Cuir Rouge

A mostly unknonwn and underrated gem! Wow, what a surprise! I was travelling around the hilly areas near Biarritz and visited La Bastide Clairence. There was one of the 4 French shops of the brand, and I took my time to discover the many fragrances from this local Basque nose, Christian Louis. Most of the masculine formulas deal with the local botanical features of the land and coast, fifty shades of green. And then, CUIR ROUGE really hooked my senses for its beauty, completely unexpected, it stood out among the others. I didn't buy it right away, I don't know why. It stayed with me for the whole way back to Biarritz and I remember I couldn't stop sniffing my wrist. The day after I went to the nearest PeSdPB boutique, in the beautiful old city of Bayonne, and finally bought it. To describe it, I would say this is a leather chypre, with the classic beautiful musks, patchouli, oakmoss and guaiac combo even if it is not mentioned among the notes above it's definitely there, together with a slightly soapy floral heart. It starts off with a light citrussy whiff, very short -thanks god for that, then a smart slightly flowery leather takes the scene, softned by hint of powdery iris effect and salycilates. The bottom notes are, as said, a burst of musky chypre finale. Absolutely beautiful - and great value for money too ;-)

Cuir Rouge is a leather -geranium fragrance: earthy and fruity with a floral heart blended in Frankincense. Opens very fresh and sweet with a cest of Mandarine and grapefruite and it settles down in an Indian Amber attar oil,a bled of sandalwood,labdanum, rockrose and vanilla.Cuir Rouge smells very elegant and conservative, like an old fashion barbers aftershave lotion,very complex, aromatic and addictive to smell.The leather note is not realistic like animalic leather .Made with 100% natural ingredients.More masculine than unisex and more suitable for a 40+ person.Great projection and silage.A modern interpretation of the classic Old Spice and Bois 1920 Extreme
