Violettes de Toulouse Eau de Parfum

I think William Shakespeare said it best... "A violet in the youth of primy nature, forward, not permanent, sweet,not lasting; the perfume and the suppliance of a minute." I have searched for a violet soliflore that was strong and lasted...but the truth is that violet is sweet and fleeting. Violettes de toulouse is very close to my heart...sweet powdery pure violet. It doesn't get better than that. I want to add a few more words that are in my heart...this violet is like no other. The violets are like some magical enchantedland, a place that exisits only in my dreams. They are violets made of the finest, thinnest paper, like they came right out the pages of a bible. Soft, delicate, and powdered by the cherubs that guard them. Utterly beautiful, this will always have a special place in my heart.

This is one of the perfumes my mom wore when I was growing up, so it holds a very special place in my heart. I recently was able to acquire a vintage version of it through Ebay (the one with the pear atomizer) and I couldn’t be happier. I hadn’t forgotten how beautiful it was but I was still impressed when I got to smell it again. Oh lord, the nostalgia. I still remember spraying this on generously and using the bottle to play princesses with my sister... It really did feel that luxurious to spray on, but to be fair, all puff atomizers do :D The scent is a beautiful violet solinote that lasts for a few hours. It’s discreet, it’s cute, it’s feminine...I hope I get to keep this around forever.

Certainly one of the best perfumes I've ever tried. This is why I bought it twice and I'm looking for a third bottle to buy. All times classic scent, purely and authentically flowerish, elegant, 'playful', femimine but discrete too. This perfume refuses to 'age', would suite everybody, even a teen girl. It is meant for those who love old scents that recall barock ages, also for those who love pure floral scents, spring flowers. It is a distinctive perfume. Only disadvantage: it doesn't last very long, even though a parfum, not an EDT. This hasn't stopped me from continously buying it though. Add I bought and stocked another bottle to a great price.

this is the cutest perfume I own ! it really smells like violettes de Toulouse (the flower and the candy as well). the only problem I have is that it really doesn't last long : 1 hour and there is just a veeeryy light soapy smell left ; i'm not even sure it's the perfume, maybe it's my soap :-D it lasts a bit longer on my scarf. it's a really pretty perfume, I also love the box and the bottle, with the bulb sprayer and the tassel :)

Nice, sweet, feminine and romantic. I love it : only violets, fruity notes and musk. It smells like violet candies. It reminds me Delice des Fleurs - L'Occitane (which has been created later). Correct lasting power.

Simply violet heaven. Does not last long but nothing truly beautiful lasts forever.

It opens with candied violets that aren't too powdery. There is a fruitiness that is sometimes dominant in the opening and sometimes it's a bit more in the background. The heart is a mixed floral bouquet over a clean musk. The violet is the dominant floral in the bouquet with some iris and lily backing it up. There's a tad of sandalwood in there too. The drydown has more sandalwood and musk. It's a clean musk. I like it. It has moderate sillage but it fades quickly. It only lasts about 2 hours on me.

OK Gals.... Who remembers KIDDLES DOLLS????? JUST bought this Lilac from FRANGRANCEX.COM for about $45.00....Bottle is GORGEOUS with the ADORABLE sprayer.... Smells EXACTLY like my KIDDLE lilac perfume doll which I have from early 70's. I also have a Honeysuckle Kiddle doll. Just a FUN reminiscent scent from my childhood. It smells VERY sweet on me. Sprayed a little on my 4 rescue dogs (I KNOW I'm WEIRD!!!), HOWEVER, they were NOT impressed! They like whatever I wear.....

I actually never have smelled a pure violet oil or extract before, but if I have to believe Berdoues, they smell like sweet 'n sour sugary candy jellybeans. There's something slightly woody underneath and definitely a lot of fruity on top! The problem with this smell, though I like it, is that I get the immideate urge to go binge-eating :| what's up with that?! I allready ate 3 cookies, 1 icecream, a tomato, a apple, 4 hands of dry cereals and 3 slices of sausage... Odd.

Lovely violet, and I normally don't like violet that much. Fruity and ozonic, which is kind of a strange combination, but definitely works. I also recognize almond blossom from its heavy use in Reminiscence Dragée. Quite a bit of iris in here as well. Cold, refreshing, powdery, slightly sweet, coquette. I see a woman with a lot of rosy blush.

I’m wearing a vintage bottle. Gorgeous purple color and it came in an adorable tiny hat box style container covered in violets and gold accents. This is powdery with a touch of port wine casks mixed with green leaves.

i couldn't get past the smell of fruity something - a cross between candied peel and boiled sweets - which overpowered the entire thing on my skin and made me feel a little nauseous. this is the first time i have ever had to scrub. if you love fruitiness (not peach, not lychee, not quince, not pineapple, not anything) just a candied fruit cocktail, then you might like this. Yes there is a lovely violet and powdered makeup vibe going on underneath, but it could never reveal itself to me. but i do love the EDT.

Smells exactly like violets for sure. If you love the smell of this flower, you'll love this perfume. Although this is the shortest lasting perfume I have ever worn.

Soft and pretty candied violets with a touch of unrealistic fruity sweetness, bringing to mind the smell of clear hard candy in an unspecified fruity flavour, artificial, but cute. This is accompanied by a distinctive powderiness in the style of Guerlain's Meteorites makeup, but I'm also getting some fairly soapy connotations. I've been wearing Violettes de Toulouse today, while swiping some Aimez Moi on one wrist for comparison. I quite liked Violettes de Toulouse originally, but smelling it side by side with Caron helped me define the aspects I don't enjoy. I think that the soapiness my nose is getting, though not bad in itself, may be causing the issue I find with this fragrance, a certain lack of air and brightness, something oily in the base that weighs down the composition and makes it read as slightly dull and opaque to my nose. I think it's the particular variety of musk used in it that causes this effect. Maybe iris also? Smelling the much fresher and vibrant Aimez Moi next to it really brings this out. I may not be enamoured of the mint and anise in the opening, but I like the clarity of Aimez Moi way better. In the drydown it feels smooth and satisfying without packing on unnecessary weight, whereas Violettes de Toulouse gradually loose their attractive fluffiness, their pastel hues turn darker from oily stains, and I'm somehow reminded of the smell of lightly stale skin, like when you know it's time for your next shower. Perhaps the smell of your makeup powder after you've had it on all day, so it had time to absorb all of the oil from your face. Granted, it's been hot here, so it may be just my skin. I'm curious about other violets now. I think I like the genre, despite, or because of, the cuteness:)

This fragrance is a solifloral powdery violet fragrance. It is truly a little sister of Guerlain's Meteorites - the top notes are almost identical, then as the time goes by the difference shows in bases - Violettes de Toulouse have a very soft, light, a bit soapy base. Interesting that the staying power is better when sprayed on clothes than on my skin. Still I love this frangrance and the lovely violet bottle:)

Well, nothing can beat Goutal's violet. At least for me. This is some boudoir with heavy purple velvet curtains. To me it smells of doll heads and old lipsticks, which really isn't a bad thing, but if you are searching for 'Meteorites' smell, or Choward's violet mints aroma, or for a light and dewy, innocent violet - this is definitely a miss. But if you like things vintage-y, sweet and powdery - go for it.

This EDP starts out very fruity, sweet-sour, candy-like. After 30 minutes, it settles to a very light powder, and the fruits are still there, just softer. On me, it takes about an hour for this EDP to become a skin scent. It lasts for about 3 hours, then fades away entirely. Nice one if you like fruity violet fragrances.

@kaxmir spraying perfume to your dogs? "they were NOT impressed..." you say... I wonder why?! You're not weird but ignorant. Please do your research about how sensitives animals and their noses are. People who don't know how to care about dogs and cats should NOT be allowed to have any.

I love this. And, total bonus, great breath freshener! No joke. In case of emergency just spritz a little on the tongue and run it over your teeth. Burns like hell but smells great and lasts a long time! Smooching partners are very complimentary.

This perfum smells like a sweet candy!!!
