Tiare Gardenia

It's a nice floral smell. It does have a tropical touch, but it's mostly floral and powdery. It's really nice and has a good sillage and longevity considering it's an EDT. I like how it smells in clothing. If you like white florals with a modern touch, you'll like this one. It's soft and safe for wearing in spring and summer. I have tried coco and vanilla and both are different from this one. Coco and Vanilla are, definitely, sweeter, but if you're looking for something more suitable for all occasions, then give Tiare a try. Edit (October 5th, 2021): Today I got Vanilla and Coco. I think Tiare is my favorite from the trio. Today, I changed it from "I like it" to "I love it." Tiare has also better sillage and longevity compared to them. Coco is nice and smells like coconut liqueur (yummy!), but it's too soft (and I mean, really soft). Vanilla is delicious and realistic, but I'd wear it on cold days, mostly. Tiare is for all occasions. Really good if you're a floral lover!

When staying in French Polynesian on a breathtaking island, this and its oil form (Monoi) were provided by the hotel. I used both regularly, the oil on my skin and in my hair, and this on my pulse points. This scent takes me back there, every single time I encounter it. Back to hot days with snorkeling, sun kissed skin, sand, horseback riding, and late dinners. I've smelled a number of Tiare scents since my visit there, but none evoke the memories that this one does. I have Tiare plants, and the blooms smell more heady than this fragrance. Perhaps it's not a true representation of Tiare, but this one is sentimental and magical regardless.

New year. New scent challenge. For the record, I'm an Autumn/Winter soul. I like the cold, I like the grey, I like the long nights. Give me forests of pine or falling leaves -- snow, smoke, sheaves of barley & rye -- long sleeves. Resins & balsams, animalic & spicy, generally suffocating in the heat, fragrances are my preference. Birch, leather, labdanum, & oakmoss, please. Summer is typically a season I endure and hibernate through. I don't do sun, I don't do sand -- I don't do tropical or humidity. Nor do I enjoy the taste or smell of most fruits, vanilla, or "marine" fresh anything. I strongly object to the inclusion of pineapple in any scent or dish. That said, I do have an affinity for the fragrance of tuberoses -- SL Cedre is, perhaps oddly enough, an occasional cool weather favourite... maybe more due to the woody, clove, & cinnamon aspects of the flower being accentuated, but, all the same, I do love fresh Tuberoses in a vase, too -- so I'm not completely adverse to the taste of the tropics I guess. Which brings me to TIARE... an exotic south seas island fragrance; sensual, voluptuous, & sacred. And something pretty far from the vast majority of my scent wardrobe - if not entirely unsafe, admittedly. Creamy and yet, not "foody" (again, loud Vanilla is a challenge for me). Heady and yet somehow "airy" - in an expansive sense. Surprisingly less saccharine than I fretted over, there's a powder and a warm skin-sweet carnality here. Simplistic yet sybaritic, and utterly transportive due to what I assume are (mostly) natural, A.O. ingredients. (Looking forward to layering experiments.) I've never been to Tahiti but in the beauty of the bleak mid-winter my imagination is far, far away. The reaction from loved ones, friends, & colleagues has been one of initial confusion, but not unpleasant surprise. Apparently TIARE rather suits me. Who knew? Happy 2019. ★★★☆☆ (silage is moderate whilst, especially considering the price(!), this is quite long lasting)

A very simple little souvenir from Tahiti. There’s absolutely nothing innovative or exceptional about it, but I like it. On first spray, I smell aldehydes (very mild ones), but the tiare very quickly takes over. It’s the star of the show. This sweet aldehydic atmosphere combined with that "island" smell made me think of Fidji. The two perfumes are completely different - it’s just an impression, an atmosphere - but this Tiaré Gardenia definitely has a lovely little vintage vibe. Perfect for summer or holidays, I’ll wear it with pleasure. Very good staying power for this type of fragrance, with surprisingly good projection as well.

This is definitely a white floral aldehyde, more traditional than the tropical name suggests. In fact, I'm surprised the aldehydes aren't listed, as they are the strongest, almost overwhelming, opening note. The aldehydes then dissipate to a powdery, then slightly leathery, combination of white florals. It's very strong and long lasting. Use it sparingly, it will last all day.
