Wit

The laurel and angelica on the initial notes is very strong and pungent. A little bit too much for my liking, but I found this scent does better in brisk cool air rather than summer warmth. Then its cool, green notes really blossom. Its drydown, though, with the jasmine and mimosa is really pretty. Keep going back and forth as to whether I should get a decant or full bottle. Very lovely, and it's tart and refreshing and razor-sharp. UPDATE: I bought a bottle, am wearing full application instead of a sample, and I LOVE it. It doesn't seem too pungent to me at all any more. Not sure if my tastes changed or the sample was a different batch. So often just trying a perfume only once can lead to false impressions.

DelRae Wit is one of the three most realistic florals I have ever smelled! It is like actually putting my nose up to a bouquet of freshly cut from the garden flowers. I've only had this same experience with Diorissimo and maybe Chamade. It is gorgeous yellow flowers, a bit powdery, absolutely quality materials (like all DelRaes). This is at the top of my to buy list for Spring! I can't wait to spray this lovely on my skin and feel as if I am Persephone, dancing through a meadow.

Powdery but realistic mimosa narcissus. Yellow, bitter, floral-powdery with some crushed green leaf and a little oily bitter orange rind in the background. It reminds me of a soft focus yellow bokeh effect picture at this point. A mix of powdery yellow-white florals, narcissus with its slight animalic tinge, jasmine adding a little indole, mimosa adding sweet powdery floral notes with hints of pear, bitter almonds, plum skins. Wit is a spring floral and has hints of cream, bitterness, and fruit. It has a natural scent that reminds you of the way that an actual bouquet of cut flowers can smell (where it’s not exactly the idealized flower smell you were expecting before sniffing, but not unpleasant). It’s a sister scent to Penhaligon’s Ostara, though I like that one slightly better on my skin as it’s a little sweeter. With the name, Wit, and the scent of yellow flowers, it reminds me of a cottagecore girl wearing a buttercup colored linen dress whilst reading a book in a meadow of flowers. This type of scent is little outside of my wheelhouse (I dislike powder and bitter florals) but this one is well done and though I might not reach for it often, I’ll keep the sample as a reference in my collection. I need to remember that I only like it when applied lightly though! Otherwise the bitter floralcy tips over my tolerance threshold.

You're a florist with access to some of the most beautiful flowers in the world, and every day you go home munching on ripe oranges while clutching the same bouquet of blossoms: jasmine, mimosa, and narcissus. You get home each night and scatter them in a hot bath, where you spend an hour steeping and unwinding. While you're there, you indulge in a cup of vanilla ice cream, turned on by the contrast - the frosty cold against the heat of the bath, the playful sweetness against the potent and natural flowers. This is really delightful. I haven't knowingly encountered Daphne laurel, but Wit reminds me very much of what we in Georgia call winter honeysuckle. The flower is sweet with a little tartness, and gentle enough that it's never overwhelming, and it seems like spring in the middle of winter. Wit has that delicately citrus-sweet floral quality, as well as the heart-lifting optimism that comes with it. It makes me smile whenever I sniff it. I just wish it were more budget friendly.

Something about the combination of narcissus (not a fave note for me), mimosa, ylang-ylang, and jasmine just is too saccharine in a particular direction. The drydown is an improvement, but there is still something there which I cannot love.

Wit is an upbeat complex floral ideal for mild weather. Tropical, light, creamy, a bit green and earthy. The ylang ylang stands out for me at the beginning, but the mimosa takes over later on.

I personally find this absolutely vile, but it's definitely an impressive springy floral. Smells much like a garden - exactly like the blooms of the linden trees on my block in summer. i would find this cloying in hot weather as others have said, but if bright citrusy florals are your thing, i imagine this would be perfect for early spring.

I love most of DelRae's fragrances, but this one did nothing for me. It is a very tart, sharp green opening (the laurel, I imagine) and as this fades, I am left with a bitter jasmine (not my favorite note in any event). Worth a try, but not for me!
