Cirebon

One of the more natural smelling oranges that I have smelt, the smell you have on your fingers after peeling an orange. No screeching, draws you in, pleasing, almost, in a way, a warm, meditative orange, whilst still holding a refreshing aspect to itself.

Cirebon opens with a dark and deep citrus fruit note, juicy bergamot and bitter orange. I also smell woody notes in the base. Then, the scent becomes even deeper, I smell the petitgrain now, which has a hint of bitterness to it. I smell a hint of vetiver, giving it a bit of a herbal feel. The orange blossom and magnolia soften and sweeten the scent a bit. tThe drydown is a very realistic citrus on my skin. Longevity and sillage are both moderate on me, as with all the scens of this house. Although I like the scent, it's a bit too realistic for me-- like you've just peeled an orange. Well, with bits of vetiver and sweet orange blossom, but still! If you like that sort of scents, definitely give this one a try, it's really nicely done!

it opens with an odd sour note reminding of something we called skunk cabbage which grew in marshy areas. it was not so much skunk, but herbal and very sour. the citrus loses the sour and becomes an unexceptional citrus. it is "realistic" in that it has a flat direct approach as if from a peel. it is not as strong as lemon furniture polish, but shares no nonsense lemon. the other reviews seem to have hit on the charms of the fragrance, but it is very particular. also very nice in its sweet way.

Cirebon is a distinctive citrus. The notes are hyper-realistic, with the citrus reading as almost overly ripe, fleshy, and tart. While not listed, I pick up on something like cumin or turmeric. There's a dried spice quality here. Combined with the vetiver and florals, this smells like something an old-timey snake oil salesman would sell from a wagon to cure unspecified illnesses. I mean this all in the best way. This is potent and natural-smelling, but it's still evocative in the way that speaks to real craft. A lot of citruses bore me, and this is definitely not boring.
