Forbidden Sugar

Forbidden Sugar is difficult to describe. In my 57 years on this planet I've never smelled anything like it. I've had my bottle for a year now and it has evolved, or perhaps my nose has, from what I originally thought was unisex, leaning male to leaning feminine. It's a rich, honeyed, sugary, coconut, orange blossom bomb at first spray. Maybe slightly aquatic but more dense than a typical aquatic. More of a fruity floral than a gourmand. After a few minutes I pick up a sugary violet drizzled with caramel. This is where I pick up the cassis note: green and slightly sharp. Once the top and heart notes settle, I'm left with a sweet coconut, caramel, sugary, honeyed musk with a hint of orange blossom and violet. I do not pick up a raspberry note at all. Because of the strong notes in FS it's easy to go scent blind, especially if over sprayed and worn near the face. It's quite a strong fragrance and once the brain realizes the composition isn't a threat, it moves on and one will no longer be able to pick up much scent. I believe this is why there are complaints about longevity. It's quite different from the vintage, spicey, amber bombs that I love or even all the oud fragrances I prefer. I do enjoy wearing it and find that it wears best in the fall. Different but lovely. I will be repurchasing in the future if it's still available. Oh, and there were votes that said FS was similar to MFK's Oud Satin Mood. Everyone has different interpretations of what they smell but as someone who loves and wears Oud Satin Mood regularly in the winter, there is nothing comparable between the two.

Forbidden Sugar gets a lot of hate online, but I kind of like it. It is unique, but the florals and powdery aspects are reminding me of Classique and Alien. No wonder this is a polarizing scent just like the other two. It’s also reminding me of LDBS with the shocking sweetness and medicinal quality, not that it smells like LDBS, just a similar vibe. I’m glad I found a deal for 3 ME travel sprays including this, I’d possibly be disappointed if I spent 30+ dollars on this. It’s mostly honey, Cassis, jasmine and orange blossom. I will try to layer with something marshmallow and hope this gets better as it matures. Edit: I actually really like this and I’m happy to have it in my collection! It’s a little overwhelming and strong AF at first, but the dry down smells sweet yet classy with that musky orange blossom. I think this could be a good winter or date night signature. It’s so unique!

I love this, but it doesn’t perform well for me. I let it sit for a couple of months to mature. Today, I picked it up again and wore it. After two hours, it’s only faintly noticeable. I’m gonna put it back on the shelf and let it mature longer. Hopefully, after a few more months, I will actually be able to wear it without having to overspray or reapply after three hours.

Forbidden Sugar is a very unique scent it’s a sweet powdery floral I smell a lot of honey, marshmallow, violet and orange blossom it’s a 1 to 1 for Sugar Franck by Boclet it smells just like it but I find this one a little more powdery I’ve had it for over a year now it has macerated nicely it smells great!

Just got it! All I get at the moment is powdered sugar, peach, a little hint of caramel flavoured cotton candy and a little bit of suede. Gorgeous 😍 Edit; Forbidden Sugar dries down to a vintage musky make up powder scent, i personally love that but its probably not everyone's cup of tea.

This is an absolute 1:1 dupe for Boclet’s SUGAR. I had the original and sold it a while back. Didn’t like the dry down of SUGAR it turned really plastic like on me. I would say that this is better than sugar in the dry down. If you wanna save money just get this.

I love this. Honey isnt always my fave note but I love this scent. Sweet, fruity, yummy. And it gets better with time.

An amazing perfume with high quality.

I had bought this too early in my fragrance journey and decluttered it too soon without giving it much of chance. I’m currently experiencing seller’s remorse. It’s certainly a sugar bomb—and borderline obnoxious—hence it being called “Forbidden.” I highly don’t recommend wearing this in the summer season (as I had made the mistake of doing), but it’s your choice. It is too much sweetness, and it does feel dense and cloying. I don’t remember which notes were most prominent in this fragrance, but I do recall it leaning masculine (although I feel that a man would say this is more feminine). Nevertheless, there is an addictive quality to it, and it was getting better with time, but I wasn’t patient enough and sold it. Packaging is everything, and the bottle for this did not miss a beat.

Haha, I've had this for a while now, and at first I didn't understand the nature of this scent at all. When you look at the notes, you would imagine this to be a very complex and multi-dimensional scent, but I don't think this is. To me, this is like the clean honeyed powder base of some expensive fragrance, the sugary sweet makeup musk, that part of fancy perfumes that you smell in whiffs, but you never really get a hold of that scent enough to analyze what you just smelled. This scent is like that on steroids. Like a well-kept secret that is thrown out naked, and you just don't fully understand what you see. Layer this with anything in your closet and the result is like a million dollar broth. every time.

This is a gorgeous scent IMO it’s a sugary sweet with fruits leans feminine and projects. This is dark and sensual. You have to love gourmands to be able to enjoy this one. The fragrance is very very dense and very perfumei slighting cloying but great for layering. It’s an all year round esp layered very versatile and layers with a lot. Some say it's for women. But, I would say it's quite unisex. Fall, winter, spring fragrance. Maybe too dense for summer daytime wear. I wouldn't put it in my top 10 but definitely worth having in the collection for occasional wear.

Simply powdery but I like it but I don’t really get much other than powdery lol

It's a beautifull scent but the honey notes throws me off a little.

Complex; ozonic, clean, honeyed, and musky. It's feminine and pretty, in its genre. It evokes me a fairy vibe, playful and mischievous at the same time. Something ethereal, sweet and airy. While the drydown tends to smell like clean aquatic flowers and honey on my skin, the opening only offered me a brief hint of juicy pear, some peach and maybe bergamot and raspberry. Fruits are not predominant, but maybe their blend is the kind of freshness I can perceive. It is indeed very sweet, but not in a gourmand way. For now I can't distinguish the caramel, the vanilla or the mashmallow, but sweet (not animalic) honey yes. I clearly smell the blend of violet, jasmine, orange blossom and musk, that are predominant to my nose - it's almost like a laundry note. With a (very) subtle coconut in it. Not bad, but I don't think I'll tend to gravitate toward this scent.

I’m so conflicted about this one. This was a blind buy so I really wanted to like it. It is very sweet, almost bubble gummy, which I like. It is sexy in a playful way. But there is a sharpness about this fragrance that throws me off every time. I’m not sure where it’s coming from. My guess is cassis or musk or the combination of the two. This sharpness and the intensity definitely makes this perfume more appropriate for a grown woman in my opinion, even though it has a playful vibe. This is not a simple flat sweet gourmand fragrance. I just wish that the sweetness and the more sharp aspects of this perfume were blended better together. Because to me it feels like there are 2 completely different things going on. I will give it some time in hopes that it will mature.

I love its sugary and honey facet, but these white flowers cover the fragrance and smother it. What a shame. Some days I can tolerate wearing it, while others it makes me want to throw up.

Oh my gosh!! Only four people have attempted to explain their understanding of this perfume! I think the lack of reviews probably reflects the challenging nature of this fragrance. Here’s where the complexity comes from—just look at the number of notes in Forbidden Sugar’s composition! How many did you count? 80? Me too. It’s a hodgepodge. A smorgasbord. And the order?! Both unexpected and stacked with cavity-inducing culprits. Right off the top, you’ve got honey and marshmallow!! This combination is sweet but animalic, coming out aggressively swinging. There’s just so much energy to contend with!! Lord knows that bergamot in the opening is doing its utmost acidic best to cut through this THICK confection, but ultimately it’s powerless against this beast-mode perfume. Coconut? If it’s in there, that guy’s in the corner minding his own business. The mid has even more sugar—thick caramel, sweet vanilla, and the fructose from pear and peach, which come across as ultra-ripened, juicy fruits. The final stage brings raspberry, which feels like a bold departure from the norm. Fruit in the base of a perfume is rare, though maybe I just haven’t met enough perfumes. Honestly, I don’t get much of it; mostly what lingers is powder—a whole vat of it—from violet and musk. Forbidden Sugar is like a cheerleader who’ll fight another girl in the parking lot of a McDonald’s. Yes, she’s sweet, but she packs a potent punch. And sometimes... I think I’m that other girl going toe to toe with a nemesis. I’ve tried so hard with this perfume—taken it out, sprayed it, gauged my mood with it. I’ve put it away for weeks, pulled it out, loved it for the first half hour, then been annoyed with it the next hour. This perfume is not for someone who’s only dabbled in perfumery, who’s sniffed a few things in Sephora. You have to be committed to exploring scents. You have to be willing to leave behind your ideas about how marshmallows SHOULD smell, where notes belong in the tier, you have to be willing to play with the line between chaos and cohesion. I can’t promise you’ll leave the parking lot confrontation the winner. This chick might wipe the floor with you. Be careful. Have fun.

I absolutely love this fragrance. It’s definitely in my top 10. It’s gorgeous. I’ve had it for a couple of years now. Unlike most budget middle easterns – this was wearable straight out of the box . It has gained depth since then. It’s really flirty and feminine yet in no way restricted to juvenile wear (I’m far from that and wear what I like). Of course it's sweet yet somehow not cloying though I think it's more suited to winter/fall/spring than summer. Very delicious with a marshmallow note you can really pick up. It smells way more expensive than its price. There’s something just so uplifting about it – it always puts me in a good mood. I can’t be without this; it’s absolutely backup bottle worthy and I really hope it’s not discontinued until I have enough to last me years.
