Wayward Charlie

Wayward Charlie is very much Marilyn Monroe doing a striptease dressed as a Venom; the first bit is a bit horrifying upfront but as the layers peel away it gets better and better and ends super girly. If you are looking for something unique, this one is definitely a delightful weirdo. It opens with Vicks over tuberose with something petrochemical. It quickly morphs into a sweet tuberose and it ends with a tropical, creamy vanilla dry down. I've tried a whole lot of tuberoses to try and find one I like. Most are just simply too huge and cloying for regular wear. This one is what Carnal flower was sold to me as, an original tuberose with a mentholic edge. Instead it was disappointing, overhyped and not worth the price. Magnificent longevity. Good but not antisocial projection. A bargain at four times the price. Edit: the longer I own this, the more I love it. There's a green element that comes out that fresh and like crushed vegetation. This is one of those scents that rewards sitting with it and trying to understand the complexity.

Wow! What is this? A very unusual scent. Not like anything I have come across before. I haven't tried Boclet Cocaine, but this is sublime. A strong, bold scent that, to my nose, is centred around a very strong, natural tuberose. You have to like tuberose to enjoy this scent. This is not your typical floral scent. Very strong tuberose, can maybe detect lily behind it, helping push the tuberose, even more to the forefront... but there is something almost mentholic. Like, the petals of the tuberose have been glossed over by someone with vicks vapour rub residue on their hands. It doesn't detract from the tuberose, but adds something. Sometimes, there is a greeness that comes through and at times, soft sweetness. It eventually dries down into lush, creamy whiteness.This is not a happy perfume. It almost reminds me of a funeral procession. Strong and stoic, a little sad, almost wilting... but beautiful nevertheless.

Oh, how good this is. But this is definitely not for everyone. Lots of tobacco: a little bit even ash, but only a little. Heavy tuberose and honeyed sweetness, a lot of sweetness. The end result reminds me of some thick tincture, not mentholated, not licorice, but something like that... A scent for big hairstyles, strong makeup and shoulder pads...love it!

As a tuberose lover - I am absolutely fascinated with this fragrance. It opens with a medicinal, sharp, bitter orange, biting the nose. Somewhat like Vick's? After some time it's a wonderful white flower scent, a smooth, slippery lilly with beautiful, mature tuberose. It has Mugler Alien vibes, but dirtier. I have to get the full bottle.

Well I got this perfume over a year ago and I was looking for something out of my comfort zone and abit weird. I like it actually, you can really catch the bitter orange in there. It's definitely not everyone's cup of tea. And beware, it started to stain red after a few months so spray on only dark coloured clothing.

I picture it as a Madonna sitting with her cigarettes while drinking an alcohol, way of talking and sharing with you her adventures in her career with a hint of private realizations and wisdoms. A masterpiece that not all will be understood and appreciated. 11/10 for me.

This is tuberose and roasted nuts. Easy to wear, very light. And whoever doesn't like it, can kiss my derrière? This is way smoother than the infamous Cocaine by Franck Boclet. I would never buy that, but would buy a backup of this juice.

Such an odd little olfactory journey....but , I LIKE IT ...I THINK I LIKE IT!!! Definitely not for the faint of heart,and you have to have confidence to pull this off. Not a safe blind buy. I do welcome this oddly beautiful fragrance to my collection.

I don't think this is easy to wear nor light BY A MILE, but it's great nonetheless. Very close to Cocaine, good performance, stains clothes so be careful, you gotta love tuberose too.

Oh my goodness!! Wayward Charlie! My favorite perfume name of all time. I'm not familiar with Franck Boclets Cocaine, other than I read somewhere that it's "difficult". That makes sense, because Wayward Charlie is also difficult. It smells nothing like the notes listed at first, the beginning is just a huge blast of indolic earthiness. I love it because I've never smelled anything like it before. I read that Indole smells like mothballs, and I can smell that here a bit. Once the initial blast dies down the tuberose shows up, slowly melting into the tobacco earthiness. It also gets a little sweeter. This is definitely a tough one, but I love it. Are you a Wayward Charlie? I am!
