Darcy

Arresting, sweet, patchouli jasmine fragrance with some citrus notes. I do get hints of lemon and lime, especially in the topnotes; but the body of Darcy is primarily jasmine, musk, and a sleek, refined aromatic patchouli. I see where the Coco Mlle comparison is coming from; but Darcy feels more opulent, much less laundry-like than CM. It is a fragrance that will surprise you, even stun you, upon first impression. It is distinct from the latter, perhaps more formal and serious in the velvety opulence it exudes. Perhaps if you once enjoyed Coco Mlle or similar profiles, but have tired from their commonality or synthetic-ness, I suggest the upgrade to Darcy. She'll make you fall in love with a modern take on a classic floral chypre all over again. But be aware the full drydown of Darcy is completely different from CM; being a gorgeous & highly sophisticated musky, slightly herbal and aromatic jasmine woods. It's a lovely composition 😌. Easily unisex.

This really doesn't smell "just like Coco Mademoiselle" to me. I own the whole Coco line so it's easy for me to compare them. I will concede that there are some notes in common, but Darcy is very special! It has a plush, chewy texture along with being much warmer and much less citrusy/ zingy, with much less sharp patchouli. I can't figure it out but it just has something about it that's so sensual and gorgeous, maybe a musky accord that comes out in the dry down. Fragrantica used to use a praline-like image for the "sweet notes" and I felt that suited the fragrance better. Now it's some sugary/fruity candy, but that's not what you get here. It's more smooth and inviting than that. Anyway, I love this fragrance! Thank you for reading my review ❤

Patchouli done right! This fragrance is right up my alley, as I love a dense, rich-but-not-over-the-top patchouli with sweet accords. The patchouli is present from opening to dry-down. Not a 'dirty' patchouli, but voluptuous... sensual... warm... In the opening it deliciously melts together with the citrus notes. Not before long, another sweet note joins in lending a gourmand touch to the blend. My nose tells me it's pralines and it brings to mind these in-chocolate-covered-orange-segments, delicious! When the citrus notes tone down, the rose reveals it's, sensual, velvety soft petals, which play around with sweet, delicate praline notes and patchouli. Moderate to long lasting with moderate to soft sillage. ♥♥♥♥♥

I do not like Coco but l love PDM D'arcy. I know to many frags this won't make sense but to me she is everything Coco hoped to be but for me she just couldn't quite make it. I tried ALL the Coco flankers but for me D'arcy was a love at first sniff. It's creamier and the screechiness my nose detects in Coco isn't in D'arcy for me. I love a clean sexy patchouli not that dirty, old hippy patchouli. This is a perfect scent to me. I think date night in the fall/winter or a cool spring but l kind of the a dressy daytime day drinking event during those seasons. I don't know if it's truly office safe but l love it. If you are like me in a small but very loud minority that abhors Coco, try D'arcy.

I'd bet on that "horsy", on that thoroughbred "horsy" :) Darcy - amazing perfume : thick, lush, bright, the sweetness here is not usual & not familiar. I would say that it sweetness dustely- dry as a hay in the stable. In the aroma i guess the barberry lollipops, dried citrus peels, valuable species of wood and roses, covered with jasmine powder and they melt on the skin so magically, putting me on an aura of hot chypre notes. At the finish it turns into grassy-woody sounding. Darcy Parfums de Marly is loud & intriguing scent. Coco Mademoiselle of course will not replace, but in this fragrance reads the same dignity.

I love Darcy. So underrated i think. Does it have a familiar Dna? Yes, does it smell like a designer perfume? NO. PArfums de Marly quality is front and center, so natural smelling. This is a rich, earthy, chocolatey vibe with a hint of fresh on top. Very thick, plush, dense, cozy yet opulent. A total fall perfume if you ask me. I think of brown, amber and gold tones. Velvet comes to mind. This one can be elegant, casual as well but in a chic way. This smells expensive and feminine. The patchuli is done well, it doesn’t smell dirty, but earthy and warm. A hidden fall winter gem.

I’m surprised at the negative reviews. This smells lovely to my nose. Both my mom and I bought bottles after trying this as the store. It smells sweet, floral and expensive. My mom and I are 30 years apart but this works great for both of us. I love Coco Mademoiselle but to my nose these don’t smell the same. This is Darcy is much more grown up. This is a perfect signature scent and could easily work for many occasions. Is this groundbreaking? No. But sometimes I just want to smell beautiful and that’s definitely this fragrance.

This is subtle ,pretty and totally intoxicating. It's one of those scents that you can't stop thinking about after your first test. This is a confident woman who doesn't need to shout or scream about anything. Wearing this,you will be noticed,but this is understated elegance. I need Darcy in my life. I cannot live without out it. I'm saving now! A day later and I still love my tester. The dry down is a less sweet slightly muskier than Coco Mademoiselle, with far more intrigue and sophistication. Beautiful.

This reminded me of Coco Mademoiselle as well. I really enjoy wearing my travel-sized bottle which came with the discovery set but would not buy a full bottle as I would go for Coco Mademoiselle (intense) instead, as it is way cheaper. There might be some nuances for sure and it might last longer (?) But that doesn't justify the much higher price point IMHO. If I would want to splurge that amount of money I would go for Coromandel which is also beautiful plus has niche quality.

I received a vial of this today and I have to say I knew nothing of this house, But now I do!! Oh boy! The citrus mingled with Patchouli is so dang good. But the best part is the sweetness it's like a very nice candied rose... And the sandalwood is present but not too much. It kind of reminds me of Montale roses elixir but not as sticky in the sweetness. Beautiful but FB worthy? No, but absolutely decant worthy...

Tom Ford's Black Orchard. That's what this reminds me of. And just like Black Orchard this has tenacious staying power and sillage. I'm a middle aged woman and this is a "younger" fragrance to my nose. A club fragrance, specifically. Its edgy, complex and deep. I like it but the long drydown is not a enjoyable as it could be

This perfume feels fresh and bright from the first spray — the citrus notes wake me up and instantly put me in a good mood. The floral heart is soft and romantic, while the dry-down is creamy and comforting, leaving a smooth, warm trail on my skin.

I love this! I reminds me of Coco Mad, but not as sharp. I don't understand how anyone could strongly dislike it.

It is very lively in top and mid notes. Finish is lightweight and musky - wisper soft. Reminds me of parfum concentration of Coco Mademoiselle. It's sparkly, soft, feminine and polished, I am tempted to buy it - a big bottle of a perfect impression of the Coco Mademoiselle Parfum, mmm, it lifts better from my skin, too. The new Chanel products like Coco M Intense do not smell alive but castrated in sterile white lab. Darcy does not. In a way I am happy the most loved and feminine scents are immortalized and perfected by Parfums de Marly. Surely a woman or a man in love wanted to save them and polish them to maximum beauty and pleasure. @mejevika - Coco Mademoiselle is close to 200 Euro my place and one of the few I immediately bought upon its release. I also regularly buy other scented products from its range whenever I am out of any. Which is why I feel confused when reading your comment. No one forces you to buy Darcy. Why do you think it is o.k to devaluate 2 great scents after sniffing them once and never using?

I really enjoy this scent. The patchouli is very very pretty in combination with the jasmine and rose. It’s a beautifully warm and feminine scent. Pretty unique to my nose. I can kind of see the comparison to Miss Dior. They have vaguely similar DNA, but Miss Dior is much more generic & has more crowd appeal imo. Miss Dior smells like every single airport Duty Free section; Darcy smells like Miss Dior’s extremely wealthy and sultry older cousin. I can also see why some people might say it’s unisex, but I couldn’t see a man pulling this off. It’s a little too sweet for me to classify it as unisex. I think the citrus + woods combo is what makes some people feel like it’s more masculine. This has meh sillage. I wish it were stronger so I could justify the price. I love the scent (probably my 2nd fave from PDM) but it’s not strong enough to warrant $320 price tag. I would spend $150 on this max. Maybe one day I’ll buy it... 7/10

So syrupy it is in summer. A classic fruitchouli very similar to Coco Mademoiselle, Ysl Mon Paris or Miss Dior Cherie and Pour Elle Mauboussin. I feel medicinal tones today. And it feels deep. Honeyed flowers, citruses, patchouli and woods. Its winter and autumn wear was much lighter. Like a lighthearted musky Coco M. But in 21° it is heavy. Like a liquer. Beautiful like the other fruitchoulis, but so Coco M... It feels like a dupe. But now that I wear it in summer it feels heavier than the Chanel. When I opened it afresh in winter it was exactly like Coco M. parfum, lighthearted and musky, now it matured into a heavier aroma. It lost its lightess. And it is a skin scent after 5 hours. Coco M. has a stellar performance in comparison and is much more complex.

Respectfully I have to disagree with some prior reviews here. This can absolutely be a mans scent. It's not that far off from Le Male. Opens with a blast of citrus and sugar and woods. Drys down fast though and while it remains sweet and creamy, it looses some charm. Not as long lasting as I had hoped (not that most PDM are). Shorter then average longevity for a PDM on my skin and virtually no sillage make this a "no" for me. Scent 7/10 unique and very pleasant but not the best. Sillage 2/10 basically none. Projection 5/10 it had a small projection eary on but quickly diminished. Longevity 4/10 only got 3 hours of real skin scent after the near-immediate drydown.

Notes from the PDM discovery set booklet: Top Notes: bergamot, orange Heart Notes: rose, jasmine Base Notes: patchouli, musk Opening: citrus and orange blossom. Jasmine comes in surprisingly strong after just a minute or two. Drydown: It definitely has that Chanel vibe to it in the drydown. I'm not sure if it's necessarily Coco Madmoiselle, but it's got that refines white floral Chanel class. You can smell the rose but it's not super strong. I don't really detect woods, so I'm guess its like soft white woods or something. Overall: Okay. You can get the same thing for cheaper. It feels like it could be many other designer perfumes.

Darcy is a lively burst of citrus, bright but not sparkling, like sweetened, sliced bergamot and oranges at golden hour. Sweetness has always been a trademark of PdM's—yet what sets this fragrance apart is how the patchouli anchors this sugared symphony. It’s not sharp but earthy, polished and tempered, seamlessly embracing yet good-naturedly challenging the sweet vanilla undertones. Together, they weave a rich, textured warmth. The scent leans cozily into its rosy heart but never topples into overly sweet or cloying territory. Citrusy yet grounded, floral yet bold, gourmand-ish but never sickly realistic.

What can I say.. I had a little extra money yesterday and I ordered a bottle! From Ebay, for $175. So I didn't pay full retail thank goodness. It does smell very similar to Coco Mademoiselle so I am in fact sampling Darcy on my left hand and Coco Mademoiselle on the left. I must say the Darcy has a nice soft creaminess in the drydown that the Coco M doesn't. I dig it! I am excited for my bottle to get here. Since Coco mademoiselle in itself is a flanker of the OG Coco, which has been one of my signatures, and I have basically always been offended by CM, I prefer Darcy.

Like other reviewers have noted, very similar to Coco Mademoiselle which is more effervescent and stylish whereas Darcy is a little flatter and easier. Lovely flacon but like all issues from PDM, way overpriced for what it is. It’s nice but not worth the price tag - just get Coco Mademoiselle you get a better constructed fragrance for a lower price. I got given mine so hey, I’ll use it but would I spend this kind of money to re-purchase? Nope.

As an 18-year-old, the smell is definitely mature, 50+ I'd say is ideal in fact but if you're an older women looking for a splurge, this is definitely a nice scent. Not sure how it holds up on skin though so I'd recommend scrolling through the other reviews. I will also say although Fragrantica's reviews aren't the most reliable, this is definitely a sweet & fruity smell while obviously still smelling mature

Niche perfumers pull off the best versions of any genre because they dont have to comply with club standards. Thats what youre paying for. But yes exactly what this smells like is miss dior 2013 or coco mademoiselle with sweet notes instead of vanilla. This is probably what the current formulations of miss dior would have smelled like had parfums de marly not beat them to the punch

Dark, heavy, earthy patchouli rose that's just iconic. Definitely have smelt something similar before, maybe TF Noir de Noir? The dry-down resembles Coco Mademoiselle a bit, but not a dupe because it's doesn't have the Chanel powdery/soapy undertone. I don't get any of the "sweet notes". This is not your typical pretty girl scent, this is very unisex and niche-smelling.

To me, this smells just like Coco Mademoiselle. I don't have Coco Mlle, and I haven't smelled in a month or so, so I can't say for sure if they're exactly the same. But if someone walked by wearing this, I would immediately think they were wearing Coco Mlle. No question. I wouldn't recommend this, simply because Coco Mademoiselle is much cheaper.

A lot of people compare it to Chanel Mademoiselle but I only smell the patchouli as a similarity. This is more citrus than CM. It's a pretty scent, nothing special, overpriced, and honestly just pretty is all I can say. I let it macerate for a few days and it didn't get better unlike other frags I did this to. Save your money 🖤✨️

Fruity, citrusy, slightly powdery floral. Warm w/ a frisson of sensuality. There’s a bit of chocolate swirling around in here. If Mugler Angel, JM Nectarine Blossom & Honey and Coco M entwined in soft perfume po*n, this would be the scent wafting from their bacchanalia.

I really love this scent. It's like Coco Mademoiselle, but better in every way possible. Unfortunately, this fragrance isn't really my vibe for me to be spending this much money on it, but I might come back to it in a few years.

It is pleasant but not highly unique (as others said, it's similar to Coco Mademoiselle or Miss Dior) It is clean, feminine while also in my opinion being office-safe. Very professional and pretty, sweet but not cloying.

If Coco Mademoiselle Intense had a baby with Miss Dior it would be Darcy. So pretty, and girly-feminine and lightweight. Performance is weak in humid, hot weather. Does not project, I barely feel this little baby.

Testing my sample; thick citrussy pulp, dries down into a musky patchouli rose that's very sweet and almost gummy. Very much in the vein of Coco Mademoiselle. Great for cool/cold seasons. Very strong on my skin.

Very familiar scent, soft sort of citrus but mostly floral and powdery, I would turn my head around if I smelled this on the subway; either the wearer is a captivating young woman or a 75 year old grandmother

When i first smelled this i dont know y it reminded me of royal mirage deodorant becoz my uncle wears it soo much lolz

This smells very similar to Chanel Coco Mademoiselle... Only less citrusy and it is sweeter.

I sprayed it around me and on my wrist and I keep thinking... Where have I smelled this before? And when I saw the notes, I got an Ahaa moment... this is a generic sweet patchouli scent. My elderly neighbour has a perfume bottle for 3.50€ from Lidl (Chanel wannabe, i think it's called Sunday or Sunny?) and it smells better than this! Darcy is very flat, uninteresting, a bit of a headache inducing (not heavy, just a bit too sweet on me). Luckily, it didn't last long. I sprayed Cassili around and felt immediately better. Overall impression with PdM is that I can do better for a fragment of this price. Don't get me wrong, they are nice, but they are not those I have to hold myself with all my strength from buying right away. Also, I ordered one small (75ml) bottle and the package I received was so unnecessarily big I couldn't but wonder, why would they do such a thing. I mean, our local bakery got their package boxes custom made to perfectly fit their cakes and 250€ parfumery can't find a suitable box for a small order? They could fit 10 boxed fragrances in that package and still needed the polystyrene filling! (I know. Totally unrelated, but probably another reason to buy something else next time).

This perfume was rather lackluster for me and nothing to write home about. I was surprised that it was a fragrance for women, sincw it smelt somewhat (but not strongly) masculine to me. The patchouli and woody notes in the base were overpowering for me and seemed to stomp on most of the other notes in this perfume's composition. I also found the citrusy notes in the opening notes sort of reminiscent of dishwashing liquid and it wasn't my favorite. The rose and the jasmine combined with the sweet notes was nice though and I really wish there was more of a sweet/floral element to Darcy. Maybe some ylang ylang or narcissus would be a nice addition to this? Maybe some lemon or orange blossom too. Darcy had a strong projection that I found slightly overpowering and a wear time of 6 hours on my skin. I'd say it is more of a fall/winter fragrance, but it could work for spring too. I only think it would be appropritate to wear during the evening though. Altogether, I'd give Darcy by Parfums de Marly a very average score of 5/10. Not offensive smelling by any means, but nothing that blows my socks off either really.

I really liked this in the store, sampling from the tester bottle - it was a feminine, rounded, fruity patchouli. I kept thinking about it and nearly blind bought it without sampling on my skin. Looking back, I'm glad I didn't. I have Coco Mademoiselle EDP and the Intense version as well. I don't quite get the Coco Mademoiselle resemblance the most here (Coco is more bright/tart citrus + patchouli; this one is candied-fruit patchouli) - the one that jumps out to me is Le Parfum Royal by Elie Saab. It's a very sticky-sweet, fruity patchouli. I like patchouli, and this is definitely pleasant. However, overall, on my skin this just turns WAY too sweet. And practicality-wise, it's just way too sweet for me (I stay in a humid, tropical country), and I'd never have a chance to wear this without giving myself a headache. Also, interestingly, while this is SO strong and sweet when first sprayed, it doesn't last very long on the skin. Considering the notes, it has average to poor longevity (maybe four hours or so).

So to give you a landscape of my PdM (feminine scents) tastes, the ever-popular Delina is okay to me, but overrated. Athalia is my absolute favorite (thus far), and Meliora is far and away my least fave PdM scent. Darcy's got a sharpness and a sweetness, like a funky weird hipster version of Sangria. It smells a little vintage-90s to me. I feel like one of my middle school teachers wore something similar back when. That said, it comes off more mature to me, middle-aged woman or older. Or an artsy edgy younger woman, I can see that too. I would say this is more nighttime if you're younger, and daytime if you're older. Just how I picture it when I smell. I feel like this perfume wears glasses like Janine from Ghostbusters.

Patchouli-heavy citrus scent with a vintage, sophisticated allure. Drydown is sweet and musky. Dramatic, elegant, antique. Well blended, well done, but not for me. It's in the family of Chanel's Coco Mademoiselle, but Coco Mademoiselle EDT is more modern and easy-going. Darcy is a bit too old-fashioned to my nose. Not unisex, distinctly feminine and ladylike. Got as a sample, but the little vial will last forever because I don't see myself wearing it often. Performance is good, on me this is quite strong and can be headache-inducing (but again, I like patchouli only in moderation).

Got a decant of this to try. At first snif, it smells just like a Chanel. If you didn't tell me, I would not have guessed that the scent was from a niche perfume. I can't stand any of the Delinas because they are cloyingly sweet to me but this does not smell sweet to me at all. It is lightly floral, almost powdery with light citrus. To me, this is a scent that we can easily get in a designer fragrance. Not worth the niche price tag whether you get it retail or from a discounter. Pass.

Very citrus-y, it's quite pleasant and refreshing on my skin. I see it mostly as a morning fragrance and it could be unisex because the opening has some elements. I'm wearing Oriana on the other hand and I think it has a better character. Darcy reminds me of Le jour se leve by Louis Vuitton or a similar vibe.

If you own Chanel Coco Mademoiselle, you likely don't need Darcy. You then already own a much more superior experience to begin with :-) - including longevity, projection and craftsmanship. Unless you are a big fan of the PDM house in general, then of course.... If you are still unsure - go with Chanel.

I can see the resemblance to Chanel as this is very patchouli heavy, but this is mature, almost grandma like to be honest. It is missing that classic sweetness Chanel has. Not for me. Ive found this fragrance house very disappointing. Ive only found one perfume I like from them Orianna.

I get a harsher Coco Mademoiselle mixed with something akin to cigarettes from this - it's sharp in a very odd way. Something chocolatey comes through the longer I wear it, which is welcomed, but I can't bring myself to stick around for it after the weird first hour or two.

Pleasant citrusy patchouli, reminds me of Empressa from Penhaligon's. Though the latter is superior thanks to its longevity - Darcy has no real lasting power on my skin, I can barely smell it even up close after 4 hours or so. Not worth the price for me.

Sorry, but this is a real waste of money. It's a heavy, weird smell that gives you a headache, it's not even comparable to Coco Mademoiselle, which I'm not exactly crazy about either, but that one has a fresh side. Darcy just stinks!

Smells very much like Coco Mademoiselle. Why would anyone pay €200 for it, I don't know.
