Mizunara

Mizunara is a wonderful perfume, truly mysterious and double-natured. At first, I feel freshness and silkiness at the same time: lemon zest, sea water, cypress, ginger and maybe even something amber-ish. And after that, it comes to its dark side - alcohol and metal, gunpowder and labdanum. Although, I enjoy wearing it during the day at work. It gives the sense of inner strength and concentrated energy.

First I'll say HOS #3 is highly synthetic, and smells like an off the shelf scent from one of the big manufacturers like Firmenich, Symrise, or IFF. This one is made with much better natural ingredients. Think about a more complex and better made version CDG Monocule. This one reminds me of a sitting next to a pond in a tranquil forest, a breeze whisping through the trees overhead, relaxing with my thoughts. There's a touch of smoke as well, perhaps from a previously used fire pit in the distance. Maybe I'm sipping on some congnac or brandy, although I wouldn't say this one is boozy, it's more of a background player. The algae and tree forest notes and accords and pretty well composed. Leans masculine imo and performance is light. It's also expensive, and for that kind of money there are even more vivid forest experiences to be had. But this one is unique with the algae, booze, and smoky touches. Very easy to wear and enjoy, but I won't spring for a full bottle. Scent 7.2/10 Performance 5/10

Elegant understated Oriental Fougere. The perfume opens with aromatic notes of lavender, sage, galbanum and rosemary. The heart is a firm hinoki cypress surrounded by slight patchouli. The perfume settles on a base of tolu balsam and chamomile with slight hints of rose and labdanum. The slight masculine leaning scent has moderate sillage and longevity and is a full on display of minimalist Japanese aesthetics. Many similarities to the CDG Monocle series. Enjoy!

-Slightly odd blend. -Think, Masculine meets Feminine. -Clary sage, galbanum -> predominantly featured in masc-targetted fragrances. -Rose, chamomile -> predominantly featured in femme-targetted fragrances. -Overall: A strange blend, to say the least...doesn't quite help that this scent appears to have poor projection and longevity even for the house of satori. -From my blotter strip, Mizunara reminds me of stagnant water..or unscented tap water you keep in a bottle by the ironing board. (-)

Went to her place in Tokyo and smelled the whole collection. It's all good quality stuff. This was definitely my favorite. You can smell the sage, the barrels, the lavender, the slightly funky mossy aquatics. It's a lakeside spring walk for me. Could be my bias and experience talking, but it definitely feels very Japanese in composition. Subtle and restrained in performance.

opens fresh, slightly soapy, green then spicy, woody, a little mossy stays mostly cool & dry aside from a base of lightly powdery, milky, metallic, inky ambergris i used several sprays, medium projection for first hour and then became a skin scent
