Corsica Furiosa

Corsica Furiosa is my last Parfum d'Empire perfume to review. It was my introduction to this great, underrated niche perfume house, and is also my personal favourite from them. I have always loved green scents, and having been very disappointed with the performance from modern Chanel No. 19, otherwise the gold (green?) standard, I looked elsewhere for a modern green scent. I tried this in a boutique, and fell in love with its lush, verdant beauty. It is in keeping with others from this house, i.e. evocative of a specific place/time, made with natural-smelling ingredients, featuring a chypre base and a full-bodied, creative composition. CF is inspired by lentiscus, a fragrant, evergreen shrub that grows on the leeward slopes of Corsica, but it also is a love letter to Corsica in general. I have yet to visit this island, but CF paints a vivid picture in myriad shades of green. There are no florals here, or other notes to take focus away from the green. The leathery chypre base is a seamless and logical development for a scent of this profile in my opinion. CF is boldly green from initial spray, fresh and slightly camphorous initially thanks to the mint and citrus. The mint is herbal and restrained - the best way to handle it in a perfume. My dad grew tomatoes in his new greenhouse this summer gone by, and the tomato leaf note here is photorealistic - green, tart, aromatic, slightly herbal and radiantly fresh. It marries beautifully with the opening notes, paving the way seamlessly to deeper shades of green. It becomes deliciously grassy as it develops, damp, lush and realistic. I cannot remember smelling a grass note as realistic as this before in a perfume - it smells freshly-mown as well as like dewy, young shoots in the springtime. There is a dry hay note that complements it, paving the way to the mossy chypre base. It gets woody as it develops, smooth and resinous, enhancing the green accord to perfection, giving an impression of the entire shrub. I get oak in particular. It becomes mossy and slightly leathery as the chypre base emerges, a fitting conclusion to this scent profile, rounding out the green accord. The grassy plains evolve into the entire forest here, woody, mossy, leafy and thoroughly green. The balsamic amber accord ties it all together beautifully. The labdanum adds a smooth leather undertone, with a drop of honey adding sweetness. There is a tartness here thanks to the mastic note, but it is all so cohesive. The amber base simply serves to enhance the mossy greenness. It fades to a mossy, musky skin scent, green until final fade. Sillage and longevity are moderate. A unisex green chypre, CF satisfies my craving for a good green scent in the spring. There is no fig, no tea, no sour white florals etc. to found here - this is verdant green greenness throughout, to the point, no messing (featuring a chypre base, of course, but that's perfection in my book). CF is a worthy modern alternative to vintage greats like Chanel No. 19 or Balmain Vent Vert. I must try Sisley Eau de Campagne for comparison. Lush, verdant excellence. 5/5.

Green Thunder in a Bottle Corsica Furiosa feels to me like nature with the volume turned all the way up. From the initial spray, I was hit with a sharp, dewy snap of tomato leaf - fresh, tangy, and gloriously alive. The greenery isn't polished or ornamental. It's wild, sunlit, and stubbornly untamed. As it develops, I think the lentiscus adds a beautiful resinous depth, while the moss anchors everything in a damp, earthy foundation. As the brand talks about, it can remind one of the idea of walking barefoot through the Corsican hills after a summer rain, when the ground is still cool and every plant seems to be breathing. The official notes suggest there's a touch of sweetness, but that's never been my experience. What I get is chlorophyll, crushed herbs, mineral-rich earth, and an endless sea of vibrant green. It's crisp, invigorating, and completely unapologetic about what it wants to be. If you're drawn to the scent of crushed stems, broken branches, and wild landscapes, I think this is one of those fragrances that can steal your heart from the very first sniff. For me, it's green thunder in a bottle.

I’ll start describing this perfume with a color: mist-shrouded green . It feels cold, verdant, fresh and as smooth as marble. Almost like the scent of moss-covered wet stone. The opening is pure cut grass; so green and fresh it’s like freshly mown lawns after the rain. Then heavy grey clouds roll in. A wet, cold wind hits your face and the rain begins. The bright green turns muted, shaded with grey. Somewhere, round grey stones glisten as they’re drenched by rain... and that’s the perfect moment. It’s springtime; you’re wearing a delicate dress, now soaked through. You’re shivering, yet watching as nature’s lush greenery is slowly veiled in shadow. The lentisk (mastic) resin in this fragrance is everything. I’m convinced it’s what gives this scent its depth, its darkness, its melancholy and its mist. The drydown is my favourite part. As the perfume develops, it takes on a full witch-doctor aura: the herbal and balsamic tones grow more pronounced. It feels like a potion brewed under a stormy sky, humming with forbidden magic. Green, green, green. Mastic that makes zero apologies. I've got a weakness for mastic and it's so hard to find in perfume form, but this scratches the itch with aplomb. It's crisp, grassy, like snapping a stem and inhaling. Tomato leaf to the tenth degree. Furious indeed - a little green monster and we're not talking jealousy. As it wears a honeyed note peeks through. It's energizing and a surefire mood lifter. I do get the hair product comparison to some degree but nothing that ruins the experience of the wear for me. There's very little remotely like this out there and for those that love it it'll be true love, believe me. The only other mastic scent I know of that does it for me like this is Airborne - Hussein Chalayan though that one is more of an airy transparent juniper/mastic combo as compared to Corsica Furiosa's more grounded romp in a patch of hay and tomato plants. A sincere thank you to Parfum d'Empire for putting this out there. They're a strong house in general with excellent vision.

Corsica Furiosa is an aromatic green fragrance that lives up to its name! This is a furious fragrance indeed, at least in the beginning! If ever there was a reference for the familiar 'cut grass' fragrance description, this is it. It's built around mastic, but it's grass, hay, moss, mint and tomato leaf that dominate. It's one extremely unusual scent indeed! I was thrown for the first hour or so, unable to get a footing on where this baby was heading in it's sharp/furious opening salvo. Then it settles a bit and opens the door to a little labdanum and honey, which sands off some of the angularity and buffs down the noise levels. With those faders pulled back a little, CF becomes a real gem! All the grass, hay, tomato leaves last throughout, and a touch of mint tempered by an incense like base makes this a unique head turner indeed! A surprise packet and a total thumbs up here!

As an absolute lover of green, herbal or aromatic scents I couldn't wait to try this and Mal Aime by the same house (if you are in Europe their discovery set it such a great deal. You can hand pick 5 scents from their collection for 22 euros including postage) This is everything and more that I hoped it would be. You could smell it and think about wet, ultra green, sharp, spring summer tomato plants having just been watered in the sparkling sunshine, and then in another sniff you are freshly showered wrapped in a towel in your garden, walking on newly mown lawn, crouching down to grab a handful of wild mint to make a pot of refreshing tea. It reminds me a lot of Aesop's Tacit, in it's wetness and vivacious greeness, but instead of mint and pepper it leans into the tomato and grass. I love both this and Mal-Aime and I am going to find it hard to choose between them.

I had to sample this because I am a lover of anything tomato. Compared to Margiela's From the Garden, Miller Harris' La Feuille or Celadon, or even the famously tomato-less tomato in Diptyque's L'ombre dans L'eau, I find the tomato leaf note in Corsica Furiosa to be shy and light-handed on first application. As it dries, the fresh spicy familiarity of the tomato leaf shines through more prominently, but a sharp, dewy grass and pepper dominate the top notes, assisted by a quickly-fading honey note that grounds the initial surge of stemmy green. Then the lime surfaces, alongside a mint note so indistinct that I must ask myself if I'm imagining it. Sadly, I'm getting zero hay. I was hoping the hay would introduce a dry earthiness, but the fragrance doesn't suffer without it. The projection on this is rather weak on me, much to my disappointment.

An uncompromising perfume that knows exactly what it is: spring in all its lively violence, rolling messily in the grass, lambing season, sharp sappy leaves budding out practically overnight. No sweetness, no flowers, no bullshit. The tomato leaf makes a bold and pungent statement right out of the gate, but is firmly anchored on a deep woody foundation (presumably the mastic) with just a hint of funk to keep things interesting. I might be making it sound less wearable than it actually is; despite its ferocity it doesn’t come across like one of those love-it-or-hate-it “acquired taste” frags. It’s also refreshingly dry and tart for a green fragrance: think Mediterranean hillside, not jungle. I bought a full bottle.

This is one of my favorite scents to mix with others that need to be lifted up and freshened. It’s helped me create some of the most beautiful concoctions a nose has ever smelt. But it’s gorgeous on its own too. It’s a scent I think I’ll take to my grave this is my Chanel 19 which surprisingly I’ve never actually smelt haha. But this (and leau de Merzhin for the iris aspect specifically I guess) satisfies my needs enough for a galbanumy green green green scent I’m not left wanting and wondering maybe the grass is greener on the other side. No this is as lushly green as it gets just put the damn thing on and enjoy the sun on your skin I promise you’ll enjoy it

Perfume as a piece of art This is a 10/10 fragrance that received the Fragrance of the Year award 2015 by the Fragrace Foundation. This fragrance is the true meaning of niche and it is one of the best gates to the world of (REAL) niche fragrance. This is a perfume that is created for its own artistic purpose, not for marketing, mass-pleasing, or any other purpose. The fragrance was created by Marc-Antoine Corticchiato who grew up on a beautiful island named "Corsica". I am sure this perfume is very meaningful for its' creator and it is a bridge to the emotional world of his childhood. This is for professionals who understand the scent and respect it. 10/10

I got a decant of this from a friend on this site and I'm glad I did. I likely never would have sought this fragrance out. I don't have many fragrances like this in my collection but I'm going to add this one when my atomizer runs out. Green burst opening. Tomato leaf, green, aromatic goodness. As the fragrance progresses through its notes you can smell the sweet flowers of the countryside. Close your eyes and take a stroll through your garden. These thoughts are very pleasing to a fella eager for Spring to arrive. Update: Well I've done it. I ordered the 100 ml bottle just now (3-21-16). I had no choice! I couldn't stop smelling myself.

I have been searching for some time for a green scent that really wows me, especially one that doesn't fade after an hour. This checks every box and has become my new favorite scent. The description is quite accurate, as it is green from top to bottom. It's starts quite leafy, like those of a tomato or dry-land shrub, then unfolds into this really soft green garden smell. Not floral, but fresh. Energizing, as the perfume house describes it, but grounding and earthy. I also love that it lasts all day! It's gorgeous, reflects my love for gardening and sunlit greenery, and I couldn't be happier. Thank you Parfum D'Empire for making this!

Oh, this smells exactly as I hoped it would. Green, green, and... you guessed it... more green. Eau de Campagne is a fair comparison, though I notice differences as I test them both. They share a similar vegetal heart, but EdC is marked by a prominent citrusy zest that the sweeter CF lacks. I am happy to report that this has much better longevity than its cousin, at least in cold weather, sticking around for a good few hours. It also projects! I wouldn’t quite call it strong, but CF speaks while EdC whispers. All of this is to say that Corsica Furiosa rules. I can’t wait to try it again come June.

Corsica Furious is a scent that truely reminds me of a summer vacation spent on this island. Not the beaches and the sand, but the hot afternoons up the hills amidst shades and Mediterranean greenery. It is a very dear memory so I am naturally fond of the perfume even if it is not my ideal match. It is indeed green, dark green in a sunny way at the beginning. Later on I sense a hint of tobacco underneath pines. I think this may be a good scent to layer - maybe on top of a gourmand body lotion in cold weather, or a floral hair mist for a night out in summer.

A natural, herbaceous and sharply green scent. One of my favourite types of perfume are those that take me to gardens and landscapes that I have not visited (yet) and this one is a bit of a triumph from that point of view. I think it is the mastic note that makes the point of difference. EDIT: to me, mastic smells very much likes crushed peapods, which brings back some nice childhood memories. Very much enjoying 'Corsica Furiosa' which does have a bit of sea air about it, even though there do not seem to be any aquatic or marine notes in the profile.

One of the best representations of tomato leaf I have ever worn. This is a garden fresh salad with grass, herbs and a citric balsamic dressing. So fresh that what you are eating is crunchy. Beautiful worn on a warm spring day, Corsica Furiosa reminds me of a more wearable and modern version of Sisley’s Eau de Campagne. Jean Claude Elena might have been the muse for this creation, but Corsica Furiosa firmly stands on its own merits. This will be an acquired taste for most people— there’s no discernible floral note, no sugar. I happen to love it.

Tested on skin on a hot afternoon: Strong opening with an invigorating equal blend of bitter sweet citrus/slightly herbal soft green leaf, gradually adding some wildflower sweetness, settling down to a very elegant whole. I suspect this may be one of the most beautiful portrayals of subtly sweet fresh 'greens' out there. Seems versatile, spring, summer, natural, good performance, perfectly unisex. PS The more I wear it, the more I love it, the way it breathes the sweet tomato greens off my skin is just delicious! Lasts all day.

I am a green scent lover and after watching Luckyscent introducing this perfume, I went to buy it blindly. I die... oh gosh... so in love with it! Super ultra green! I don't think anyone around you will smell something like this because I have not smell something like this before. Its so gorgeous.... I feel like I'm in an enclosed secret garden with green grass and a little hut containing hay and there rock covered moss everywhere. Strongly encourage green scent lover to get this!

Brimming with life and green without compromise! It's green how green should be; resinous and bitter, peppery, and with lots of punch. There's just a splash of citrus and a tiny swirl of labdanum for balance and to lend Corsica Furiosa some sparkle and mystique. I enjoy wearing it very, very much, especially in spring and early summer, but I realize that it might not be for everyone. Also, one of the few truly non-sweet fragrances out there. Love it!
