Strictly Oud

Right off the top you get a dark patchouli / vetiveryl combo which comes across as slightly cottage-chess like, and I love it. If you don't like it, don't worry because that intense part is short lived. The main woody aroma (black agarwood chems) stays through the life of the fragrance but in just a few minutes a faint but detectable rose comes out. Yes, it is somewhat 2-dimensional but I don't mind it at all. This is something I wear for my own pleasure because this isn't a crowd pleaser. That being said, I think you could even get away with wearing this in an office because this isn't a nuclear projector at all. I think some people might be taken aback by its initial animalic punch. But it is definitely a skin scent with moderate to below average longevity. This is one of my all-time favorite cheapies and I was hoping it wouldn't get recognition because the price is already going up. I've been wearing it for a year and only last week or so was it finally posted on fragrantica. This whole lineup is spectacular, especially Oud Satin Mood--now that is quite nuclear. This is the *END* of my review but if you want to read a funny story about this fragrance I will post below.

This smells like standing on the footpath, next to an Edwardian woman, in a city still dominated by horse drawn vehicles. Roses and violets from the woman, barnyard odours from the street and horses. Basically what the painting what Tom Roberts, Christmas Flowers and Christmas Belles would smell like if you were standing in the scene. Good goddess, I love it. Mild as barnyard ouds go, with medium longevity and projection. Animalic oud set to stun not kill.

This is awesome!!! The Night is different sh#tty gravy obviously shape-shifting morphing but also horrendous for the first 30 minutes. Al Haramain Dehnal Oudh Seufi EDP is closer to the Night and imo unwearable bought and sold on ebay without a month . Thus however after the first 10 minutes is wonderful but a little challenging.

My dad bought this for husband. This is nuclear. I can't believe people voted this as intimate and moderate. When he oversprays this, it totally kills all other smells. Our nose just cease to function after that. He can work out and do all stinky stuff but he still smells amazing.

I saw the reviews and thought: I like oud, some people talk about skanky oud, how does that smell? So based on these negative reviews and low rating I bought it, it's relatively cheap. My impression is that this is cherry oud, nothing really "animalic" or skanky here. There are some interesting notes for the first 30 minutes but I don't know what it is exactly, it's just interesting and unique to me. Olibanum? By the notes, the thing I consider "cherry" should probably be "rose" and in a way it even is but "cherry" is stronger. If anything then perhaps half-wilted rose in this case but I still stick to cherry. The liquid has a nice cherry colour and it smells like a cherry liquor or some other cherry drink that has gone rancid a bit, having a bit of mold on top. So I'd give it 4/5 because it is generally good but nothing too outstanding either. Interesting anyway. Oh, the sprayer is very good, gives a very nice and diffused mist, similar to Vetiver Ambrato (I wish Le Labo would use such!)

Nicely done rose and Oud combo. Rose is strong and Oud comes out on the drydown. Nice.

This one definitely starts off anamalic and does smell like an animals excrement. After a few minutes it calms down and the true scent profile shines through. It has a deep rose presence and the saffron is there as well to balance out the rose. Hints of sandlewood are detectable as well. The oud is ever present and I get a sour sprite (the soda) note in there as well. This perfume is elegant and not for every day wear. I would say this would be a special occasion perfume. Mature and classy. Nothing playful or youthful about this one. Edit: This has an off putting sour note that I can't put my finger on. Because of this I have lowered my overall score from 4/5 to 3/5. Just get Shaghaf oud Aswad instead. It's infinitely better. Cheers.

People saying that this smell like shit probably have never smelt the perfume. They're just internet trolls. That said, let's go to the fragrance. This was blind, an attempt of saving my precious The Night, which is very expensive. This indeed smells like The Night without that strong barnyard smell, probably cause this has no real oud. But on the other side, they did a pretty good job here, specially with the rose notes. The smell is really pleasant and performs well but there are no miracles, it smells very synthetic. It's a strange smell in the bottom that several cheap fragrances share. I'm not keeping it. Will sell for the same price I paid.

Indeed smells like a $h!t in the initial couple of minutes but after that, it gets better. Nevertheless, I like it.

Unless you know what you getting ... do not get this. I rarely hate scents. This one is going directly to trash 🗑. (This only happened 3 times in 10 + years).

Strictly Oud has some barnyard qualities to it but not full on barnyard and i'll explain why: If you ever went to a farm, and im not talking about those big "industrialised" farms, but those small rural farms (avoided using the word "peasant"), where barn hygiene and cleanliness isn't exactly up to standards, to put it mildly, then you know the predominant smell you get is an enveloping, pungent mix of manure and wet, urine soaked hay. Given the rather distastefull description above, for which i apologise, Strictly Oud DOESN'T smell like a barnyard, because it doesn't share the smell of animal waste. The animalic quality of the fragrance stems from the natural scent of animals and their furrs. I thought its important to mention all of this because often people automaticly assume the adjective "barnyardy" equals with fecal. Basically what you get with this fragrance is a rose and animalic musk perfume. The rose is not the jammy kind, it leans more towards the soapy type but as a reference, its not as soapy as Montale does their rose for example. The blend to my nose is surprisingly well done, it doesn't smell like a cheap perfume altho admitedly nor does it have the depth of an ultra luxury fragrance and for the price it goes for you cannot expect that. I sprayed this fragrance for my family, for the LOL's, expecting wild reactions and to my surprise they found it smelling like expensive soap and didn't find it repulsive. In conclusion, i'd still be warry of using this fragrance in public because some might pick up on the animalic facets and think you haven't bathed in months but other then that, nothing scary here and i'd be curious on how this is picked up in the air around the wearer, because it might be more wearable then many of us think. P.S.: I never smelled FM's The Night.

this is amazing if you like stanky animalic fragrances becauses its so cheap. Its has both a chessy and fecal note but without being so overdone, it's not nauseating. It's sexy and dirty to my nose.

I definitely don't get the rose here....smells pure oud and animalic. Definitely not my cup of tea. It's like some herbal medicine in the an old hospital....a bad blind buy 😔
