3 Fleurs

Sticky and waxy pollen nectars slide down the petals of jasmine, tuberose, and rose. The galbanum opening is watery and slick, an ooze from freshly cut green stems. The jasmine is the first to make an appearance in the heart layer with soft citrusy facets, a touch of indoles, and a heady and honeyed character that is, mostly, an effect of the tuberose already playing upwards. Red roses connect the jasmine and tuberose in this layer with a soft powderiness and a fruity angle. But then, 3 Fleurs unleashes the tuberose. Marc-Antoine Corticchiato loves to recreate classic structures, and 3 Fleurs is his 80s tuberose. The name is a bit misleading because, yes, there are three distinguishable floral notes to 3 Fleurs, but inarguably the star is tuberose. It carries and takes over the heart section of the perfume. The tuberose flower naturally radiates its aroma, much in the same way jasmine does; it attaches to the air like iron filings to magnet and can float over distances that baffle the mind, especially when you consider that it's closely related cousin, the standard rose, needs your nose up close and personal to largely capture all that the rose has to offer. Corticchiato does a splendid job of giving this tuberose accord the radiance it has in nature. It's warm and creamy headiness, vanillics, aggressive white floral facets, and the thin but sharp green note around the edges levitate off of the skin and fill the air without closing it off. It's big, it's rich, and it's powerful, but it's not on top of you. It takes a long time for the tuberose to dry down to the base layer, but when it does there is a very coherent and superbly executed transition to animalic white musks. The animalic facet of it is a natural link to the heady and creamy character of the tuberose, the gray and white soapiness to the white floral facets, the slight earthiness of the musks to the vanillics. As always, Corticchiato's dry downs are superb, even when they are superbly simple as in 3 Fleurs. Where Corticchiato puts his own spin on the old spinning top of 80s tuberose perfumes is with his signature clarity and precision. Every note, texture, and facet that make up 3 Fleurs is readable and detectable; it's not a soupy amalgam of white floral notes, and chypre or amber materials, in the way many 80s tuberose perfumes were/are. Less is more, and 3 Fleurs is an exercise in minimalism. A small number of great materials impeccably balanced by a masterful blending hand is sometimes all it takes.

On me, starts out strongly floral with a cooled green tuberose, reminding me of Tubereuse Couture by PG and Tuberose Ciminelle by Lutens, but after a few minutes calms with a musc tone and a balanced middle rose. One spray is enough, do not start with more, in fact this may be one of those perfumes it is best to spray into the air and walk through to have skin and clothing be as lightly misted as possible; this will bring out the facets. It lasts tenaciously and of course, blooms out in summer heat, but holds its own in strong AC as well. Parfum d'Empire with this, Cuir Ottoman and Le Cri, is becoming a favorite perfumer for me, unique, with a multi-faceted personality that reveals itself over time and across its range. Bear in mind this is one that will overwhelm the nose and make it impossible to appreciate if you over apply, meaning it takes a very small amount and as finely misted as possible. Definitely try as a sample first and give it some time. I was lucky enough to be gifted this one. Romantic in the extreme, rich, yet fresh and uplifting. Getting the impression from the other remarks that this is one of those perfumes that acts itself out very differently on different people.

A modern interpretation of a grand floral! What comes to my mind as equal in style and intensity are Joy by Patou, No 19 by Chanel and Diva by Ungaro. I adore this fragrances and never for a moment I belived that I would find a new fragrance living up to their standards. By style I don ́t mean that they are alike in notes or in composition. No, the style is a GRAND FLORAL with a wonderful intensity. My taste are normally not so much for tuberose or jasmin as the leadplayer. No, I am more towards the rose as the mainrole. But as with every fine fragrance you dont really care. It is its personality that really matters. This is classic with a modern twist when it comes to notes and composition. The wonderful way this scent behaves on my skin makes me belive that its a masterpiece.

Im falling in love with the whole range. Im not usually that into florals but even this is a new love. Its a bright intense, tuberose, rose and jasmine opening that certainly clears the cobwebs. Over the next hour the galbanum, ylang and geranium come into their own. Galbanum and mint just have such an uplifting affect to any floral fragrance. All of these notes could be too much and headache inducing but they have been handled with great skill and kept balanced. You do need to love the rose geranium note to really love this. If your a lover of florals then you must try this! Its the fresh "good to be alive" smell of an English country garden in June. Moderate sillage and longevity.

Indeed 3 Fleurs is very similar to Joy and Jardin de Bagatelle, being an absolutely gargantuan mixed floral of sharp and heady texture. There's an almost gin-like clarity to the scent, giving to my nose the effect of some kind of tincture of fresh flowers. These flowers are extremely heady and ripe though, brimming with pollen and soprano in vocal scale. A challenging prospect for modern times, but this will be much enjoyed by big blousy 80s floral lovers.

3 types of flowers: rose, tuberose and jasmine. masterfully accompanied by a touch of mint and galbanum. just blooming flowers. fresh greens with an animalic moss. when you are tempted to say that this is an old style perfume, the green of this masterful interpretation makes you understand that it is not old style. maybe a little soapy, but not old style. excellent performance. definitely unisex. 9/10

My god this is gorgeous! It is the perfect blend of flowers making it smell classy but not old or dated. I’m happy the galbanum is toned down in this. When I wear this I just want to lie on my couch and just BE; inhaling the beautiful wafting scent of paradise, sigh...

This is a powerful scent for a self conscious woman. I didn't know that a flower perfume can act this way. I was never into flowers, but whit this masterpiece I'm starting to change my mind.

As can expected from the name, this is the most floral scent I've encountered from Parfum d'Empire. 3 Fleurs is a huge floral bouquet, alternating between syrupy, powdery, tropical and camphorous. I can best describe it as a fifties-era Joy dressed up for a Poison-loving 1980s audience. There are facets of old-world glamour thanks to the copious florals, but it is also falls foul of being "kitchen-sink-y". The florals are heady, even cloying at times, with excellent performance (not always a good thing!) There is a lot going on here. In fact, there are several more than just the titular "3 Fleurs" at play. Rose, jasmine and tuberose are the three flowers in question, but ylang ylang is dominant to my nose. 3F opens with bold, creamy ylang ylang, sweetly tropical and slightly syrupy. The mint adds an inescapable camphorous undertone, perhaps enhanced by the green galbanum. The mint-ylang accord is overpowering - the olfactory equivalent of high humidity in a tropical location. The effect is quite narcotic - an assault on the senses. As it develops, tuberose emerges, another bold white floral. It appears tropical here thanks to the aforementioned notes, marrying seamlessly with the other notes, tempering them somewhat. Clean, powdery jasmine rounds it out as it progresses. I get some green-tinged muguet later on when the mint-ylang subsides somewhat, and some geranium adds a herbal green tint - a nice progression from the mint. It is primarily a white floral perfume to my nose, at least initially. The rose is powdery when it does emerge, only getting a chance to bloom after the tropical opening fades a little, but 3F is a white floral scent for the most part. It becomes a musky white floral scent as it dries down, with the powdery jasmine dominant during this phase. Sillage is strong and longevity is long-lasting. It is feminine to my nose, being a sweet floral, and is a transeasonal day-to-night scent. 3F is old-fashioned, but not in the old-world, elegant way I expected - the syrupy, tropical effect thanks to the mint-ylang accord is too cloying and takes from the lush florals of the title. Still, not a bad composition overall - it just isn't the kind of white floral that I prefer. To be applied sparingly. 3/5.

Initially, when I smelled the bottle in the store, I was hit by a blast of extremely indolic jasmine, Patou Joy style. On skin, the indoles are much more subdued. The jasmine and the tuberose make for a lush, just dirty-enough combo, and the ylang ylang warms up the ensemble like a pair of golden earrings. The rose note feels cool and luminous, owing to the supporting notes of mint and galbanum which add a very welcome freshness that is surprisingly long-lasting. The three flowers can be easily be distinguished, though on me the rose does dominate. Projection is initially huge, but after 6 hours of wear, it's a very polite skin scent. A fantastic hommage to traditional French perfumery. Definitely recommending floral enthusiats to give it a try.

3 Fleurs was launched together with Wazamba and presented at the Florence Pitti fragrance show in September 2009. it is a lovely pretty white flowers bouquet. The first thing I thought when I first sniffed was: which are the 3 flowers? At first you cannot distinguish them properly as they are well blended. But as soon as the perfume warms up you can smell Bulgarian rose, Egyptian jasmine, and Indian tuberose. Rose plays the main role here. I also smell a hint of Lily of the Valley and a very present Jasmine. Some Peony as well (although not listed!). Very elegant and feminine, still has some freshness. It reminds me of Creed's Fleurissimo, but perhaps younger looking and more easy going. A really pretty one.

I was drawn to 3 Fleurs after seeing the comparisons to Joy by Jean Patou. I love Joy. This is NOT by any means a dupe for Joy. 3 Fleurs is a pretty, tuberose, jasmine and rose centric floral fragrance, with rather poor longevity. The opening is very rose-forward. As it develops, the tuberose and jasmine take over (especially the tuberose). This transition happens very fast, and the scent is gone after about two hours. The scent is fresh and dewy and very tame. Office friendly and inoffensive, but kind of flat. It lacks plushness, sparkle and has none of the hint of mischief that characterizes Joy. I rated it as overpriced, because although it's not crazy expensive, it's way too expensive for what it is.

I tested this one a few days ago and I liked it quite enough, but I was drooling about Andy Tauer's Une Rose Chyprèe left on a sweater, so I didn't pay the deserved attention to this one. It is very very very floral :-) It also has a fresh quality and it's never cloying. I would wear it in springtime with silk clothes. It is a thriumph of all gardens with white flowers, very feminine and elegant and IMO is absolutely similar to a better version of old Guerlains' Jardins de Bagatelle. A must try for floral ladies, only apply sparingly.

As much as I want to praise the fragrance but the only incredible part about it is the rose in the first hour or so It was magnificent After the second hour mark the white florals get a hold on the compound until the end Performance was good The scent itself is probably more suitable for ladies I would like it on my significant other but not to wear it myself The brand has good offerings although not every scent is worth mentioning

I loved this, for a few seconds. It started off as a glowing, radiant bouquet of pure flowers. But then it got incredibly sweet, like over-ripe pears or the syrup from tinned mangoes. It's softened a little now, but it's still very sweet and syrupy.

I am trying a tester sent to me by one of my lovely Fragrantica swappers. Reminds me of Creed Fantasia des Fleurs and Etro Vicolo Fiori. Flowery "older" scent. Doesn't last long on me, nothing to write home about.

Nice, but not very unique, floral bouquet perfume. The fruity facets of the flowers are prominent, giving the scent a fresh, juicy character. To me, it bears some resemblance to BDK's Bouquet de Hongrie.

@hedwiginberlin description is perfect. Thats how it totally smells. Watery over-ripe fruityness that feels a bit revolting. And btw, mine has turned. I had to throw it to the bin because it totally turned off. I have some vintages and yes, the top notes are off but you can still get the heart of the fragrance. Not in this case...it is completely gone and useless =(

Vintage floral slightly modernized to be wearable. However be warned you will smell like you just left a mosque or just went for a very intense hug with your grandma and her scent stuck to your shirt. It's not bad, it's just looking for the right person.

There are definitely some rose stems and thorns thrown into 3 FLEURS along with the truckload of petals as well. This is the kind of perfume which must make those from the “Women have no business smelling like flowers” camp really want to cringe. All flowers, all of the time, is the story here. Unfortunately, although I categorically reject the above sophism (emitted by some sort of serious twit...), this particular BFFF does not appeal very much to me. Although I survived a long afternoon trapped in a cloud of this greenhouse perfume, I have to confess that I was not disappointed when it finally faded away. Somehow the composition seemed inharmonic to me. Too much this, not enough of that. Too loud and pushy, overall, even lightly applied. The dirty greenishness delivered just a bit too much of the dreaded greenhouse effect, IMNSHO. Not on my wish list. Désolée.
