Emir When Soul Gets High

"When Souls Get High" is an extremely complex & masterfully done Clone, so its only right I do its review justice. Upon its opening you're hit with a note of Honey, which will continue to evolve, & you will continue to smell for the life of this fragrance....& beyond. The Honey opens sweet, floral, powdery, & musky. A honey note is comprised of Jasmine, Rose, Orange blossom, Dandelion, Ylang-ylang, Neroli, & Lily of the valley. This Honey note is so well composed that you can literally smell each of those floral elements swirling within an amalgamation of powdery sweetness, with the Dandelion being the more pronounced note among the florals. The Almond note in this opening is playing two roles. One nuance is assisting the Honey's floral powderiness, & the other is supporting the Cherry note giving it an Amaretto accord. As the Honey opening transitions its met with a note of Gingerbread adding a wonderful spice as it transitions into its Cherry Tobacco accord. Its in this stage of the fragrance where it can either smell like Chamomile tea with Honey, Gingerbread Cookies, & Cherry Pipe Tobacco, or it can like Honeyed Chamomile tea with a shot of Amaretto, & Cherry Pipe Tobacco. Either way its dark, mysterious, & sexy with an air of elegance. This stage of the fragrance lasts for a strong 8 hours before finally moving into the base, which then smells like a Honey Incense due to the combination of Amber, Labdanum, Olibanum, Benzoin, & Tonka Bean. The once "powdery" nuance of the Honey subtly becomes Ashy as it blends with the Labdanum. Then as the other resins become more pronounced the fragrance takes on the accord of "Honey Incense". ... but it doesnt end there. Theres also a sub-base. After many of the top, mid, & base notes recede you're left with a floral musk heavy note of Honey. This musky honey accord stayed on my skin for 96 hours. Thats 4 days with multiple showers & it was still there as a Skin Scent. When it comes down to comparing Kilian's "Back To Black" & Paris Corner's "When Souls Get High" in my opinion the only differences are in each fragrances density. Kilian's "Back To Black" doesnt smell intense. It smells light & airy, which creates an illusion of being better blended with higher quality notes. Paris Corner's "When Souls Get High" smells intense. Its extremely dense & smells thick in the air. Which creates the illusion of not being as well blended, & not containing as high of a quality of notes. In the air no one would be able to tell the two apart. Kilian's "Back To Black" retails for $295. Paris Corner's "When Souls Get High" goes for $40 Kilian's "Back to Black" is nothing more than an extremely over priced Skin Scent. It lasts on skin 12 hours. But it does not project, so no one will even smell you. Back To Black's overall performance & longevity pales in comparison to "When Souls Get High". Making the Clone the better fragrance, & best option for purchase. I'm a confessed "Niche Snob", so if I'm choosing a "Clone" over an "Original" that says a lot. Lastly, this fragrance is perfectly Unisex & can be worn by Men & Women.

Sweet HONEY, TOBACCO & TONKA Scent - Like a Cherry Danish with White-Icing in a Cigar Bar This is a dupe of Back to Black by Kilian with good approximation and slightly above average performance. I predominantly get a white-honey/icing & boozy cherry combo that reminds me of a cherry danish with white icing. Tobacco is here but it's more in the ambience, and leans to the tobacco facets of tonka bringing an indeterminate darkness. There's a strong tonka-bean presence here that finds its way into everything, and together with almond bolsters the almond extract notes found in cherry pie filling. The many spicy notes here bolster the tobacco accord. Although it's a dupe of Back to Black by Kilian, you will also catch reminders of other popular honey, tobacco & tonka scents, but what makes this (and Back to Black) unique is the extent to which the cherry notes from tonka appear, and the white-honey/icing facet. It's a love for me. 10/10. Enjoy! Update 11/03/24: Sprayed this on today as the weather is cooler. The tobacco note is coming a bit more forward now. The sillage is beautiful - like a sweet, dark cherry liqueur - and up close I get the super sweet honey-tobacco-cherry combo more. I can pick out all the notes if I try, but mostly their building the honey-tobacco-cherry blend. To be even more reductionist, even the tobacco & cherry could be said to be building the honey which is the main player to my nose. Still a love.

Heard many likening it to back to black, which I don't know at all. I am with the frenetic delicious group. Frenetic delicious was my very 1st middle eastern perfume and as much as I loved the notes the migraine it gave me was hell. I gave it away. Now this one is all that without the headache/migraine. I love love this perfume. And the tobacco is not overwhelming at all but I get hues there n there. I creamy, powdery, sweet and still with tobacco accords. I enjoy it. It's beastly for my nose, so I don't do 13 sprays with this one but 4, not sure if maybe I'm just wary of the migraine I used to get on just 2 sprays of frenetic delicious. It's definitely for cooler weather... Ps: I am a female and I am crazy about when my soul gets high🤤 Edit: Now that I have spent some time with this gem, I'm glad I got it. Ok it definitely begins/opens as emir frenetic delicious, then changes as it moves to mid and base notes. It's actually where the magic is. The whiffs you get past the opening are heavenly. My guess is that's where it transitions to back to black, which I can't confirm as I don't know it. It's a beautiful scent get it, and it last a life time on clothes and skin, you won't stop smelling yourself. I love it.

Cherry liqueur with a biscuit, honey and incense base. This is my fourth wearing and I've noticed it gets powdery at about hours 5 or 6. No tobacco at all, which kind of irks me because it is the note that tempted me into the blind-buy. A boozy cherry is dominant throughout - only tempered by warm and comforting biscuit and honey notes. Despite my not smelling any tobacco I am enjoying this Paris Corner release. The fragrance I think When Soul Gets High resembles the most is Dior's Fève Délicieuse. Unfortunately I haven't smelled Back To Black so cannot speak to it; and because there is no tobacco and honey mix I consider likening this fragrance to either Naxos or Pure Havane a bit far-fetched. However I am going to say this is a "niche" scent - certainly not mainstream. Performance is excellent. You should get around 14 hours, and will still smell it after showering. When Soul Gets High is an autumn, winter and early spring scent. Attractive presentation: the bottle and tin cylindrical packaging is the same as that of Emir You're Drugged.

I knew going in that this one would be polarizing. I can understand the criticisms that this smells like “cherry baby wipes”...but I get something else, a vibe that can only be described as goth girls from the ‘90s: clove cigarettes, cherry liqueur, white face powder and cheap black lipstick, the most noxiously sweet and smoky incense you could find. I blind bought it, and as a former Baby BatTM️, I personally love it—but I wouldn’t recommend doing that if you’re unsure about the notes at all. It’s beyond beast mode, something I’ll very sparingly spray on clothes only.

This is DARK, COMPLEX and an aquired taste!!!! A beautiful fecally sweet, raw animalic honey tobacco scent. It is super long lasting if used in the right conditions (cool weather / night time situations) You will enjoy this in close encounters beacuse It is a conversation starter😉😊 Edit Jul/2025: Gave this out to my house cleaner after a year. It was too heavy for me, he came back and wanted to buy a back up bottle. Apparently he got alot of compliments and attention at work from wearing it. Said he only does 4 sprays and he's gucci all day😁

I don't know what they put in this stuff, but it is pure magic, but in the "black magic" type of way. Definitely not for everyone, it is a mature scent and very sophisticated. I mostly detect boozy cherries, covered in a big layer of quality tobacco, having a honey heart. Very unique, heavy and intoxicating perfume in the best possible way. I immediately fell in love with it and secured a second bottle. And yes, it is almost identical to Kilian Back to Black. The name is also very fitting as you feel high when wearing it.

I love this one, but def not for everyone. Mainly, I get cherry with mature tobacco. There is also honey and the rest is mystery to me. I love it. This is grown up stuff, and it's not for parties. If you like Red Tobacco I imagine you would like this. You have to love tobacco scents, and then also honey scents in order to enjoy this one. You also have to love heavy scents, this sh is not light at all. I got it as a gift and my god am I happy to have received it. One of the world of fragrances' hidden gems.

When I got this it smelled of pure 🐈⬛ 💦 hahaha. I was shocked and totally new to Arabian perfumes. Luckily I'd read up on maturation and oxidation, so I sprayed it out, gave it time (6+ months) and it turned out to be one of my favourite perfumes. 🖤 It's complex, rich in tobacco, powdery yet slightly animalic (on my skin) and the sweetness is quite dark. I have a few tobacco perfumes, but nothing that even comes close to When Soul Gets High. It's unique, I love it!

This is a beautiful scent. Very deep and mysterious. I can actually say this is love at first sniff. I can smell the honey, a faint whiff of cherry, labdanum, vanilla, almond and tonka bean. I will update as the day progressive, but this is a true love from the packaging to the spray.If you have a sensitive nose, do not like Niche perfumes or polarizing perfumes- stay away from this one.

I remember when i first got this all i smelled was silicone and piss-honey. Now a year later it gives beautiful chamomille, tart cherry, some lemon zest, candied ginger and a bit of cookie dough. Very very big longevity. It still smells quirky but now it does it excitingly and unabashedly.

This is the only scent to ever make my mouth water... I love it. I immediately get a tart and syrupy cherry that felt similar to actually eating a cherry dessert. I am blown away. The honey is sticky while the tonka and tobacco bring this down to earth. Love at first sniff! WOW!

Great scent and very good quality. It's like you took a shower with honey and cherry. I don't get the tobacco notes tho. Projection is very good in the first 2 hours and longevity is insane. I can smell it on me after 12 hours.

I received my bottle about a month ago.... It smells like "sexy baby powder" on me. I get vanilla, benzoin, honey and tobacco so far, and I'm looking forward to it "maturing". It should be really interesting in the fall.

In my quest for scoring bargains, I came across this one. This is said to be a clone of Back to Black by Killian, and me, having been hooked with tobacco accords recently, I decided that this is a must have. First spray, the fragrance overwhelmingly evokes powder! Yet, after a few moments of keen attention, I start to notice subtle hints of cherry and tobacco, with honey standing out prominently. The opening can be sharp, potentially off-putting to some. Personally, I have a fondness for tobacco fragrances, and this one truly tests that affection. Despite the initial 'baby powder' impression, the tobacco note remains enjoyable for me. Nonetheless, I brace myself for a complex experience. As the fragrance evolves, the honey note slowly emerges, morphing the scent into a beautifully sweet-animalic aroma. This phase might still not appeal to everyone. I can detect the presence of cherry and a fruity hint from the raspberry. In its final stages, the scent maintains honey as its core, with vanilla adding sweetness. This fragrance is like a chameleon, presenting a powdery aspect one moment, a rich honey sensation the next, and then a profound tobacco aura thereafter. But it's all honey at the deep dry down. This fragrance can smell mysterious when put on the right occasion. I don't recommend wearing this in hot weather. It can make this somewhat nauseating. A cold weather or an AC controlled environment would suit this perfectly. Longevity on this is great. 12hrs+ with an above average projection. This is also unisex. It hangs on that unisex spectrum well. Or maybe slightly, just slightly towards the masculine side. The quality on this is not bad for the price, and I can't say it has the smoothest of blending, but it's not bad. Final Rating: 7.5

Wore this today in error. Bought Emir You’re Drugged and When Soul Gets High at the weekend. Both bottles look similar. Same package and presentation. Meant to wear YD today (similar to A*Men and Intoxicated) and sprayed a couple of dots on my neck. Too late to turn back at that point. Added a further one to my shirt collar and one on the chest. 4 in total. It’s 8.30pm and I’m still getting the odd waft of this 14 hours later. I’ve been to the gym and the heat has revived it a bit, but it’s still going. To begin, there’s a hell of a lot going on. I mean, a lot. I get the cherry, raspberry, tobacco, cedar, some flowery notes, honey, spices, resins and a bit of vanilla. Tbh, it’s a bit too much to begin. It stays like this for a good 10-15 minutes but it starts to develop into a dark, fruity spicy number. The cherry and tobacco hit hard after 20 minutes. The honey, vanilla and tonka add to the sweetness, but it’s not until around an hour that you get this powdery (almost a talcum powder ) note. Clean, powdery, sweet. And that’s how this pans out for what seems an age. Definitely punches hard for the first 60-90 minutes. Continues with a decent sillage (moderate to strong projection) for a good few hours. When you smell it close to the skin, you get the honey, cherry and tobacco vibe. At a distance, it gives off this soothing, powdery vibe. Not the best dark, fruity scent I’ve ever worn (I love Black Orchid), but for a mere $65 AUD, it smells a lot more expensive. Leans slightly masculine on my skin, but could easily pass as unisex. Winter scent. Day or evening. Probably leans evening/date night. Maybe spray and wait 15-20 before you leave the house. 4.5/5 Edit: I’ve never smelled Back To Black, so can’t compare.

The review below mine is spot on, for the most part. This one very well could be unisex, and really does fit the color black. I could picture this working well with a black leather jacket, or a black dress. This is a beast; I could smell it projecting in the air even after 12 hours. When Soul Gets High is a silly name, but this fragrance is no joke. I tested By Killian Back to Black at the department store, and this does come very close. The notes are almost identical. I do notice the powdery dry down (my gf said "baby powder!"), but the honey and fruits don't hit me as hard as others claim they do. I just get this dark and semi-sweet scent that smells like an evenly balanced combination of all the notes. It reminds me of Prada Luna Rossa Black if you replace the heavy tonka and vanilla notes with a smooth blend of dark fruits and cherry tobacco. Excellent value for the money, but it's not for everyone. This scent is not for the casual crowd; it's for people looking for something totally different than the typical designer stuff out there. This is more of a mood fragrance, and not something you're getting to turn heads or for compliments. I guess this review would be the same for Back to Black, but I don't own a bottle, so I won't copy and paste this. By the way, Fire Your Desire is a decent Angel's Share clone, but doesn't have the performance of this one. Haven't tried You're Drugged (Intoxicated) yet.

Tried Back to Black, didn't like it. Husband didn't like it either. The scent itself was nice enough, but it was such straight up honeyed chamomile tea, which is such a childhood memory for both of us that we don't see it as perfume. Got a sample of this. Sprayed it on said husband. Couldn't stop smelling his neck. Got a full bottle 😊. * * * This is much better as a fragrance than the one it's trying to dupe. The notes are mixed better, and their proportions work, again, better. The honey can sometimes give off a slight 'piss' when you smell the bottle/cap, but not on the skin. (Also, I get that from a good chunk of perfumes with a prominent honey note, so I'm kinda expecting that and not holding it against Emir's creation.) It's a unisex scent, for sure. With a conservative application (1 or 2 sprays on the upper arm for test), It didn't project all that much but it did last for a while.
