1902 Violette

This is a classic violette toilette, light, clean, bracing, a bit dusky, unisex. I love to use this with other violet based fragrances as an initial layer. Also a good scent when you're feeling under the weather -- it's soothing. I do not get the fruity notes at all. This is an understated green violet, on the woodsy side. The bottle states that Berdoes has been making this formula since 1902. It does have a vintage feel to it . . . a bit powdery, romantic, and restrained. I adore it. I bought the larger bottle, which is lovely on its own, and so I can spash this freely instead of spraying it.

This is the violet to Pacifica's French Lilac - perfection! Four of five sprays of this, hold your nose just for a millisecond, and then let the comfort surround you with fragile purple gossamer webs. I find this cologne layers well on itself and provides the longevity it misses with such a spray or so. I never tire of this and I can't imagine loving another Violet even 10% more. Get this if you love comfort sprays.

A pretty violette candy smell, poor longevity (lasted 3 hours on my skin) and sillage is intimate. Yet, for the price, I find it so comforting. A great bedtime smell. Edit: Bought a 125ml bottle. I find it's gonna be a great layering perfume, a bedtime scent and a scent to spray in my bedroom! It smells heavenly.

Beautiful vintage violets, zero lasting power on skin...but as a linen spray or spritzed all over your pillows before bed, you won’t be disappointed. If this gorgeous scent was offered as an extrait with good lasting power, it would be a struggle for me to wear anything else.

All I get from Violette is Violets in cologne. Longevity is very poor, 15 minutes at the most. Lovely layered with Elizabeth Taylor's Violet Eyes, really ramps up the Violet and tones down the sharp notes. I love wearing old style perfumes, it amazes me how many ladies will stop me and ask what I am wearing. Always brings back memories of Grandmothers, Aunts, Sisters..... It is definitely a lovely introduction to conversation. I decant this into a travel atomizer and take it with me so I can spritz whenever I feel like it. Good for subtly clearing the air in a crowded place, if you know what I mean.

It took this a few minutes to develop a violet smell when I tested it in the sunshine in the only warmish part of a January afternoon. It was kind of meh on cloth and didn't smell like much on skin either but then I sniffed again later and it was really nice.

Fresh Parma violets scent. Spot on notes as described above. Lasts approximately 5 seconds and is more a refreshing mist after a shower or something soothing to spray before bed. The splash bottle is very clunky so I grabbed a sprayer from another bottle to allow me to spritz it.

Fragrance Review For 1902 Violette Parfums Berdoues Notes: Bergamot Violet Lilac Raspberry Violet Leaves Almond Tree Jasmine Iris Musk Opoponax Musk Strawberry Strange and beautiful violet perfume. At the first spritz of 1902 Violette, I got a lilac not a violet. The citrus sweetens and freshens up the violet leaves which are clearly there before a single violet takes over the frag. I don't consider this a floral as it has other layers around it that give it oomph and sillage despite the fact that it is linear and smells the same without a development from beginning to end. This doesn't have the head heart base note structure. Instead it releases all the scents at once. It has sweet strawberry and raspberry but not candied just fruity. The almond is also there. Sweet gourmand fruity floral. The other flowers that join the violet are jasmine and iris. The iris here give it a slight powder. The opoponax note surprised me as it does not smell of it at all. This is no incense style opoponax at all. The musk is the strongest of the scents at the dry down. So I would classify this one as a floral fruity musk. It's very sweet and smells great. It has a short life of about 3 hours or less. It's easy to wear and great for spring and summer. I was wearing this one the other night and the lady next to me said to me that I smell of strawberries. So to some noses this is going to be mainly a violet and strawberry. If you like that kind of thing this is for you. It's also definitely more feminine than unisex and this works better on women's skin chemistry. I adore it.

VIOLETTE - 1902, is an eau de cologne, so don't expect much with longevity. That said, this is a potent, mind-altering inhalant. Childhood memories of freshly laundered flannel pajamas and Mr. Bubble bubblebath (boxed powder) circa 1969 come to mind. Also, I get an olfactory reminder of plastic toys that I may have smelled/tasted as a child. I spray this on after a shower sometimes, and also on my pillow. It is not long lasting, but while it is around, it is hypnotic, a sleepy child's bedtime scent, specially formulated for pleasant dreams. Insomniacs may want to try this. I as a rule detest "powdery" fragrances, but I must admit to making an exception for this infantile, comforting concoction.

It's giving Guerlain Insolence on a budget. I've come to love this type of plastic smelling violet scent. It's giving springtime, english garden, violet floral bouqets and doll's hair. I love it! I do detect lots of violet, iris, some raspberries and the almond tree with a little bit of lilac and a touch of white musk. The other notes are super subtle. If you love plasticy doll's head scents then you'll love this. I love putting this on before bed and praying my pillows with it. It's so comforting and dreamy! I keep it on my nightstand next to BBW Lavender Pillow Spray.

Holy purple violets! THIS. IS. EPIC - as in Parma violets on steroid! I LOVE IT. Not sporting great sillage, but who cares when a number is that good? I surely don't! Surprisingly, it is really fresh - I don't know how they achieved this, but this number is not at all overly powdery and suffocating. Fresh violet, and a hint (very little!!!!) powder as if you puffed on yourself some violet talcum. I am bathing in it since days and can't get enough of it. Found it on Fragrance x for as little at £ 18 and will buy more. Worth it for any violet lover, this is fantastic.

The most beautiful cologne I've ever encountered. Don't know exactly why, but longevity on my skin and clothes is superb. Most comforting soft Violet smell.
