Liquid Love

I sampled the entire Potions & Remedies collection today and this was my initial favourite because of the invigorating spicy ginger rose opening. Absolutely stunning rose but I agree with the review below, that it’s quite simply a spicy green rose.. beautiful, and high-quality like all Penhaligons fragrances. It does dry down and soften a lot. It didn’t quite last 6 hours on my skin after one spray (in between hand washing of course so that likely affected it). I ended up with the Travel spray of this one to play with it more. I think a good overspray of it will be very refreshing in the warmer months. I’m a sucker for a sweet fruity rose and this certainly does deliver with a kick of spice. FB worthy? I will update once I play with it some more.

Liquid Love isn't delicate. It is pulse racing, neck braking, reckless romance. The opening is as spicy and sensual as a love affair can be; cinnamon, ginger, chilli, turmeric and pink pepper flirt with you skin. The contemporary floral notes smoulder beneath the spice, like a lovers breath against your neck. The musky dry down grasps longingly to the body, like caressing fingertips grazing your wrist. This is love that bites as it kisses. It is electric eyes locking across a busy airport. It is lips inches apart and praying for time to stand still. It is a scent for those who realise, love isn't always gentle, and neither should you be.

I had an emotional reaction to this one - liquid love, indeed. I wanted a rose scent for the Fall, and this was a winner. The moment they spray this one for me in KaDeWe, I almost burst into to tears- yes, this was so good! The scent of desire and belonging. It is the same kind of Rose as in Elixir, Penhaligons. Comparing them, I see the remarkable similarities. However, the Rose in Elixir is more nuanced and complex. The Rose in Liquid Love is bubble-gummy and almost tuberous-like. It is not a fat, oily red Bulgarian rose; on the contrary, it is almost fresh and dewy, which is perfectly suitable for a gentleman to wear, in my opinion.

I am trying this from a free sample. The opening is fresh rose and citrus. As it dries, the ginger appears and becomes more and more intense, overpowering the rose. It is fresh and spicy, almost acidic and pungent; I guess that's the chili and pepper. As it dries down, you can smell the rose, and the zingy notes are still there, but they are toned down, giving a softer, rounder dry down. It is a bright and pungent rose perfume, not like something I already have. I might get a bottle next spring/summer, as I think this would be great in warmer weather. It's mouthwatering and delicious❤️🌹🫚🌶❤️

i completely adore this, i think this is such a gorgeous way to incorporate chilli pepper into a scent. the pepper here is freshly cut, it’s gently hot with a gingery bite to it, but it is never overwhelming at all. the sweet spicy vegetal quality of the pepper paired with the plush softness of pink rose compliment one another perfectly, liquid love smells so clean and especially gorgeous as it softens revealing the musk in the drydown. this perfume is perfect for somewhere fancy at night, and has a way of energizing whoever catches a whiff.

A punch in the face of sickly sweet red roses. Femininity concentrated and then thickened up. Very strong and surprisingly lovely, huge personality maybe overwhelming to the passers by.

Wearing this scent makes me feel clean and excited to start my day. It's so amazing and crisp, a truly very feminine perfume.

First thing to says is that it's nice to have a fragrance name Liquide Love that doesn't try to emulates some bodily fluids these days. Romance is not dead. Second is I am so pleasantly surprised. I do not like ginger and I tend to only love rose perfumes that are rose centric. The opening is a bright rose, fragrant, pink (not too green not too deep) with a hint of pink pepper. When it dries down the rose stays but a bit muted behind a well balanced blend of spices and a discreet base of musk. It makes for a soft spicy rose with a woody base, where everything is really well dosed. It's pretty, it has character and it's overall a really good scent that fits the theme. Also I have to admit that I usually do not love rose and spices together so, if you're looking for a hardcore ginger/Red Chilli Pepper/rose this is not the weird perfume you're looking for.

I absolutely loved the Potions and Remedies line overall. Since Liquid Love is my favourite among them, I’m starting with it first: I have a lot of rose scents, but I could put this one in a category of its own, because this rose is fresh, dewy, and vibrant. It’s sugar-free and natural. Sparkling. There was a time I was really into Byredo’s Rose Of No Man’s Land, but the papyrus note in it eventually became unbearable for me. I hadn’t been able to find a rose as bright and sharp as that one until Liquid Love came along and found me. I usually don’t find Penhaligon’s fragrances long-lasting, but this one has good longevity. Although it shares some similarities with Coveted Duchess Rose, I think this one features a slightly more vibrant rose.

Stunning opening!!! Lush, fruity floral accord with LASHINGS (and I do mean lashings!) of pink pepper. Even for me a big fan of pink pepper, it's a massive overdose. It's an invigorating mixture which explodes out of the gate at first and as it transpires actually has better legs than some of the others in this line but unfortunately is top loaded in that way Penhaligon's seem to be guilty (or at least accused...) of doing. As it settles I get something of a 'shower gel' association which is probably just the clean musks and floralising stuff driving this perfume along. But as I mentioned... again....not for long. Hate to be a length Qween but yeah...hour or two and barely owt there.

These are some notes for myself more than anything. I immediately love the spice opening which is super gingery with a bit of chili. I get a bit of cinnamon too; it reminds me a bit of the cinnamon challenge, but in a good way (the part before you start coughing your lungs out). The rose is lurking in the background, but is much more subdued. Upon initial spray, I'd give this an 8/10. As time passed, the intensity dies down, but the scent remains pretty linear for me. With the initial spray, what you see (or smell in this case) is mostly what you get. A great scent, but too autumnal or holiday festive for a wedding.

This completely reminds me of Fendi Furiosa, which I adore. I think it's the pink pepper- but it literally smells exactly the same, even though that seems to be the only note in common. I won't wax poetic about it, you can read my review of Furiosa to tell how I feel about it. The only thing is the Penhaligon offering doesn't have the same longevity of Fendi Furiosa, and for the price point...that is a bit disappointing.

Smells very similar to the discontinued Vaara. Not as sweet, slightly more spicy. I think Penhaligon's does rose fragrances very well, even if they're not super exciting. To me this is a rose musk, with something added - a slight vegetal, carrot scent. I can see why people are comparing it to Duchess Rose once it dries down a bit, but it's not the same.

this is a pretty decent scent. initial spray was very overpowering but the dry down is a nice rose. this rose is much better than Penhaligon's other elisabeth one. it stayed on well for a number of hours. can't tell if I'd want to wear this as a warming spice scent in cold winters or as an early evening scent for the summer.

Beautiful soft woody rose. Nothing funky. Rosewater or softly rose scented cosmetics- not full on grandmother’s vanity, it’s more soft and contemporary. I really like it, but you must like a rose perfume. Nothing covers up the rose. This is one of the best Potions & Remedies. Now on my need a full bottle list.

Very enticing, more feminine than I was expecting, rose and ginger opening and then a heavy rose and sandalwood on dry down are the only notes that really carried on my skin. It’s a shame the longevity is weak.

A quite lovely spicy green rose. Not much more to say than that! It doesn't last terribly long and you can probably get something similar for way less.

It's basically the duchess rose rebottled, longevity is not great, even though I love the scent the longevity is an issue. Beautiful bottle though.

I'm not moved by this. It's not bad, but it's pretty boring. It's got some interesting notes, but I think the pepper sort of overtakes them all and mixes it into a generic spicy-ish rose scent. I don't get the ginger or the chili pepper, or even the sandalwood, really. They all kind of meld into "sort of warmly spicy". I have a love-hate relationship with rose notes, but this one is decent. It's about all that really penetrates though the peppery cloud. The pepper actually isn't overwhelming (I'm thinking about my initial spray of Babycat here when it felt like I was being pepper-sprayed), but it's the strongest note by far. It's okay. Not great, not bad. I wouldn't spend for the Penhaligon's price tag on this one. 5.5/10.

Do not be afraid of the Red Chili Pepper and Ginger notes. This is just an inoffensive, ultra-bland version of something like Experimentum Crucis by ELDO. Is it good? Sure. But it's been rounded out and buffed down into a perfect pristine perfume to be palatable to wide audiences. It almost feels like going to an Indian or Mexican restaurant and all of the spices are hardly there to suit the blandest of tastes. In that regard, this is incredibly British... Might be a good one to have as a control or comparison to other rose/spicy fragrances to gauge the scent of others in your collection, something like that. It really is not that offensive. (Unfortunately for Penhaligon's, I want my perfumes to be a little offensive.)

i kinda really liked this perfume when i came across it first in a sample. kept spraying it on me and really enjoyed it. eventually i got a whole bottle. but now over time i must say ive grown bored by it. it smells nice and fresh, zingy zangy playful rose and ginger and some spice heady moist juicy and dries down into a slightly powder agreeable base too but its just really boring. i regret buying a whole bottle, yeah its easygoing for any occasion where nothing too heavy or wild is demanded but eh... theres nothing happening, nothing of interest, no statement no emotion nothing. what a shame. maybe ill flip it to someone who can apprechiate it more than me.

Night time version of Duchess Rose. I can see similarity to Delina as well but seems like all modern rose perfumes gets compared to Delina. Major downside is performance. Very light wearing. Will let it sit and update if anything changes. As per usual with Penhaligon's, the packaging is just TOP TIER.

i really really wanted to love this as i love the concept and bottle of it but i cant :( it just feels like a soapy sweet rose...

Quite strong feelings about this one. Initial reaction in store, absolutely loved the ginger and chili notes, and the rose felt balanced and didn't bother me despite me usually not enjoying rose. I decided to do a skin test since I loved the ginger so much, and they gave me a sprayed handkerchief before leaving the store. Hours went by and I was surprised - every time I smelled my wrist or the handkerchief I liked it less, as the only thing I could smell was the rose and it was overpowering. I have the handkerchief in a drawer and every time I open the drawer it's a rose slap on the face. Oh well.

Dopo i primi due minuti di incertezza si è trasformato in Passage d'enfer de lartisan parfumeur. Se immaginavo un fluido cremoso e voluttuoso che evocasse passione come una pozione, la mia illusione è stata delusa come di frequente. Descrivono i profumi come in realtà non sono e fin troppo spesso l'odore non c'entra niente col nome e col concetto. Questo liquid love è passage d'enfer. Zero creatività, zero fantasia e zero piacere.

Definitely one for the ladies. Smell is a zingy, almost citrusy, rose scent. Very fresh. The dry down starts to become a more powdery note.

I don’t think I’m quite smelling what everyone else is here - my first impression was of some sort of infused vegetable water served at a high end beauty clinic or spa, like a mix of cucumber water and a face cream my mother once used to use. I think it’s how the rose is coming out, way too green and aqueous. Someone compared it to Delina La Rosee and in that aspect I see where they’re coming from, because I hated Delina La Rosee instantly due to its pond like vibe despite loving both other Delinas. The spiciness becomes almost secondary to me (though it probably wouldn’t be to a nose less offended by this type of rose note) but it redeems this fragrance to me in a way that D.L.R. cannot. The pepper is strong and direct, which I like but be warned. It’s not an objectively unpleasant smell at all, and I suspect with time throughout the day it would settle more and more into something I’d like to wear, however I can’t get past my noses first impression and it is very much not personally compatible with me. It doesn’t capture at all for me what a love potion would smell like, or what falling in love feels like, and is not what I would wear to attract someone to fall in love with me either. I can see the appeal it might have to others and I wouldn’t mind smelling this around someone else at all, but it’s a miss on all fronts for myself.

This was a blind buy. . But liquid love is a love. Phew! Yes, i concur it's of the same ilk as Duchess Rose and Eclat De Roses. 💯 . Both those fragrances are very up my street, though Duchess fell a little flat and boring for me. Liquid Love has a little something something that is working in its favour. Maybe it's the little kick of spice lurking behind the Rose, maybe it's the ginger giving it a little fuzzy warmth. .maybe it's that's hazelnut. Though if it's the hazelnut, the nut is a baby one that's still white/green with a slight bitter softness. There's a tiny hint of something green and vegetal , but only a pinch. It brings an interesting facet to the rose composition. I think it's a beautiful fragrance. Very balanced in its materials, and definitely easy to wear. Definitely a light wear, but that works for me. Can't stand shouty bold fragrances 🌹 Rose and Jones 🌹x

A disappointing release from Penhaligons. Quite an abrasive, screechy 'feminine' perfume. Tried to love this but wanted to wash it off every time because I either couldn't stand the smell or because I felt an immediate migraine coming on. Not enough sweetness to balance out the spicy notes and it is VERY loud/strong. The rose is there and is probably the only thing saving it but I don't like rose either so theres no saving this for me. Not office safe for sure, I would want to punch whoever is next to me if they were wearing this or I'd have to quit.

This smells like a spicier and greener version of Elisabethan Rose or Duchess Rose. If you want ER with a kick of chili pepper, look no further! The rose accord oil being used is the same , jammy and soft and lush, but the ingredients are much more specifically listed in the potions (?). The green hazelnut lends a slightly creamy and fresh accord that is very pleasant, but I am not sure if this purchase would be redundant if you already own ER. Let me tell you that I became addicted to this in the last month of summer and sold my ER.

This is my scent of the day and so far I'm enjoying this fragrance 💕 I never thought that I would love a rose 🌹 fragrance so much? I love that it's not overwhelming or offensive to others and for my skin the longevity is going very well and the projection is somewhat present but not to strong. I love it and I'm going to purchase a full bottle of my first rose fragrance ❤️🔥

This is beautiful! If you like Delina a La rosee you will like this! It’s a slightly less fresh smell than Delina though (not in a bad way). It’s a tad heavier which penhaligon fragrances do tend to be! My husband bought me this so it feels very romantic. Absolutely stunning.

Did the discovery kit. This one was my favorite, But I love rose. It’s a musky rose. It’s nice. If I smelled this is in the air I would look for, well someone with a cute small dog. I don’t know but that’s the vibe I get. Maybe because it feels “happy” to me.

As a Harry Potter fan not gonna lie I would buy this perfume just because of its name... :D Haven't sampled it yet but the bottle and the aesthetic side of this perfume are just on point for me! Looove! Hope to try it soon!

Ridiculously similar to my long gone beloved Fleur de Narcisse (Chloé) despite the difference in the notes. Sampling a tester today, I simply adore it
