine. But a female can pull this off no problem. I can see this being layered well with softer fig, citruses or even minty fragrances to swing it more to the unisex-feminine side if one wishes so.

I have Bvlgari Tygar and Aqua de Dora and they do in fact smell very similar. Aqua de Dora seems to jump off of the skin a little more than Tygar and is a little more tart. The quality of Aqua de Dora is top shelf but I can't justify the price-tag. Buuuuuut, if you have a few hundred dollars burning a hole in your pocket and are looking for a summer-stunner that will garner complements and last just about all day, Aqua de Dora should be at the top of your list! We hit 80 degrees last weekend and wore this outside while around family and friends. Sprayed it right out of the shower and was around people all afternoon till around 9pm. Got 3 complements (one of them was from my wife) and caught wafts all day long. It is strong and can easily go nose-blind....so go easy with the sprays! It's fairly linear and doesn't go through any drastic changes. Grapefruit and ambroxan is what I pick up the most throughout the day. If you spray it on your clothes it will easily last 24 hours. I could smell my shirt in the laundry basket the next morning even before I got to the laundry basket!! Is owning Aqua de Dora redundant if you own Bvlgari Tygar? Yes, I think it is. But, if I had to choose one or the other, I'd pick Aqua de Dora. Tygar is no slouch but there's something about Aqua de Dora that checks all the boxes. Cheers!

Within 4 months of use and 20ml gone, I think I can give a pretty well put together thought on this. A very good fragrance for everyday casual wear but also can wear to everything in my opinion, as the ambroxan just gives it such a strong back bone and the freshness from the grapefruit and fig is a joy on your nostrils. Very sharp lemon peel in the opening that is later accompanied by tangy, pretty addictive grapefruit. I personally find that the lemon peel stays too long, but I’d say it’s just me not being an overly big fan of it. Once in the mid, I find this to be the most delightful part and just super addictive. Hints of masculine ambroxan along with bitter grapefruit and fruity, slightly sweet fig. A genuine perfect mix. Cannot rave about this part enough and think everyone should try this fragrance just for this part. Personally I like Bvlgari’s Tygar the most out of this dna, due the candied, sherbet grapefruit smell that I get from it being sensational, making it my most beloved fresh fragrance ever but I would put this in 2nd with Sospiro’s Vibrato in 3rd.

This is a very nice addition/take on the L'Immensite, Tygar, Vibrato etc. DNA without being redundant if you own any of the afore mentioned. As others have mentioned, the Chestnut and Cashmere are primarily responsible for the variation which makes this scent truly stand apart from its competition. It's a bit pricey but I do believe it's just as good, if not better than the others we find ourselves paying as much or more for. Well blended, quite smooth and the performance is very good which more than justifies the price point. This is more than blind buy safe if you enjoy grapefruit dominant fragranges and I highly recommend getting your paws on it. Very much looking forward to and intrigued by other options from this House as a result of the tremendous first impression Aqua de Dora has left on me. FYI...I do get the Afternoon Swim comparison as previously mentioned in reviews and it only adds to the phenomenal scent profile.

My favorite fresh fragrance - noted that this still has great complexity and nuance to it. Total blind buy, total success. It's one to give me chills! The Vibrato + fig + chestnut experience is real - a nutty-fruity citrus forward fragrance that develops into a soft musk. Very non-synthetic, quite real, juicy ripe fig, with a bit of darkness to it while being ultra versatile and crowd pleasing. Paid around $140 for 100ml, full pres. Worth every penny and might even be one I end up having to get another bottle. Between this and Vibrato (I do not know Tygar nor how it smells, but it's impossible for it to not smell quite similar to Vibrato), I choose this every time, or maybe 9/10 times. Vibrato is fresher, more invigorating while this has enough to get me through warmer days of winter even. Perfect signature.
