Elixir Le Parfum

Payot's Elixir Le Parfum is a very nice and clean freshie and I don't think that it would offend anyone. I can imagine this working both for the ladies and gents, since I feel like this is a truly unisex fragrance to my nose. It isn't dark and woody, but it isn't super flowery either. I can smell the citric burst of bergamot at the top, livening up the perfume and filling me with a burst of zesty energy. I can then smell some white flower floracy from the bitter neroli, but without being as sweet as of course orange blossom absolute is. I can definitely get the amaryis as well, but not as much. There is certainly amaryis's balsamic properties here, but it isn't overwhelming. I can smell the musk and the vanilla in the base notes as well, but only very slightly. It gives a slightly sweet and natural smell at the end of the fragrance. I only got intimate sillage from Payot's Elixir Le Parfum and about 2 hours wear. It is a very light perfume and I think that this makes this office appropriate. I feel like this fragrance lacked some complexity and character though and it was a bit too citrusy for my tastes, so I'd give it a 7 out of 10. It would be great for a spring or summer picnic though or any other activity during the day, since it is so bright and happy, like a ray of sunshine!

Call me crazy, but to me, it smells almost exactly like Nuxe Prodigieux Le Parfum. I am surprised to see that the notes are so different. I also agree with the above comment, it does indeed smells like Orchid Soleil too. Overall, to me, it is a luxurious summer perfume (but may also work in cold days). Oily and flowery, the way i like it. The bottle is very pretty too. If i got it as a gift, i would wear it with pleasure, but at the moment i wouldn't buy it because i already have something similar in my wardrobe, but it is a very nice scent. I am happy i tried it. Strongest note to my nose is neroli. Office appropriate? no Safe gift or blind buy? no Final note: 7/10

I've had this one for a few years, now. I love to wear it when I'm fresh out of the shower. There is something clean and delicate about this scent, but it is very impactful. I smell mostly Neroli on me, with a subtle sweetness from the vanilla, and a gentle base of musk. A warm, golden floral nectar that is perfectly suitable for the bottle that contains it.

I so much wanted to love this... actually I hoped it was a repackaged version of my much adored but discontinued Payot Eau de Soin (not the Energising or the Relaxing version, but the original in a clear bottle that looks like water and smells like the heavenly Precious Mineral Oil from the same line). But it was not to be. In fact Payot's Elixir is so much like Gianfranco Ferre's Essence d'Eau, which I gave away around 10 years ago due to the absolutely overpowering, overripe and oversweet neroli that seems to hijack everything else. While Elixir contains some peppery notes to temper it, I still get too much heavy, sweet yellow flower through the dry-down. This perfume also reminds me of a one-time 1990s favourite, Lancome's Poeme. Elixir was a blind buy but sadly not a successful one for me. I'll be moving it along. And in the meantime, if any readers know where I can lay my hands on Payot's original Eau de Soin, please do kindly let me know. :-)

Maybe I'm crazy, but this smells like a toned down version of Tom Ford's Orchid Soleil to me. Elixir doesn't have the sharpness distinctive to TF's perfumes, and has more of an inoffensive, easy-to-wear vibe to it. I like it! The longevity is decent too. I'd say it takes about 5 hours before you'll have to really sniff your wrist to smell it.
