Yes, i know, i am quilty as charged...quilty for adding a lovely floral and fruity scent into my collection. Normally i stay into the loud and heavy scents with a lot of sillage. How did i take the bate ? Very easy: i recieved a lot of samples and one of them was....Paul Smith story for men. After a only few wearings, i couldn't resist anymore and ordered a large bottle at my favorite seller. It's not only a lovely scent, but also a very special bottle. It looks like a glass booklet,that's ready to be "read". I really enjoy the fresh and crispy grapefruit in combination with the Ivy and bergamot. You must let the scent settle down a bit to get the full body out into the open. The Jasmin,musk and amber will take you for sure smiling trough the whole day. So what it hasn't a two days staying power...so what it isn't a sillage monster.....so what this isn't the most masculine scent on the face of the earth..... It's a story that delivers, uplifting your mood and turn a smile on your face. For good use in spring, in the summer and autumn. Never mind overspraying, just indulge yourself......it's worth a try.

I have readed a review about story by paul smith himself, saying he just loved the scent of books and he had a great idea to make a fragrance with this scent. What could i immagine about myself smelling like books? i just have tried this one, and it had an amazing combination on my skin! All the girls around me became mesmerized with the scent, and it became my signature for some time. The combination of lemon, vetyver and some floral notes were so perfect, and it really reminds a book scent. This one is very masculine, different and charming fragrance, not usual but delicious. This is a perfect scent for daily use, with medium projection and longevity.

Love love love it on my skin. The grapefruit note in the opening is bright, fresh and clean, whereas the dry down vetiver note brings earthiness that calms me. It just works with my body chemistry. I have received several compliments at work when wearing Story from Paul Smith. It was my signature scent, and I owned 4 x100mL, 1 x 50mL, and 1 aftershave. I was quite disppointed when I heard it was discountinued. Since then, I have been searching for fragrances that are composed of grapefruit and vetiver, but for me nothing is quite like Paul Smith Sotry for men.

This was my first signature scent. And i own 4 big bottles. I cannot tell you how much I love this one. Is kind of dirty green grass feel, and earthy vetiver. I have a lot of memories with this fragrance. Even I though I own 50+ Different fragrances, but my heart always keep a space for story. And this is my girlfriend's favorite. Since it had been discontinued, it is quite hard to find it right now. So I will keep my juice carefully and no one can touch it lol.

Floral/earthy/woody. Fresh. Unique. A very airy kind of scent. From what I remember, at the beginning it smells like flowers and roots. Then the flowers tone down, and wood joins the party while it keeps that earthiness. It is light, but lasts as well. Perfect for a day at the beach during summer!

this was my first fragrance i ever bought what can i said??? is very green, but yet still very earthy and now i am having my 2nd bottle (100ml) and this has been discontinued from paul smith so i will just keep it in good condition, and sometime using it when i miss the smell

This was a banger of a scent. Green, sharp, savoury. That hint of funk and mouldy citrus peel in the background, that made it feel just the right level of dirty and seductive.

This is a favourite! It ́s fresh,green,peppery(tho it doesn ́t say) and perfect for both men and women. Its not a unique one, but it ́s something else.

Sharp citrus, earthy vetiver, clean and green. Sillage-moderate. Longevity-on skin: fades pretty fast; on clothes: good; Bottle design: Hipster cool.

This is an interesting compromise between the bright soapy green of Mugler or Creed OV, and the dark moist sharp green of Eau de Gentiane Blanche or Eau de Campagne. Initially it's like a sharper Mugler, with a wet, ivy-like soapy green, not very sweet but very astringent. Then, while other scents become soapier at this point, Story becomes greener: an earthy forest green, with some dirt but not much, so that it still remains clean. It's mainly ivy from this point forward, which is cool and refreshing for summer, but one caveat here is an underlying rubberiness, imparting that sense of "eau de shoe store" that I find in a small number of fragrances. It's not as bad as in some others I've tried, though. It weakens quite a bit after this, getting duller and dirtier as it completely loses that initial sparkle. There's a little bit of spearmint in what's left, and it feels like it's trying to bolster both the strength and the freshness, but not making much inroads toward either. Overall this isn't a bad offering, and is admittedly pretty cheap, but if you've got the money, I'd consider the four aforementioned scents, or even the archetypal Paco Rabanne. But if someone starts selling bottles of "Paul Smith Story Minutes 0-5", I'll buy one!

There's nothing about this scent I dislike, except for the poor staying power-It's absolutely pleasant-a gentle aromatic, with a perfect breezy vetiver and deliciously bitter bergamot that remains present for some time... The opening is floral fruity, the rest is more aromatic, even citrus aromatic with pervasive greenness...When you spray it on, there is a lovely clear burst of grapefruit-sweet as grapefruit, or a temple orange sweetness at the most. It's light and fresh, but within one minute, the green takes over. Ivy, just a trace of the indole of jasmine contributing to that perfect masculine smell-a green pleasant smell that would make me comfortable to smell on a man, and it's so pleasant I would like to smell it on women too. My man only wears cologne on special occasions, even then, I don't always want to attack him with my samples-this is not a special occasion cologne, but a nice comfy natural cologne, in my opinion. So I will be wearing this sample instead!

To me, Story has always reminded me of Celery. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed this fragrance quite a lot during my university years, it is a scent of youth. This is a very Fresh Green fragrance and it is a great day time fragrance. It matches very well with the smell of wet grass on a rainy day. The Celery note comes a bit later, when the green notes subsides to revel some spicy celery seed and pepper note, mixed together with the remaining green notes and voila, watery fresh celery! I don't think this fragrance has much base not as it doesn't stay long on skin. Lasts around 2 hours.

This is a great fragrance for everyday wear. The Ivy and Grapefruit go together very well creating a peppery like scent. The Cedarwood, Ivy and Vetiver finish off this scent creating a lasting simple, yet attractive scent all day. The overall effect is clean, spicy, and intriguing. Story is not overpowering, and I think I designed for the men who appreciate masculine perfume which is airy and earthy, rather than too strong, overpowering, cluttered, and overbearing. I would say that this is defiantly one of Paul Smiths best fragrances for men.

I used to have Paul Smith Story back when they were available all over the discounters for dirt cheap. I remember it was very light, pleasant and green. This is one you have to overspray to get any sort of impact because it's rather subtle. There's nothing sexy about this one so if you're trying to impress others around you then you're not going to do it with this one. This is for those that want a discrete fragrance without alarming those around them.

The begenning is a slap on the face!! i thought i'll be smelling another overrated fragrance that smells like trash. but after a while, when it calmned down a bit, i started enjoying the smell. it for some reason reminds me of encre noire!!!! may be due to the vetiver and musk... all in all not bad , but i would buy something else. Edit: i think without the Ivy note this would be much much better

I really like this scent, bought another bottle after the first one ran out. Pepper, grapefruit and some wood make a good composition for me. I wish the longevity would be better though. Good to put after shower and to wear at work when you don't want to offend others with your statement scent but rather feel your scent on your skin. One of those "makes me feel better" scents.

Got this cheap at a discount shop - It's a green sweetish smell. Doesn't last very long though. It's quite a nice fresh men's frag. *UPDATE* I understand the comments about the "rubber" note and it is there slightly - it's an OK scent. I think this composition could have done with a bit more "tweeking". I will not replace it when I've used this up

Lovely light, refreshing green scent. Quite a noticeable zesty grapefruit and florals, definitely gives it an air of a fresh garden or something. It's a very easygoing scent and I think it works just fine as a unisex one. Very hard to imagine this ever smelling unwelcome or overwhelming.

Very fresh and very light. Something you should wear while you're strolling through the park on a hot day :)

The first blast was incredibly green! Now I know what ivy smells like . . . mm it's like a romp in a New England forest around springtime, chasing after your dog, who cheerfully bundles through the undergrowth crushing fragrant plants along her path. A little bit coniferous, but mostly just sharp and herby. It makes me nostalgic. Then the brisk opening settles down into a very woody earthy heart. I was surprised to see jasmine listed as a note, since I don't smell it at all. Mostly it's just a remarkably dry blend of woods. Crisp. If I wanted to build a bonfire, this is the stuff I'd use. A teeny bit sweet, but mostly tangy. Very unique. I'd buy this for the nature-lover you know. As for me, I like all of these smells in nature, but not on skin.

My ex wife and her best friend loved this one. It just did something for them that it just didn't do for me. And when I wore this in the office, it did get compliments I still have my old bottle as I realised this was discontinued. I don't know how to put this but it just smells, well, sweaty. And when I mean sweaty, I mean post coital sweaty rather than after running 10k. It's definitely that scent. Maybe it's the bergamot. This scent is part of my watery scents. It's very light and a little fruity. And usually I just don't really like it. I will wear it for a change in the office (when we get back) but sparingly as I only have half left. It reminds me a bit of JPG le Male but a more restrained type.

Once again I'm kicking myself for buying a fragrance untested. This is so awful. I have not found a person who would like it. How does it smell? At this point I'm sorry that English isn't my first language, so I could describe it better. Well for me it's like huge pile of foul smelling herbs that some toothless crone has collected to boil in her pot and make some horrible instantly-killing potion. If you should by any chance like it, I can recommend another fragrance which is EVEN MORE herbal than this: Andy Warhol pour Homme.

I really need to do a better job not falling for neat looking bottles when the description tells you that it's aim is to smell like old books. Unless you're a crazy glue sniffer, or someone who likes to huff paint, I can't imagine this scent will be appealing to you. Ironically, I think it does smell a little like old books. It hit it's mark...I was the fool for wanting to try it.

Very dissapointed in this one . Foolishly bought the 100ml bottle . I get the initial burst of grapefruit then nothing and the scent completely dissapears on my skin . waste of moneyt - for me anyway, I have even offered it to friends who have politely refused what does that say about a fragrance you cant even give away ..........

A strange blast of celery-like scent comes into presence the ivy is responsible for that veggie scent the bergamot is ok vetiver makes it too pungent the ceder makes it dry this reminds me of celery soup. the plus side is i love the box it has a hip urban feel edgy in fact but that wont save from being like by me.

Well, my first Paul Smith sniff was a big surprise at its top notes, not in a good way unfortunately. I am not sure whether what that green scent is. But as far as the other reviewers had mentioned, it must have been "IVY". And my body response to it was "strangely green", IMHO. Cheers, I'm sorry Paul :)

All I can say is this smells like skunk on my husband. I put some on myself to see if perhaps it was his chemistry throwing it off... NOT it smells skunky on me as well! Big thumbs down for me too.

Pretty different from what I was expecting. You know when you take a bottle of a dry white wine, a sparkling one, pull out the cork and drink a little? The all thing that I smell is what I immediately remember when I smell Paul Smith Story. But just not alcoholic, and, like that dry white wine, not sugary. There is not sweet here. And, to me, it also could be a Lalique's Encre Noire distant cousin. I don't love it, but is interesting. On the other hand, this is surprisingly similar to Kenzo Air (read the review by mighelbh). Go figure it. Neither the anise note in the last one is strong enough to make a substancial diference. Also, rithacha (review above) has a good view of Story. Story, Kenzo Air and Encre Noir have all a familiar smell that recall some kind of wood which had been under the rain for a while. Burning forest, I read about Encre Noire somewhere.

I am sorry, but Paul Smith Story is not a vetiver fragrance (as some people sell it). I can smell vetiver one hour after application. It lasts for a while and then dies in an ocean of freshness in Cool Water style. This 1646th copy of legendary Davidoff’s fragrance introduced me some citrusy notes in the beginning, maybe some other fruit and cedar. If it was meant to be a green fragrance, the final result is very light green. Not very good longetivity (four hours and it is almost gone). I love vetiver and I am staying with Encre Noire by Lalique and Vetiver pour Elle by Guerlain (which really is not only for girls). End of story.

Smells light and airy. Perfect for a hot humid summer days. I wore this in a hot sweating summer and it smells great. The ivy note lingers well with the soft powdery amber and vetiver. There is a slight nutty smell/feeling when wearing Story. Longevity on my skin is around 5 hours. Great for summer days when you just wanna something that smells good without being cloying and heavy. Highly recommended.

Who spilled some Encre Noire into my weirdly-rendered Cool Water clone scent? That's more or less what this one is. I think Mandarina Duck's Cool Black is a better scent of this type. So, while I can understand that some will like Story for one reason or another, I doubt that I would wear it more than once a decade, and now the prices for it are ridiculous, the story apparently is at an end.

since the floral fruity perfumes for males are rare,I was so eager to smell this fragrance and when I saw the tester in a perfume shop,immediately I grab it to find out how it smells.the result?well,not what I expected.it opens more likely with citrus scents than fruity and when I get used to it,it was gone!fades away quicker than expection.

I mixed the sample with some CK Crave and BVL Pour Homme and it smells pretty good! but otherwise I agree with the "SKUNK" thing. It doesnt really smell like a skunk. But it smells like a rubber toy. You know those toys that smell kinda skunky ya thats what this smells like. But sweeter lol

100% post 90s green-fresh leafy citrusy vetiver which is a much better alternative to several other similarly themed niche offerings including a bunch of Creeds. Simple but it does the trick for very cheap and lasts a good time too. Rating: 7/10

This one is very herby with sweet citrus and has an aromatic quality which to me is similar to citronella. There is a spiciness (perhaps pepper) about it, yet I see no spices listed. It is a bit of an enigma. It lasts quite well.

This fragrance is really hard to catch. It smells different, almost completely different, on different people. All I get from this one is lemon peel while on my mom and my friend it's more of a floral smell.

I tried this one at a Paul Smith store. I'm not much a fan of it. Maybe it's just not the type of scent for my age range. A guy at his late 30's to early 50's would smell great wearing this one.

Seriously, put all that lemon fire blast opening and poor sillage aside and you got a Tokyo by Kenzo look-alike. Thumbs down, Paul Smith.

the bottle looks like Kenzo L'eau Par Pour Femme :o the scent is pretty, light and a little bit spicy from mint leaves

Too light! Too fast to fade away! I almost feel this scent so green because of its vetiver. Anyway, I love the bottle.

This is my favorite perfume. Very clean green citrus. Too bad it doesn't last very long.
