Identity Oud Crescent

SEE EDIT ONE MONTH LATER & FIVE MONTHS LATER, I’m surprised. _____________________________________________________________ Disappointing, a disaster fragrance! There is nothing good about this. I can only imagine that the vast majority of people will be very disappointed by this except those who like to have chemical air fresheners in their house. Cheap but falls short as it doesn’t resemble the OG, but that’s not even the issue, it’s a terrible fragrance in its own right. You get the red berries at the opening and they persist to the point that they are irritating, but the oud is hardly detectable and nothing like that found in the OG which has the classic, slightly synthetic smelling western oud note with some animalic character. There is no animalic character to this and therefore it fails to capture the true character to any degree but it is totally incomplete without that as a standalone fragrance. Beyond the berries, it smells like something farmers use to dip sheep in, to prevent them getting fleas and ticks. There’s something sordid and naughty about The Moon, similar to walking into a room where two people have just been intimate but since disappeared and that vibe is absent from this composition. Where is the important rose note here too? Steamrollered over by the acidic berries and undetectable. There are clear places and reasons why you may wish to wear The Moon but that can’t be said of this unfortunately. This has no role or purpose. I’ve tried layering with pure Dehn al oud and other oud heavy fragrances and then it improves but give this one a miss if you value your money, it’s not worth the gamble. I hadn’t seen the two recent negative reviews as they were published just after I’d blind bought. Not nice for Middle Eastern or Arabian tastes or western ones either. Great atomiser though.... it works. Edit, one month later after planning to leave it for a year: Oh no, I feel guilty now, this is so much closer to the original and I think I could really enjoy. I never thought I’d order more but I’m contemplating it now. Edit, five months later. Red berries and fruits massively toned down and almost quite subtle now. Oud and leather, with some fruit. It has evolved to be quite a good dupe of the OG. Very rounded out and smooth but also a lot like the Rose and Leather one in this line as the green rose has popped out more prominently.

I blind-bought this fragrance after testing The Moon by Frederic Malle, and honestly... OMG. I still can’t understand how clone/dupe houses managed to reach this level of quality and similarity to the original at such a ridiculously low price ($19). It’s mind-blowing. It opens with a magical, fruity blend of raspberry and lychee, wrapped in soft rose notes. I really wish this opening lasted longer because it’s incredibly alluring to my nose. As it develops, the oud starts to come into play—but thankfully, it’s not that fecal or animalic oud that I personally dislike. Instead, it’s smooth, refined, and very easy on the nose. In the dry-down, it settles into a slightly sweet, woody, leathery base that feels elegant and well-balanced. Performance is spot-on for this kind of scent. Around 5–9 sprays, depending on the situation, are more than enough. I highly recommend this fragrance for cold weather and special nights. It definitely needs a classy outfit to truly shine. I’m seriously considering making it my signature scent. Stay safe and smell good, guys 🫶🏻

Also surprised that not many people have reviewed this cologne because it is very very good. I was at Maximum Fragrance in the G.T.A and I told a worker there that I wanted an oud fragrance, then I told him that I was very interested in Barrakat Satin Oud by Fragrance World. He told me that that was a good choice, but that this was even better. When I first tested it, it had a very strong oud smell, but then dried down into something amazing. I could smell the rose and all the other notes a lot more! They blended so perfectly. I went home and my mom smelt it on me and insisted that I buy it for her, which I did. Then I figured out the best combo with this cologne. Use this as a base, I'd say 4 sprays, one spray on each pulse point. Then 4-6 sprays of Lattafa Honour and Glory. The compliments I got for this combo were insane. Even though you could use just this cologne and Honour and Glory both on their own and get compliments. This combo just works sooo well, and it is an unknown combo which makes it even better! Try it out and wait for the compliments.

I was surprised to see no one reviewed the fragrance yet on fragrantica which is a pity for such an interesting one. I blind bought just based on the notes, I expected a fruity/rosy opening with an oudy drydown which is exactly what you get. It has a very mature and mysterious vibe. I found two sprays to be more than enough and it lasts quite a long time, it is very easy to suffocate everyone around so this is not an office wear in my book, it is a winter date night type of fragrance. The oud has that fecal note that those new to oud might find repulsive, but you very quickly get used to it and you don't even notice it. It is opposite of blind-buy safe unless you already have experience with oud. I am aware the fragrance tries to clone The Moon but I have never smelled it so can't say much there. Most people say it smells woody, and the biggest positive attribute of the fragrance is this mysterious vibe it gives, other than that for a ~25$ fragrance it does the job incredibly well.

For the lovers of "the moon" by FM, they will enjoy. I can detect the resemblance from the first sniff. I love it and I am happy that I have it. I will update after one month. I come across the other reviews below, I agree with Dr Laith's review. The opening is stunning but don't stay long, then appears the Oud, but what a wonderful Oud, like the one in "THE MOON".

I had high hopes for this, I was very disappointed. It smells like burnt rubber tire, very synthetic, not at all layer-able. I would definitely not recommend this perfume if you can call that. There are no fruity notes and if they are, they are lost with the amount of synthetic leather. I know if a cologne or perfume is a loss cause and this seems to be the case. Thankfully, it’s very cheap and it smells like it too.

Horrible. Screechy, loud, synthetic. Do not waste your money. There's nothing fruity at all, the flower notes do not peek through. It's a linear scent that starts with overwhelming medicinal woody notes combined with plastic artificial leather. I've let it macerate for months prior to posting my review. It hasn't opened into anything wearable. Very disappointed. Spend your dollars elsewhere if you're looking for a unisex scent profile similar to the one listed. And if you find one - let me know!!

This is an absolute NO for me. It’s pungent, harsh, strong and wearing it’s almost unbearable. Please don’t blind buy this, that’s the only thing I’m going to say.

I agree with the lady below. I was so close to buying it blind and it was in my basket, I was out and about I knew of a shop that had them, so I tried it. I am so glad I did. It's giving me super DAD, only my dad could appreciate it. Dark, smokey room and leather. There's an accord named "sour" and I absolutely agree. It's very strong and over powering, an hour in on my skin it's better but still a no from me, this isn't for women at all! On the card it stayed offensive, it's got very sharp. That perfume bottle has been open for a while in the shop, and it seemed the original version of it. Gosh I even have a headache!

I love oud, and this oud - rose - raspberry combination tickles me just the right way. It's deliciously sweet and sour, with this gothic old wood scent. Absolutely intoxicating and so much nicer than Shagaf Oud that I have eyed earlier.
