Iris Homme

Stunning .... every time I wear this I appreciate it more. Very fine mist spray, requires a few presses to get staying power up to 8h. You owe yourself the pleasure of sampling this IMO. This perfumer's creations are on another level whilst being so elegant and delicate.

Wonderful, quietly strong quality iris. Unforgettable, graceful and elegant come to mind. Fans of Prada iris and Tom Ford Noir would be wise to acquire this. It's like those but like ten times the quality. Unisex in my opinion.

It's fresh & fruity (lemon & violet) with a nice touch of spicy powdery incense; reminds me of SMN Citta di Kyoto, but slightly more masculine, which still feels unisex. Very elegant and "humble" like a Japanese gentleman!

Lemon, violet, and sandalwood aromas are smoothly fragrant. It is solid with almost no sweetness and even coolness. If you try it on considering that it expresses a Japanese worldview, you can imagine a man in a navy blue dyed kimono, but without such preconceptions, there is nothing noteworthy about it. It reminded me of a detergent that cleans office equipment. The performance is weak and the sillage is weak. It is like a thin cologne. I had high hopes for it because some of the aforementioned reviewers mentioned tomford noir, but I personally think it is like a different product. I guess the comparison is based on the top note, but still, it is like a lion and a sparrow. It just smelled like room deodorant that may or may not be there. Maybe if you want wabi-sabi in a perfume, it means to suppress it this much, but I think the presence of the fragrance is too backward and too specific. I feel it is too expensive for its performance and content.

Woody? Aromatic? Hardly! I get a huge hit of Parma Violets (highly flavoured perfumed candies, for non-for UK readers), which in my youth were popular among underaged smokers to conceal the stench of tobacco. Not the most attractive olfactory memory, but unfortunately this fragrance has the same impact. The violet note is so potent that it provokes the question "What would you smell like if you didn't smell of this overwhelming artificial scent?" Iris Homme is a kind of anti-perfume, not in the transgressive sense of presenting scents normally classed as "bad', but in the sense of obscuring the very fragrance it seeks to promote. I don't get the wild beauty of violet, iris or jasmine but instead sweet and sickly approximations of them. I could't wear this without feeling that I was peddling a lie.

Clean citrus, inoffensive smell with weak powdery violet in the background. No Iris whatsoever. I also get a faint carrot smell, really odd. I dont like it.

Marlen Harrison very graciously sent me a sample of this after I was one of the lucky ten commenters on his article about Parfums Satori. I've long been an admirer of Japanese aesthetics and culture, so I was excited to try this authentically Japanese artisan fragrance, which I wouldn't have easily been able to test, as this fragrance is basically only distributed within Japan. Iris Homme is a very fresh, bright, pretty interpretation of iris, which is one of my favorite florals. Lemon is the first thing to jump out and grab your attention. There is also a beautiful sweet powdery elegance brought on by violet. It is definitely a more minimalist style of perfumery -- there is no excessive adornment and the natural beauty of the notes are allowed to speak for themselves. Iris is a fairly dominant presence when added into a fragrance, and because of that, Iris Homme does share a similarity with fragrances like Dior Homme, but it is distinctly fresher and less gourmand. A big thank you to Marlen Harrison for letting me try out this refined Japanese fragrance from Parfums Satori!

A very elegant purple floral scent, combined with a refreshing aromatic note, with a hint of slight sweetness. The drydown is a little spicy and buttery. There are many natural materials here, violet leaves and orris roots are clearly noticeable. It's tender, silky and smooth, looks unisex to me, but I think the idea of creating an iris scent for men is good. When I bought it it was less than 115 euros, over the years it has increased in price a bit but it is still less than 130 euros. For those who think it is too expensive in EU, maybe you can try to buy it in Japan, I would say that for the original price of the perfume in Japanese yen, the price/performance ratio is very good.

Pleasant citrus opening which lasts seconds. From then on it's a fairly familiar iris-violet scent. There's indeed the infamous carrot smell lurking in the back. It's quite light and discreet. If you have smelled many iris forward fragrances, you may find this to be boring. However, I do get more violet than anything, so after a while, it smells like a soft, slightly green violet scent in my opinion. It's well made but the performance is definitely lacking. For €180/50ml, seriously overpriced. Nice, but not bottle worthy. 6.5/10

Elegant in a leaugue of its own. The dry spicyness is a masculine statement, but softenened by the beautifull iris, makes it ever so convincing. This is a masterpiece, and a wonderfull first class addition to mens perfumery. I love the outcome of this fragrance, and I think that this creation is a true work of art, speaking of mens perfumery many years ahead of its time. I already think of the fact that I feel compelled to hastily purchase another botlle, before it is sold out or even discontinued.

WOW!This is such an amazing fragrance!It's a slightly different take on iris,is very fresh, bright and green.Contrasting most of the European style iris fragrances I personally find IH subtle and very refined. A truly masterpiece. Thank you Satori for introducing me to your wonderful creations.

Perhaps it's just my sample, but I get mostly citrus... a huge punch of bright, clean, lemonadey lemon oil. There's a warm bed of lightly spiced sandalwood beneath it, and a soft musky texture all around, but I'm at a loss looking for the iris! It is nice, but not quite what I was looking for.

-Another standout from the house of Satori. -Amber-forward iris scent that is well-balanced. -Reminiscent of the older version of Dior Homme...but I'd refrain from quoting me on this; as this comparison is based on memory. (-)

Definitely agree this is a masterpiece. If cold metallic silver had a scent, I feel this would be it. Masculine of center, but could easily work on a confident female. Bracing and refreshing.

A little iris flower (not orris butter), loads of yuzu and a creamy sandalwood. Smells like natural perfumery! Artisanal. PS: not for me!
