Melodie de L'Amour

Well, well, well. It's almost a week I'm wearing Melodie De L'Amour full time and in the end I decided talk about it in my own way, a very personal and fanciful way. I could write about notes and sillage and lonegvity, I did it before with other perfumes, but in this case I think it would be utterly reductive and it wouldn't be fair for art to be rendered with just words. I think for me, my nose and senses, it is the most difficult, in Dusita perfumes, to review. This is for two reasons. One: I think it is the most personal perfume that Umavijani created, and I think it reflects an important side of her artistic and familiar life. I believe this perfume represents, more than any other, the meaning of Dusita and the the values of Montri poetic. Two: I'm not a big fan of tuberose in white/pure flowers chords. I actually prefer dirty/obscure and carnal/animalic tuberose. But this perfume is truly different from any other one I tasted before and amazingly different from whatever comes to my mind when I think about tuberose and white flowers. This fragrance really made and makes me dream. It instilled in me pure poetry, pure love, authentic passion with a glimpse of genuine burning desire. It smells like a wild, yet "très chic", woman, walking under a drizzly but enchanted sky, inspired by a beautiful sunday evening in the big city. A woman in love and happy to live and be part of the beauty, every day, life donates us. As soon as tuberose and gardenia show up, together with jasmine, and hit my nostrils I feel dazzled. It is not a sweet or chemical smell I feel here. It is more a creamy, white and warm natural sensation, yet dry and not mushy, nor musty, as other perfumes which used these notes before. And so I was transported too. In the big city. This image came to my mind, the very first time I wore Melodie. I felt like I was in NYC. It is one of those spring evening on which you don't know if it's going to rain or not. The sun is setting and is warm, but pale, in the sky, surrounded by wispy grayish-rose clouds, and the air is dry but filled with ozone. And here it is. Imagine you passing by a magnificent white garden full of gardenia, lilies, tuberose blossoms, all fanced-in indian jasmin. And it is the exact moment when rain starts falling. That exact moment the streets and ground begin rehydrating and quenching their thirst. And a strange, familiar and enchanting smell arises. And you, you are submerged by contrasting yet complementary city/nature odors which have in common more than you could ever imagine. You open your Brigg's umbrella and slowly, dazed and astonished, walk away, continuing your stroll to the end of the day. Then rain, eventually, stops falling. In the night you can perceive musky vegetal notes, emerging together with woody ones, in the air. Time passes and you are now in the comfort of your bed and, here, wild-bitter/sweet honey appears, like wishing you a good night... sleep tight. Then... then... then... This perfume is really something. One of those I really adore, and, day by day, I love even more. I can't remember the last time I wished I had a full bottle of a fragrance, but it's really a long time ago. This, imho, if you love tuberose and white flowers, without any "gourmandise" in the middle, really deserves to be in your collection. I found Melodie a marvellous creation and I hope my review, in a way or another, could help to understand better this scent. Finally I want to send my best wishes to Pissara, aka Ploi, Umavijani, for her beautiful works, hoping she could continue astonishing us with her awesome art. Thanks for the samples and thanks for being so nice and kind. You are truly a magnificent soul and this is reflected in your creation process. A sheer revelation. And a breathtaking shock to the system for a tuberose-phobe like me. The fleshy, fruity, borderline-gasoline, overripe-pawpaw note I usually abhor, which nearly turns my stomach ... and which this scent made me truly love, for the first time, in anything ever. So ENTIRELY against the odds: I come not to bury Melodie d'Amour, but to praise it. It is a great big billowy unashamedly tuberose-centric femme floral - very much NOT my happy-place genre . Even worse, it's also laden with at least two other girly characters (peach and lily-of-the-valley) which usually make me shudder. I adore it. Inexplicable. HOW DID THIS HAPPEN? It has simply bamboozled, dazed and confused me with its loveliness. Perhaps the gorgeously smooth gardenia helps mellow it all out? Maybe the subtlety of the rest and the wisely light hand with the honey? Is it the broom that gives it just enough herbal/aromatic/green edge to cut through the lush jungly lady-fug? Is it just because Pissara Umavijani's a mage who walks among us with an uncanny gift for making polished, ladylike, sophisticated (and yes, very expensive) smells with impeccable diplomatic skills? Maybe all of that but probably much more too. My irrational tuberose hatred is serious. I don't even like the classics (Carnal Flower); for a while I thought I might be able to tolerate it in Diptyque Do Son but even that seems too brash for me now. No disrespect to those who love it, but 99% of the time my reaction is BLECH. Tuberose ruins many a scent I think I might like - it's so overbearing, so squeaky, often so bubble-gummy and fake-fruity. So how can tuberose be the central spine and raison d'etre of this and still make me love it? This one is - as you'd expect from Dusita - smoother, classier and more low-key than any other treatment I've yet tried ... though it's still perceptibly tropicalesque, and still radiating pretty loud all around. No quiet shrinking flower at all. It really, really, really shouldn't work on me - but oh, how stunningly it does. Just thrums through my nose and banjaxes my brain to pump up a magic bubble of thick floral happiness. HOW??? I am undone. Melodie d'Amour has seduced me and I've fallen for its charms. For tuberose lovers: obligatory. For the tuberose-neutral: a must try. Even for the tuberose haters: ALSO a must try, because if it can convert me, it might have the power to break anyone's phobia. This is so rare and so precious: a perfume which really did Change My Mind. Special, special skills at work.

Melodie de L'Amour is, quite simply, my favorite tuberose, and tuberose is my favorite flower in perfume. You can’t talk about tuberose without talking about Fracas, Germaine Cellier’s spirited high-femme 1948 creation. Fracas is the Reference Tuberose, and Pissara Umavijani is deeply inspired by Cellier. But Fracas is actually a very odd scent. It’s a brilliant Barbie-pink, sitting on a layer of buttery yellow, and finally resting on a gravy-brown base. The vivacious charm at length gives way to tedious drama, unless you really like richness. Melodie de L'Amour is, like Fracas, a Big Damn Tuberose, but totally different in spirit. Its tuberose is white, not pink – a gauzy, swoony, romantic, nectar-dripping aura, slightly honeyed but not the least bit cloying. Dusita has been reformulating its perfumes – I remember Melodie de L'Amour as much richer a few years ago – but I still find it beautiful. There may have been a real sandalwood base in the past; now the only hint of depth is a slightly musky haziness that might be the broom. This would make a good bridal fragrance. Gloriously romantic, and free of anything edgy or unlikable.

I see this perfume un the same line than carnal flower by Frederic Malle or Jasmín Rouge by Tom Ford, although less intense and more soapy. Where Malle puts lot if coconut and Ford puts Woods dusita gives a Big load of musk and for me this perfume seens like a Jasmín soap. The performance is good, over all the longevity because the sillage is subtle, but i find It too light being an extrait the parfumw. The smell is very natural and the White flowers are clean as un the other two perfumes i have mentionated before. As most flowery scents i think It is totally unisex and suitable for any swason of the year. Maybe better for daytime wearing It with elegant or casual clothes (not very sporty). I would not buy It because i am a Big fan of CF and i think i dont have soace for bith perfumes in my collection, but for those Who find CF too sweet and intense this could be a good alternative. Quite simply, my favorite white floral of all time, and I own many. Beyond that I don't have the words to describe how something so basic interested of notes and accords can be transformed into a fragrance of such staggering beauty when crafted by a truly gifted perfumer, using the finest of raw materials. There is nothing that smells artificial here, nothing cloying or chemicalish. Nothing I can detect that might be headache inducing, though that is an individual thing. It's white floral, gardenia/tuberose perfection. Since I am experiencing this for the first time as part of a Dusita discovery set, I do need to give it a proper wearing to determine performance, though I'm not certain they will make much of a difference to me. I will happily respray. This will be a full bottle purchase at some point, though being an extrait, the two decants I have should last a while. It will certainly shine brightest in the springtime, but I could easily wear it all year round.

gorgeous white floral, utterly natural scent, which seems to be the case for Dusita, at least the extraits that I've tested opens with an intoxicating blast of white flowers, with a paint-like initial note. it is gradually and subtly sweetened by the honey and the peach provides a slight fruity touch. the cedarwood is gentle but adds some light woodiness. it's moderately indolic but not animalic to me. you can smell all of the 3 main flowers here but the overall result reminds me more of gardenia. i'd rank it this way: gardenia > tuberose > jasmine. beautiful, beautiful fragrance. it smells incredibly natural. the trade off however is that it doesn't last very long on me. moderate projection and sillage in the first hour then it becomes a skin scent for some 6h until it is barely noticeable in my skin.

I used to dislike big white floral perfumes, especially those with tuberose and gardenia, before I got introduced to Melodie de l'amour: the luminous combo of jasmine, tuberose and some secret ingredient smells like bottled summer, or sheer luxury if you're into that sort of thing :) Parfums Dusita have been my go-to perfume choice since the beginning of the pandemic, and I've worn MdlA so often that I actually had to order a new bottle. Pissara's creations might just be the new legends of perfumery: each one is unique and absolutely impeccable. PS I've found that our perception of sillage & longevity changes with our mileage, so for me said characteristics often become a source of disappointment: too much, too long. MdlA is perfect: it stays just as long as I need it to which is at least a few hours.

This is one for white flower lovers. It's a beauty. Nothing heavy and screechy. Gardenia, tuberose and jasmine. A trio of floral divas. You do get a bit of that familiar banana skin thing going on at the start but it fades a bit. The lily of the valley adds a brightness and a wee bit of sweetness from the honey. The Floral divas ease up a bit and then the coconut broom is more evident. I also detect a soft peachiness. The divas start to fade quite a bit within the first hour. It closes as a peach scent with the divas now in the chorus. The longevity doesn't even stretch to moderate. The sillage is not good in this cool room. It might need some heat to come alive. A pretty scent but I wouldn't pay much for it. It smells of quality but nothing amazing that deserves a huge price tag.

A wonderful indolic, creamy (almost rubbery) white flower scent with a slightly tropical undertone, but without any sweetness. This is bold and almost tangible scent. I'm so curious to try this when it's warmer. I also get a subtle gasoline note halfway through, which I find intriguing. It reminds me a bit of Lust Lush at that point, though Melodie de L'Amour encapsulates a bigger bouquet of flowers. In the final dry down, it turns softer and powdery, with an almost cool touch to it. In the cold weather we're having right now this serves as a beautiful but fleeting reminder of hot summer days; fleeting because this disappeared within four hours on my skin. That part's rather a letdown, considering the (exorbitant) price, but a joyful experience while it lasts.

Big white floral, which starts out oozing with gardenia that is slightly over its peak, very heady. Gardenia fairly quickly is dominated by tuberose, and from there it's tuberose all the way. I don't get any peach. This is not a fruity perfume at all. This is a perfume for a lady who can handle a grand dame fragrance like this. This will make most tuberose aficionados swoon. Melodie isn't especially tropical to me. I find it on the other side of the spectrum from Moon Bloom, which places me on some fantastic island jungle. In contrast, Melodie makes me think of perfumes like Giorgio Beverly Hills, and it places me on Rodeo Drive or maybe some ritzy Dallas enclave...and on ladies who wear big diamonds. Smells like gold.

Buttery, rich, and realistic white florals that bring to mind a matriarch's apartment on Park Avenue or the chic single grandmother played by Diane Keaton in a Nancy Meyers movie's house. When I first put it on I didn't expect to be so captivated and kept sniffing my wrists for its soothing and maternal pleasure. I don't necessarily identify with it and don't think it's a scent I would wear out at this point in my life, but there's something deeply comforting about its maturity, in the best sense of the word. This perfume is a genius at raising daughters and cares for her knitwear properly. If Dusita made this scent into a candle I'd be first in line.

Hands down, my favorite from the two discovery sets I own, and my favorite white floral fragrance. As beautiful as Dusita's perfumes are, they all suffer from abysmal longevity. This is the exception. I know that it's the underlying notes that make it stand out from the crowd, making it distinct from other tuberose/gardenias, but I prefer to think that they are just magical blossoms that only Dusita can access so that Pissara can do her witchcraft on them. I will purchase a full bottle soon, and there's no time like the present... In case I wasn't clear, this is a huge love for me!!

First I have to say the opening is DIVINE, but its breathtaking beauty is short-lived (2 hrs--although I only truly indulged in the first 1).. The rest I'll sum it up with quotes from Kafkaesque: "I’ve spent so much time on Melodie de L’Amour’s opening stage because...I’m afraid the rest of the fragrance doesn’t live up to that heart-stopping tender beauty... There is far, far too much white musk from the middle stage onwards; the bouquet turns completely amorphous and shapeless; the musk essentially whitewashes the depth and richness of the notes into one-dimensional anonymity”

One of the most beautiful white floral fragrances I’ve ever worn. As soon as I smelled it, my eyes widened — I could just tell it was special. Tuberose and jasmine are definitely humming in this formula, but it’s the gardenia (which grew outside my childhood home) that makes this truly sing for me. Full bottle worthy. UPDATE: I loved the fragrance all the way to dry down, but my husband said I smelled like mothballs—a note I can’t detect in my nose, but I don’t doubt he truly smelled it. Oh well. I still love this scent.

Very pretty white floral. I find it very soft and inoffensive. I can't imagine others even noticing this unless they are standing right next to you or you literally spray it all over your body. Tried it on earlier today from sample dabber (applied fairly liberally to wrists and behind ears) and it became a pleasant but barely noticeable skin scent in less than three hours. It's nice but way too expensive for that kind of longevity. Might perform better misted on clothes, but I do not have a spray so cannot test that.

I just wanted to let lover's of MdA and Dusita's other scents know that they are now available in hair/body sprays. If you love her fragrances but don't have pockets deep enough (especially for MdA) I really recommend them. Not exactly cheap for body spray, but not to bad for niche. Right now, they are offering a Discovery Set and a €40 coupon towards future purchases. As a side note, Pissara is the epitome of elegance and grace, as evidenced by her handwritten thank you notes and the tastefulness of her packaging.

I randomly got a sample of this with other purchases; Dusita had never been on my radar before. I was quite literally brought to tears (I'm not usually one to be dramatic.) It was the most beautiful scent I had ever smelled in my life and it made me glad to be alive. It made me nostalgic for something that does not even exist. It reassured me of an optimistic future. This is not just a perfume - it's alive, it's expressive and it's a work of art. No wonder fragrances inspire poetry.

This is a stunning fragrance. The honey gives a smooth creaminess that balances out the white flowers. I started with a decant but it's definitely full bottle worthy (and frangrancenet.com has good discounts). I've been wearing it daily since I got my sample, sometimes layering it with Dusita Cavatina. I always prefer to wear natural scents and am willing to put up with the more fleeting scent. I find it lasts better on clothes, but I don't mind topping it off mid day.

this is a masterpiece. big white florals with incredible quality and sillage. indolic without being too animalic. probably the most realistic and addictive gardenia and tuberose fragrance i've ever smelt. tested this at the same time as amouage's love tuberose, and although they aren't similar (or meant to be compared), this one just blew the amouage away. is it worth $350 for 50ml? ask me in a few months when I probably cave and buy a full bottle...

Very pretty tuberose sweet floral. This is a very airy honey tinged tuberose with a backup of jasmine and where the broom and cedar join forces to add some clean wood and a dry stalk of hay in the background. The LOTV adds a pinch of soapy clean. This has fantastic silage and is absolutely stunning. This is one of thos fragrances that is going to cause me to sell off everything else I own to buy it with no regrets.

I feel a bit of nostalgia with this perfume.... It opens with lots of white flowers, in particular gardenia and tuberosa are very strong at first. It is soft and gentle with a "white" freshness. The drydown is more musky,i can feel like there is a melody in the background in a day or a spring night... evocative and harmonious! I like very much. Sillage: 6.5/10 Longevity: 9./10 Scent: 8.5/10 Overall: 8.5/10

This is an assertive perfume for ladies who can handle being the center of attention. It contains approx. 150 types of white floral notes on a thick amber-honey base, which is equal parts glittering and animalic. It brings to mind a self-assured woman entering a room and owning it. Neither femme fatale nor ingenue, just knowing who you are and knowing how to have a good time. Excellent work.

I love that this is not simply a tuberose scent, but a deep complex white floral scent, I get a lot of gardenia and the honey in the background is really nice, while not sweetening things up too much. Tuberose is more like a suggestion and I also do not feel any animalic facet, it is a hyperrealistic bouquet of white flowers but lakcs the indols, which is fine for me.

I’m absolutely in love with this. White flower bouquet, except we’re not innocent and light. It’s more of a dirty, come hither if you dare type of smell. There’s an almost sour undertone, and I do understand the reference to gasoline as well. I mean, all I can say is this is the most perfect naughty, grown up woman, white floral fragrance I’ve come across.

I had to mention again as this is my SOTD! This is stunning, one of the best tuberose scents out there, its like pisara has crushed a tuberose flower and directly put it in this frsgrance without any changes! its realistic, slightly sweet and soft! I love wearing this, MEN can wear this for sure! slightly honeyed tuberose with a hint of peach for me! 9/10

Mélodie de l'amour... Mom's favorite perfume <3. This is just beautiful, white florals, floating on a bed of honey that softens to the blend. Unfortunately like most of Dusita's concoctions, doesn't last very long. very wearable, a compliment getter while people around you can detect it ( for the first hour only max :( ). 8.5/10 in my humble opinion.

Beautiful in every way that tuberose can be. It's a scent that is firmly ingrained in my mind as overtly feminine, so I used my sample as aromatherapy. And what quality aromatherapy it was. Amazingly lifelike and three dimensional. If a special lady in your life likes tuberose, you can't go wrong with this for a special occasion. Worth its price.

The truest, most lovely gardenia I have ever tried. Not mixed with fruity notes. It smells exactly like gardenia flower pot, with a hint of damp soil. Intial touberose blast (so in your face that it reminded me of EL Beautiful Love at first) obligingly disappears in 5 min and that's exactly how I like it.

I can't believe how much I like this! I hate tuberose! Haaaaaate it!! This is exceptional! This reprogrammed my nose to give tuberose a chance. It's so sweet and juicy, almost like honeysuckle, but still feels very mature and elegant. As someone said below -- a must try -- even for the tuberose haters!

This is absolutely narcotic, my favourite white floral scent. But there is a but and a big one. This is ridiculously expensive: 295 euros for a 50 ml bottle. Dusita's recent creations, fortunately, have now more decent prices but not this baby. It's a shame cause it is really a botanical paradise.

This perfume is really growing on me. It’s a white flower bouquet composition, jasmine and tuberose are the most prominent. A peach base and an undertone of sweet tartness is there that I get a bit of also in other Dusita floral perfumes. I don’t find it overwhelming and smells very natural.

White flowers and water. Huge unsalted water . Meadow. Fresh air. And it needs air. Wear it outside. Really floral . Unique scent that you can’t mess with any others. I would say that it’s more for a lady middle age. Has drama inside, has power and artistism . Fresh, but it some naughty way.

Gorgeous white floral bouquet. There are so many white floral fragrances in the market but this is still different. It is elegant and gorgeous and also very classy and sensual at the same time. You can smell of quality in it. If you love white flowers, you will love this scent.

It’s a stunner! Even though I’m not into the floral scents, this one smells really smooth and natural. And actually I can pick some similar notes to my favorite Erawan (something hay-like as well). Very well balanced floral scent with a touch of sweetness. My ig: scent.guide

Ahhh! MdLA is so captivating! It’s everything I was looking for in a white floral scent: it’s green, fresh, sweet, lush, buttery, very feminine and a little naughty. I find it similar to Truth or Dare but more wearable, less sweet and heady.

I agree with everything marcoluke said. It's beautiful, natural, I wish it was stronger and longer lasting. I understand that you can't expect a fragrance with natural ingredients to be as strong as a chemical, but one can dream... 😊 7/10

My second Dusita sample and once again, I'm totally blown away. I've tried many gardenia perfumes, I love the note, but never found "the one". Simply put, this one is it. It's perfect. A must try for all lovers of white florals.

This is very real fresh gardenia smelling, if you like tuberose, you will love this! its pretty strong so only couple of sprays required! you can tell there is natural oils used which makes a big difference!!! 7.5/10

This is beautiful! A blast of white florals with a lot of gardenia. The gardenia is very much like the gorgeous Dame gardenia soliflore, loud and true to the flower. 10 stars!

This is Thai temple scent. You can smell this scent when you enter the hall of principle Buddha statue of all temples in Thailand. It's a very beautiful and sacred scent.

This is a very beautiful realistic white floral starring gardenia, tuberose, jasmine and lily of the valley. I don’t smell any peach. The longevity is below average.

Remarkably similar to Pelagos considering the difference in note breakdown. This one is lacking the salty element but the dry down is basically the same.

Thank god that this stunning fragrance exists on the world. Definitely this is the best perfume I met in my life, and that's all.

Ah nothing like some good ole indole to brighten you'r day. This is the real deal; a true white floral in all it's stanky glory.
