I visited Parfum Satori salon in Roppongi, Tokyo and tried it (Satori Osawa is a very elegant Japanese lady). Black peony is oriental fragrance with delicate, velvet floral scent, not too heavy. I do not think the citrus smells obvious. There are some twinkling spicy hides in the sweet vanilla, but it is different from the fresh citrus. This is a warm, sweet and sensual scent, especially suitable for cold weather.If you like oriental floral amber (or vanilla), plealse give it a try. I bought a full bottle and really enjoyed it.

I bought this during my trip to Kyoto at a charming little perfume shop called Le Sillage Kyoto. After smelling nearly all of the perfumes, I finally settled on this one and Murasaki no Ue by Perfume Satori. And I am so glad I did. I generally do not like peony fragrances, but this one is truly amazing. On my skin at least, there is something almost incensey about it. It smells earthy, yet classy and feminine. The dry down is my favorite part; it becomes a cozy smell that is somehow very familiar and addicting. Stays very close to the skin.

-Opens similar to Orchidee Vanille from Van Cleef & Arpels. -Overall, a generic sweet citrus scent-one that leans more sweet than citrusy. -As an avid hater of orange blossom, I'm glad the note doesn't feature dominantly in this. -As others have also pointed out. Black Peony is a low-projection skin scent for the most part.. (-)
