Blasted Bloom

Love at first blast! Blasted Bloom opens with a light fruity note that is quickly followed by the stronger notes of green leaves and sea water. I smell cold ocean waves with a tinge of seaweed, which I love. They are joined by wild coastal roses, eglantines, which are spiced with pink pepper. Hawthorn adds a woody, aromatic note that balances the sweetness of the roses. The woodiness intensifies as Blasted Bloom dries down, with the emergence of cedarwood and the "Clearwood" note, but it is softened by moss and light musk. I haven't smelled anything quite like it before and I mean that in a good way. Here is what Penhaligon's website says: "Illuminating the freshness of wild flora found along the dramatic British coast, Blasted Bloom captures a free-spirited landscape where the energy and majesty of the Sea meets the natural richness of the Land. The mineral purity of an aquatic accord meets the fruity sparkle of wild berries and the sensation of hand-crushed green leaves. Wild floral heart of eglantine rose and hawthorn is tinted with pink pepper. A whisper of ClearwoodTM is enveloped in balmy cedarwood, on a smooth bed of moss and musks." The nose who created Blasted Bloom and its more masculine partner, Blasted Heath, is Alberto Morillas, "who was inspired by the poetry of the nation’s island landscape – in particular the wild coasts of Scotland – where the land meets the sea, to create these intriguing perfumes", according to Caroline Simpson in Glass Magazine. Update: I often apply Blasted Bloom in the morning before I go to work. I don't take it with me, so I'm not reapplying it at the office. At a point hours later, when I'm not really smelling it on myself any more, I've had co-workers compliment me on it more than once. So longevity is good, even if your own nose gets used to it!

I was given this frag for my birthday (end of July) and it is a perfect summer scent. Very happy with its longevity and development on skin, even if the change is rather linear you can enjoy its marine and green musky notes along the day. I'd say the "bloom" part is quite hidden but it provides a nice subtle twist to the green leaves and marine notes. Not my signature fragrance but a carefree splash of freshness to wear during the hot season. Comfortable, easy, forgettable in a positive way and totally undemanding. It smells soapy, brisk, simple. It only asks to be worn without too much thinking. That is how i enjoy it the most.

I really like this one. I feel like it's a rosy take on Acqua di Gio, making it a little more feminine. I might layer the two to see what happens (I prefer masculine fragrances). Overall, I feel like men and women can pull it off if they're not put off by the rose note.

One of the rare perfumes where I feel I can detect each and every note listed. I love that it's a more feminine take on aquatic marine scents. It's definitely unique: a rare combination of the smells of seawater, berries and flowers. I may be in love...

Oh this is beautiful. It’s like expensive Aqua Di Gio (price and quality of smell wise). Lasts long. Smells great. I haven’t seen it in market again after i bought it few years ago, so trying to save the last bits of this juice

Green fresh and clear scent. Performance is top. I think this may top longevity in summer fragrances.. For ideal daily using in summer. Edit: After a while it becomes boring and disturbing. Scent: 5/10 Long: 9/10 Sillage: 7/10

This marked for women?? And i see people describing to to Aqua di gio or gillete mens deodorant. Maybe its more unisex. Edit: This is way too feminine. Sweet fresh floral. Its nice but not for men.

Blasted Bloom is great...more complex with a lighter feeling than Blasted Heath...the berries are very slight in this, as it's mostly aquatic with a light floral thrown in for balance...

Blasted Bloom is a well composed, distinct and vivid ocean smell. I picture a beautifull seaside wind bringing everything on swirling around the coastline. Blasted Bloom opens with a tart, unsweet wild berry accord. The marine dominates just seconds after spraying along with a a little green vibe, almost like uncut wild grass. Its aquatic, slightly peppery, cool and a bit herby, I would have loved if it had more flowernotes. The rose in here is lovely. Longevity is great and the projection quite good. I enjoy the frosted bottle with the round stopper and green bow. Its totally unisex.

This what I get for the majority of the fragrance. Smelling Blasted Bloom on clothes I wore the day before, it still smells like a vivid ocean scent. No way I would classify this as a unisex fragrance. No fruits. No florals. More masculine than anything.

Blasted Bloom and Blasted heath are a great pair. Bloom is slightly more feminine whereas Heath is more masculine. I decided to go for Bloom as it is a slightly more complex aquatic fragrance. I feel Heath is similar to many other fragrances. Both are impressive with their strength. I like how there is a coldness to Bloom which is great for Autumn/Winter months. Great fragrance

First blind buy... And last one. Way too feminine for my taste this is something a classy woman would wear casually for spring but i can't see myself wearing it unless my girlfriend asks me to but I'm not going out with this scent on me

received a free sample of this with a order. It is basically a floral version of acqua di gio.

Blasted Bloom opens with a very nice, bright variety of berries. Then it becomes more green and finally the aquatic notes start to come through. While it sure is expertly crafted, I find it boring and slightly annoying. I do love a green fragrance, but the addition of this aquatic accord turns Blasted Bloom into a rather generic scent. This is my problem with so many lighter spring and summer fragrances: I love the openings, but the drydowns are either green cedar (boring) or aquatic (annoying). If aquatic fragrances are your thing, this is definitely something to try, but to me, this is slightly nauseating and not my thing at all. Too bad, I loved the idea of a coastline-inspired fragrance, but I guess I just can't deal with the execution of the idea. Longevity and projection are quite good.

This review is based on a sample.. So, I have been eyeing this fragrance for a while now. It seemed like something different and interesting, but I was also not sure if it would be something I would like, so I bought a sample. Turned out it did not work for me at all. Probably one of the worst scents I have ever smelled in fact. The opening is alright. Very green and aquatic, but then after a few minutes it turns into something really bitter mixed with pine cones and salt and pepper. And it is very potent as well. Gives me a bad headache. If you have the right chemistry, and are into the notes listed it might be for you.It is something different for sure. The quality is good as well. Very long lasting on my skin and the sillage is huge.

A fresh, strong, woody, masculine fragrance. In fact, it smells almost identical to Gillette's Cool Wave deodorant/antiperspirant gel for men. The only notes I really notice are marine and cedar.

This fragrance smells "off" to me, somehow. Kind of like a wet dog with some kind of shampoo? It must be the sea water note that doesn't sit well on my skin.

This is nothing but Bulgari Aqua on steroids. Too much aquatic and bitter, almost annoying.
